Man, no live preview, no purchase. You are fired.
jmm460says
No! Don’t fire me! Not in this economy!
So sorry I haven’t responded to a lot of comments. I’ve been really busy with other projects and haven’t even been on themeforest in a long time. This theme was my first wp theme ever, and it is definitely lacking in flexibility. It’s value, I think, lies in its uniqueness and the cross-browser compatibility of a difficult-to-achieve layout. To answer some questions: - There are no other pages- just this main design. - The only content that is editable is the main body text. - You could put images in there just as you would in any article or page. - It has not been tested with the latest version of WP - My newer theme, “Studio City” which I promised so long ago, is sitting in an unfinished state. I will try to make time to do it soon but currently all my design energy is going into my company’s website. - The main title always changes based on the name of the site/blog. Replacing this with an images is not something I’ve ever tried, but I suppose you could do some css trickery with the H1 tag… like display: none; background: url();... etc.
Thanks to all that have purchased. I hope you’ve found use for this very basic but unique little theme.

Looks really nice. Are there particular features for the ‘portfolio’? Would love to see a live preview.

This is under “Experimental” so let’s cut this guy some slack.
Having said that, jmm460, you should dedicate yourself to finishing this theme because the look is really good, nice and minimalist with just the right amount of flair.

@sparkingdawg – Thank you for slack cutting! I’m gonna work on this all day today! Anyone know how to alert all previous buyers of an update?
Hey I updated and resubmitted the theme finally based off everyone’s suggestions, and fixed some bugs. Hopefully TF reviewers will approve the update soon, but in the meantime, as a pseudo-preview, here’s a video I made to explain how to use it: www.jamesmalley.com/billyburg2.mov

can you show what it looks like with more than 3 portfolio posts? does the page stretch? scrollbars etc?
Also can you rotate the big images on every click, such as if you go to About, Contact etc? if you can thats brilliant.
The page just gets longer as of now- yeah scrollbar, but the background is static, so you never see the end of the BG image.
That also means as of now it doesn’t change with the different pages- that would be sweet though- I just don’t know about loading those humungo images each time… thoughts?

Hi jmm460,
Thnx for making this nice template. I like the cleaness of it. But I like to add a lightbox script to it.
When I use the following pluginns.
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-prettyphoto/
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/shadowbox-js/faq/
The website isn’t loading the .js scripts and the .css scripts so the scripts don’t work.
I also tried to implement prettyphoto in the theme map bij adding all the necessary files. In firebug I saw it loaded the .js files and .css files. But the script didn’t work either.
DO you know what is blocking these kind of scripts??
And is there away to fix it?
thnx,
W.
Watzpatzkowskisays
Ooh and when I use the default theme. The scripts are working and the .js and .css files get loaded.
So something is missing in the theme or is killing a script that is loading those files.
Watzpatzkowskisays
Ok get well soon! The inernets need you
Ok keep me posted about the conflict. Because I’m useing the template on a project for a band. And I really need a lightbox thingy.
Grtz,
W
@Watz Are you trying to use a lightbox wordpress plugin? If so, I may have found the problem. For some reason a key tag of code got deleted in my last template update.
In header.php, right before the closing head tag, you should insert the following:
<?php wp_head(); ?>
I will fix it in a future update but that’s the quick fix. That tag allows wordpress and wp plugins to modify the header code.
If you’re not trying to use a plugin, I don’t know what the problem would be. Hope that helps- let me know and thanks for your patience while I recovered!
UPDATE : Also, Watz, when you get your installation to a place you’re happy with, can you post a link so we can all see how you used the thing? Would be much appreciated
Watzpatzkowskisays
That did the trick! Thnx.
Jepp, when all is done I will post a link.
Thnx again! And good luck on modifying the template.

