Hi,

Is it possible to add a sidebar widget to your theme?

I know there is one at the bottom but I want it on the side.

Thanks. Pete

Hi Pete,

Thank you very much for purchasing Collections.

The only widgets area is the footer. We’ll consider adding widgets to the sidebar in the theme update.

Is there anyway I can do it or is it a bit complicated? I’ve tried doing it in the normal way but it doesn’t seem to work

Hi,

If you want to do it yourself I recomment using the child theme – this way you’ll be able to update the theme.

In the child theme create functions.php file and register the left sidebar
<?php function faktory_register_sidebars_left() {

    register_sidebar(array(
        'name' => __( 'Left Sidebar', 'faktorytheme' ),
        'description' => __( 'Left widget area.', 'faktorytheme' ),
        'id' => 'sidebar-2',
        'before_widget' => '<aside id="%1$s" class="widget %2$s">',
        'after_widget' => '</aside>',
        'before_title' => '<h3 class="widgettitle">',
        'after_title' => '</h3>',
    ));

}

add_action( 'widgets_init', 'faktory_register_sidebars_left' );

?>
Next, create a footer.php file paste the content of footer.php from the parent theme and add
        <div id="widget-area-2" class="widget-area sidebar">
            <?php dynamic_sidebar( 'sidebar-2' ); ?>
        </div><!-- .widget-area -->
after the nav container within the #navbar. You’ll also have to adjust the css, like that
@media only screen and (min-width: 560px)
.navbar .widget {
width: 18.75em;
}
Do this in the child theme css/style.css or in the Options Panel. Depending on the widget that you want to use you may have some other css adjustments.

Hi Guys,

I have the theme up and running at www.ourgatheredhome.com, it’s working great, but just wondering if there is a way to change the gallery? At the moment all the preview images are cropped, rather than their full size and proportions, it also might be nice to have them all in a single post like this.

http://www.coffeeklatch.be/en/interview/2013-11/38/jon-and-masa http://www.freundevonfreunden.com/interviews/aviva-rowley/

Any chance that is possible, I’d prefer not to lay them out and use the WP gallery plugin to make it easier to add and edit images?

Cheers

Matt

Hi,

Thank you for purchasing Collections. In this theme we decided to overwrite the default WP gallery shortcode by the slider. If you don’t want to display the galleries this way – yes, we’d suggest using a plugin.

You may need to remove the line
add_shortcode( 'gallery', 'faktory_gallery' );
from functions.php

Cheers

Hi

Loving this theme. Couple of questions:

-How can I change the opacity of the landing page background? It is a bit too dark for us

-I want to use Helevetica Nueue font, and I have the font files & licence. How do I go about adding this/uploading this, as it is not a Google Font? I want it to render on all browsers. Please provide a step by step if possible :)

Also, when a user posts a comment, it says “Your Comment Is Awaiting Moderation”. Is there anyway to hide unmoderated comments? As I will have multiple users using a single account and I don’t want them to see the questions others have submitted

Hi,

Thank you very much!

We suggest that you use a child theme for these modifications so that you could update the theme easily in the future.

Fonts: First thing – you don’t want the google font to be loaded anymore. Create a functions.php file in your child theme. Copy and paste the faktory_scripts_and_styles function from functions.php in the parent theme

