Very nice looking theme TIMSTL Just wanted to let you know that the font you are using looks terrible in both IE8 and FF… checked on 2 seperate machines… almost un-readable Maybe someone else can confirm this…
Good luck with the sales
Really? Are you referring to the headlines or the main text? I haven’t been able to duplicate that—I will have to check some other machines today.
I haven’t been able to duplicate, but I think the problem may have been Trebuchet MS at 12px is hard to read on some systems, so I removed it. Or possibly your system’s default sans-serif font. If you don’t have the Lucida fonts the demo will now default to Arial.
An update will be issued to TF after some more testing, but in the meantime any buyers who want to update their style.css can replace:
font-family: “Lucida Grande”, “Lucida Sans”, Lucida, “Trebuchet MS”, “Arial”, sans-serif;
with:
font-family: “Lucida Grande”, “Lucida Sans”, Arial, sans-serif;
Weird.. I’ve had 2 friends check it on their machines, and BOTH look fine, they do NOT have the issues I’m having.. so now I’m starting to wonder why on my machines the text looks awful on both IE and FF Anyone else having this ??
Check my reply above. Refresh your cache and see if it’s resolved for you.
If it’s not, then there may be some kind of font conflict with your Lucida fonts on your system. I’m not expert in that area, but if something is wrong with your Lucida font, yet it’s still enabled on your system, you could end up defaulting to a sans-serif system font I would assume.
Cool and amazing.. Good Luck sir!
Timstl,
I’m having trouble using shortcodes with your theme. Every shortcode that I try to use is just showing up as text. I’m specifically trying to get [cpcontact] to work for the contacts page. I’ve tried other shortcodes on another blog I run and they work fine. Any ideas would be appreciated.
This has been fixed, but isn’t up on TF yet. Please email me and I’ll send you the file to replace.
Great professional looking theme.. It’s definitely the ‘Complete Package’. I really like all of the admin options you have built in.
After playing around with this – all i have to say: great Theme and real FAST support! Thanx for this!
Thanks!
Timstl, how to set the slider… my slider not working…:-(
Hello,
It’s detailed in the documentation. You can use the email form in my profile to contact me directly. If you provide a URL and/or specific questions I can help you easier.
Also: Please note that the slider posts MUST have post thumbnails set, and they must be public posts.
Thanks,
Tim
hey tq for ur replied, i hv sent to u the email with my url details. pls hv a look.. i just edit the page “Biotech Financing” n follow ur instruction abt the thumbnails. pls advice.
Great work ! Just one question : can i use the wpml translation plugin with your template ? I need it for a multilingual site.
Regards,
Dom
Hello,
Sorry, I can’t say for sure because I’m unfamiliar with that plugin. I did a quick test and the plugin shows up in the sidebar, but I do not have any translations to see if it actually works.
what can i say is, this is very nice template, quick support as well.. TQ tim.
Can you give more information on how to overwrite the logo file? Can it be done without using FTP ?
The logo file is in the theme directory (cpackage/images/logos/cp.png), so you just need to overwrite that file. If you have enough access to upload the theme files, you should have enough access to replace that file I would think? It doesn’t have to be through FTP . You could use your host’s file manager if they have a control panel.
Hi Tim, This probably has a very simple solution, but I’m trying to change the white background on most of the page. Any idea how I’d do this? Thanks. www.karenkiely.com/thecakekitchen
In style.css, on line 27, the body background color is set to #FFFFFF. You need to change that to whatever color code you’re wanting.
Also, find the styles for #main. This is the main content area, which also has a background color of white. You can change that one, too, if you want.
Great, thanks for the help. Also, is there any way of reducing the size of the slider? I know the images need to be a certain size but is it possible make the slider smaller, I think it just looks a bit too large on my page.
Yes… in the CSS you would need to change the height of #featured-container and #featured .featured-item from 380px to whatever you want. I haven’t tested, but that should do the trick.
Great theme. How do I set the homepage to not show latest blog posts but to show the homepage template?
Hello,
This is covered in the “Finishing Initial Setup” section of the Documentation. You need to edit Settings > Reading to tell WordPress to display a static page instead of a blog page.
Thank you. Just the index page now says Not Found Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here.
