Alphine - Wordpress Portfolio and Blog Theme

I was trying to make filters appear as a dropdown menu. Anyone have any ideas on how to make this work? Basically a top level category with sub-categories that would appear below it. Thanks!

I’m having a few bugs with videos/ page intro fields showing up in editor mode but then somehow being deleted when I try to update or save. from looking at previous posts on this discussion page, it looks like I may need to update to version 1.2. How do I download it? It doesn’t show up in my downloads page on theme forest.

How can I change the blog template to show the full post and not just the excerpt?

I have the alphine template for wordpress. I want the bottom container of my site to show all recent posts. I got the shortcode [popular] to work but [recent] does not work. Is there a short code to get the bottom container to show all recent posts?

hi, i just updatet a vimeo video on my showcase portfolio and afterwards all the thumbnails didn’t work anymore and some of the vimeo videos as well. i’m using alphine 1.2 and wordpress 3.4.2. i tested it on a separate test installation of the theme on 3.4.2 – same problems.

could you please take a quick look (change or add a vimeo video) and tell me if it works on your system? otherwise i’ll do a new clean install.

I am really interested in this theme but have a few quick questions before purchase.

Is there a character limit on the portfolio posts (the content on the right side when an image is clicked)? We don’t want to put a lot of content in there, but have some case studies a little longer than the example and just want to make sure they would fit in there.

Also, are there any plans in the future to make this theme responsive?

I reported this about a month ago…my site shows up some weird characters “A’s” when viewed in certain browsers.

You commented back “no one has reported this before.” That doesn’t actually mean it’s not a problem! It just means no one has reported it yet.

Now I am reporting it and I would really like your assistance. Happy to provide you with further details via email but I have now had 8 people report this to me and it is specifically related to a certain version of Chrome.

I’d really appreciate it if you could assist me as this business is my livelihood.

This is the version of chrome one of my friends who reported the issue are using: Version 22.0.1229.79 m

I know I’m not getting it on the version of chrome I am using which is: Version 22.0.1229.79

So I’m wondering if the “m” makes a difference?

I cannot reproduce it on my version of chrome but it is obviously an issue for the version mentioned above.

Hi There,

Both are actually saying they are up to date. So the “m” version updated on my friend’s computer as per your suggestion but it still now has the “M” at the end and it is still displaying incorrectly as per before.

I tried searching for what the difference is between the two – i.e. why BOTH say they are up to date. I couldn’t find a conclusive answer but it seems to me that given a lot of people are using this version and it is a valid, up to date version, could you download the “M” version and debug your theme for that version?

Just had another person email through with the same problem with the text formatting (using the same version of chrome with the “m”). So that’s now 5 confirmed incidences where people have actually told me (of course most people don’t bother but a lot of my friends are web copywriters/designers and web specialists so they care about this stuff).

If you could let me know what you’re able to do to fix that would be lovely,

In portfolio grid, is there anyway to ‘pause’ the autoplay?

I don’t want to disable it…I like that it automatically goes from the first image to the next, but then I need to pause it.

My second ‘image’ is a video, and once the video starts playing, the ‘slider’ slides back to the first image…

I still love your theme to death! There are a few things I need to customize and haven’t been able to figure out.

1. Like GPBKAT my videos are changing to the next slide, even after I push play (i.e. it’ll play about 10 seconds of the video and then the image will change to the next slide even though the sound is still going/video still playing) – http://thewendtagency.com/#methamphetamine-prevention-campaign this seems to be a recent problem as I did not encounter this in the past.

2. My content doesn’t display my links inline on the portfolio home page – when I try to specify this with inline css it over-rides it (still displays the link in a separate line from the other content), but if I specify it in the css it messes with the darkened/overlay titles of the featured image thumbnails (each word is now displayed in a separate line). I tried adding a class to display inline (to .slides a, .large-slider a, .col1 a) but it caused the next and previous arrows to show up even on images that only had one slide image (though it did fix my links in content problem)....http://thewendtagency.com/#the-power-of-why strangely enough it doesn’t seem to happen on single portfolio posts… http://thewendtagency.com/portfolio/the-power-of-why/ any advice???

3. How do I remove the date and comments meta items from being shown in a page filtered by category? I have looked in a few php files and found the share/date attributes but I guess it wasn’t what I needed to change it… http://thewendtagency.com/portfolio_category/web-design/

4. I would like to add a ‘read more’ plugin (the text expander plugin by Alexander Zigelski seems to be my best bet as far as it not interfering with the theme). http://thewendtagency.com/#those-copper-cups only issue is that it seems to be inserting it’s own div (if you inspect it you can see it’s called te_div. What coding can I add to this to have it act as part of the content??? – currently when you click ‘read more’ the excess text goes behind the thumbnails instead of expanding the section down to fit the hidden type.

5. Also, you’ll notice that our page is kind of slow – I know this is totally our fault – it was decided that everything would be on one page (over 200 images) – I’ve optimized it and done everything I could with google page speed (currently 97/100) but one thing I think could help would be the ability to do almost like a lazy loading where it loads the images sequentially instead of just in one big block. It loads in one big block on FF, Safari, and Chrome.

It does load in a sequential order on IE( which is nice, but what isn’t so nice is it doesn’t let you open any of the portfolio pieces. I’m pretty sure this is due to the w3 total cache plugin (Loaded but with errors on the page – wp-content/w3tc/min/a109e428.0c52af.js unexpected call to method or property access line 532 char 771).

What do you suggest as a way to make load time improved (esp. since it seems the w3 cache might not be our best bet to work with IE)??? Maybe is there something I can do in js to have the pages load sequentially instead of in one big block?

I’m sorry, I know these are a ton of questions. I know out of the box this theme is amazing (5 stars for sure), but there were some changes I had to make four it to function the way we needed it to. Sorry to be such a pain with all these customization issues, but it seems like you give great support so I hope you can help.

Hey, I’m not sure if someone already asked this so sorry if you already found a solution to this problem. Basically, my nav isn’t working. The links work, but i dont think the ul is styled. (i see bullets and they’re listed vertically) If you need to see whats wrong I can give you the domain. Thanks. And I love this theme – you’ve done a wonderful job.

oh and adding onto what I posted earlier, I have another problem with the portfolio. I cant see the images. I know the images are uploaded onto wordpress, and I can see the featured image, but when I click on the images there’s nothing. There is a space for the image, but no image.