<?php
function faktory_scripts_and_styles() { …
… }
Delete the lines from
$custom_body_font = …
to
wp_enqueue_style( 'faktory-fonts', $fonts_url );
(included). Next modify the line that follows directly change:
 wp_register_style( 'faktory-stylesheet', THEME_ST_URI . '/css/style.css', array('faktory-fonts'), '', 'all' );
to
 wp_register_style( 'faktory-stylesheet', THEME_ST_URI . '/css/style.css', '', '', 'all' );
Next, create a folder custom_fonts in your child theme and put your font file in there. Open css/style.css and add the @font-face declaration, for example if we had ‘YanoneKaffeesatzRegular’ that would be:
@font-face {
    font-family: 'YanoneKaffeesatzRegular';
    src: url('../custom_fonts/yanonekaffeesatz-regular-webfont.eot');
    src: url('../custom_fonts/yanonekaffeesatz-regular-webfont.eot?#iefix') format('embedded-opentype'),
         url('../custom_fonts/yanonekaffeesatz-regular-webfont.woff') format('woff'),
         url('../custom_fonts/yanonekaffeesatz-regular-webfont.ttf') format('truetype'),
         url('../custom_fonts/yanonekaffeesatz-regular-webfont.svg#YanoneKaffeesatzRegular') format('svg');
    font-weight: normal;
    font-style: normal;
}
Next if you want to modify the body font you’d add:
body, .site-description, .entry-subtitle, .faktory-section-subtitle {font-family: 'YanoneKaffeesatzRegular', serif;}
and for headings
h1, .h1, h2, .h2, h3, .h3, h4, .h4, h5, .h5, .navbar a, .faktory_page_navi, .tags-links, .entry-meta, .site-info, form label, .comment-reply-link, b.fn, .post-navigation, input[type='button'],
input[type='reset'], input[type='submit'], .adr span, .widget_calendar caption, .widget_calendar tfoot, .widget_nav_menu, .faktory-button, .navbar .search-form input {font-family: 'YanoneKaffeesatzRegular',serif;}
.site-info, .entry-meta {text-transform:none;}

In the next reply – the comments problem. Again in the child theme create a file comments.php. Copy and paste the comments.php content from the parent theme

Change the line 22 to
<?php if ( have_comments() && get_comments_number() > 0 ) : ?>
and lines 32-36 to
    wp_list_comments( array(
                        'style'       => 'ol',
                        'short_ping'  => true,
                        'avatar_size' => '74',
                    ), get_comments( array('post_id'=> get_the_ID(), 'status' => 'approve' ) ) );

amazing, thank you so much!!!!! also – last question – how do I remove the orange icons underneath each blog post?

You can do it with css (theme options)
.post-format-icon {display : none}

Hi pehaa i ran into some issue with your theme. I tried to reach you for almost a week now and can’t get ahold of you … :(

pehaa

Hi,

Please post here what problems you encounter, otherwise we can’t help.

Default-user

I am having an issue with your “Panes – HTML 5 Business Theme” .. but i posted over there aswell and didn’t get any feedback or responses.

We are trying to integrate your “Panes” theme into our design and we encounter some javascript related conflicts

I am willing to pay you for the support . I just need to discuss this deeply over the email or chat, send you some examples and describe the bug we encounter.

We really ran out of options and we need your help for fixing this. I must send you some links and files to check things out and i can’t do this inside a comment form on ThemeForest.

Can we discuss further by email pls ? Hope you understand …

pehaa

Hi,

Unfortunately we do not provide any customization services (even additionnaly paid).

how do you change the font? The font size? The font color?

pehaa

Hello,

You can change the fonts in the Theme Options Panel > Styles. There are no font-size or font-color settings built into the theme, you’d have to play with the css.

im not very saavy with computers. I tried to change the font but i don’t know how to use the google codes to change the fonts and there is only 4 font options in the drop box if you don’t use the codes. Can you give me an example of how to change it? thx

Check this screenshot: http://cl.ly/image/0R2c3C0v0D2z I just have to make sure that Open Sans has 400, 700 and 400 italic styles http://cl.ly/image/2u0h1D0h3s3N – just check – you don’t have to download anything here.

Since it’s a sans-serif font I set Font Family to “Sans serif”.

how do you add a second, 3rd, 4th page like you have in your live preview?

Hi,

You have to create new “Pages” and then add them to the menu in Appearance > Menus, the demo’s menu configuration is like this: http://cl.ly/image/450c1v1B1r2f
