Collective - Community WordPress Theme

I was able to fix everything except the Sidebar issues with text widgets. They still overflow.

If you have customers that can’t get the slideshow to work, tell them to check to see what the slug is on the “featured” tag. for some reason mine was featured-2, so I had to change that in the .php file. Then it worked.

As for the images not resizing, I read through the comments and saw the solution there.

That just leaves Google Adsense and AdBrite code in Text widgets that do not display properly. see here: http://t3kd.com

A great theme – which I’m currently trying to set up here using your demo content.

I’m sure this is a really dumb question, but can you tell me why the images aren’t resizing to fit the layout?

Do I need to install a plug in? And if so, which one?

And can you let me know if I need any other plug-ins to exactly mirror your demo site?

I have looked through the documentation, as well as all the posts in the discussion thread. But I can’t find the answer.

I am unable to get any jquery lightbox / fancybox like plugins to work. I believe it to be a problem with the jquery.tools.min.js

Really like the theme, spent hours looking for the right one and chose this.

One thing I would like to change.

Using tags to declare “featured” posts is a problem for me. I have a tag cloud on my site and so “featured” appears in there. I don’t feel this is logical because “featured” is an internal variable only, it should not appear in the tag cloud.

I would prefer to use custom filelds to declare “featured” posts. I am sure this is possible but beyond my skill.

Is this something you will consider changing?

I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, but is there a template for the blog? I can see that individual blog posts are templated, but I can’t work out what page would display the last X blog posts in reverse chronolical order like a normal blog presentation.

Just bought this great theme! I was having some issue though making it full width, (minus the sidebars) and my h2 featured text is overlapping… Any help would be great as I am a not well educated on all things css…

I tried to reduce the size of the h2 text via the css, but it just doesn’t look right.

Is there a way to auto-assign the first picture in each post to become the 'featured' image automatically?

I do not have time to go make every image a featured image as I am importing a large amount of posts from a previous blog.

Also,

When I add an image to a post that is too big, the theme does not automatically decrease the image to make it fit within the post.

How can I have the images automatically resize themselves to fit?

I’m having difficulty with the theme. I’ve uploaded the zip file of Collective that I downloaded and unzipped the file. I keep getting a Broken Themes Error: Collective Stylesheet is missing and _MACOSX Stylesheet is missing. Any suggestions.

There is a fault with the Twitter widget in Internet Explorer. The date stamp on Tweets says:

“about NaN days ago”

NaN = not a number

Please can you help with a fix for this? It fails in your live preview too.

Ok, I figured out the install part, but the display is out of whack. I have all my categories listed on the top left hand side, which pushes my posts down about a page or so. Also, the “comments” are displayed in large font and runs off into the next line.

I am unable to figure out how to attach portfolio images. I can create the page and tell it to use the Portfolio layout, but the directions supplied don’t go beyond that. Uploading images so they appear in the page’s media does nothing. There must be instructions on this – can someone point me in the right direction?

Help! After uploading Collective to my Themes folder, my Themes panel in my Dashboard says that my Theme is broken with the following note…

The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.

Name Description Collective Stylesheet is missing.

Help! What do I do? This is straight from the download. I didn’t do anything to the file structure.

Never mind. I found the problem for the broken template I posted above. It is simply to dig deeper into the source folder structure for the folder that is copied into the templates folder on my server.

Now I’m rolling…

The plugin jquery image lazy plugin don’t work with this theme, any help?

1) I am having problems with my images not fitting into the frames on the home pages- particularly the large size images in the rotating preview and the large previews. At times the images are going larger than the frame, particularly the height.

2) My frames are also not the nice, full width frames that you show on the demo site. They are only a portion of the width you have. I like what you have on the demo site and want to replicate that. Do I need to have certain image sizes or proportions coming in? Anything else I need to do?

2) I am thinking of dropping a bit taller custom image into the top banner (the banner with the site name and the search button). It would be a full jpg (and not a tile pattern). Questions… A) What dimensions would I best make the width (assuming the height can change)? What files and lines would need modified to make the height of that banner taller? C) Anything else I need to know?

(p.s. I would be happy to answer some of the questions I saw here on the forum that I could answer but I can’t seem to respond to others questions. Just fyi…)

Maximus, I think I have worked around my issues with the large images and the frame by making sure the image is at least around 575 pixels wide. It would be great to know the exact spec because I am just guessing based on experimentation.

You will see, however, that when my title is long enough to need two lines that the leading is so tight that the lines overlap. Anything I can do there?

I still have the questions around making my Site Name, slogan, and search button larger.

I am also wondering if you have a standard recommended plug-in or approach to facilitate a registration button in the sidebar. I am also using Facebook Connect.
