Hi,

I am willing to buy this wonderful theme but like many others, I would love to see it with front end recipe submission. Do you think you will put this feature in a next update or will it be a complete different theme? Thanks, Cathy

purethemes

Hi, it’s coming with next update.

Would you like it as just a form to submit recipe, or full user registration and user profiles with recipes? I’m not sure if I should go with simple register/add recipe featuers, or try to make it compatible with bbPress

Default-user

I still would like it to be a “normal” blog with no bbpress integration but with the possibility to get recipes from users that could directly put it into a recipe for the back end if I want to publish it afterwards. Therefore, I would need the form to be including photos with the height and no width being limited (because people tend to send the full resolution pictures, which would definitely be too big).

purethemes

Hi,

new update with “front-end Add Recipe form” is ready to download. Take a look at the demo

Hi,

I bought your wonderful theme yesterday (5 Mar 2012). I exported my blog from yumzilicious.wordpress.com to a Wordpress 3.3.1 installation on my own domain at yumzilicious.com and installed your theme. I have 2 major issues: (1) Images don’t show up on the homepage with the CookingPress theme (CodaSlider is also empty) and (2) the recipe page does not contain any background image or the image or ingredients. This is true for old posts imported from WordPress.com and a new post I created on my domain after installing the new theme. Why is this happening and how I can fix it? Please advise.

Thanks!

purethemes

Hi

you need to set Thumbnail to each post to show image on homepage and in Coda Slider – like here http://awesomescreenshot.com/02b1388a6

But before you do that, important thing is to install this plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/ and run it ( wpadmin -> Tools -> Regen. Thumbnails), it will generate new sizes of images to fit them to theme without rescaling by browser – it will look better and load faster.

If you’ll have any problems with that, send me login details to your wp-admin, I’ll help.

Best regards

Default-user

Thanks for the info. I installed the plugin and regenerated all my images in the sizes required by the theme. I set the featured image for a couple of blog posts and they images show up correctly in the codaslider and the grid on the homepage. I was also able to show an image galley for one of my posts.

The other issue I have is that in a post page, the torn paper background, ingredients & instructions are completely missing (even though they were added in the post editor). Is there some other setting to enable this? See the post at http://www.yumzilicious.com/2012/03/06/this-is-the-title/. I would like this post to look like the one on the demo page at http://www.demo.purethemes.net/cookingpress/2012/02/chocolate-cherry-muffins/

Thanks!

purethemes

Please watch this screencast http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xl1Q7Jnr4Uw&feature=player_embedded In 2:00 you’ll see that you need to click that last icon with “book” in post editor, to insert recipe shortcode [purerecipe]. This will insert the recipe box like on demo page. You can put it in any place you want in post content.

Btw, if you’re happy with my theme, please rate it in your profile’s Downloads tab. I’ll appreciate. Thanks!

Default-user

Thanks, I’m now able to add recipes to each post. I’m close to being done. A few more issues:

Multiple recipes per post – I just realized that many recipes in the blog i’m working on have several items and a single [purerecipe] element per post is not sufficient. Is it possible to have multiple [purerecipe] elements in a post with each element having it’s own set of ingredients and instructions? If not, can you add this in a future version of the theme? It will be very useful.

Print icon – I installed the printfriendly plugin for wordpress but it shows the print icon after all content in the post. How do I display the print icon within the [purerecipe] element so when I click on it, it prints only the text within the torn paper background (ingredients & instructions only; not all text in the post). You seem to have done this in your demo page (http://www.demo.purethemes.net/cookingpress/2012/02/five-spice-chicken-noodles/).

Sizes of images in post body – In your demo page (http://www.demo.purethemes.net/cookingpress/2012/02/choclate-cake-with-green-tea-cream/), the size of the same image changes when the browser window is re-sized. It also has a thin white frame and image width is never more than the width of the blog post. How can do the same thing for my posts (e.g. see http://www.yumzilicious.com/2012/02/23/drunken-jamun-gulab-jamun-in-brown-sugar-spiced-rum-syrup/)? Here some images are too wide, none have a thin white frame and the image sizes do not change when the browser window is re-sized. I regenerated thumbnails for all images like you mentioned before and tried adjusting the settings in the insert media dialogbox but these didn’t help. Please advise.

