I purchased and downloaded Concept WP theme and I only get the “white screen of death” when I activate the theme. I tried turning off the SIFR feature in case that was the problem, but still nothing. I have manually installed many themes in the past (have my own VPS and multiple clients), so I do not think I made a mistake there. I am running WP 3 .0 and also tested on WP 2 .9.2, does not work on either.

Here’s the error code I get in my logs:

PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /wordpress/wp-content/themes/concept/index.php on line 173, referer: http://empirebuzz.com/straptpak/wp/wordpress/wp-admin/themes.php?activated=true

Please help! I love the theme and want to start using it soon! Thanks.

Hi Neural,

Try re-downloading and re-uploading the theme – the last time this happened to a user it was because a file had corrupted on the download :)

Brandon

First and foremost, this is an excellent theme. As a Wordpress novice, I can say that working with this theme has been very easy.

The only trouble I’ve run into is with the SIFR font replacement. I have the setting enabled to “yes” in the concept settings, but I cannot get it to work. Are there any trouble shooting steps I can take to hopefully get this feature working?

Thanks in advance.

Ian

the live preview just redirected me to a malware site…

Ok – should be all fixed now – gotta love it when over 40 databases get hit at once :)

Help, I’m creating an image for my site, but I need to know the name of the font used in this theme. What is the font used in the main text on the homepage??? Thank!

Omit the last question, already found the answer.

I have another quick question though. How do I edit the HOME tab on the navigation menu at the header? I want to change the language…

Thanks

Ok—so have to say disappointed here.

Have used wordpress many times before and this is the first time I come across a theme that does not let you create a menu natively!

I have pages already created that I wanted to connect to through a menu… and can’t do!

Why was this not mentioned in description—that we can not create a very basic thing such as a menu.

How can I go about this?

Have used the theme for a while and I still have a key issue: the banner disappears when you go to a second level category.

So the banner shows when I am here:

http://www.pyrenees-mountains.com/independent-walking

but not when I am here:

http://www.pyrenees-mountains.com/independent-walking/eco-independent-walking

what is that ?

I have tried disabling all plugins….

I’m currently on vacation and I don’t have internet access, but I’ll be back on September 1st to catch back up with questions :) Please post any questions to the support forum below in the meantime, as I have a few people helping out over there while I’m out.

Just a reminder to everyone posting support questions that we’re mostly not reading them here. For support, please go to the dedicated support forum: http://support.makedesignnotwar.com

Is anyone else having issues with the placement of images in a blog post? For example, I’ll add an image to my post and I want it to be center aligned. On the homepage it looks fine (center aligned) but on the posts page it switches to left aligned and the text comes in tight to the image and looks ugly! Any help would be much appreciated. Yep – just got notified of this myself – we’re working on fixing the hack :(

Hello,

Is it support arabic language?

Thanks

Nope, unfortunately it’s English-characters only – so you could use Spanish, Portuguese, etc. – but nothing that requires non-english letters.

Hi Brandon,

Love the theme!

Sorry if I missed this somewhere, but my custom callout image does not display. In my Admin Panel it’s set to display, the image sizes are correct, and everything seems to be in order, but it does not show.

I haven’t found the solution, and was hoping you could help.

Thanks! Derek

I purchased this theme a few months back but I seem to be having problem with All-in-one Seo plugin. Has anyone ever used this theme with AIO SEO or know of a fix?

I purchased and downloaded Concept WP theme and I only get the “white screen of death” when I activate the theme. Downloaded and re-upped twice and still have the same issue.

Any idea?

Heya – I haven’t heard this from anyone else yet – I’ll do a little checking around to see what might cause it – are you uploading using FTP or the Zip method?

Hey there, tried both methods. I did find it rather strange, I host about 185 WP sites and have installed hundreds of themes, this is the first time I came across this one.

Please do let me know this is for a client site…

Sure thing – checking into it right now :)

Hmm – just did two separate installations on two different WP installations (one was WPMU , the other was a clean install) and didn’t hit the white screen o’ death.

My best advice at this point would be to try re-downloading and re-installing the theme – it’s very possible that something was corrupted during the file transfer.

Either way, let me know how it goes – I do my best to follow up with this stuff :)

Cheers! Brandon

Yep, tried that, still no love :-)

Strange – I’ll do another last ditch check on some PHP settings that I encountered about a year ago where spacing caused an issue. Give me a min to investigate. B

Ok – so the only thing I can think that might help is a strange fix – I’m uploading a new theme file to be safe, but in the meantime, try stripping out all extra spaces from the end of the PHP template files – there are about 6 files that have an extra blank line after the end of the code (usually after the get_footer section), and I remember that this caused a problem in some obscure server situations on another theme. It’s totally nothing you’re doing wrong if this is the case, it’s just a strange syntax issue that I overlooked because it’s a 0.1% problem.

The new file should be up in a few days – the reviewers unfortunately take a while to approve new file updates during the week.

I am having the same issue; I am unable to get this theme to work. I downloaded the files twice and checked for trailing whitespaces. Still no luck. Im able to use other themes without any issues. My configuration is Windows, IIS7 , Wordpress 3.0.1, PHP 5 .3. I turned DEBUG on and received the following errors:

Problem with the sifr when using the arabic language, help anyone? www.cafie.se/wordpress

Heya swmab,

Arabic characters aren’t currently supported with the Avenir typeface… you’ll essentially need to use a typeface that does support Arabic characters and then create the necessary SIFR .swf file.

Hope that helps! Brandon

Also having troubles with a white-ish screen. I’ve disabled SIFR font replacement to no avail. I can see the Home and About page links (top right), two headlines, and the black slider box. That’s it. Any thoughts?

Strange… have you filled out the rest of the theme-admin panel (Concept Settings) and posted some blog articles? That should help out!

Brandon

Thanks, it was a permissions issue.

Now, I’m trying to use a custom menu entitled “Primary Menu” which has been selected in the admin panel but it isn’t updating on the site. I still have all the default ones (e.g. About, Services, Media, Home-Slider-Imgs, Blog, etc.) Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your help :)
