Hi, I want to add an image slideshow which is given in the below url

http://www.gopiplus.com/work/2011/05/08/wordpress-plugin-image-horizontal-reel-scroll-slideshow/#.UDy5fcHiYqo

I have already installed this plugin. This plugin can be displayed using shortcodes. How can I display it in home page using layout editor

der
der Author

You can use the Content Component and add the shortcode in your Homepage layout. For more info about using the Layout Editor, consult the documentation.

Additionally, for any support questions, please refer to the Support Forums, as ThemeForest comments are better for pre-sales questions.

What are the chances of this plugin working with your site? http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/advanced-ajax-page-loader
der
der Author

Plugins are guaranteed to work with the theme, as long as they don’t have any bugs. The theme implements the WordPress plugin API , as it is enforced by standards. If the plugin works on Twenty(Ten|Eleven), it works with Blocked.

P.S.: Just tested and the plugin is broken.

Default-user

I have had this Plugin working with Twenty Eleven and another theme. When you say that it is broken, would it be possible that it just needs to be setup with its on div class for the content window?

der
der Author

The plugin (tested with version 2.5.12) is broken. Try it with any theme, and check the JavaScript console for the error logs. The reload_code.js file is missing. Such file is needed in order for the plugin to work.

To anyone considering purchasing this theme: In the words of Nike, “Just Do It!” Blocked is really amazing!

We have little to no “real” active experience with Wordpress powered sites and themes and Blocked is so packed full of features and so user friendly that we are already getting the hang of it. The hardest thing we’ve encountered so far is going through the long list of robust features and figuring out some little tweaks that would work best for us, which are probably common sense to people who have used Wordpress for years, unlike us.

We’ve always just coded are own basic websites with that Crutch called Dreamweaver with the help of our developer friends. Finally, one of them told us that Wordpress was the way to go now. We asked him how to proceed and jokingly he said he shouldn’t have to tell us because that’s how easy it was. Jokingly!

But he was right. We did a little reading and looking around, purchased some hosting and Ernie’s amazingly fantastic theme and in a few short hours our current web presence blows away anything we’ve ever had in the past.

Our hat is off to Ernie and the Blocked theme! And the support Ernie provides in the support forums on his site is also deserving of so much praise, big thanks!

Hi, just purchased the theme and have the same issue as fdu4:

“Add button in layout editor not work. Mac OS 10 .8 safari, chrome, mobile safari iOS.”

...I have tried Opera, Chrome and IE9 on Win 7. None of the buttons are working, except the config buttons for header/footer.

I also noticed that when on the Layout page, the other Wordpress menu items do not function properly (sub-menus for menu items, e.g. “Appearance”, do not display).

Would love to get some advise – not only because I just paid for this thing, but also because it looks so good :)

With thanks, Simon

Hello Simon,

It appears there’s a JavaScript issue with your admin. This could be caused by a broken plugin interrupting JavaScript execution.

This issue has already been diagnosed in the Support Forums. Check out the current discussions about the layout editor not working and you should be able to get it to work.

If not, please post a new discussion and I’ll follow up there.

Regards,
Ernie.-

Technically not. I think you could use a slogan & button for that.

I just built a site with this theme and it went very smoothly until today. I was working with some info in the Layouts and when I “Saved Layouts” instead of saving, it completely deleted all my Layout data! YIKES . I went back, recreated and it did it again about 3/4 the way through the changes. After that, I started backing up after every couple of changes and it did it three more times. Luckily, I kept backing up and replacing the json file until I got everything changed back and backed up. Now, I don’t know if it’s my internet resetting the connection (I just had a new dish installed yesterday and the problem coincides with that) or if it’s something to do with the theme. Have you ever experienced this before? Any suggestions?

Hi there.

Hmm, seems like some server data is being cut off when being sent to your server. Please head over to the Support Forums and send me a private message and include temporary admin credentials to your site. I’ll have a look.

I’ve seen this happen when servers have strict security restrictions about POST data being sent. Apologies for any issues caused.

