Hi -

The most known problems with the slider is due to timthumb permissions. If you read the documentation there are Trouble Shooting Tips about this. Also if you are working on temporary files (which is your case) ( http:// servername / ~cpanelusername / site-folder ), the images will not work because when it whitelists the mod security rule that timthumb usually hits, it whitelists it by domain name, and since you are viewing by temporary url, the server does not see the domain name. It will work once its the domain.

Hi

Purchased Black and White built a demo site for my client worked like a champ. http://fashionablepress.com/wp/

Installed word press on the real site. Could not upload the theme from the wordpress admin. Used file manager and loaded the theme.

Exported the database from the dev site.

Loaded the db in the real site. Using WP import. Finished the config just like the dev site.

No images, slider or featured image previews. Only on pages. ?

At a loss.

Hi -

Something went wrong when you installed the WP. Once it worked on the test server means that the theme is ok. You should install the WP again on the real site (delete all tables from database before) and after this, choose the theme, import database and so on…

What should I do if I don’t wanna use timthumb.php for showing images?

Which file should be edited for taht?

I think it doesn’t work because timthumb.php needs GD Library installed on the server, let me ask them about this, if they don’t support that . I’ll ask you to change the code.

Ok… I still support my point of view… The problem is because you are working on temporary files ( http:// servername / ~cpanelusername / site-folder ). You are not the only one who had this problem on this kind of temporary files. It will work on the real domain. Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion for Black & white theme and my problems. I have installed wordpress three times prior to sending you the e-mail. I have to have the url forwarded to the dev site while I am sorting this out. where the site sites that I am having problems is http://www.guatemalareservations.com/wp-login pass word admin login pass

It appears very strange since I have loaded this dev site on another of my test sites worked first time. Install wordpress. Install the theme. Export from my dev site import. Setup in 20 minutes.

This one has me stumped.

Please try to change the permissions for the cache folder and timthumb.php file (read the documentation provided – I’ve explained there). If you won’t have any success then send me ftp details in private.(randf_projects@yahoo.com). Thanks and I’m glad you love the theme.

I’ve said above to change the permissions (777 or 755). Read the documentation. Also I’ve said to provide me ftp details to check myself the permissions in case you don’t managed. What can I do more? Read my replies more carefully. How can I help you if you didn’t provided me the ftp ????

Again: Once it worked on the demo site, it should work here also. There is no problem with the theme. Just follow the instructions. There are differences between hosting companies and if the real site is on another hosting then there are another server configurations for sure and the most known problem is with the permissions.

Well, now it’s working. Why? I changed the cache folder permissions as I said above multiple times. But it’s hard for you to read. Also I gave you above my email where you could sent me the ftp but again you didn’t see that. Anyway you could send me private emails from themeforest author profile, but again it’s very hard for you. If you don’t want the theme then please go ahead and give up to it.

There is not my fault and there is nothing to do with the template also. There is your fault because you don’t read the documentation and you are asking my help but you don’t read carefully my reply messages. You should be more patient and to do what was already specified, in order to do the things in a correct manner.

Awesome theme. I am using the Nvio homepage with the slideshow at the top. Is there any way to randomize the order of the images that it shows?

Hi -

For the top nivo slider, there is not such an option. You could only drag and drop the slider items from admin panel. For portfolio there is this option. When you generate the portfolio shortcode there is on the latest place “orderby” field. There you can choose “random order”. So you just need to add this: – orderby=”rand” – after – port_slide=”true” – or anywhere.

Hi, This theme would probably suit my project. One pre-purchase question: is it possible to get rid of the dotted effect on the background images? Oh, and is it possible to make the main content background more transparent – to show more of the background through? many thanks,

Yes of course… The dotted effect could be deleted from screen.css which is the theme main stylesheet. Just look for ”#dotted_bg” and delete the background. The bg for the content could be more transparent also. In the same file you need to replace “background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.9)” with “background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.7)”. So just replace 0.9 with 0.7 or something else depending your needs. This is the transparency… Thanks.

Hi.. I started developing the Website using Black & White Theme.. It is one of the Best Theme’s I have worked on.. I have a Couple of Clarifications here..

My First Clarification is, On the Top Menu, I get the Link Name alone and not the text below that, as in the Demo Site.. How do I get that..?

My Next Question is, How can I alter the Size of the Bar which holds the Logo and the Menu..?

Hi -

About the menu item descriptions it’s notified in the documentation folder provided and even in FAQ area of Black&White theme on Themeforest.

About the other question… there is an adaptive height depending of the logo or menu. So if you’ll have a higher logo, then that area will be heigher. However if you want to set the height then you can place these lines in screen.css from styles folder, or in wp admin General tab under RandF – Custom Css field.

I have a different clarification this time.. I actually wanted to move my complete website to a different domain.. So I exported all the Data’s through WP Export (XML) and took a DB Back up (SQL).. Now I installed WP and the Theme in the New Domain.. When I tried to import the XML file, I am getting only the Pages, Posts, etc., What ever configuration I have set up under RandF, is not there. I have even copied the uploads folder.

If I try to import the SQL file, it is pointing to the files of the Old Domain.

Your Suggestion would be of Great Help..

Well the WP Export/Import it’s working only for Pages, Posts, as you said above. If you have the old SQL Back Up, you’ll need to open it in an editor and replace the old site with the new one throughout all the database, in order to point to the new domain. After this you can upload the SQL on the new domain.

Hi -

First time you will need to build your portfolio posts. This is specified in the documentation provided “C. Add Portfolio Items”. After you read this there is a link : “Click to Learn how to Creating A Portfolio Page”. Click on it and you’ll find out how to create the portfolio page by using the portfolio shortcode.

When you create the portfolio items you can add categories to every post. Choose a category for the videos for example “sermons”. For every posts from this categoty you should add the video. Under the wp editor and shortcode generator area, there is “Portfolio Item Options”. You should choose video for “Portfolio Type” and place the link to your video for “Video Link for Lightbox”, then update.

Hello again..

I was using the Short Code for Slide Show, to display partner logos in the sidebar. The Short Code was working fine.

slideshow type=”slides” effect=”slide” easing=”easeInOutBounce” play=”5000” pauseTime=”5000” animSpeed=”500” controlNav=”false” hoverPause=”true” width=”275” height=”100” image url=”SOME_PATH”

But if I want to Link the Images in the Sliders to some URL , I was not able to do it. Can you help me on how to do that. It would be of great help in this case.

When you build the shortcode, there are two select fields “Order” and “Orderby”. You should choose “Descending order” for the “order” field and “Order by date” for the “order by” field. Simple… You can add these rules to you already built shortcode : -> order=”ASC” orderby=”date”
