Hello, I have a pre-sales question. Is it possible to implement a twitter feed widget on the site? Thanks Amir

2winFactor

Yep! You can see the twitter widget on the sidebar of this page:

http://themewich.com/aware/?page_id=63

There’s detailed information on how to add this on the knowledgebase as well:

http://support.themewich.com/kb/frequently-asked-questions/set-up-a-twitter-widget

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Andre

Thanks – is it possible to add a slider above the portfolio on the homepage?

2winFactor

There’s no option for that in the theme. You’d need to use a plugin and perhaps make some small modifications to the theme to add a slider there.

Hi,

I have upgraded to WP v4 and also wants to update the Aware theme from 1.3 to 1.4. When I try to upload the theme within WP it says:
Unpacking the package…

Installing the theme…

Destination folder already exists. /home/fateh/public_html/wp-content/themes/aware/

Theme install failed.

Can i simply swap the aware v1.3 folder to v1.4 folder if I do it from FTP client? Will I loose my settings for the theme?

Thanks

2winFactor

Hi Fatehshams,

If you’ve made no changes to the theme files, then you’re safe to update. However, it’s always a good idea to make a backup of your database (via Tools > Export) and your current theme files just in case. Then follow the steps here:

http://support.themewich.com/kb/updating-your-theme/how-to-update-your-theme#manual-updating

Basically, it means you’ll need to delete your current version of the theme before uploading the new version. Your settings, content and images are stored separately, so they won’t be affected when updating.

Hello, this text in header An Ultra Responsive Online Portfolio can be replaced with any html code or slider code from admin panel? Best, IC

2winFactor

Sure, this is possible, however, you may need to make some minor customizations to the theme depending on what you want to do. It will accept HTML, but if you’re using a shortcode you’ll need to add a content filter to the output in the homepage template file.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Hi,

I am using the theme currently but the thumbnails of images I post are not showing and instead all I get is a grey box. When I click the post the image is there but not on the thumbnails.

I have tried turning off adblocker and it isn’t that.

Cheers

Hi,

I have two questions:

First question:

All of my videos are 640×340 (width x height), except the first one, which size is 640×480. How do I change the first video into the same size as the rest? It has something to do with the embedding code, but I’m not an Einstein with coding. :P

Second question:

When I open the light box menu, the first slide is smaller than the rest of the slides. I think it’s a frame issue, because the true image sizes are all the same. How do I change the first slide into the same size as the rest?

I hope you can help me with this.

Here is the link of my site: Itsmechar.com

Kind regards,

Charissa

2winFactor

Excellent! This should be fixed in the next version of the theme! Thanks for letting me know!

sorry, I forgot just one question, is it´s also possible to separate the thumbnail picture from the featured image in the slideshow? I mean that the picture in the thumbnail is a different image than the first slide.

2winFactor

Hi IAMCHAR,

Yes, you can do that by following the instructions on the thread here:

Hello where i can find to translate “read more” for the post

Thx

2winFactor

Hi Antijulo,

Thanks for purchasing my theme! I really appreciate it!

You can translate all the strings via the .po/.mo files included with the theme. I recommend using a plugin like codestyling localization to translate the theme into your language.

Hi, First off, love this theme:) I was just wondering how to go about changing the colour of the speech bubbles, if you can. Also, is it possible to change the colour of the text for the page menus and the skill buttons (individually, not all at once.) Thanks! (My friend has a different theme that has sort of a ‘cheat sheet’ for changing specific bits of code for colours, etc…does anything of the sort exist for this theme?)

2winFactor

Hi NelShepard,

Thanks for purchasing my theme! I really appreciate it!

You can achieve this by following the instructions here:

since i purchased this theme in the past, why is it no longer in my downloads?

2winFactor

Hi Voyagemg,

Hmmm… I’m not seeing any purchase data from my end either. Are you sure you didn’t purchase the theme from another account? If you’re still having issues, I would contact envato support:

http://help.market.envato.com

I don’t have control over the transactions from my end, so they would be able to help you better than myself.

Awesome theme. Might buy in the next few weeks! Faved too.

Excellent! Any questions about the theme, just let me know!

Andre

Hello, I have a question, maybe you can help. I like the theme, but I would like to have a silder at the beginning and than the current homepage as portfolio page. Is it possible to change that? Thanx, Stefan

2winFactor

Hi Stefan,

You’d need to add a slider to your homepage to change that. Aware doesn’t have an option for that, so you’ll need to use a plugin to add a slideshow and possibly make some modifications to the theme.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Andre

Hi,

I have a few pre-sales queries about your theme that are quite lengthy (apologies in advance), but I’d be grateful if you could assist me with them:

1) Can you easily make a child theme out of this without having to touch the core files? [Unfortunately, a few themes I’ve purchased in my time have claimed child theme support but have ultimately required heavy modification of the parent files to customise the site…]

2) Does your theme support custom post types? If so, does it allow these post types to easily inherit the structure and style of the standard ‘post’ post type (i.e. just by registering the custom post type in the functions.php file and cloning the code of the original single.php template file to create a template for it)?

3) What video formats, and essentially video site links, does this theme support?

4) How is the homepage constructed? E.g. Is it a standard page structured by shortcodes, is it ‘widgetised’, i.e. controlled by the Widgets page, is it configured by the theme’s in-built options panel?

5) Are there full-width and sidebar options for all page and post types?

Thanks for your help.

