Yes Its all fine when I open the index html file and launch it in firefox I can see what I am suppose to but dont understand why its not there when its uploaded to the server? Have I missed something? Thanks for your time.. Sam

If in your computer is everything ok, the problem isn’t with the template… As I imagined is with your server. The files aren’t being correctly uploaded. Are you uploading it by FTP ? Can’t you confirm in your FTP client if the files are being transferred with success?

You will definitely not be disappointed with this code. It works well across multiple browsers. oitentaecinco has done an awesome job and has responded quickly to a couple of code questions. Code is well commented and very organized. $15 is a total bargain compared to the amount of time saved. Thanks!

Thank you very much for your appreciation. It’s a big incentive for me!!!

I am absolutely loving this template but have hit a snag with the contact form.

When I complete the form the email is being sent correctly to my ‘targetEmail’ address, but the contact screen shows the message “Sorry! Unable to send message.”

Any ideas what could be causing the incorrect feedback?

Thanks.

oitentaecinco

Hi Rossdav.

I’ve tested again the contact form and everything seems to be correct with my script.

So I’ve started investigating the situation you reported and I found that there is a bug with the mail() method in the older versions of PHP . That bug is precisely what are happening to you: although the mail is sent, the function returns false. And if that function returns false, my script shows that sorry-message!

Take a look in the following page: https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=12335 And pay attention to the last comment, written by one of the php developers…

So… Check the PHP version of the server where you are running the website… And check if it configured to a recent one. Some servers, by default, are running php 4, but you can change it to 5!

Hope the problem is just this. If not, let me know… I will do my best to help you!!

Thanks for this.

The site in question is running on a server with PHP 5 .3, with the option in the hosting control panel to change it to 5.2 for compatability.

With it set to 5.3 it fails as described, but by changing it to 5.2 it now runs as expected and I see the message “Message successfully sent. Thank You!”

Why it wouldnt work on a newer version is odd, but I’m happy because it’s now working.

Thanks!

oitentaecinco

As you can see is a trouble with PHP … The same method in two different PHP versions works differently. And it becomes even more strange if it works incorrectly in a newer version!!

My script is simple… You can see in the following file: submits/contact_form.php

Is just a simple call to mail() method… And if it return “true”, I return “success” to the page… If returns “false”, I return “error”. My implementation is 100% correct. Now is expected that PHP does is job correctly too.

Hope they fix this in a further update. And till that, fortunately you can run a version where everything works correctly!!

Hello! I’m a beginner to Wordpress and just bought this theme. I’ve been trying to upload it via bluehost to wordpress so I can install the theme, however I keep receiving an error message stating “stylescript missing”. I haven’t been able to identify the root file I should be uploading to satisfy this request.

Help please !! :)

oitentaecinco

Hello laurakgreene.

I’m afraid you have bought the wrong template. This is just an HTML template, NOT an WORDPRESS template! :/

Great work. I just have one comment, in case the page height is lower than the browser height, the empty space after the footer has a white background (I am using the blue version). Is there an easy way to change this? Changing the background of body will also change the background for content. I think a dark grey or blue would look better.

oitentaecinco

Hi Floresa.

Thank you for your suggestion. I’ll contemplate that in the next template’s update.

However, if you don’t want to wait for it, I can provide you some “personal help”. Send me an email (pedro.oitentaecinco@gmail.com) or talk to me via skype (pedro.oitentaecinco)...

Hi, thanks for your help on the slider, the only problem I have is that my nav menu, on IE, starts displaying the submenus on top of the name of the menu item -instead of down the name, and the list items goes behind the main slider, so I couldnt click them. Where can I configure or change that? Thanks a lot again :)

oitentaecinco

Hichokochokorito.

In which version of IE that happens? The template only supports IE8 +. Check out if you aren’t running IE in compatibility mode, otherwise it will render the page using an older engine.

I´m using IE9 I ´m not using compatibility mode, also I have made changes on the CSS so maybe I have changed something. Thanks a lot

oitentaecinco

If you are using IE9 , it should work for sure! But let me help you… Do you have any preview online, so I can see it? If so, please send me the URL to my email (pedro.oitentaecinco@gmail.com)... If you made some changes to CSS , it could be some trouble with z-index properties….

Nice template, good job :-)

Any recommendation on what to use for the news comments?

Thanks :-)

oitentaecinco

Thank you!!

For the news/comments, you should have a database supporting that. I think the easiest way is having a CMS behind, like WordPress…

But I don’t know if you have any skills on this type of tasks!?

