Hi, in a text type post, how can i remove tumbnail from appearing on the grid or how do i implement a title and tumbnail. As for now it just show the tumnail in front of the text and it looks weird. Here’s the blog im working on.

http://notanagency.tumblr.com/

Thanks, love the theme

PixelMoxie

You’re welcome. That’s not possible at the moment. How do you think that would work best, to have an image cover the thumbnail for text posts (just like photo posts, optionally of course) and then hide it on the details view?

Default-user
Chespyg Purchased

Yes exactly like that. I know its more a portfolio than a blog but it would be a nice feature to add. My idea is to build specific thumbnail images with something related to the post or a graphic with the title on it so they got a visual idea of what’s the post about.

PixelMoxie

Thanks, that’s what I thought. I’ll try to sneak it in on the next update. Cheers!

Hi!

Loved this theme, but I’d like to change the “homepage hero” font size. Where in the code can I do this, please?

And one more thing: why the pics on my website (www.appresenta.com.br) are not displayed in the same size and position as seen on the demo?

Thanks a lot!

PixelMoxie

Please add the following snippet the the “Add custom CSS” box:

.align-left {
    float: left;
    margin: 0 1em 1em 0;
}

and then add the `align-left` class to your image:

<img ... class="align-left">

I’ll add some helper classes to the next update to help deal with cases like this one.

Let me know if that helped!

Wow, amazing, man! You helped me so much! Sure, classes like that can help a lot customizing the theme. Many thanks again! :D

PixelMoxie

You’re welcome buddy! Cheers :)

Just wanted to say thank again for such an amazing theme. I love the way it looks and i’m already stoked to start showing it off. Now that you’ve also added the ability to browse through the posts in the ajax viewing mode, it’s a total winner.

have a look! http://ezduzit.ca/

PixelMoxie

Thanks for the very kind words, Eric! Glad to hear you’re happy with the theme.

Great works on your portfolio :)

Hello,

I am thinking about buying this theme and I have a couple of questions after reading the documentation.

Can I assign more than 9 categories to filter projects? How many projects can be displayed in a filtered category?

Thanks in advance.

Alexandros

PixelMoxie

Hi Alexandros,

Thanks for your interest in Bloq.

The theme supports up to nine categories for the portfolio filter, but it isn’t hard to customize it to add more categories. I’ve done it for a few customers and can help you out with that.

The initial number of displayed posts, both for filtered and unfiltered posts, is defined by the “posts per page” setting on the customization dashboard, and the maximum is fifteen. After that you’ll get a “Load More Projects” to display the rest of the posts.

Cheers!

Hi Sergio,

I just purchased Bloq and I can’t wait to test drive it! It looks very cool!

In the meantime can you please tell me how I can add more categories for the portfolio filter?

Thanks you and keep up the good work!

Hi Alexandros,

Thanks for your purchase!

Just send me a message via the contact form on my profile page, and let me know how many additional categories you need, plus which version of the theme you plan to use (dark or light).

Hi! I’ve purchased the theme and the design seems great. I have a question: Is possible show more than ten posts on the home grid? (I mean something like infinite scrolling) Thanks in advance!

PixelMoxie

Hi there!

On the “Advanced” section of the customization sidebar (way down), you’ll see an select box to set the “Posts per page”. The max allowed by Tumblr is fifteen. Bloq doesn’t support infinite scrolling at this time, so if you have more posts, you get a button to load the next page of posts.

Cheers!

Hi!

Loving the theme, just a quick question. Is it possible to remove the homepage slider and call-to-action when clicked in a custom link that I’m using for news. It’s just a /tagged/news page but the homepage slider and call-to-action still appears.

Cheers!

PixelMoxie

Hi Jorge,

Edit your theme file, and around line 521, before the closing </style> tag, paste the following:

{block:TagPage}#banner-slider, #call-to-action { display: none; }{/block:TagPage}

Let me know if that helps,

Hey! I really like Bloq <3 Great job! :)

Is there any way to use latin-extended characters?

PixelMoxie

Hi there,

Thanks for your purchase!

The ability to use subsets for Google fonts will be added on the next update, but it can be done now with a slight change to the theme. Of course the chosen font needs to include the “latin-extended” subset.

Please message me using the form on my profile page and include a link to your site.

Hi! I recently bought this amazing theme, and everything seems to go well. But i still can’t figure out the way to make the images in my posts don’t look sooo big. they’re at their original size and i don’t like that. I want them to be smaller and with their explanation at the right side as they look in the preview demos. How can i change that? Thank you! :)

PixelMoxie

Hi there!

It’s right here on the docs: http://goo.gl/r5Ll3m

You simply need to use the `left-media` or `right-media` tags on your post to float the main content to the left or right, respectively.

