Never mind I found out that not putting the type=”text” in a input makes it unstyled Thanks for the great template

Hi, I’ve updated today jQuery to 1.9.1. Debugger is giving now this error:

TypeError: $(...).live is not a function

It looks like the error is in standard.js in line 42

$('.close-bt').live('click', function()

How to fix this?

displayinline

Hi,

In the recent versions of jQuery, the method live() has been replaced by on(). Just do a quick search/replace of .live( by .on( on the template JS files, and everything should work fine ;)

Tell me if you need more details!

$(”#IDofDIVtag”).loadWithEffect(“content.asp”);

when i use this, SOME of the content in the asp file loses its jquery functionality. for example I have a sortable grid in that content.asp file which gets loaded as an include (asp classic) initially, then i have a refresh button which reloads that areas container DIV via the loadWithEffect call, then the call: $( ’#photoList’ ).disableSelection(); fails to disable selection after being reloaded with loadWithEffect() as it does initially on page load. this is a typical newbie mistake, can you help me figure out what to do?

the thing i am trying to do is update content in that area, then refresh after the updates (because I do db calls to edit things via ajax) without reloading the entire page. Thanks! I will pm the url

displayinline

Hi!

You just need to set a callback when calling loadWithEffect(), to trigger the template setup function:

$('#IDofDIVtag').loadWithEffect('content.asp', '', function()
{
    $(this).applyTemplateSetup();
});

This will ensure your newly loaded content gets handled by the template plugins.

Tell me if you need more details! :)

I’m sorry if this has been asked (themeforest doesn’t seem to have any efficient method for searching comments that I can find):

On the sub-nav menu buttons with the arrow menu opener… I have it set for both the arrow and the text button to show the menu below when hovered. When hovering over the arrow, and then down over the menu below… everything works beautifully. However, if I hover over the text button and then down over the menu, the menu list flashes. It seems the browser thinks the mouse is off of the menu for a split second, so the fade in happens again.

I should note that I’ve checked this on the latest chrome (25.0.1364.152 m) and IE9 and the issue is only present in chrome.

I’m EXTREMELY pleased with this template and I understand how these browser issues can be annoying. If it can’t be fixed, it’s no big deal… but if you happen to get around to it some day, I’d appreciate it.

Thanks again for such a wonderful template.

Hi!

No problem, feel free to ask, even if the question has already been asked before scanning the 46+ comments pages isn’t practical for sure ;)

This is a known issue with this particular setup, here’s how you can fix it: edit js/standard.js and replace this part (around line 22):

this.find('.menu, .menu li:has(ul)').hover(function()
{
    $(this).openDropDownMenu();

}, function()

By this:

this.find('.menu, .menu li:has(ul)').hover(function(event)
{
    // Check if not already open (specific to menu-opener, when leaving the link to enter the menu)
    var menu = $(event.relatedTarget).siblings('.menu:first');
    if (menu.length > 0 && menu[0] === this)
    {
        return;
    }

    // Show with effect
    $(this).openDropDownMenu();

}

Now the flicker should not occur any more. Tell me if you still have the issue, or if you have any other question! :)

Hello again I’ve been wondering why you decided to use tag instead of a div or span tag with background image in the grid views. Since I’m using twig in symfony2 every time there’s an image I have to replace it with corresponding function(asset) in twig and that just doesn’t feel right Was there a problem using the other way? Thanks

displayinline

Hello,

I used images because it makes it simpler for users to replace them with their own images, but you can safely replace them by spans with a background image, of course ;) For instance:

.grid-action-icon {
    display: inline-block;
    height: 16px;
    width: 16px;
    vertical-align: -3px;
    }
    .grid-action-icon.edit {
        background: url(../images/icons/fugue/pencil.png);
    }

Tell me if you need more details!

I have one more question about the subnav drop down menus with the arrow menu opener.

Is it possible to have the menu open only when the arrow is hovered over… but have the menu lined up with the text button when the arrow is hovered over?

Explained another way, the documentation has two options of drop down menus. One with hovering over the arrow, one with hovering over the arrow or the whole button element. When the whole button element option is chosen, the drop down menu aligns with the button… when the arrow option is chosen, the drop down menu aligns with the arrow.

Is it possible to choose the arrow only option but have the drop down menu align with the button?

Thanks… I hope that question is clear.

displayinline

Hi,

This is possible with a few changes in the CSS code in standard.css. Find this style (line 1455):

.menu-opener .menu {
    left: 0;
    background: url(../images/trans.png);
}

And add two new properties:

.menu-opener .menu {
    left: 0;
    top: 100%;
    bottom: auto;
    background: url(../images/trans.png);
}

Also find this style (line 1421):

.menu-opener > a:hover ~ .menu > ul {
    display: block;
}

And change it to:

.menu-opener > .menu-arrow:hover ~ .menu > ul {
    display: block;
}

Now the menu should work as you expect ;) Tell me if you need more details!

