We have been using this site for two weeks and it has been hacked 3 times already. We have traced the security breaches directly to this theme.

I encourage everyone to stop purchasing this theme until the security issues are addressed. The hack saw the theme compromised, and even directories on out FTP account deleted completlyl. We are still unable to fix the site as all of our access has been blocked by the hacker.

A word of warning! I hope we are contacted by their support team soon.

Actually we have made an update for Brilliant back in late December. I wonder maybe you have bought it earlier and never updated. We urgently emailed our customers who have ever contacted us before due to technical support or any other reason (as no other customers’ emails we had) about a security update.
Also there was a Support Forum notification, which can be found here.

If you follow all the appropriate instructions carefully and keep the theme up to date, be sure, your site is safe.
We did everything to make Brilliant v. 1.3 as safe as possible and will continue taking steps on theme improvement further.
Now Envato has new notification feature – we will notify our customers via email every time the update will take place.

We are using the latest version. The product was only bought last month. After your theme was hacked the first time, we downloaded the new security fixes again to check per your instructions. Your theme was hacked again 2 days later. This is a very serious problem. Your security holes meant our entire ftp server was compromised and all email folders and directories were deleted!

All notification actions have been followed and we have still been hacked each time.

This site has been hacked AGAIN!!!!!!! Unbelievable. It has even been running multiple security plugins and been monitored around the clock. Still the gaping security holes in this theme exist . DO NOT BUY THIS THEME!!!! Warning to everyone!

Please, don’t jump to conclusions. Let’s figure out why this could happen.

What is your support ticket number? Did you get any solution or at least useful advice from the support center?

It looks like your vulnerability depends on hosting provider. Have you tried to change your hosting to another one, completely different?

where can I find the files that were updated with the new version that was released in December? I did some customization and do not want to lose my work. thanks

To update the theme, please, follow to your Downloads tab on Themeforest and click “download” and get the fresh theme archive. Then follow to the Fix_1.3 folder and open README.txt, you’ll find the instruction on update there. Basically you should replace some files at your server. But please, make a backup beforehand – just in case. If you have made some code changes in style.css or other files, the update can harm your customization. You should copy changed code to the new file. Otherwise your theme settings won’t be affected.

I just double checked the theme files and I did have version 1.3 and the updates in the Fix_1.3 folder where on my site. Nothing else on the site was touched just the theme.

Hm… In this case, please, submit a personal support ticket here, explain as clearly as you can the issue you are having and what you were doing when the problem occurred. Our support guys will study the issue deeply.

Ok, Thanks can you clarify one thing before I set this up to test again so it doesn’t get attacked again. I see 3 alerts for the theme if I install the them as new as is off this download does that need patched I see 2 fixes with two separate fix files so I’m wondering does someone install then patch the 2 fixes or just install as is?

I’m afraid I don’t quite understand where could appear the second fixes folder. It would be better to communicate via ticketing system.

I have been using this theme for three website, all of which have been attacked countless times. It has now got to the point that I think I need to recreate all three site using another theme. A shame as I really liked the feel of the theme…

Surely a fix must be on the way soon with all the comments above, its obviously a generic problem with the theme. I don’t see the need for everyone to send ftp and wp details in order for it to be corrected as it seems everyone has the same issue!

This is 100% not a hosting issues and is theme related only.

Our developers are working on this issue at the moment, however no solution found yet. We need as much information from you as you can provide.

All you have to do is just create a personal support ticket, describe your issue in more details – specify files affected, your server characteristics and Brilliant theme version used, provide your wp-admin and FTP credentials and we’ll examine your issue.

Copy “clockstone” folder from Fix 1.3.1 to your server “wp-content/themes/” and replace existing files.

Have you updated theme to the 1.3.1 version?
Back on 24th of April the fix was uploaded at Themeforest. Now this theme is safe.

My site has been hacked too.And the hosting provider has said the hacker had backdoor entry through Brilliant theme.:( I hope I can recover it soon and that it doesn’t happen again.

My site was hacked yesterday while using this theme. Sadly it did a lot of damage to my organization’s professionalism. We looked really bad. I am very frustrated and do not know what to do.

It is apparent there are coding issues with the theme. Please do not put another theme out for release without ensuring minimal security requirements are met.

We have performed a theme security update on April 25 – version 1.3.1. And yesterday there was another one for Twitter Widget.

Our developers did everything to make the latest theme version as safe as possible and will continue taking steps on theme improvement further.
Now Envato provides a notification option and we notify our customers via email every time the update takes place.

Hi I have just purchased Brilliant theme and I cannot upload the zip file. I have tried unzipping and uploading the theme folder and still no luck. Keeps saying css error. Why don’t these things work on purchase. Very frustrating.

I’ve just bought this theme and it won’t install the demo content. Also, on the homepage of my site (www.wandering-dreamer.com) there’s an annoying comment box that I can’t shut off. How do I shut off the comments for the homepage and install the demo content like it’s supposed to be installed?

Could you please be more specific on what difficulties exactly are you having with uploading demo content? As to the comment box – you can disable that in your admin panel when editing each page, just please scroll to the Discussion settings, please see the screenshot – open it.