I hope that helps :)

Default-user

Thanks! It is solved, though i thought there was a particular option to make this once and for all the posts. I’ll have to specify this on each one then. Thanks for answering that soon!

PixelMoxie

Yeah, it’s set on a per-post basis, but you can use Tumblr Mass Post Editor to add or edit tags for all your posts at once:

http://staff.tumblr.com/post/746164238/mega-editor

Look for “Mass Post Editor” when viewing your blog on the dashboard.

Hi Sergio,

I am trying to incorporate Jack Moore’s jQuery zoom plugin to enlarge my photos http://www.jacklmoore.com/zoom/

So far I have managed to get it working on the plain permalink pages with the following code: <script> $(document).ready(function(){ $('.post-media').zoom(); }); </script>

But I can’t figure out how to make it work on the Ajaxified Permalinks. I tried using .ajaxComplete() without joy. Can you help?

Thanks, Alexandros

Hi Sergio,

Thanks for your help! You are amazing!

I have one more question. How can I use the latin and greek subset of a google font? I’ve already changed the font family to Open Sans with this bit of code _families.push('Open Sans:300,400,600,700,300italic,400italic,600italic,700italic');
PixelMoxie

Hi Alexandros,

An option to choose a script subset for Google fonts is in the works for the next update.

In the meantime, try replacing that line of code for:

_families.push('Open Sans:300,400,600,700,300italic,400italic,600italic,700italic:latin,greek');

Let me know if that works!

Hey man, great setup you’ve done here, and i’m loving it! A page i’ve made is here: http://adamnants.tumblr.com/ It’s still a bit of a work in progress and i’ve got a few newb questions if that’s ok?

1. At the moment i’ve made that intro copy an image in the slider. i’d love to make it in your hero, or call to action style, but i find the font is rather large.. is there a way to reduce the font in size easily? I tried using H4 as a better size but i didn’t know how to change it from all caps.

2. Love that i can thumbnail audio and video. What’s the best pixel size plus image safe area for a normal size frame in the portfollio? Mine are just looking a little fuzzy and get a tiny bit cropped at the moment.

3. Is there a way i can add thumbnails to my photos too? I guessed at trying to use the same method i did with audio posts and video but with no luck.

And finally 4. I don’t suppose you know how i can post multiple songs onto one page do you? i’d love to just have say.. ‘Cyberbullying’ as one Campaign rather than how i have it at the moment as 1, 2, 3 posts.

Thanks so much by the way, was super quick and easy to get all the rest of this done, and i’ve never used tumblr before! Chat soon - Ants

PixelMoxie

Hey Ants,

Thanks for the kind words!

1. To make the CTA and page hero text smaller, try pasting the following snippet into the “Add custom CSS” box on the customization sidebar:

#page-hero p,
#call-to-action p {
    font-size: 80%;
}

You can try a smaller percentage, but keep in mind that these blocks aren’t meant to accommodate large blocks of text.

2. If your thumbs are square, images at 500×500 should be fine. They may look a little fuzzy because they’re being scaled down to fit the thumb, but there’s no way around that with responsive designs. The images on the thumbs are scaled up a little bit, to avoid that, use the following code snippet:

#portfolio-grid .image-wrap {
    -webkit-transform: none;
    -moz-transform: none;
    -o-transform: none;
    -ms-transform: none;
    transform: none;
}

3. Right now there’s no way to use custom thumbnails for photo posts. The first image on the post will be used for the grid-

4. There’s not a native way in Tumblr to have more that one audio file per post, but if you use SoundCloud you could try embedding several players into the post caption? That’s just an idea, I’m not sure how good that will look…

I hope that helps!

Cheers,

Sergio

Hi. I’m trying to enable the Instagram widget however the Retrieve my Details link at http://projects.craftedpixelz.co.uk/jqinstapics/ doesn’t seem to return anything. The transparent titles code works perfectly – thanks. But the code for scaling of Instragram images in the widget doesn’t seem to do anything at all. Just curious, why not make the widget square to conform with IG?

PixelMoxie

Sorry, the code for the IG images wasn’t meant to make the entire image fit into the widget or to make the widget square. It’s just that the theme scales the images up a tiny bit inside the containing area, an they’re cropped a few pixels on the sides as well. It was meant to reset that scaling.

The widget blocks are meant to be rectangular and that was a design decision from the beginning. It they were square they’d take a lot more vertical space.

Cheers!

Hello I’m wondering if it is possible to display a particular category as the first on the ajax portfolio menu instead of “Everything” or to be able to ship the “Everything” down to the end of the menu. When there are many posts of text (Category for news, updates, etc.) side by side, give a monotonous feeling.

