Hello – I’m probably going to purchase this theme, but I just had one quick question first. What customization can you do to either the background or the header logo? I’m keen to put up a logo but also a profile photo of the person the website is for all above the top menu bar. Is this possible?
It looks like a fantastic theme and I’m keen to purchase, but that bit of customization is necessary for me.
Many thanks.
Thanks for the interest!
The logo is a setting and it lets you upload your own. You could simply upload your logo with the headshot in it.
If you need help just open a thread in my support forum, http://support.designcrumbs.com
Hi! Is there a way to download a trial version?
Thanks!
No there’s not. ThemeForest has nothing like this in place. If you have any questions I’ll be happy to answer them.
Thanks for the response. First time using ThemeForest!
- The most important aspect for me is the donations section, as I might need to customize it a lot. Is this possible? I can’t preview it, which I understand – but I’d like to know a little more about the options I’d have there in terms of what fields I can add/remove/move around. The screenshot of donations is – I think – out of date.
- For this part: “Includes optional disclaimer in footer as required in the USA by the FEC for political committees.” – can I modify/edit this text?
- Can I move/eliminate the “search” from the top right?
- Can the social media buttons on the bottom be moved somewhere else?
Thanks!
1) The donation button is simply a link. There’s not an actual donation form or anything. The screenshots you see are of the backend; You can put in the actual link and the text for the button itself. This allows you to use a third party system for collecting donations or just taken the user to a specific page on the site.
2) Yes, there is a field in the theme options to put in whatever you want, or nothing at all. If you leave it blank, it simply won’t show up.
3) There’s not an option to remove it, but it’s literally one line of code you’d need to remove from header.php. If you need help with that I know there’s already a thread or two in my support forum (which you’d get access to after you make a purchase) that explains where exactly it is.
4) There’s no option to move them, no. You’d have to customize the theme.
I am very interested in this theme. But how customizable is the blog? I want to remove all meta info besides the date and not use a feature image – are there options for that in the theme?
Thanks
There aren’t options for that, but it’d be relatively easy to do with a child theme. If you need help after purchase just open a thread in my support forum and we’ll help you out.
Hey guys, one of the best template for me that I’ve bought. Here’s why;
I am owning a lot of website with different style and lay-out. Thanks to this template I can create different lay-out & style but with the same template. I especially loved the fixed and width style version. This is so great and I am hoping a lot of more features are coming on this one. Please keep the style like this because this is perfect to me!
I have one issue, how can I use text on the homepage instead of the slider without losing the others.
Hey there! Glad you like the theme!
There’s not an option for that, you’d have to customize it in front-page.php. I recommend doing so with a child theme. If you need help, please open a thread in my support forum http://support.designcrumbs.com
Also, I’d appreciate a 5 star rating on the theme if you haven’t done so already. Here’s how to do that.
Thanks for your reply. I am not needing this option anymore, have a other solution build in.
But I am missing the most important footer option in Themes Options?
Which footer option are you talking about? There’s only the “Paid for” option under Theme Options, the widgets are under Appearance > Widgets
Not the widget in the footer. But the copyright text. It’s only possible to code this via footer.php. But it would be much easier if this option is builded in the Themes Options like most of templates.
Ah, I see. It’s actually WordPress’s official stance to not have that editable. Even so, I tend to update my themes if I get told about the same thing enough, but I can say with 100% truth that you’re the first one to bring this up
Ok, clear.
But can you explain one more this to me how I can disable HTML code in “Donate Button Text” field? Please this is urgent and important to me.
Thanks in advance,
Sorry, I don’t understand. There is no HTML in that field.
Please open a thread in my support forum http://support.designcrumbs.com and we’ll help you over there.
Hello, I know there’s no HTML in the “Donate Button Text” field. But when I add HTML code like
, the HTML code removes automatically after saving it.How can I enable HTML in that field?
Right, it purposely strips out the code. Like I said, Please open a thread in my support forum http://support.designcrumbs.com and we can help you out there. You’re going to have to do some customizations to the theme if you’d like to allow for HTML code in that area.
