I am planning to purchase this template but I first want to know if there is any way I can configure it so that it displays categories (or skills as you call them) to the upper part of the portfolio. I want to use these “skills” as hotlinks to filter out the contents displayed underneath.

That feature doesn’t exist in the theme at the moment. You’d need to modify the template a bit in order to get that to work.

LOVE this theme and have been busy making it my own – I have somehow blocked myself from your forum (incorrect login?) so hope you don’t mind a quick question here…
I can’t seem to create my own menu items, with secondary nav options on the main laft side panel.
I’ve tried it using the widget, but this just ads it underneath the main menu, where I actually want to recreate your ‘services’ title, with the 3 secondary options (print design, logo design, illust..)
I can add a page and it shows up, but this doesn’t give me the project preview your services option does.
when I create a menu, using skills as the 3 options as instructed, nothing at all appears in hte menu when I preview my site…. help!

Does the site has auto install the template, meaning when I upload this to wordpress will it be just like the demo version shown above?
When I upload the site and activate it on wordpress, I would like to it to be just like the demo version so I could make the changes from that.

The theme contains and xml and SQL files to mimic the structure of the demo, but you’ll need to upload your own images to complete the setup. In short, you can go to Tools > Import, upload the included xml file, and add your images to each project and it should be good to go. Let me know if you need further clarification.

I really like this theme, and the directions were pretty easy to follow. Your instructions PDF document was essential reading for me.
I will note it took me quite a while to figure out that anything visible I put in the Visual or HTML editor on a portfolio item was just going to get in my way. Maybe I missed that in the instructions for posting a video, but now that I have that straight, it looks to be working as I expected.

Be sure your username matches your envato username used to purchase the item. In other words, the username and purchase code must match. Can you confirm you’re using your Themeforest username to sign up?

I’m sorry! I tried making another username and password because it wasn’t letting me put my original one in. When I finally entered into the support forum, every post I clicked said I didn’t have permission to add or view anything. I’m sorry. Not sure if I’m doing this right? You need to register with your Themeforest Username: racheldowd. If you’ve already registered with that username, and you forgot your password, you’ll need to use the “forgot password” link on the login page. If you’re still having issues, I can create the account for you, I just need an email address and your Purchase Code to send the login information.

I got it to work and I saw that you have already answered this question. I’m going to try what you suggested, but I am a beginner at this. If I can’t get to work is there any policy for returns? I need a portfolio site that allows quite a few slides per portfolio piece. I’d hate to have to do that because I really love this theme!

Hi Andre, Thanks for the great theme. I was hoping you could help me with 2 issues. 1) I am trying to use a standard @font-face call and it only seems to be working on the homepage. 2) When i put a youtube url in a portfolio entry, it doesn’t seem to want to work. I know there was a certain way i had to input a vimeo url to get it to work. Is there a certain way a youtube url has to be for it to play?

This theme looks like the perfect basis for the portfolio site I’m about to build, and I’m looking at buying it – I just wondered if the theme currently supports infinite scrolling (or whether this is a matter of a simple edit to the code)? Feel free to ask as many questions as you like! Support forum is for product support-related questions. Any pre-buying questions you can ask either in the item comments (as you did) or via email on my contact form on the profile page.
This theme does not support infinite scrolling. You’d need to make some hefty modifications to include that feature. Instead this theme has pagination built into the portfolio pages so you can paginate your items if you have a lot you want to show. Let me know if you need further clarification.

Hi, I’m really interested in this theme, but have a few questions before purchasing. I haven’t been able to read through all the comments so forgive me if this has been asked before, I saw already that the individual project pages are limited to six images with the portfolio types unlimited. Is there a way to use multiple levels of the unlimited pages to get more filtering and higher capacity? For example: Category type 1 > sub cat 1 > sub cat 1a > project page (to allow for multiple projects of similar nature to be shown together on sub cat 1a page, etc.) Can descriptions for each of these be easily added on the main portfolio pages in addition to the descriptions that can be written for the project pages? Do you offer support for altering code to get the theme looking the way we need in instances where the functionality isn’t already written into the theme? Thanks!

1. Yep, you can have different “sub-skills” for your projects if you’d like. Each project can have more than one category and they can share categories with other projects. Let me know if that answers your question.
2. Are you talking about category descriptions for portfolio items? Yes, you can enter those, and have the descriptions output on the project pages as well. I’d be happy to help you integrate that.
3. I offer support for minor code alterations only. If it’s a couple lines or so, I can easily talk you through it. For more substantial alterations, I can help point out the files/code to help, but you’d need to consult the help of a developer for those types of alterations.

Thank you for the responses – the only one I still have questions on is the first. I guess I didn’t explain myself clearly enough. My question is if the theme is designed to stack what are called the skill pages. Here is a more clear example: In the side menu is a link for “Drawings” within this link there are separate pages for ink and pencil. Ink and Pencil each have categories for landscape, portrait and still life. Finally, under ink landscapes, there is a project that is “series II” among others. So, would those menus/pages generate separately based on their mapped parent or would I have a whole list on the side menu that would end up cross-mixing landscapes from both the ink and pencil categories? I hope that makes my question more clear. I am just trying to imagine if I can produce a clear filtering system that would handle a large number of projects/skill areas.

The skills filtering on the sidebar can be whatever you dream up. You just add individual skills pages to the menu, decide what order, which ones are in the dropdown and which aren’t. The menu system only supports up the 3 levels of sub menus. For instance, you can have one that looks like this:
Drawings -Ink -Landscape -Portrait -Still Life -Pencil -Landscape -Portrait -Still LifeBut you can’t have further dropdown items with the superfish dropdown menus. Let me know if that makes sense.

Increasing the size of the thumbnails and the slideshows would involve changing some css and javascript functionality. If you’re not familiar with those two languages, it would be a challenge.
Adding more images to the slideshow is a bit easier, thought you’ll still have to make some modifications to the theme’s files. I have step-by-step instructions on how to do that on the Support Forum.

Most of this alteration is jquery, specifically a custom add-on function I created for the Masonry script. I can only point you to the files that control that functionality, and answer specific questions about how they work. I won’t be able to write any functions for you or debug your code, so it’s mostly up to you to make the alteration. Like I said though, I’m always here for questions if you have any about how the functionality of the existing theme works.

I have a plan to get a wordpress site. So, i like your amazing theme to much. But i need to ask you a few questions before buy.
1) can I use your theme (main page design) like a dynamic blog (pet news, magazine etc.) not portfolio? Cause I should update my website may be 2-3 times in a week. must I delete older posts? Actually, I need to understand that: Could I see archive pages on your theme like standard blog sites? or should i delete the older posts on my web site? I saw “Blog” option on your them but i didnt like that.
2) if i cant use to “bookcase’s like a personal news blog, which design do you suggest to me?

Thanks so much for your interest!
I would just use the “portfolio” post-type for your blog posts. The only difference is internally (you can change it in the url structure to something else). In other words, the users wouldn’t know the difference. You’d just need to have an image for each post, or it won’t work. Also, the homepage automatically “paginates”, so you don’t need to delete older posts or anything of that nature. Older posts will “archive” to additional pages.