PixelMoxie

Hi,

Because on page load all posts are displayed without filtering, “Everything” needs to be the first item on the dropdown. If you have many text posts next to each other, you can reorder them by changing their publication date on the dashboard. Tip: setting the date to “now” pushes a post to the very top.

Cheers :)

Hi.

Hi! I recently bought this awesome theme. I was just wondering if there is a way to move social links icon into navigation bar, like showing them instead of search icon.

Thank you

Default-user

Thank you for your reply. One more question, is it possible to add a photo tumbnail for the text post on the grid (instead of text & “continue reading”) ?

PixelMoxie

I’m sorry to have to say no again :(

If an image is the first thing on your text post, it will show up on the thumbnail, but it won’t look like a photo post, for example.

If possible, try to use a “photo” post and paste the text into the post caption.

Default-user

Ok, thank you. will try to do that :( But it’s still an awesome theme!

Hi there, love the theme!

I was just wondering which part of the HTML I have to edit/remove in order to get rid of the ‘Load More Projects’ button at the end of the page, because I don’t need it and it does not load anything as I have disabled the portfolio.

Thanks!

PixelMoxie

Hi there,

If you uncheck Enable Ajax Post Loading you’ll get the regular “Next Page” and “Previous Page” links instead of the “Load More Projects” button. I hope that does it, I’m not sure what you mean when you say you disabled the portfolio. Otherwise, share a link to your site so I can take a look

Thanks, that helped me do what I wanted! One last thing, is it possible to centre images? Because even if I select the ‘Middle’ alignment option, the images still appear on the left of the screen.

Thanks!

Here is an example of what I mean, all of these images are aligned to ‘Middle’ – http://keoganphotography.com/shop/bw

PixelMoxie

Hi there,

Images that size will probably look better left-aligned anyway, but that’s my humble opinion :)

If you install the latest version of Bloq (v1.1.0), you will be able to add the class ‘text-align-center’ to the containing paragraph to center the image inside. If you haven’t made any changes to the theme HTML, just replace the code in the HTML editor with the contents from the newer file.

Cheers!

Hi,

Is there a way to add a kind of “sentence/slogan” for my website on the title bar, on top of the browser? In my case, it only displays the title (“Appresenta” – www.appresenta.com.br) nor even the Tumblr description. Thank you!

PixelMoxie

Hi there,

Go to line 37 on the theme file — the one that starts with <title> — and replace the entire line with the following:

<title>{Title}{block:IndexPage}{block:Description} - {MetaDescription}{/block:Description}{/block:IndexPage}{block:SearchPage} — {lang:Search results for SearchQuery}{/block:SearchPage}{block:PermalinkPage}{block:PostSummary} - {PostSummary}{/block:PostSummary}{/block:PermalinkPage}</title>

Hello. I just purchased the theme and love it. I just wanted to ask a few questions about how to customize it even further. the site in question is makebloom.tumblr.com

1- It is possible to make the category menu smaller as a whole. We love that we have categories But feel like the bar that reads ‘everything’ and it’s menu are too big. It feels bigger than our logo at this point.

2 – we want all text to be lower case. the links at the top that read ‘about’, ‘contact’, and ‘blog’ should be lowercase. we wrote them out lowercase but it seems that the theme gives everything a capital. It also appears that the tags (catagory tags) are in uppercase to even when we type them in lowercase.

3- we would love to get rid of the plus sign that appears on the grid hover. Can we change it to something else or remove it all together?

I think that is is for now. :) Thanks in advance for all your help. Fabian

PixelMoxie

Hi Fabian,

Thanks for your purchase!

Please paste the following code into the “Add custom CSS” box at the bottom of the customization sidebar. That should make the portfolio filter a tad smaller, and accomplish the other things you need:

/* Smaller portfolio filter */
.cd-dropdown, .cd-select {
    max-width: 280px;
}
.cd-dropdown > span {
    height: 50px;
    font-size: 18px;
    line-height: 50px;
    padding: 0 50px 0 20px;
}
.cd-dropdown > span:after {
    width: 50px;
    height: 50px;
    line-height: 50px;
}
.cd-dropdown ul li span {
    padding: 0 20px;
    line-height: 50px;
}

/* Lowercase navigation and tags */
#main-navigation a,
#portfolio-grid .categories span {
    text-transform: lowercase !important;
}

/* Kill the plus sign */
#portfolio-grid .plus {
    display: none !important;
}

Cheers!

Glad I could help! Please remove the <p><pre><code> and </code></pre></p> from the beginning and end of the snippet you pasted. You must have lifted that from the page when you copied the code.

Hi mate,

Great themether. Is there any way to hide a text post, so it doesent show up on home?

thanx, Ferry

PixelMoxie

Hi Ferry,

Thanks for the kind words!

