Why is it that the vertical scroll doesn’t work in Safari 5.1.4 when you are testing on a local machine?

I put a piecemaker slideshow with embedded swf buttons where the fade in slides were. The swf buttons navigate to different sections of the page. However, when clicked, it does not scroll down the way the the menu links do. Is there a way to make this happen?