I must say fallen in love with this theme. Took me a while to decide and yours was always on top of the list.
Ignore my last message, seems its me working out Wordpress. Had to assing the homepage to the reading under settings.
Contact form is an issue tho, keep getting: An error occurred delivering your message. Please try again later.
Hello,
The theme uses the “wp_mail” function built in to WordPress to send mails. If the function fails, it returns the error message you are seeing. Most likely your host does not have mail configured properly.
Thanks,
Tim
wp_mail functions work fine on our wordpress installtion, tried a couple of other form plugins and they worked fine. Just your contact form don’t work so need to know how you have setup the “wp_mail” to work in the template.
Can you email me directly using the form in my profile? It’d be easier than trying to help on here.
Have you added your to/from addresses in the Contact portion of the admin panel?
I’ve tried adding custom sidebars to my pages, but it’s not working. Here’s what I’m doing.
1. Add a new sidebar in the admin section 2. Adding widgets to new sidebar via Appearance -> Widgets 3. Specify sidebar on page via Replace “Default Sidebar” with “my new sidebar”. 4. Click “Update” button
When I click the update button, the sidebar setting does not save. I’m running WordPress 2.9.2 on a fresh install. What am I missing?
Actually, I think I might have figured it out. There are typos in the createsidebars.php page.
I tried posting the code, but Themeforest is stripping tags and generally annoying me so you’ll have to find it. It’s in the “create_sidebars” and “create_sidebars_replacement” functions. I needed to put an echo with the word “php” after the ”?”.
I think that’s what you meant, let me know.
It is possible that your host doesn’t allow <? instead of <?php. If so, then yes, that would definitely cause a problem. It’s something I hadn’t thought of or run into yet.
Other than that the only issue with the custom sidebars is the main blog page always uses the default sidebar.
I also noticed that a lot of the administrative checkboxes don’t seem to be sticking. In other words, I check a box in the admin section, but when the page reloads it’s no longer checked. However, the setting I just selected did change because the behavior of the page changed. It’s just not showing that the setting is on/off in the admin section correctly.
Something strange is going on with your install. I’m not sure if it’s a hosting issue or a corrupt install or what, but there should be no issue with the admin checkboxes. I’ve used every single one of them and no one else has reported any problems.
If you want to email me directly (contact form in my profile) and give me access to your admin panel I can test it out. I could more easily tell you exactly what the problem is.
Timstl,
I figured it out. It turns out there’s another instance of <? instead of <?php in themeadmin.php. Once I found that and corrected it, all worked again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, might be a good idea to update the code in case others run into this issue.
Oh okay great. Yeah I saw one in there, but I thought you were having issues with a large number of the checkboxes, and didn’t think that could be causing it. Anyway, thanks for finding that bug.
I love this theme, but the one thing missing that would make it perfect is a full width page template. Are there any plans for one in a future update?
There are no plans, but if you’re interested in having a custom template done feel free to email me.
Hi Tim, Thanks for a great theme. I’ve noticed some problems in how it renders in different browsers though. In IE 8 , the nav bar is separate from the header. There is white space between.
Also in Google Chrome (and maybe others) the social media links(icons) in the header line up vertically instead of horizontally.
I am using this theme for a client who will want the site live soon. When do you think you’ll have fixes for these two items?
Can you email me what and where to make the fixes?
Thanks.
Julie Superfly Web Designs
Hm. The theme has been tested in both IE8 and Chrome. I haven’t been able to duplicate the IE8 problem. I will retest Chrome w/ the latest version this evening.
Could you tell me what you’re using to test? Is it native IE8 , or some sort of browser testing program? Also, which version of Windows?
Thanks.
So sorry I didn’t give more details. Could it be bc I put in a logo with a larger height? You can see the site at rubinolaw.com/wp/. Pls let me know if you need more info. Thanks.
I must have made a change that caused the IE8 problem in a recent update. I will fix it. You can email me in my profile if you want the files before themeforest posts the update.
Update is pending with ThemeForest now. I had to rework how the 3.0 menus function, so several files had to be updated. I would recommend just overwriting everything when 1.1.1 is available, but if you need a specific list of files because you’ve made modifications feel free to email me.
