hi, is it possible to replace the slider with a featured content slider on the homepage? I’d simply like the slider to show the latest ‘featured content’ tagged posts from my blog, but can’t see how to do it on this theme?
The slider can display any content you wish to display. You can display your featured articles by simply creating slides that point to your articles.
Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I don’t want to have to keep creating slides every time I add a new post though. With other sliders/themes, I just set the slider to contain the 5 most recent (as an example) featured images from my ‘featured content’ category and that’s that.
Is this not possible with the built-in slider here?
If not can I replace it with one of my other slider plugins? (Not sure where to input the php code etc)
Sorry, I’m afraid that’s not possible without customizing the theme’s files. The file responsible for the Home’s Slider is named “hero-slider.php” and located in Creativelife – includes – module.
Ok, thanks for your assistance here. Shame as it’s a cracking looking theme and I really like the drop down system for the ‘About’ section.
I was wondering if there is a .xml dummy content file for this theme.
I figured everything out! Disregard my comment above.
Hey there again,
The simplest and quickest way would be to add your <script> and <link> tag in the theme’s file named “header.php”.
Is it possible to have a portfolio item just link to a blog post and not actually open up a portfolio item?
Sure. While editing your Portfolio Item, simply add your custom address in the option “Custom Link” (“Link to:”) located in the “Item Settings” box (under the WordPress’ editor).
My post: http://www.freestylefam.com/2013/05/araabmuzik-shot/
I’m having a problem with getting a gallery post together. First off, in the post, I don’t have a “upload/insert” button at the top of the editor as the help file indicates, rather, only an “add media” button. So I clicked that, selected a few pix, and just hit “insert into post.”
That created the slideshow, but also put the actual images into the post, so I just deleted that html from the post. What I’m trying to do now is have an image for the actual post that shows up in the blog list (the 230×155 sized one). How do I get this done?
Another thing is, even though I have the gallery successfully loaded in the post, there is nowhere I can see that would show me what those pix are OR allow me to remove one. I can add more by doing what I did in the first place, but that’s it. Also, so you know, I have clicked the “gallery” button on the right hand side under “format.” Thanks for your help in advance.
Which version of the theme are you currently using?
If you enter an excerpt to your post it’ll be displayed in the posts list. Excerpts in WordPress support HTML code, you could insert an image in that way (maybe obtaining it from the WordPress Visual Editor).
I’m using WP 3.5.1 and CreativeLife 2.2. But I’m not sure you get what I mean.
For reference, here is my list of blog posts: http://www.freestylefam.com/category/blog/
Notice how there’s no image next to the post “AraabMuzik Shot” but every other one has an image. “AraabMuzik” is a gallery-type post. How do I get an image to show in the list for it?
Here is the actual blog post: http://www.freestylefam.com/2013/05/araabmuzik-shot/
Notice how the slideshow in this gallery-type post is working and has 5 images. If I wanted to remove say just one of them, I would go edit the post in WP and assume I could do it there. But there’s nothing on the screen indicating where these images are. How would I just remove one image?
P.S. – do you prefer to use themeforest’s discussion board here or in the future should I just open a ticket on your help forums?
Thanks. We’ll make a few tests and release an update regarding the Gallery management.
Sorry, I must have misunderstood – though you were referring to the article’s content. You should set a Featured Image to your Article in order to display an image in the Blog’s Home.

On a portfolio page, when I “view source”, I notice a huge section of CSS under the “Dynamic CSS” title. There is a particular line that I wish was not generated. What file is responsible for generating this CSS? How would I go about removing a single line of code? Thanks.
That section is the output of the various CSS options you’re currently using. The file responsible for this section is named “user.php” and located in the theme’s root folder.
Hi! The slider content keeps “Loading..” for some reason and it doesn’t ever appear. Is there a way to solve this and show the actual text that is written? Thanks!
Please, make sure to use a recent version of the theme. To fix the problem manually, simply head over Appearance – Creativelife – Extras and enable the option “Load jQuery Locally”.
First of all, what a lovely theme! Second of all, I have one little question.
When I try to show my latest work (random portfolio items) I’m stuck to just one album. Is it possible to select all my albums, so it will show random items from all my portfolios?
Thank you in advance!
Thank you. Sorry, I’m afraid that’s not possible.
is there a demo file for this theme?
No, sorry. The content from the Live Preview is not included.
This is an awesome theme, elegant and Simple
Thanks for your solution on above, because I got a same problem in portofolio before.
Anyway to add another social media site to the social media top header?
Yes, by editing the theme’s files. You can edit the file “social-bar.php” located in Creativelife – includes – module to add custom elements to the Social Networks list.
Any way to make the background image stretch proportionally? The default behavior is non-proportional.
Not by default, but you could use some CSS to do that (at least for the browsers that support it). For instance:
You’ll have to remove your current background image before using it.
How about a responsive update ?
I’m sorry, no plans at the moment for that.
Could you please show us how to input html hex codes when choosing colours in the theme’s control panel? This way we can maintain a certain colour all-through instead of using the slider.
A small tut will be good.
Good news: we’ve just released a major update for CreativeLife which also includes a new Color Picker for the theme’s Options Panel that lets you enter HEX codes for any color-related option.
You can obtain the latest version of the theme by re-downloading it from your Downloads page.
Thanks! I’ll do just that
Just curious… why the decision to load jQuery locally in the new update? Wouldn’t loading it from Google save any future efforts of having the latest version?
Sadly, the components we use (even our custom ones) can’t be future proof. Softwares are ever-changing and we need to be careful on which versions we use to keep the theme solid. For this reason we decided to rely completely on WordPress so that we can keep up with it.
Hey, I notice with the update that the portfolio items no longer slide up on mouse over. Is that intentional or is something broke on my site?
Never mind. I unchecked the “Disable Filtering and Instant Pagination” and it worked again. Don’t know what that does, but it worked. Thanks.
That’s strange. Please, make sure to have updated all files listed in the included “changelog.txt” file.
Our Live Preview is using the latest version as well, in case you need to compare it with your installation.
I have a portfolio named “beats”. Under that there are 6 pages (portfolio items). Is there a way to add a 7th but NOT have it show in the portfolio list of items?
Also, how do I find the page id (or post id?) of an portfolio item’s page? I’m trying to implement some custom redirect script and need an id for those pages.
1) I’m afraid not. I suppose that the only way would be to create it, but not publish it.
2) You can simply open your browser’s developer tools to see the classes applied to the body when browsing the Portfolio Item (or any other page). For instance, if you open this Portfolio Item from our Live Preview, you’ll see that the body has a class named “postid-88” which is equivalent to the ID of the Portfolio Item.
Hope it helps