Thanks for your patience! :)

ad. Multiple recipes per post

I thought about it while developing theme, but from my research it looked like most of food blogs have only one main recipe per post, and some additional info can be added in standard post content. I’ll try to find some better solution for that.

ad. Print icon

Please reffer to Documentation included with theme package, in Plugins section you’ll find step by step instructions how to setup each plugin to work like on demo page.

ad. Sizes of images in post body

Looking at source I have this images with class “img.size-full” while you have “size-large”, I’m not sure why, I think it depends on the way image was inserted into post. To make it work for you, please open files css/style-light.css and in line 156 change “img.size-full” to “img.size-large, img.size-full”, then open style.css and in line 756 do the same thing.

Default-user

Hi,

Images: I re-inserted all images in the blog in “full” size and all the images look OK now. The appropriate image size is shown when the browser window is re-sized. Thanks for the tip!

Print icon: All [purerecipe] elements now have a printfriendly.com icon. However, when I click on this, a print preview is generated for the entire post (all text & all images). Can I change this so that only the the text/images in the [purerecipe] element are printed. Click on any post in www.yumzilicious.com to see this.

Multiple recipes/post: We managed to make a single [purerecipe] element work for posts with with multiple recipes (see http://www.yumzilicious.com/2011/09/09/grand-marnier-chocolate-and-white-layer-cake/) but it would definitely be useful to have the ability to add multiple [purerecipe] elements in a post.

Coda slider issue: When featured image for a post is not in landscape orientation, the code slider does not display the image correctly and there is no text link to the post page. Is there any solution for this problem? Or must the featured image always be in landscape orientation (e.g. 700px width x 500px height, NOT 400px width x 600px height or 600px square) for it to be displayed correctly in the coda slider on the home page? Regenerating teh thumbnails for all images did not fix this issue.

Thanks!

purethemes

Hi!

Print icon: I’m afraid it can’t be changed, but big advantage of printfriendly is that there’s just a couple of clicks for user to get rid of unwanted content from print preview.

Multiple recipes/post: I’m working on a solution for that!

Coda slider issue: Yes, they should be in landscape orientation for best effect, and at least 700px x 500x, they can be bigger with slightly different proportions, but it won’t work for square images witch are smaller than 700px x 700px.

Thanks!

Hi, any idea why my Coda slider is displaying the second post’s title area like this? http://nudefood.co.nz/ Its seems to be trying put it in the right position as the page initially loads, then it drops.

Also, how would I go about changing the background color of the thumbnails area on the coda slider from black to a medium grey.

Thanks a lot for any help. Tim

purethemes

Hi Tim

In what browser you have this problem? I’ve checked it in FF, Chrome and IE8 and it works fine. http://www.screenr.com/yH78

To change coda slider background, open style-light.css and in line 240 you wil find
 .coda-nav {
  background: grey;
}
and ”.coda-nav ul li a.current” for active slide there also box shadow on .coda-slider in line 259, you might want to change it also.

Hi

May I suggest you immediately remove all the Buy It buttons from your demos.

I like this theme: http://www.demo.purethemes.net/cookingpress/ and would like to show it to a client but can’t because of the Buy It button.

If that applies to me, I’m sure it will apply to others too, so you are losing sales :(

Please let me know if you get this done in the next few day. Thank you

Mark

purethemes

Hi Mark

I think you’re the first one to point it out. I’ve removed it to see if it will really affect sales :) But generally I don’t think it’s fair to hide that you’re buying theme for your client. What if he will stumble upon another website with almost the same layout as his new website? I know it’s not my problem, just wanted to share my thoughts about it.

Cheers

Default-user

Wow, thanks, that was quick!

My impression is that most ThemeForest users are developers or marketers not end-users but I may be wrong, hence my comment.

The chances of someone finding the same theme are very, very remote and it wouldn’t matter anyway IMHO .

As for the impact of the button removal, only testing will tell!