Hi jmm460,
Sorry to bother you once more.
But the template has stil got an issue with the prettyphoto lightbox script.
The body explodes (it gets 2wice as wide
.) When using the script in ie. Firefox and safari are ok.
I’ve never played around with a site that has a sticky body like this. Do you know how to prevent the body to change his width.
http://www.bluebaboon.nl/gooseberry/?page_id=7
hit one of the links and you wil see what happends in ie
thnx in advance,
Watzpatzkowskisays
it looks like the css for ie7 is being ignored
margin-left: -400px;
Because when I remove that line. The site is looking the same as when I run the prettyphoto script.
Don’t know if this can be fixed?
Watzpatzkowskisays
I still need some trouble shooting. De thickbox opens itself in the body.
Only in ie. Don’t know if there is anything we can do about that.
I’m also working on a mac. But once in a while I open ie to check out how a site is working in that browser.
thnx for your time,
W
Hi Watz,
I played around for a few hours, and googled around for a while more. No luck. As this layout is filed under “experimental,” it’s compatibility with certain plugins (while frustrating for me too) is not a sure thing.
I tried to create a version of this layout which uses a big div for the background instead of the body and html layers, to no avail. Either the layout breaks, or it doesnt and thickbox still doesn’t work.
I will look at this a little bit more, but if you find a solution please post it. I am trying some other lightbox scripts as well.
Watzpatzkowskisays
Hi jmm460
Thnx for your time. Really appreciat it. I tried some other thickbox script but al gave the same result.
I even tried a jQuery window. Which you can drag over the screen. http://www.socialembedded.com/labs/jQuery-Windows-Engine-Plugin/jQuery-Windows-Engine-Plugin.html
But it seems that ie connects those scripts (and their x and y positions) automatically to the .
If you find anything let me know! Because I really need those kind of scripts to work. In order to finish the project.
grt,
W
Ok Watz I have a theory based on what I found here: http://particletree.com/features/lightbox-gone-wild/
In your lightbox plugin (preferably lightbox 2 wordpress plugin), navigate to the plugin css file and where the lightbox style says position: absolute, add this after:
_position: fixed;
Yeah, keep that underscore. This may be a longshot, but it seems ie needs some special love and given that other people have had positioning problems with lightboxes in ie, this may be the answer, or at least lead you to the answer!
Let me know what happens.
EDIT : I see that you’re using some sort of div overlay now on that site. Case closed?
macpatricksays
Love the way you think outside the box. Would be nice to be able to click the portfolio image and go to the full size image or more images from that series.
Thanks mac. As per my long discussion with Watz, if I can figure out how to make lightbox plugins work with this theme, that would be a solution for gallery views.
I may give up on that though and include some sort of nifty pop-out jquery carousel thingy for the portfolio. I’m still experimenting.

Hi, I purchased this theme for my website, but I’m having problems with the footer. I’m sure this must be very simple to solve, but programming is not my area. Could you have a look:
http://www.tiposmoveis.com.br/?page_id=15
Thanks!
Camila
Hi tiposmoveis. Are you able to edit the code at all? The quick fix is this: In the index.php template, find the div with an id of “container”. At the bottom of that div, there is a div with the class of “push.” Just before that push div, insert 7 or 8 < b r / > tags. (without the spaces before “b” and “r”)
Thats the quick and dirty fix. I will have to correct it in a future update. Not sure why that’s happening to you, but I love the background image you’re using.
Email me if you need more help, and I can elaborate or send you a new index.php file.

Hi Jmm460,
I know a little bit of coding, so I was able to make the change you advised me, but it didn’t change anything… And I have to say that I even tried to put a little more br tags than you said and there was no difference… It would be great if you could send me a new index.php
The picture is great, isn’t? It’s a public library in Mexico. The picture is from Flicker (I’m using with permission of the owner).
Thanks!
Camila

Hi, I’ve send you an email a week ago so we could discuss the problem I’m having, did you get it? Thanks! Camila
Yikes. What’s the part of your email address that comes before the ”@” symbol? I need to search through my spam folder. Not sure why it would’ve gone there.