One more question and I’ll try not to bother you again for a long time…

Given the change above, how would I have the drop down menus appear after clicking the arrow… rather than hovering over it?

Again, thank you so much for these changes.

displayinline

To do this, you first need to remove completely this style:

.menu-opener > .menu-arrow:hover ~ .menu > ul {
    display: block;
}

Then add this script in standard.js, in the addTemplateSetup() function at the beginning of the file:

this.find('.menu-arrow').click(function()
{
    var menu = $(this).next('.menu');
    if (menu.length)
    {
        menu.children('ul').css('display', 'block');
        menu.openDropDownMenu();
        setTimeout(function()
        {
            $(document).one('click', function()
            {
                menu.children('ul').css('display', '').not('.keep-reverted').removeClass('reverted');
            });
        }, 10);
    }
});

It seems to work fine here, tell me if you have any issue. Hope this helps! ;)

Hi,

I am adding a form to a page and am having some difficulty with positioning. I am using the following code to populate a form:

<label for=”fname”>First Name</label> <input type=”text” name=”fname” value=”John” />

This works fine for most things. But when I have a complex input structure on the right hand side instead of a simple input field, it occupies the whole width of the page, even covering the label. I have tried tables, div’s, simple lists and block lists, etc. and they all exhibit this layout issue. Is there a way to enforce the right hand side (where the inputs, buttons, etc. are) to remain on the right hand side? The particular form entry I am trying to code consists of a series of rows each having a label + input + checkbox/radio buttons.

Thanks!

displayinline

Hi!

You just need to add the class inline to your inner labels, to prevent them from float out of the row limits:

<p class="inline-medium-label">
    <label for="fname">First Name</label>
    <input type="text" name="fname" value="John" />
    <input type="checkbox" name="checkbox"> <label for="checkbox" class="inline">Label</label>
    <button type="button">Button</button>
</p>

If you have a more complex structure and it still doesn’t work, just show me the complete markup and I’ll guide you into making it display fine ;)

Hello,

The inline trick did not seem to work or perhaps I made a mistake in where to apply it. I uploaded an image of it and the code that generated it. Everything is inside a <form>...</form> tag. They are here: http://i.imgur.com/iJt2Y7O.png and http://i.imgur.com/kWirI9K.png

Thanks for your help!

displayinline

I think the issue may be that you embed a table inside a P tag: it is not valid in HTML5, and thus the table is removed from the paragraph and appended just below it – hence the overflow.

To prevent this, use a DIV tag instead, and add the class with-margin to preserve the bottom margin.

Tell me if you still have issues! ;)

Hi,

Thanks so much for your help. Unfortunately, it still has the same problem. The table tag solution was the last option I tried. I also tried various versions of the simple-list tags but they all behave similarly.

Now that you know what the issue is, do you have a sample markup that would work? Essentially a label on the left side, and on the right side, a series of rows each consisting of a row, an entry and a radio box. I really don’t care whether it is a table or list or something else as long as they are aligned and look ok.

Thanks again!

displayinline

Hi,

Actually, you just need to add a few extra styles in css/form.css: go to line 201, and replace these lines:

    p.inline-label,
    .inline-label p {
        padding-left: 20em;
    }
    p.inline-mini-label,
    .inline-mini-label p {
        padding-left: 5em;
    }
    p.inline-small-label,
    .inline-small-label p {
        padding-left: 11em;
    }
    p.inline-medium-label,
    .inline-medium-label p {

With these:

    div.inline-label,
    p.inline-label,
    .inline-label p {
        padding-left: 20em;
    }
    div.inline-mini-label,
    p.inline-mini-label,
    .inline-mini-label p {
        padding-left: 5em;
    }
    div.inline-small-label,
    p.inline-small-label,
    .inline-small-label p {
        padding-left: 11em;
    }
    div.inline-medium-label,
    p.inline-medium-label,
    .inline-medium-label p {

I just added a variant for the classes inline-label-*, so it can now be used on divs.

Then you form markup would be:

<p class="inline-medium-label">
    <label for="name">Name</label>
    <input type="text" name="name" value="John Doe" />
</p>
<p class="inline-medium-label">
    <label for="title">Title</label>
    <input type="text" name="title" value="VP" />
</p>
<div class="inline-medium-label with-margin">
    <label>Search Keywords</label>
    <table class="table inline" cellspacing="0" width="70%">
        <thead>
            <tr>
                <th scope="col"> Parameter Name </th>
                <th scope="col"> Value </th>
                <th scope="col"> Is Public? </th>
            </tr>
        </thead>
        <tbody>
            <tr>
                <td>My Keyword</td>
                <td><input name="key1" value="apple" /></td>
                <td>
                    <select name="pub">
                        <option value="Yes" selected="">Yes</option>
                        <option value="No">No</option>
                    </select>
                </td>
            </tr>
        </tbody>
    </table>
</div>
<p class="inline-medium-label">
    <input type="hidden" name="id" value="123" />
    <button type="submit" name="action" value="Save">Save</button>
    <button type="submit" name="action" value="Cancel">Cancel</button>

Your code is fine except the call to the click() method, which should be written in lower case (no capital C).