Hi – theme looks great – In chrome, the footer BG (in your themeforest live preview site) isn’t displaying, could you advise what’s happening there? – Is there glitches with some browsers?

der
der Author

Hi, this is strange. Maybe the server was having connection issues. I’ve checked it and it works fine. You can check browsershots.org and test the site from there.

Also, you can load the preview using armyproxy.com to test using a proxy. Additionally, try using another computer or operating system and see if the issue perists.

Can’t call this a glitch unless it can be replicated in multiple environments.

Yeah – it was fine on Safari, and Explorer on PC, but I have a quick turnaround job and your theme looks a treat – you’ve got a sale regardless! – Just wanted to check if there were any known bugs ;) – Thanks for the quick reply.

hey. nice theme indead

a pre-order question: i want to make a portfolio that when i click on a pic i go to another gallery, and there for each picture i need to create a download button to a file (not the pic). is it possible at all? hope u understand my question.. thanks

der
der Author

Howdy. Yes, what you’re asking is possible. You just add a Portfolio Gallery and make sure the lightbox is disabled. This way the thumb will point to the post itself, where you can use the button shortcode to create the download link.

Hi! I was looking for a long time for a theme for my project and I believe that finally I have found it :) Great theme! I like it.

I have also some pre-order questions:

The project is about old photographs ( a collection of almost 600 photographs ) of my hometown and I want to present them sorted by locations. So for each location I want to create an own page. Is it possible for example, that when you click on “portfolio” in the menu appears a list like for example “Brooklyn”, “Manhattan”, “Bronx”, etc. and each page has a different gallery of photographs?

Another question: Is it possible to indicate on the google map the exact position of a historic building and share it on the page next to the gallery of photographs of that building?

Thank you very much. Greetings from Germany.

der
der Author

Hello, glad you like the theme!

1) Yes, you can do that by using the Layout Editor. You would need to create a sidebar for each of the locations, and then assign a widget specific to each location. The widget would contain the Google Map.

You can also create a portfolio of images, in which each image will point to a specific gallery too.

2) Yes, you can specify the exact position, as long as you know the coordinates. There are easy ways to find it too.

Overall, having a good understanding of the theme will help a lot achieving this. And blocked is specially good at what you’re trying to do.

I would recommend watching the tutorial video from start to finish, to get the most out of the theme, you’ll like it.

Best Regards,
Ernie.-

Is it possible to make the theme even wider than 960 for lager screens and enlarge the fonts also ? Is it easy ?

der
der Author

Howdy Thomas:

1) The theme would need to be customized for that. Since it is based on a grid, this may break things if not done right. It’s not impossible but a bit challenging.

2) Yes, the fonts can be enlarged either by tweaking the overal font size on the theme’s typography optiosn, or by tweaking manually via the Custom CSS field.

I do provide support (on the forums) and answer pre-sales questions here from monday to friday on EST (GMT-0400). Your question was posted during the weekend, therefore, it was not answered until now: monday at 8:40 am.

Also, if you check the comments before you, you will be impressed with the amount of support I provide (not to brag about it, but I dedicate a good amount of time to answer your questions).

I have a question, i have just stumbled upon this theme as i was going to buy another but i love the layout editor on this theme.

One thing i havent seen though is the ability to have links to pages on the layout editor. I would like an image link to go to a page or an external site rather than a post, is this possible??

der
der Author

Yes, you can do that using the Content component. It allows you to add any content (including shortcodes). This means you can add an image that points to any URL you want.

what about RTL ? do u have support for it?? thanks

der
der Author

The theme would need to be customized to have RTL Support. You can hire a developer that can do the modification for you. This wouldn’t be too hard to achieve.

I recommend publishing the content first, then having the developer tweak the theme using the Custom CSS field. This way you won’t lose the modifications when the theme is updated.

— or —

A child theme can also be used to tweak the header.php and include the RTL Stylesheet that would handle the changes. The developer can use the theme’s live preview data to have all the components used by the theme.

Default-user

heres an option for you- we work alot with WP in israel, and i think that if u release a RTL version, you can get much more clients.. anyway, i like your theme and im between 2 now, and yours in the lead :)

der
der Author

I wish I had the time honestly, but I’ll think about it!