By the way, I’m preparing an WordPress release of Chapter One!! Hope it will be available for purchase in the next few days.

I’m having trouble creating a sub level of a sub level with this menu. Is it possible? Thanks,

oitentaecinco

It should be possible.

A few days ago I found that bug… I’ve already fixed it, but I still didn’t have the opportunity to release an update.

To fix that you should do the following modifications in chapter_one.js

Replace the line 163
from: $subMenus.css(‘left’, ‘0px’);
to: $control.find(‘ul’).css(‘left’, ‘0px’);

Replace the line 188
from: var $nestedSubMenus = $item.find(‘ul’);
to: var $nestedSubMenus = $item.find(‘ul’).first();

And this should fix it… As soon as possible I will release an update with this bugfix!!

Thank you!!!!

Can you have a look at our site and tell us why the sub sub navigation isn’t working? (Mouse over networking and then cable solutions)

Also – Instead of making a.active, we have to do li.active a to integrate with our CMS . We updated the CSS to reflect this, but as you can see, the subnavigation under an active tab has the wrong font color. I think the standard practice is to give the li the active class and leave the a alone, isn’t it?

http://techdaddies.com

Aside from these two small issues, this is an awesome theme. I appreciate any help you can give us.

oitentaecinco

Hi thatscriptguy

First of all thank you for your purchase.

About your first question, it is a bug in my code. I’ve noticed it a few days ago… Although I still don’t have the opportunity to release an update to the template.

If you don’t want for that you can fix it yourself. It’s easy…

Just open the scripts/chapter_one.js file

Replace the line 163
from: $subMenus.css(‘left’, ‘0px’);
to: $control.find(‘ul’).css(‘left’, ‘0px’);

Replace the line 188
from: var $nestedSubMenus = $item.find(‘ul’);
to: var $nestedSubMenus = $item.find(‘ul’).first();

And this should fix it… Please let me know!!

Kind regards

oitentaecinco

About your second question… Besides it’s not very correct, in a markup perspective… I can help you to achieve that.

Once again, open the scripts/chapter_one.js file

Add the following line after line 226:
$(this).parent().addClass(settings.currentOption_cssClass);

Add the following line after line 227:
$parentLink.parent().addClass(settings.currentOption_cssClass);

Let me know if that worked!!

Kind Regards!!

I’ll have to see if I can modify our CMS to place active classes on the links instead of the

  • Your first change (To make sub-sub-nav work) broke our navigation, though.

    Broke the navigation!? Can you send me the javascript file to mail email (pedro.oitentaecinco@gmail.com) to check if the change were done successfully?

    Hi Pedro, can you fill me in on the problems that are with the sub / sub menu. You have mentioned that there is a fix to lines 163 and lines 188 of the .JS code, but when I put the fixes in there, line 163 comes up with syntax errors.

    I will email you on your gmail as well. Thanks in advance.

    oitentaecinco

    Hi.

    I’ve just right now sent you a file with the fix.
    Tomorrow I will release the promissed update with that!

    Kind regards

    dmsdesignstudio

    Thanks Pedro, the can you post a link to the file up here for me as my virus scanner deletes anything that looks like a script from my inbox. Much appreciated mate.

    oitentaecinco

    As promised… The theme’s update was just right now released!
    There is no menu-bug anymore!!

    Hi,

    I am not able to get the email form working. I thought that i just had to insert my own email address in the value=”your-mail@gmail.com” field, but nothing happens, no email is sent to my own email address. I have also tried to change id=”btnSend” href=”submits/.php” to id=”btnSend” href=”submits/contact_form.php”.

    Do you have any idea what i am doing wrong? Maybe you have a code example where it all works?

    Kind regards René

    oitentaecinco

    Hi rsa1977

    Are you testing it localhost or online?
    If localhost, your email will not be sent unless you have php running and properly setup. If online, your server also needs to support php.

    If everything is fine with php and you’re still unable to send emails, your problem could be related with mail authentication. Some hosting companies require a real account credentials to allow the email sending… If that we will need to do some changes to the script.

    Kind regards

    IMPORTANT NOTE :

    Recently twitter changed it’s API …

    In order to keep your TwitterFeed widget working properly, please update your theme to the last version (1.4).

    If you don’t want to update the entire theme you could simply update the following file chapter_one/scripts/libraries/jquery.twitterfeed.min.js You can download the file from here: http://themes.oitentaecinco.com/chapterone_wordpress/patches/jquery.twitterfeed.min.js.zip