2winFactor

Hi Thunderfunk,

Thanks so much for your interest! I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.

1) Yep! In fact, we’ve created some downloadable blank child themes to get you up and running likety-split:

http://support.themewich.com/kb/updating-your-theme/how-to-create-a-child-theme

What specifically were you looking to modify via child theme?

2) Sure – the only caveat being that you may need to modify the loops for specific index pages that you want your custom post types to appear. For instance, if you want them to appear in the homepage grid, you’ll need to modify the homepage loop to get portfolio items AND your custom post type. You can modify these loops via child theme if you want.

3) Anything supported by WordPress – here’s a list: http://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds#Okay.2C_So_What_Sites_Can_I_Embed_From.3F

4) It’s configured via a page template and built-in theme options. There is a content area on the page too, so you can always add shortcodes or widgets using a plugin.

5) Full width and sidebar options are for pages only. To remove the sidebar from posts/portfolio items you’ll need to either add some custom css or modify the template via a child theme.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Andre

Thunderfunk

Thanks very much for your response, Andre – your answers have been very helpful.

I didn’t have a specific modification in mind when asking about the child themes. I’m hoping to buy Aware for a showcase site I’m working on with a team and both content and structure are yet to be decided, so me asking was more a ‘just-in-case’ curiosity and making sure it can be easily achieved the normal Wordpress way. As explained, I’ve had a few themes before that overcomplicated standard Wordpress template tags/functions with their own framework; because of this and with insufficient documentation, producing child themes was difficult so the parent theme had to be modified instead (which, naturally, is bad practice).

I shall purchase Aware should the team also agree it’s ideal.

Thanks again.

2winFactor

Hi Thunderfunk,

Those are valid concerns. Aware does use available WordPress functions where present. Custom functions in the functions.php file can be overwritten in the child theme simply by copying them into your child theme’s blank functions file and modifying to your liking. Templates files are all able to be modified by child theme also.

Please let me know if you have any other questions,

Andre

Hello Andre. Can you please tell me how I can hide the “skills” categories text boxes from appearing above the portfolio section on the home page? Thanks.

2winFactor

Hi Heybill,

Thanks for purchasing my theme! I really appreciate it!

Yes, you can hide that with some custom css. Navigate to Theme Options > Customize and add this to your custom css box:

.home .filter {
display: none;
}

Hi

For videos on the front page, can I use self hosted video via WP’s built in html5 video player?

ta. Shaun

2winFactor

Hi Shaun,

The videos can use any type of video code or shortcode that WordPress supports.You can see the list of supported video here:

http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/

If you’re using the videopress plugin, you can use the shortcode that’s displayed following the steps here:

http://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Andre

Is there a way to get the controls (left arrow, right arrow, ellipses) on portfolio items to not auto hide so that they always remain visible?

Thank you,

2winFactor

Hi Thechristiansen,

Thanks for purchasing my theme! I really appreciate it!

You can change that by navigating to Theme Options > Customize and adding this to your custom css box:

.bx-wrapper .bx-controls-direction a,
.bx-wrapper .bx-pager {
    opacity: 1;
}
.bx-wrapper .bx-prev {
    left:0;
}
.bx-wrapper .bx-next {
    right:0;
}

Hi, I just want to know if your theme have a integrated page builder.

Thanks!

2winFactor

Hi Mozly,

Thanks so much for your interest! I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.

This theme doesn’t have an integrated page builder – it uses page templates to create the layouts you see in the demo.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Andre

On the example home page there are 10 portfolio images/projects and five category tags (Branding, Illustration etc)

Does it support more, lets say 12 portfolio images/projects and and 12 categories – to all appear on the home pages at once?

2winFactor

Hi Flatcube,

Thanks so much for your interest! I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Yes of course! The theme will allow any amount of portfolio images/projects and category tags on the homepage. Keep in mind that if all the categories don’t fit on the same line, there will be two lines of categories above the image grid.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Andre

Hi

I’ve just purchased and installed, however none of my forms don’t work even though I’ve entered my email into Theme Options>Forms.

The spam prevention maths sum is always 5-1 too?

Please advise Thanks!

2winFactor

Hi Webcored,

Thanks for purchasing my theme! I really appreciate it!

I’m not sure what could be going on. Did you double-check your spam folder to make sure the email didn’t end up in spam? The form uses WordPress’ built-in wp_mail function, which is the standard function used by all WordPress forms. Some hosts can block this functionality, so you could try another method of sending the email:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/

Otherwise, I would contact your host to make sure they allow mail to be sent via your WordPress installation.

As for spam, the contact form that comes with the theme has a simple spam prevention measure. if you’re looking for something more full-fledged, I would suggest using a free plugin like contact form 7 or ninja forms with more extensive options.

Awsome theme, 2winFactor. Only one question: is it possible to set 10 portfolio items in “all” category (in the homepage) but when you click on a specific category, some new items replace the items that don’t match this choosen category? In this case we would have 10 images in the portfolio area too. Thanks in advance

2winFactor

Hi Aroderik,

Thanks for purchasing my theme! I really appreciate it!

My apologies, I’m not exactly sure what you mean. Do you mean load new portfolio items when you click the filters above the grid as opposed to just filtering what’s there? Unfortunately, you’d need to make some customizations to the theme to achieve this. This type of alteration would go beyond the scope of support for the theme. Complex modifications like this will require you to implement the changes yourself or hire a 3rd party programmer to assist you.