Hello purethems, Just noticed, the theme is coming under Blog, not a website. Why I am asking is, Some places like client companies, they blocked the access of Blogs. Can’t use as website instead of Blog ?

purethemes

Hi

I’m not sure I follow. Everything in Internet you see is a website, it doesn’t matter if it’s called blog or journal or portfolio etc, how companies block Internet usage depends on their policy, which is probably different in every case. So it doesn’t really matter how you will call it.

Default-user

I agree everything is internet. But Blog is different than the regular web site. there are many institutions, just block the blogs through the firewalls due to widely it used for personal.

purethemes

You’re right, but it’s just a theme, you can use it as you want, if you want to make it as a website you can

Can I have Random and popular post option at left side. Now in demo i see Recent posts. like that Recent, Random and popular posts in one widgets with 3 tabs ?

purethemes

Currently it’s just Recent posts (but you can choose category for this widget) but I’ll try to add more widgets in next updates.

We tried to apply a border to the article.post , but we had no luck on making the template appearing right.

Now, the border is applied, but each post is down of the previous, in one row.

Can we keep the current appearence ( 2 rows grid view ) and apply a border to the article.post ?

If you apply a custom bg, posts’ visibility must wont suit to the bg.

purethemes

Each post in column view has width, and adding border to div increases this width (that’s how CSS box model works), so you need to decrease “width:” value from article.post in style.css, it’s set to 340, if you’ll add 1px border you need to change it to 338.

If you’ll have problems with that, send me link to your website and login, I can do that for you.

Cheers

punkstar69

Just did that! Thank you it worked like charm!

The only problem is that it is being displayed to the single post too.. Any ways to fix this?

purethemes
If you want to get rid of border from single post add to style.css
.page article.post, .single article.post {
border:0px;
}

Thank you! We started believing that “Quick support is your middle name” :)

I guess, all these changes, would have to be redone after you release the update with the front-end recipes submission, right?

Also, we translated the default.po file and renamed it to EL.po and el_GR.po with no luck in seing the common terms translated.

Our language is Greek and the WPLANG is set to ‘EL’.

We followed the manual instructions to upload the file in the correct directory. What can be wrong with this?

purethemes

Check wp-config.php, if you have Greek version of WordPress, there should be something like define (‘WPLANG’, ‘xx_XX’);

translated files should have the same name as this.

purethemes

Oh, and as for the changes, you can create child theme http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes and put all these changes there, these way after update you won’t loose anything. (I should probably told you that earlier ;))

punkstar69

Line 72 of wp-config.php says: define(‘WPLANG’, ‘el’);

ps Thank you for the child-themes tweak :)

*EDIT. I replaced the default.po – made the line like this: define(‘WPLANG’, ’’); and everything seems ok now.

By the way, are you plan to update the theme only with front-end recipes submission (a form or something) or letting the users to register, with available profiles etc? I think that this gonna be too much, a good recipe submission form would be fine

purethemes

Did you use http://www.poedit.net/ to translate this file? If yes, it should also create .mo file after save, and they should be named ‘el’ not ‘EL’ (letter size matters)

If it won’t work, please send me those files so I could found out whats wrong..

but now it’s time to sleep here ;) No more quick support today :D

Hello!

Love the theme! But have just a couple head scratching problems with it that I thought I would ask about :).

So…

1. Right now I have my more recent posts from a particular category showing up on my home page, so I do not currently have a static page set. But I can’t find a way to set my basic seo tags up so that at www.mysite.com it catches and displays the title, meta description, keywords etc. I have installed SEO by Yoast so I’m set through out the rest of the site, but right now the home page is blank in that regard. How can I alter this?

And…

2. Is there anyway to insert and email newsletter opt in form into the top image slider instead of the last few posts?

Thank you! And love the theme…keep up the great work!

purethemes

Hi

Thank you for kind words :)

ad1. I don’t have much experience with SEO plugin by Yoast, but from what I’ve checked, you can set title and description in wp-admin -> SEO -> Titles ->Homepage You should also edit file header.php and change line 10 to

<title><?php wp_title(''); ?></title>

ad2. It would require some modifications in code, and also some plugin for newsletter (or some widget from service your’re using for newsletters, like MailChimp), I can help you with that, just contact me via my profile page. In my opinion it would be better to put that kind of form in a sidebar or in footer area.

