Hi chrisfay

Love your theme! Used it for a client and she’s very happy with it. One issue I had was with the Links page – it wasn’t looking quite like the rest of the pages (looked a bit broken, to be honest).

I managed to fix it by matching it up with the styling of your other pages, but I thought you might like to know as it’s an easy fix for you.

Thanks!

How do you edit the grids- for example the brands page, if i want to add more logos or less or have two columns vs. three or on the blog page 1 column vs. two it wasnt clear in the instructions

I didn’t add instructions as this would require a decent amount of modifications – you would need to modify the image size used, the css that achieves the grid layout, and the code logic in the page template that creates the actual markup (depending on whether you change the number of columns).

If you need assistance feel free to contact me directly for a quote…

I highly recommend this template. It’s clean and straight forward. If you want to check out what I’ve done, go to http://riversideelectricianpro.com

I had a few questions for Chris Fay, the designer, and I’m happy to report that he responded to me very quickly… usually within a few hours. That’s so important to a novice like me.

I give the template a 5 star rating!

Chris includes some good documentation… but I would add to it:

- When you upload the theme, check out Appearance – BigBrand options in the WP dashboard. It is here that you change the logo (I immediately dove into the CSS file and couldn’t figure out why my logo wasn’t showing up – it was because Chris made is super EASY to change the logo without messing w/ the CSS file… although if you need to change the size, you’ll need to edit the CSS file).

- If you need to know your page or post ID #, while in Firefox, hover over the post/page title in your WP Dashboard. In the bottom left corner of the browser, you’ll see a long URL w/ a # at the end… your page or post ID is that last #.

Thanks Chris for a great template and great support!

Hi,

Thanks for a great and quite unique theme!

So far im doing good tweaking it for my website, but I was wondering if its possible (yes I know its possible in the CSS codes) to remove the gap between the background and the content (with logo etc) It looks very what can I say, out of style :)

Thanks.

Thanks and glad you like it :)

I’m not sure what ‘gap’ you’re referring to – can you send a link/screenshot?

Hey, thanks for quick reply!

Yeah, I thought my explanation was kinda bad :)

Well, http://pivotal.no/ – thats the page (very WIP )

So you got the background, which is now blue and white – and you have the main content with logo, slideshow and text under there. To the left you got a huge gap of nothing, well its blue – but still it doesn’t quite look like I want it too, I would like it to appear the same on both sides. Can I determine this by padding-left? But where? :)

I hope you found my explanation better!

The division between the blue/white (in your case) is really just a massive centered background image (and some special css magic) – so you could theoretically shift that line around if you want to change the proportions by editing where the color change happens in the image (among some other alignment things in the css).

However, my primary point is, how much of that massive image gets displayed is dependent on the screen resolution – so in some cases only small bits of it will be, or in some cases almost all of it could be. This will change the size of your blue area of content for instance, which is really irrelevant, because your actual blue area of content that matters is col1, which is always 350px centered no matter what. It really makes it impossible for you to set the entire viewable blue content size to a static one without left aligning your theme if that makes sense.

I’d like to use the image function on the “logo” page, but I want to call my page something else. How can I change it so my page doesn’t have to be “logo”?

Thanks!

Sure thing – edit the page called ‘Logo’. You can call it whatever you want. The actual page title that displays on the page itself (Logos we’ve created.) is from a custom field called page_title further down on the edit page options – change that to whatever you need.

Thanks Chris. That works great. Is there an easy way to link those images? I would love to make them clickable.

Thanks again for such a great template.

I’m sure you could, but would require editing of the function that outputs the markup of those images in functions.php. You’d probably have to add the url you want to link with into some meta field of the image, then grab it in the function, and wrap the image with it, and output it in the markup.

Beyond any free customization for sure, but I could be available later in the week if you’re interested. Feel free to contact me directly if interested in a quote.

I’d recommend disabling any plugins you have activated as this is almost always the cause for that issue. Then you can enable them one by one to find the culprit.

This is probably a stupid question, but it’s a question nonetheless. I was wonder, are those tabs(Testimonial, logo) apart of the blog? Like is it in the wp-admin? or are those just .html pages? Can I go in some admin panel and edit those through there?

Looks like your images aren’t wrapped in anchors (links) anymore – the script activates on links, not images alone – so try wrapping each of your images with links and the rotator should work again. You can look at the rotator markup in the demo as an example of how the slideshow should look.

If you don’t want your images wrapped in links that’s fine – but you’d need to modify the rotator javascripts to activate only on img tags instead of anchors instead.

Looks great BTW !