Hi designcrumbs
I’m loving this design but was wanting to do a fair bit of customising to the css, it would be really useful it you had a PSD of the design so I could work up a visual for our client. Is there such a thing I could have?
Thanks
Hi there, I don’t have a PSD , no. This theme was designed in browser. The only PSD elements that I made are included with the theme… I believe that only to be the ribbons for the menu.
I’d appreciate a 5 star rating on the theme if you haven’t done so already. Here’s how to do that.
Can you please let me know why this page is messed up:
http://stopthecasinobrooklyn.org/event/gambling-empire/Try selecting Default Page Template template under Events > Settings > Templates > Page Templates.
Please open a thread in my support forum http://support.designcrumbs.com if you have any more issues.
Thanks that worked great. One other quick question. Do you know how I can get the name of the event to show up above the date, instead of below (on the widget)
Thanks
Again, Please open a thread in my support forum http://support.designcrumbs.com with any questions you may have.
What you’re looking to do isn’t possible within the theme. That widget is part of the Events Calendar plugin. You’d need to customize the plugin itself.
Alrighty, we’ll get to it tomorrow.
Is there anyway you can add a Pinterest Button to the social icons?
You could create the icon and hardcode it yourself. If you want help with that you please open a thread in my support forum http://support.designcrumbs.com
Otherwise, you can contact Tweaky.com and they’ll be able to quote you on getting that customized.
Good day, purchased this template and love its customizability! Great work with it! Just wondering if it is possible to remove the stars that appear along with the wp email capture plug in? I can’t find the code in either the template or the plug in files. Any tips? Thanks!
It’s in the CSS . If you need help please open a thread at http://support.designcrumbs.com
The SEO of this template is very bad. I’m missing the Description tag for the Google description. The title and description merge together which is very bad.
How can I fix this manually?
You should be using a plugin such as Yoast SEO or All-In-One SEO . SEO is plugin territory, not theme.
The meta data of this theme is done the same way as it is in Twenty Eleven, an official theme created by WordPress.
Yes that’s true. This theme is to minimal and has very less options in “Theme Options”.
Also I’m not able to choose the frontpage, when I select the page “Home” as frontpage via Settings—> Read, I still get the slide on the top and no content from Home page.
How can I fix this?
The theme uses front-page.php, that overrides all settings. Simply rename that file to not use it.
Please open a thread in my support forum http://support.designcrumbs.com if you have any more questions.
Thank you, problem solved. Of course a option in Theme Options was much easier. Maybe a advice for the next update.
It would have been, but I’m in the ‘decisions not options’ mentality. It was an easy fix for you and in 1000+ sales there’s been about 5 people who asked the same question as you
How do I set for each page a different sidebar where I can add widget? I’m now not able to add a widget on the homepage and a different widget on about me page and different one in contact to for example.
You’d have to customize the theme for that. You can contact Tweaky.com and they’ll be able to quote you on getting that customized.
I’ve bought a plug-in that makes this possible.
One more question, could you tell me bow to fixed the footer to the bottom of the windows please?
I’m not sure what you mean. You want the footer always stuck to the bottom of the browser?
Yes that is true. I am on high resolution monitor and the footer doesn’t stuck on the bottom when I resize the window. How can I fix this?
You’d have to do some CSS or possibly jQuery changes to the theme. I’d suggest having Tweaky.com make that change if you’re comfortable tackling it yourself.
Hello! I’ve finished up my website using the campaign theme, but I’m having one issue, the “Home Page” with all of the banner widgets originally wouldn’t show up unless I was logged in.
Then I tried listing the “Home Page” it as a Static Page in options, but that created an endless loop when loading.
Now all it is doing is showing the blog page as the homepage.
The website is: http://melissadurrell.ca
Let me know if I’m doing something wrong.
Did you set a home page and a blog page under Settings > Reading? Did you edit the theme at all?
I originally had the static page blank, and it worked just fine. But when I switched it to home it gave me an endless loop error.