Thanks! Best regards

I got the first part of it to work the way that you said, and thank you for the recommendation. I might have to roll with that instead.

Keep up the good work!

Hi, Last weekend, I purchased this theme and try to a create a recipe as mentioned in Documentation. But I see some discrepancy between document and actual. I sent out an email through my account. Did you get a chance to look at that ?

purethemes

Hi, I’ve replied to your email the same day. Here’s a copy:

“It’s enabled by default. Just go to Posts – Add new, and scroll down, you’ll see form for adding recipes, just like here http://youtu.be/Xl1Q7Jnr4Uw If it’s not there, please send me login to your wp-admin, maybe something went wrong during installation, but I’d need to check it.”

Thank You !! Just wondering why can’t use Pages – Add Page. Because, if i use the Add Post, the website launch as a Blog (I do not want as Blogger). I think If I use add page, it would be launch as web site. I tried added recipe through add page option, but display as button at top of the web site. Can’t we display same like Posts ?

One more question…at least for now :)

Is there anyway to add google anayltics tracking code to the entire site at once? Or does it need to be done page by page including the header.php file?

Thank you!

purethemes

No, you can add it only in header.php, this file is called for every page in WordPress, you can also use this plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/ – it offers some nice options and you don’t have to edit any files.

Hi, delicious theme! great new update with “front-end Add Recipe form” is this theme support RTL Style? (for RTL language).

purethemes

Hi

Good question! I’ve just checked it with this plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/rtl-tester/ and it will need some fixes for CSS , especially in recipe view. I’ll fix it for next update.

What a great theme! We’re busy evaluating the possibility to connect with our Magento store..! Yet we would require features highlighting EXCLUDED food allergens from recipes. E.g. “gluten free”, “nut free” etc…! Excluded “items” should then also form part of the Advanced Search? Btw. is “advanced search” been widgetised and could such be included on the frontpage?

Any chance that this feature could be included in the near future?

purethemes

Hi

I’m wondering what would be the best option for excluded food allergens, I think creating new taxonomy for it would be the best (I’m not sure how to name it) – like now in theme there is e.g custom taxonomy for “Level” where you can set if it’s hard or easy (or any other level you created) to make recipe, it could be the same for food allergens.

I’ll need to check if it will be compatible with advanced search. Unfortunately it’s not the strongest feature of WordPress, currently it just search for tags, as each ingredient is saved also as a tag.

Advanced search is not a widget, widget should be placed in sidebar, and there could be too many ingredients to choose from for a narrow sidebar. Currently it’s a template for page, but I’ll move that code to separate file which will be easy to include with one line of code in any place (like homepage).

So I’ll add you request to next update :)

Thanks!

Default-user

Thanks for the quick feedback!

Not sure if taxonomy under wordpress would allow for multiple select, as a meal could be “glutenfree” as well as “dairy free” and more… If possible, I would call the selection “Food Allergens”... Yet to complicate matters, an additional selection (taxonomy) for “Vegetarian”, “Vegan”, “Kosher” or Halal” recipes would be great! Check boxes for input form and advanced search would be absolute fantastic..!!

Any idea when we could expect the next update? And would today’s purchase of the CookingPress theme qualify for future releases to come? ;)

Thanks in advance!! hilrap

purethemes

I would say that two weeks for next update with requested features. And yes, taxonomies allow multiple selects. For “Vegetarian”, “Vegan” etc. wouldn’t be enough to make it just as simple categories for posts?

And of course, you buy theme just once, all future updates are free.

Amazing theme! It’s extremely user-friendly on the front end for those of us who aren’t code monkeys and it looks fantastic :) Great work!!

I’ve had a couple comments from users mentioning that on the recipe post page, they tried to click on the small accompanying image to see a larger version of it. IS there a simple way to add functionality to the post template page which would allow a user to click on the image and a lighbox to pop-up with a larger version? Or some sort of similar functionality? Thanks!

purethemes

Thank you!

That’s a good idea, but there’s no simple way to add it now, I’ll add it in next update!