You can target an individual post by grabbing its ID from the page source. I may add the option to hide certain posts from the grid in the future, but for now this is the quick and dirty way:

Go to line 666 of the theme and prepend `post_` to the article ID value, so the beginning of the tag looks like this:

<article id="post_{PostID}"

I recommend you view your page using Chrome; right-click on the thumbnail and choose “Inspect element”. Look for the article tag and grab the ID from there, for example:

<article id="post_55725945620" ...

Then you need to remove the block from the grid using JavaScript, before any of the theme scripts are executed.

Go to line 1422 and paste the following snippet before the Google Fonts code, make sure the targeted ID is the same as the post you want to hide:

<script>
    $('#post_55727526162').remove();
</script>

That should do it, let me know if that helps!

Hi, Sergio!

Can you help me to turn the font size of the “tags dropdown menu” bigger, please? I tried with this ///* Bigger tags fonts */ .cd-dropdown { font-size: 24px; } // but it haven’t worked…

Besides, how can I put this same ‘tags menu’, with the blue icon I added there, to the right, next to the search icon? Thank you! (www.appresenta.com.br)

PixelMoxie

Hey!

cd-dropdown is targeting a different element. Assuming you only want to move that menu item to the right and not the entire menu, and that you don’t mind the search-box stepping over it when is open, try the following custom code:

#page-header #main-navigation {
    width: 100%;
    left: auto;
    padding-left: 200px;
    -webkit-box-sizing: border-box;
    -moz-box-sizing: border-box;
    -ms-box-sizing: border-box;
    box-sizing: border-box;
}

/* fix vertical alignment */
#page-header #main-navigation .menu > li {
    vertical-align: top;
}

#page-header #main-navigation .menu > li:first-child {
    position: absolute;
    right: 32px;
}

#page-header #main-navigation .menu > li:first-child::after {
    display: none;
}

#page-header #main-navigation .menu > li:first-child .dropdown {
    left: auto;
    right: 0;
}

/* bigger dropdowns text */
#page-header #main-navigation .dropdown a {
    font-size: 24px;
}

Let me know how that goes!

Hi, Sergio!

Yes, it gets perfect! But, just to know, if I want to do the same to the “Sobre” menu link, that has left on the left, which piece of code I have to add, please? Thank you a lot! :D

PixelMoxie

I’m glad it worked :)

To accomplish that I’d use the following:

#page-header #main-navigation {
    width: 100%;
    left: auto;
    padding-left: 200px;
    padding-right: 32px;
    -webkit-box-sizing: border-box;
    -moz-box-sizing: border-box;
    -ms-box-sizing: border-box;
    box-sizing: border-box;
}

/* fix vertical alignment */
#page-header #main-navigation .menu > li {
    vertical-align: top;
}

#page-header #main-navigation .menu {
    text-align: right;
}

#page-header #main-navigation .menu > li:first-child .dropdown {
    left: auto;
    right: 0;
}

/* bigger dropdowns text */
#page-header #main-navigation .dropdown a {
    font-size: 24px;
}

Cheers!

Hello,

Thanks for the great theme – all going well so far. I just wondered if you could help me with some code to alter the width of the filter drop-down menu. One of the categories I need is just a little too wide, so if I could alter the menu bar by 20px or so that would fix the problem. At the moment the text is flowing out of the box and below.

Cheers

PixelMoxie

Hi there,

Paste the following snippet into the “Add custom CSS” box in your customization sidebar. The filter may be too wide now for some phone screens, so if possible, try to shorten your categories.

.cd-dropdown, .cd-select {
    max-width: 360px;
}

Cheers!

Thanks – that worked a treat!

One more question – I’m trying to create a link within a post directing to a category. The easiest way to do this is http://blogname.tumblr.com/tagged/tagiwanttolinkto

But… this brings the user back up to the top of the page as if they’ve just arrived at the website. Do you think it would be possible to generate a link that has the same functionality as clicking on one of the tabs in the portfolio_filter menu?

PixelMoxie

Nope, but you could append `#portfolio-filter`at the end of the link so on page load the site will scroll down to the portfolio, skipping the slider and the stuff at the top, like so:

http://pixelmoxie-bloq-light.tumblr.com/tagged/design#portfolio-filter

Hello, I like a bloq theme and I have a question. Is possible infinite scrolling?

If possible, I will buy directly.

I’m a graphic designer in Korea. I want see one screen at a time many works. because I have many portfolios.

I’ll be waiting for your reply.

PixelMoxie

Hi ahnpharkian,

Bloq doesn’t have infinite scrolling, in the sense that posts won’t load automatically when you reach the end of the page. You can always load more posts by clicking the button, but it needs to be done manually.

Kind Regards.
