I don’t know if this is a bug/ feature update. Applied the new updates. Now when accessing the site from a mobile device, photoswipe isn’t initialised. It just loads all the images on one page now. Same thing happens when I load the demo page off of themeforest.
This is being tested on an iphone5
The plugin didn’t support videos on smartphones, so a work-around was necessary in order to make the mobile version support the requested YouTube and Vimeo support for galleries. Once there will be an update for the plugin, or I stumble upon a similar plugin with video support, the function will be added to the template.
Seeing how I do not need video support, is there a way to implement the updates to the old version?
I added a new update: 1.2.1 that will check for videos in each category. It will show the photoSwipe if category only contains photos. If the category also contains video, the customized viewer will be shown (As the one you’ve seen). You can see online demo has been updated. Please be patient, the updated file will be available for download soon. If you aren’t sure which version you are using, look in first lines of main.js. Also, photo number for deeplinking has been fixed in version 1.2.1.
hi envo,
i downloaded updated version of theme, havent plugged in my data yet, but i tried your theme in internet explorer 64 bit it just shows as one page not as the demo?
please email me at edwyn@loveitballoons.com please thank you.
If you are using older versions of IE than version 8, the template will show like the “no javascript” version, a simplified version with missing features, as there are js functions used in the template that older browsers do not compile well.
If you are using IE8 + and still getting the error, please send me a demo on mail and I will take a look at it.
Is Their a code to enter for old browsers most people don’t have IE8 or configure this theme to work with previous browsers?
Is Their a code to enter for old browsers most people don’t have IE8 or configure this theme to work with previous browsers?
Sorry, there is no way to “force” older browsers to have the functionality of new browsers as the browsers simply does not support the features. The major functionality in the template is not supported by older browsers.
Javascript based websites made in 2012 (nearly 2013) are simply not supported by obsolete browsers from 2006 (IE7) as the functions would be so limited that it wouldn’t even be worth the time spending building them. That’s why more and more javascript-based websites is developed compared to back-in-the days. Mainly because web developers have the tools to build them, and visitors are using browsers that understands the code.
If people use versions older than IE7 you can use the code<!--[if lte IE 7]>Custom code or css file here<![endif]-->and add some custom code in the header to show a warning message. Could be an information saying that a newer version is needed in order to get the right user experience and an invitation/link to download newest version of IE.I don’t see any logical explanation why you would use an outdated version, when a new stable version is free and takes minutes to download. So rather than spending endless time trying to make something work for an outdated version, that btw was newer meant to work, then encourage your visitors to update – for their own sake. If they refuse to download it and stick with outdated version, well, then they suit themselves.
If you have further questions regarding the template, don’t hesitate contacting me. I will assist you in the best way I can.
envo you are right about people need to update their browser, just wanted to see if it was a easy fix or change thanks in advance
is their a limit of photos i can put in one category?
I’ve seen examples with 150+ photos in one category of the template online, so there shouldn’t be any issues having lot of photos. If you experience any limit, let me know and I will make a fix right away.
hey envo,
im taking off the photo caption off is this the right code if i just want to have the picture.
Please put your scripts inside a
<code>code here</code>block in order for me to see it.Does this theme not work in Chrome? The live preview is a mess, but I always use Chrome, and I don’t remember this being the case two days ago. Thanks.
The template has been tested with all browsers described in item description to the right, and no issues with browsers have appeared. If you experience any, please send me a mail with browser, version, screenshot and description of what’s not working.
Also, where are the updates the above user is discussing? Thanks.
Simply download the template again for newest version (1.2.1) with new fixes.
The live preview is also not working in Firefox. Please advise. Thanks.
I will refer to my answer on your former chrome question to answer this one as well.
One last thing: the site works great in IE. With the nav on the bottom, and the photos on top. I can send a screenshot, if you’d like, showing what it looks like in Chrome and Firefox. Thanks.
Yes, please send a screenshot with the issue you experience. Also, please “Post reply” on your comments/questions instead of adding new ones for further questions, so I can see history of our conversation. Thanks
Hello. Where do I send a screenshot?
I will be installing the update tonight, but you’re right… the live preview worked well in all of my browsers recently, then it didn’t. It seems as though the mobile version pops up. I have taken a screenshot.
Thanks, Justin
Go to my profile, and send me a mail (bottom right) with a link to the screenshot. If you can’t upload and link, simply send me a message and I will reply with my mail where you can attach the screenshot so I can take a look at it. Also, a url to your website for live check would make it easier to troubleshoot.
envo,
it works the update worked wonders thank you very much!!! my photo galleries are working good and i loaded 50 photos in one category!!!
My pleasure. I’m glad to hear you got it worked out
www.nuelook.com
for some reason contact form keeps coming through empty? however sometimes it works
Please describe what’s not working as it works fine on my version. Also, check on another server (or locally with mail-setup) to check if it it’s the server that won’t send the mail as it works fine for me online and offline.
Has anyone ever put music on their theme?
Hey Envo,
disregard all my other comments everything is working good awesome updates!!! do you have the code to put music in and is it compatible?
Hey again, Glad to hear you got it all working and my last update did the trick. Regarding the music, I have not prepared any music player for the template. If you want your website to play music, you’ll have to find a third-party plugin and integrate it in the code.
Your right, thanks.
If I look at the site with ipad, the first gallery is not flowing as the second, and I would both go as the second, What should I change?
Are you referring to the online demo or your own website? Please send me a mail with link to your website using the template. The online version has been tested on iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones and tabs. Unless you’ve edited the code it should work flawless.
I refer to the online version. I discovered that the problem is the presence of a video in the gallery. Without the video also the first tunnel runs as the second, can be solved?