Trust me, this wouldn’t be difficult to achieve with decent CSS skills.

Hi again,
Is the css you provide ordered in a way so all elements regarding size and the 16 columns grid are placed next to one another. And perhaps a media query, so that this is the only thing that has to be changed for larger sized screens ?

der
der Author

The theme uses the Skeleton CSS Framework as its foundation for the responsive behaviors. Making changes to the underlying column grid would involve editing skeleton.

You have a responsive.css stylesheet (provided by skeleton) which handles the styles for each size (that is, the media queries).

You can use the theme’s Custom CSS feature which allows you to add any code using the theme’s admin. That includes media queries as well.

— or —

You can use a child theme and specify your CSS Overrides in your own stylesheet, containing the media queries and all that.

But, be warned: For the type of changes you’re requesting, a decent knowledge of CSS is required to achieve it.

I think i know the answer to this but want to be sure, can you use the LayerSlider – The Parallax Effect Slider (http://codecanyon.net/item/layerslider-the-parallax-effect-slider/922100) as the slideshow instead? I just want to be sure even though i think you will say yes!

der
der Author

The theme provides the Content component, in which you can add any shortcode or HTML code. Then, it will render the contents in the layout slot in which you have the Content component.

Now, have in mind that the theme inserts the contents into a container which is responsive by default, but the content you add must be responsive as well.

If the content you’re adding is responsive (e.g.: doesn’t have a fixed width, and responds to width changes) then you’ll be good to go.

The answer is yes. You can implement having the things outline above.

hi, theme looks great – it’s the type of slider i’ve been looking for for a long time – i.e. the blocked slider version which shows next and previous ghosted slides to edges. Q: how does this slider deal with narrower images? do they all have to be the same fixed width? ideally i’d like it to center narrower images in the space. i presume it’s possible to put custom URL links on the captions? and is it possible to randomise the order of the slides? can video embeds (vimeo/you tube) be placed in the slider sequence too? does it progressively load images in sequence? or all at one on page load? sorry for all the Qs! thanks! chris

der
der Author

Hi.

1) The default slider is full width by default, which means that images must be at least 960 pixels wide. Then, they will be adjusted to the tablet & mobile resolutions.

2) Yes, you can add any URL to your captions. The slides are created using the Gallery manager (as well as posts), in which you can specify the description and URL .

3) All sliders only accept images, not videos. You could use an external slider or plugin for that, and insert it into your site using the Content component.

4) This is not done by default. You could use custom javascript to randomly alter the images on load.

5) They load in the order of appearance in the page, not loaded in the background.

tallhat

thanks for your responses, very useful. what is the ‘blocked slider’ based on – is it a well known library or a completely bespoke component for this theme? as this is a key feature of my site architecture i have a couple more queries about the carousel before purchase:

1) because the images we need to put into the slider carousel need to have text on we need to avoid them cropping as they do on your test site at smaller viewport widths. we need to retain the aspect ratio at all resolutions and simply scale the images within the component based on the viewport width. is this possible? happy to pay extra for customisation if it’s tricky.

2) we want to turn the image captions off – it is possible to put the custom URL links on the actual images in the carousel? thanks!

der
der Author

The Blocked Slider has been developed exclusively for the blocked theme. I sat down and pulled my hair off for a few weeks to get it done :P

1) The default slider behaves exactly as seen in the live preview. I think what you’re asking for would only be achieved customizing the theme. I am unable to handle customizations due to time constraints, but you could always hire a developer to do the change for you.

2) Yes, if you don’t want the image captions just don’t specify a description in the gallery manager when adding the slides. Adding the URL to the slide images should be possible by using some Custom JavaScript code.

ANother question i have just thought of. Is it possible to change the background colour generally and also on individual pages, so that they have a different theme colour? Also what about some of the boxed elements could these be changed to a different colour so say 2 boxes on the page with text in them that are red on the white background (or whatever colour background it may be) is this possible?

der
der Author

You can change the background color and image for the whole site using the Color Editor.

To change the color of several areas of your site, you can add Custom CSS via the admin panel to override the background for the sections you want.
