I want to use shortcodes and I’m tearing my hair out trying to figure out why its not working.
Are there any issues with this theme and v3.x?
Do I need to update the theme since I bought this theme before WP3 .0

yes, you need to upgrade the theme. here’s how. and there’s also a forum for the theme where you can search.
Heya, I love this theme. I was wondering would it be possible for me to only use it as my blog? So the blog is the homepage… If so, could I then remove the top tool bar? Cheers
the blog is the homepage by default. you can add/remove about everything with this theme.
Nice theme, is there any way to make the most recent blog post the homepage?
the most recent posts is the homepage by default. You can also add most recent posts with the bfthumbs shortcode to a custom designed frontpage.
Hello, i Have your theme more than a a year and was very happy with it. i made a lot of changes and all was good till today. it is gave me a message: Broken Themes
The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.

i didnt touched theme seting, just updated wp, what should i do? i am afraid that if i will re-install the theme, i will loose all my changes, any suggestion will be helpful. Thank you for your work and support.

you must unpack the downloaded zip file and install the bigfeature.zip file. more info here. There is also a forum for the theme.

Thank you for your answer , but did you saw my question? Plugin “Category Visibility-iPeat Rev” not working with latest version of WP i don’t see any topic about this on the forum. I am not bother you for nothing, i understand that you very busy and very appreciate your time. whats the reason to reinstall the theme if the problem is with plugin also , i made bunch of changes to the theme and really dont want to loose any with a new installation. I am probably wrong somewhere with my thoughts, therefore i am here asking for help. Many thanks.

yes, here’s instructions.
A colleague asked me to look at a problem he was suddenly having with the BigFeature theme. His client had been very satisfied with using this theme. After the WP installation on this site was upgraded to WordPress 3.1.2, the timthumb script is no longer working. As a result, broken images are displaying instead of thumbnails on his home page. I have been browsing these comments but have not seen this specific problem reported. Would you be able to advise? Thank you in advance…!
check the timthumb troubleshooting at the bottom of the html file in the docs folder. It’s probably just to create the cache folder and set the file rights. You can also search the forum, and I answer more frequently there.
you may want to check the read / write permissions of the timthumb cache folder

The only problem with the plugin is that it doesn’t work with the H1 Headlines used for articles. (all the other H2 H3 etc headlines work).
The reason so many people are excited about google fonts is that the load faster than cufon – and your excellent BigFeature theme is already VERY light and fast loading.
Any suggestions? There is a box for custom css but I wouldn’t know what to type to override your themes settings that are blocking the plugin from changing the font for the H1 headlines.

Use firebug to find what to manually target. Just using h1 and h2 will not work since the heading tags changes due to seo. They all have classes that can be targeted, and you can also see in the bf_cufon function (in library/functions/theme-functions.php) how cufon is targeted.
If this is to complex, then wait for the next version because I have implemented support for web fonts there (google fonts and typekit).

When making a new post the featured image dont show in Chrome, but it shows just fine in Internet explorer and Firefox. When using an old image from the media library it shows in Chrome

I checked the feature image in Chrome, but it shows just fine for me.

I found it it was only on my computer the problem was, and it helped to empty the cache, so its working fine now.
While i have you any way, maybe you can answer a little question i have, is it possible to remove the post dates from the BF recent posts widget ?
this css removes the dates on that widget (add to bottom of style.css):

well yes, the same way. just use Firebug to find the classes and hide it with display:none.
.recent-posts .date { display:none; }the dot is not removed though. you can instead enable the “Show recent posts as thumbnail posts” though, then the date can be turned off with “Show Meta info for Thumbnail posts”.

I’ve just bought the theme. And I’m working on a website that is supposed to look like the BF Area child theme.
My big problem is this one : I’ve followed your video on vfxdude.com and I’ve done everything you did, but my website still can’t show the default image of the first post on my homepage (the one supposed to be the bigger) + it shows 2 thumbnails post images but not entirely and the third is a broken image.
I’ve spent 2 days on this, I’ve verified my GD library: ok. I’ve changed my chmod permission etc… But nothing works.
