This is an extremely complicated theme. The documentation doesn’t explain how to set everything up and instead of going to “page” or “portfolio” to make an actual page. You have to go to the page builder, figure out the correct image size it allows, add the template to a page, and then figure it out from there. Not to mention the portfolio feature doesn’t actually work at all off the bat either. I have had to re-code half of this theme already (especially the pricing section). For someone who doesn’t know how to code, this theme is not for you. I plan on buying a new theme which is sad because I wasted money on this and I had really high hopes because it looked great in the preview. I’m not looking to start an argument, just trying to give an honest review for future buyers.

ThemeVillage

Hi Kassie,
It may be an honest opinion, not a review. We’ve had a lot of Photographers who don’t know anything about Wordpress and they’ve been able to set their portfolio up easily.
The “review” doesn’t really seem fair at the moment, because you’ve even confused me to what is it that you even tried to do.
Yes, you use a page builder to set up the pages in the one page layout. If you have a better solution, please mail it to me support@themevillage.net.
The portfolio feature works off the bat. You get exactly what you see in the demo.

So – I think it is an honest opinion of yours and you’ve been writing it at a time of frustration, but instead of writing a “review” you could have just asked for help and added a suggestion. We’re always looking to improve and I’m sorry you had the experience that you did.

Norris, The only thing is that I am not asking for help or else I would have gone to the support forums or emailed someone. I just wanted to write an honest review of how horrible it has been for me to try to use this theme. So I do think it is a fair review and shouldn’t be taken as just an upset rampage. Bottom line: in my opinion, this theme is hard to use especially if you don’t know how to change other people’s coding and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Thanks, Kassie

Plenty of people with zero wordpress ( not to mention coding ) experience have set up the theme just fine. We’ll just have to agree to disagree then ;)

Hi there, I might have a funny question, but I purchased the camilla theme but I can not find a forum to get some help.

I have lots of questions….. Thank you, Monika

Hi, I did the customer buy the graphic theme Camilla. I have two questions 1) The social buttons I share the entire site and NOT the individual photo. why is that 2) you can enter other social button?

ThemeVillage

It’s because it’s a “One-page” design. All the presentation ( portfolio, about you, etc. ) is in a single page and that page is shared when you share. You can use any widget you want in the widget area. As for the galleries themselves – you can use only the social sharing system integrated in them.

Quick pre-sales question: Is there a way to install the theme with the dummy data exactly the way you have it in your demo? Then I can go about making changes. Seems the fastest way to go live.

ThemeVillage

Yes, you have all 3 demos and settings available to you, except the images are going to be replaced with “black squares” because we don’t have the right to commercially distribute the photos we’ve used in the demos.

I saw the comment and this is really easy after watching the videos from your forum. I was wondering what changes have taken place in this latest release. Do you post change log in the down load package?

ThemeVillage

Hi, You can always see the changelog below the theme description here on Themeforest, and also in the theme files there is a “changelog.txt” with all the latest changes.
Norris

Hi, The messages through the form of camilla I go into SPAM. Is there a solution? Thanks

ThemeVillage

In the demo we have a sample form. After you buy the theme you’ll be able to configure the contact form to work properly.

Hi,awesome theme, really beautiful! intend to buy, my only doubt the menu bar can be down instead of on top? Thnks

ThemeVillage

Hi,

By default there is no option to move the header at the bottom of the site. You’d need to hire a 3rd party developer for that.

Best regards,

Tanita

Excellent theme, very nice and detailed support videos and documents. Made me set up without asking anyone about anything. Love it ! :D

Hi ThemeVillage,

I have a pre-sale question: Talking about the Light Camilla, on the ‘Work’ section, is it possible to set up only 3 categories/albums? If so, they become wider and adapt to fill all browser width? If not, is it possible to make them fill all width of the browser window? The Red Camilla is similar to what I’m looking for (it has 3 albums on the demo), but the categories/albums are too wide, and most screens will only show 2 of them and I’m afraid that some people will miss the 3rd album that is not showing.

Best, trebla24

ThemeVillage

Hi trebla24, We’ve added “Scroll notification” option so that you can let your users know to scroll. The area isn’t “responsive” in the sense that it would scale down your images – instead it’s scrollable, so all you need to do is have wide enough images and they’ll be scrollable on smaller screens like in our red camilla demo.

I’m having an issue with your official support forum (asks for the purchase code again to view a post, but then says code is already used) so I’ll just ask here.

My old posts are not showing up in the diary. They are there, published, and you can view them through the backend. They just aren’t visible when you click ‘Diary’ from the menu.

Please mail us your purchase code to support@themevillage.net – we’ll activate your account on our forums.

In order to figure out what’s the problem for you, we’ll need to see a live demo of the problem, and probably an admin user as well.

Pre purchase question: Does your site integrate with the mailchimp plugin to collect email subscribers. If not then does it integrate the jetpack equivalent?

Also is it compatible with the Twitter jetpack plugin to have a live feed and with an instagram plugin to have a page embed feed for instance Alpine Photo Tile for Instagram—> http://wordpress.org/plugins/alpine-photo-tile-for-instagram/faq/

Thank you very much in advance. Any and all information you can provide would be very much appreciated. : )

ThemeVillage

Hi,

To be honest, we haven’t tested Camilla with these plugins, so I can’t tell you for sure. I’m guessing that they would work because it’s Wordpress, but you would have to test them out yourself.

^Tanita

Hello,

My husband purchased this theme for me to use and I need some help. I created sub-pages and want to know if it’s possible to have the full image background like the main menu pages? I don’t need the sub-pages to scroll horizontally like the main pages but need the same look and feel as them.

I’ve read the documentation multiple times and have set up many WordPress themes in the past but I cannot figure out if this is possible.

If you need a link to the website, please let me know and I can email it to you so you can see what I’m talking about. I don’t want to give the link out publicly since I am a web designer and the link leads to my development server.

Thanks! Shawna

Hello! I am looking for a theme to showcase models in a grid (frontage) and with the possibility to filter them in categories. That theme does allow me to create several portfolios: one for each model then when a visitor clicks in the the featured image from the frontpage/ grid that opens the portfolio with +3 or +4 a nice pictures (could be a small slider effect) and a small description (name/ age/ details) Does I achieve that with this theme. I am a WP beginner. Thanks for replying me asap. Regards

ThemeVillage

You can certainly categorize your portfolio ( so you’d create a category for each model ), see our Red Camilla demo for how that would look. However, I’m not sure that what you’re trying to do is going to be the best use of our theme. We’ve designed it to be a Photographers portfolio – anything else is considered a customization and should be handled by people who know exactly what they’re doing.
Cheers!

Hi I think I have it figured out - I uploaded the demo content twice. There seems to be some lag between saving the “main one page” (or in red demo “one page”) to the theme menu generator and then saving the primary menu in Appearance > Menu -> the “lag” resulting in all links originally pointing to the camilla demo. Or maybe it required the permalinks to be updated first. I am not certain but I believe it is a little error in the documentation.

ThemeVillage

I would really appreciate it if you’d create a support ticket about that. I’m still not sure what is the exact problem with the documentation. Cheers,

I did create a support ticket.

I just wanted it publicly known for future buyers that the documentation is outdated and you are aware of it.

In fact in the support forums you, Norris, say “I need to update the documentation”.

Cheers

ThemeVillage

Can you link me to a topic where I said that ? The videos are outdated a bit, sure, not that easy to re-record, but the written documentation is updated constantly! We’re updating the theme all the time so of course the docs sometimes may fall a little behind. If someone points out a flaw in the documentation we usually correct it rather quickly.