I just set the static page to my “About” page instead of leaving it blank and it is working just fine now. Strange, but awesome! Thanks for your help!
Haha I didn’t do anything, but you’re welcome?!
I really like the theme, however is there any way to change the ribbon color to orange? Or any other color other that Blue, Green, Yellow and Red?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the interest!
The PSD is included with the download. If you have the slightest Photoshop skills you could edit, save it out as a PNG and put it in the theme. I’d recommend doing so through a child theme, which is also included in the download. You’d also need to change some CSS for the mobile versions.
Or if you want it customized, Tweaky.com will be able to do that for you pretty inexpensively.
Hello designcrumbs,
Here is my experience with your template and support.
1) About the template: this template looks great and has some little features, it’s not much and you can’t do much if you don’t have experience. This template doesn’t provide any special settings nor features like many great templates from themeforest. You aren’t able to change the most simple things e.g. font style, size, colors. The footer isn’t changeable via the admin, you are lost if you don’t know how to edit php/html. And many more ‘standard’ thing aren’t on this theme.
2) About the support, as a buyer you will expect a little bit service of support like many provide here. I know this isn’t included at the template cost but it’s just a service. You helped me with changing the homepage from your style to the normal style by simply edit the filename on the ftp. If you were a good developer you build a option to make it enable nor disable. And this for many simply features for wordpress on your theme. From experience almost everybody could help me with the questions that I asked you. If they didn’t, they would redirect me to their forum and I get help from there. Anyway, it would be fixed.
The experience that I got from you is that u don’t provide any help with this at all. You redirect people to a forum when you need to pay high cost for a little change. This little change was also possible by the help from you. Again, it’s not into the template cost but a little bit of services.
Now I’m stuck with the footer stuck on the bottom thing and can’t figure it out how it can be fixed with this template.
Still this template is great and like it, but wish you build in the next update a lot of new and most used features in the admin panel. Also your services must be better for my experience.
Cheers.
I’m sorry you’re upset with my support, but you still haven’t opened a thread in my support forum. If you’re having a legitimate support issue I am more than happy to provide the support for it. However, wanting me to explain how to make changes to the theme is not support. Customizing the theme beyond the way it was intended to be used or styling it to your preferences is not a support issue.
So, please open a thread in my support forum http://support.designcrumbs.com if you need support with something.
Hey there,
Great theme, definitely interested in purchasing. Two questions:
How customizable is the color schemes, if at all? How customizable is the background texture/pattern?
Thanks and go bears!
DAAAAA BEARS.
There are options in the theme for four color schemes and five (+ ‘none’) background patterns.
If you want to change the colors or background patterns to something else, it’d just be a matter of editing the images themselves and adding a few lines of code to a child theme stylesheet. We can help you in the support forum if needed. Difficulty comes down to how comfortable you are doing those things.
Hi! I’m digging this theme but have a few questions:
1. Can the “Latest Posts,” or any of the frontpage widgetized areas, for that matter, show excerpts from the the posts (with a “show more” link) instead of just a picture, date and title?
2. Is the email signup compatible with Constant Contact or Mail Chimp?
1 – not through the options. You’d need to customize the theme.
2 – the email signup uses a plugin called WP Email Capture and simply creates a list that can be exported to most lost management services including Constant Contact and Mailchimp.
Thanks for answering my questions! 2 more things:
1. By “customize the theme” you mean customize the php?
2. Is there a child theme for this? If not, can the theme options be imported into the child theme back end? I haven’t done that before but I imagine there’s got to be a way to do it with functions.php or something.
Actually do child themes automatically import the parent theme options into the back end? For some reason I was thinking they didn’t but I can’t think of any reason they wouldn’t.
Sorry for the delay! The holidays are wearing on me
By “customize” I mean edit the files yes. You would do so through a child theme, which a starter child theme is included with the download.
The child theme will import everything from the parent theme except for those things you overwrite yourself. For instance, since you want to edit the front page, you would put a front-page.php file into the child theme [and make your edits there] which with then supersede the front-page.php in the parent theme.