That is a fix I updated on v.1.2.1 so hand-hold devices support videos as well.
“Added new feature that checks for videos in each category. If the category does not contain any videos, the photoSwipe function will be initialized. If the category contains videos, the customized previewer will be initialized. This fix is made as PhotoSwipe does not support videos. Please notice, this only affects mobile versions.”
The photoSwipe plugin does not support videos so I had to make a tweek that would check for videos and make the custom fix if any videos was detected. This fix is mandatory in order to make the template support videos on devices.
If you for some reason want to remove it, which I see no point in as videos won’t work on devices, then go to main.js and change line 264+268 to “photoSwipe = true;”
the updated version is working great i all my pictures are working good. thanks again. but im putting them in theme as 150 dpi and making them small pictures but in full site my picture is being zoomed in like the bottom or top of picture gets cut off? do u have a dpi size i should use or inches my image size should be? Can i also change the color of the blue line above the categories im looking for the section that we can change the color but i cant find it at all, all i see is a footer but thats the black part behind categorie names. Also the blue like between the picture count like 1 /(blue) 5.
thanks in advance.
Glad my update solved it.
Regarding the pictures. Dpi is irrelevant when displaying images online as the web browser shows the actual pixels. Dpi is for print only. But when creating a a new image in your photo software, I would suggest using 72dpi, as that is the actual size of the image for web.
The template is increasing/decreasing all photos, so the photo will always be 100% height, no matter what size the original photo is. In my demo, you can see the largest photo I’ve used (First category, 6th photo) is originally 1740×1117 pixels. Any size will do it. Just remember that all screens have more width than height, so width should always be larger than height, then any size should work.
Play around with it and let me know if you still have problems fitting the photos. Send me a link to your page through my mail if you have any trouble with the photo sizes.
Regarding the color, check the updated documentation and find the “Theme customization” section. You can see all the settings you can use to customize your template. Use “maincolor” to change the main color. The line above categories/under the photos and the seperator between photo count IS included in the maincolor option, so simply change the maincolor value, and both colors will be changed.
Hi Envo, fantastic template! Is it possible to add a submenu? It would be very important to have the subcategories…
thanks in advance max
Hi Max, Thank you for your kind words.
Unfortunately it is not possible to add submenus to the template. You can integrate a tab and use it as submenu but it is not in template defaults to use submenus. If you would use it, I would suggest to avoid using as tab that uses hashtags as it will break code standards for deep-linking.
Hello, thanks for update. But i´ve got little problem. When the browser window is small, layout doesn´t show images. Can you please help me?
Thanks
My pleasure. Please specify what you mean by the browser window is “small”. I need to fully understand the issue before I can help you out.
Im using half of the screen size for browser window. On PC, it is about 900px (width). The web is not showing images, only menu for mobile devices and the circle with cursor instruction. The same is on Mac OS. Try reduce the width of browser and reload.
iPhone, iPad, Firefox – OK
Thanks
If you are using v.1.2.1:
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/adapt.js"></script> <!-- Adapt for hand-hold devices -->from index.html – Bottom of the code, right before body close-tag.This will be removed with next update as well, as it does no longer needs to check for window-width because it is using user-agent instead for mobile devices. In this way you will have the desktop of the template even though your resize on your desktop version. Mobile version will still remain for hand-hold devices.
Yes, it works! Thank you.
How much changes will be in next update and when it will be released?
My pleasure.
The next update will feature progressively loading which is optimal if you are using a large amount of pictures, and also works better on hand-hold devices. Also a few add-ons and minor bug fixes. It will be released within next couple of days so stay tuned.
Greetings Envo,
I enjoyed working with your theme, I have a coding request:
I would like to highlight the middle image instead of the left most image. How should i do it ?
Hi punjabigeek,
Thank you very much.
When you change the photo the selected photo will appear in the middle of the screen and should be highlighted so I don’t understand the issue. Please specify the issue with the highlighted image so I can take a look at it.
how does the deeplinking for seo work?
There is no htaccess file to support the url’s giving with deeplinking. Deeplinking was build so you can link directly to a photo and not for seo purpose. I will consider this for next update though.
please do!!!!
I found the following problem on iPhone safari with live demo version: 1 – load the page 2 – click on creative, and scroll down a couple of pictures 3 – back 4 – Go to “about” 5 – scroll down the page
As you can see the content is cut in half of the third image, what can I do?
Hi develup,
An update will be available beginning of next week that will fix all minor bugs for responsive version including the one you requested. Also a lazyload has been combined with the pre-load so the loading will be way faster as it will only load the photos that the visitor will see instead of all the photos. A few other minor bugs has been fixed. New documentation will include all the required information for the update.
Stay tuned…
Thanks, looks impatient for the update
Greetings Envo,
I have figured out the way to do it.
Another issue that i wanted to resolve,
I would like to remove the next previous arrow on homepage.. How do i do it ?
Hi punjabigeek,
I’m glad to hear you got it figured.
There is no default option for that, but it’s quite easy to achieve in 2 simple steps.
1. Modify main.js
Edit Line 552 & 553, and overwrite the existing lines with these:if($('#'+$.settings.category+'.items li.active').next('li').length>0) { /*$('#next').fadeIn(250);*/ } else { $('#next').fadeOut(250); } if($('#'+$.settings.category+'.items li.active').prev('li').length>0) { /*$('#prev').fadeIn(250);*/ } else { $('#prev').fadeOut(250); }2. Modify style.css
Line 59: (For #next & #prev) Change it from display:block; to display:none; That should do the trick. Let me know if you experience any trouble with the modification.