Hi,

I have quick question on the drop-down menus. On your demo page, you have a block which lists users, with “Grid view” as block title and an “Add” button. I really like that layout and would like to make use of it. The thing is, I want to attach the drop-down menu to the “Add” button. When I try it, the drop-down attaches itself to the “Grid view”, i.e., the h1 label instead. And when the h1 is long, it gets attached in the middle of the text. Is it possible to move the drop-down menu like this to the end or after a link or a button?

Thanks!

displayinline

Hi,

Actually you can’t have a drop-down menu on the link, because there would be inheritances issue, and the hwole menu would be clickable as a single link. You may rewrite the corresponding styles to use a DIV instead of an anchor, and then simply add the menu and the link inside of that div, but that’d be too long to explain here, sorry.

You still can simply attach the menu to the H1 itself though:

<div class="h1 with-menu">
    <h1>Grid view</h1>
    <a href="#"><img src="images/icons/fugue/plus-circle-blue.png" width="16" height="16" /> add</a>
    <div class="menu">
        ...
    </div>
</div>

Hola!

I’m curious if you have a tutorial for creating a form within a modal? I want to replicate the std js ‘prompt’ dialog and fetch the data using the callback. I’d also like to build on that idea with more complex forms but I figure it’ll be the same once I figure out how I can actually get the data back (I’ve been unsuccessful so far!)

displayinline

Hi,

Here is a quick draft you can use as a start:

var modal, form;

// Create modal
modal = $.modal({
    title: 'My form',
    content: '<form>...</form>',
    buttons:        {
        'Send' : function() { form.submit(); }
    }
});

// Retrieve and handle the form
form = modal.getModalContentBlock().find('form');
form.submit(function(event)
{
    // Prevent default form submission
    event.preventDefault();

    /*
    Do whatever you want with the form, for instance:

    // Send via AJAX
    $.ajax({
        url: form[0].action,
        type: form.[0].method,
        data: form.serialize(),
        success: function(data)
        {
            $.modal.alert('Data saved');
            modal.closeModal();
        },
        error: function()
        {
            $.modal.alert('Whoops, something went wrong');
            modal.closeModal();
        }
    });
    modal.setModalContent('<div style="height: 200px; line-height: 200px; text-align: center;">Loading...</div>');

    *** OR ***

    // Gather data for processing
    var fields = form.serializeArray(),
        values = {};
    $.each(fields, function(i, field)
    {
        values[field.name] = field.value;
    });
    doSomethingWithData(values);
    */
});

Hope this helps! ;)

This has to be the best admin template I have ever had the pleasure to see or work with! If I could rate this 100 stars I would!

Keep up the amazing work! :)

One question tho, when working with the week calendar and adding appointments it seems when my scripts put text into the appointment bubbles and the screen resolution is smaller (such as an iPad) the text will not wrap and kind of overlaps over everything. Is there any quick fix for this?

Thanks again.

displayinline

Hi, and thanks a lot! :)

About the weekly agenda view, the text should wrap if the bubble is too small, this is strange… Maybe some kind of inheritance issue, but it is hard to tell without seeing the actual code.

You may use the code inspector from your browser to inspect the CSS applied to the bubbles and check if you you find something like white-space:nowrap;. (Use F12 to open the developer tools in most browsers)

Do you have an online demo page I could check? Or if you can give me more details on how the text is inserted in the bubbles, this would help me provide a solution ;)

Hello!

I was wondering if there was a way to force all checkboxes to be a certain size. What I would prefer is for them to be same size regardless of the labels following them and if they get wrapped, to be vertically aligned with each other.

I am using the basic construct you have in the forms: a label, and a single input (or series of options in this case). Here is a sample:

<p class="inline-medium-label"> <label for="ampm">Hours</label> <input name="size" value="1" type="checkbox"> Size1 <input name="size" value="2" type="checkbox"> Longer label <input name="size" value="3" type="checkbox"> Size2 ... and so on </p>

Thanks so much!

displayinline

Hello!

You may simply create a custom class with a fixed size and wrap your options in it:

.fixed-size-option {
    display: inline-block;
    width: 120px;
}

Then use this markup:

<p class="inline-medium-label">
    <span class="label">Hours</span>
    <span class="fixed-size-option">
        <input name="size" value="1" type="checkbox"> Size1
    </span>
    <span class="fixed-size-option">
        <input name="size" value="2" type="checkbox"> Longer label
    </span>
    <span class="fixed-size-option">
        <input name="size" value="3" type="checkbox"> Size2
    </span>
    ...
</p>

Hope this helps! ;)
