Hello SaurabhSharma,

I’ve just purchased your lovely theme, but encountered problems trying to install it on wordpress, i get a message saying “The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.” Strangely, i can see style.css in one of the theme folders. I’ve also tried using winAce (as suggested on themeforest..) but that didn’t help.

I’d be grateful for any suggestions of what to do in this case. Thanks, Nonna

Just fixed the issue, as it turns out, i was trying to install the entire theme file, while we only need to install the file called cruz. :)

Hello Nonna,

Thanks for purchasing the theme. I’m glad you figured out and fixed the issue before I could respond. :)

Practice makes perfect. :)

There is another thing I wanted to ask you about:

Is it possible to link my URL with the theme in a way that the viewers would be directed to a page and not the custom page with blog characteristics? What I mean is that the home page by default is a blog but I would like my home page to be a regular page.

Alternatively, how can I remove the blog features from the home page, just like it’s done in the Cruz theme preview?

Many thanks in advance, Nonna

SaurabhSharma

Hello Nonna,

That can be set inside front page settings. Navigate to Settings > Reading > Front Page Displays > A Static Page. Set Home page as ‘Front Page’ and leave ‘Posts Page’ unselected. Save these settings. Now your Home page will be a static custom page.

Hello platinum850,

Thanks for the kind feedback. It is very much appreciated.

Hello, I’ve consulted the Cruz documentation to fix most things on my website. Your theme is great. Is it possible for you to post a tutorial or give me an idea about how to change the color/font of the navigation menu? I’d also like to know how to change the font and color of the caption on the images in the slider, so they appear like the ones in the example you have posted.

Thanks, pfe

SaurabhSharma

Hello patrickestill,

Thanks for the kind words and feedback.

For changing navigation menu colors, kindly drop me a mail at xconsau[at]gmail[dot]com. I will send you detailed steps. About the slider captions, they are created in PhotoShop (and are part of the image). Not HTML captions. The HTML captions will show in black box and white color.

HI! I love this theme but I am having trouble separating the images.

I have created multiple portfolio pages which I want to keep different images in each, other images are showing from the other categories that I didnt include?. I even created a separate post category for my front page slider but other images are showing here as well. I’ve created a category ‘banner’ then created 5 posts with featured images. I then added these posts to the category ‘banner’ I then added in the slider settings ‘banner’ as the category id. Still does not work the address is [omia dot com dot au] am I doing something wrong?

SaurabhSharma

Hello Daniel,

Make sure you provide a category ID. This is a numeric ID like 3,4 or 10. Do not provide category name or slug. i.e. instead of ‘banner’ it will be required to provide the actual numeric ID of banner category. You can find category IDs by hovering mouse pointer on category name (inside Posts > Categories) and looking it’s tag_id inside status bar.

If you find any difficulty, feel free to send me your WP login at xconsau[at]gmail[dot]com. I will fix it.

Hi, our navigation seems to be off center. How can I fix that? http://radiancehwb.com Also I’d like to change the navigation background color. Looked in Primary Menu area … ? Thanks so much!

Thanks for your reply. The navigation looks centered cause I removed the additional pages in the navigation. If I add them back it will be off center to the right. Do you want me to add them back so you can see it? I have not edit this code at all, so not sure why it is acting like that. Thanks for your help!

It is Safari.

SaurabhSharma

Hello Teri7,

I remember last time you asked about removing secondary menu and centering the main menu. That time we added the following selector at the end of style.css file:

.nav1 { width:100%; margin-left:180px }

This was based on menu items at that time. If you add more items, reduce 180px to 150px or less (according to the length of items). Due to center align problem we cannot use margin:0 auto (otherwise this could have been easier).

Hi,

Just bought the theme many other themes provide an sql file so you can have the site exactly the same as what you see in the demo starting off.

Can you provide this? Thanks J

SaurabhSharma

Hello J,

Thanks for purchasing the theme. You can find the dummy data in XML format inside ‘cruz/dummy_data/’ folder. It also contains dummy page markup in .txt format. I hope that will be useful.

Does this theme have a blog?

SaurabhSharma, I have version 1.5. Are updates free or do I need to buy the latest one? I didn’t see a blog option in my version. But I created a category named My Blog. Basically, I just post to that category, and it is a blog right?

I don’t see a blog layout when posting a new post.

SaurabhSharma

Hello runnyeggsham,

Updates are free. You can re-download your file any time. That will be the latest one. For blog, there is a template inside the theme. In order to know how to use it, kindly refer to your_download/documentation/index.html file’s section 9. Create a blog page. There are instructions for creating portfolio page, contact page etc. I would recommend going through them once.

SaurabhSharma I am running a test site and entered the URL into w3schools CSS validator and came up with a lot of CSS errors. I believe it’s on the theme’s end. Can you look at the errors and fix them on your theme. Thanks.

http://bit.ly/T2AUPj
SaurabhSharma

Hello roblepc,

All those errors are for vendor specific extensions. i.e. -moz, -webkit, etc. These are vendor extensions of individual browsers and are not included in CSS validator. These are required for proper functioning of site across all browsers (if using css3 properties). While validating, even if you set CSS options to CSS level 3, it will still show these vendor specific errors. You would find these CSS3 properties in any modern site. It may still take some time while all browsers share common extensions and validate accordingly.

hi Saurabh,

my thumbnails are missing and also most images on the entire website. http://jazzcapital.com.my/v1/accomplishments/ but when you click on a broken-image, it brings up the image. on the front page jazzcapital.com.my the slide image is also missing, but it is all in the WP library.

Conclusion – images just doesn’t show up on the site (but all images are still in the WP Library)

Thanks for your help

SaurabhSharma

Hello Gavin,

You can update to latest timthumb here. Old versions were not very secure, and I would recommend updating to latest version at your earliest. :)

Thanks saurabh,

have already updated… the site was hacked and phished last week, probably due to the insecure timthumb.

but all is good now.

SaurabhSharma

Hello Gavin,

I was afraid of that. (Though recent versions had updated timthumb). May be you didn’t updated the theme from quite some time. But I’m glad it’s recovered now and working.

Don’t you have a forum too? Also, those “All those errors are for vendor specific extensions. i.e. -moz, -webkit, etc. ” Aren’t they what you used to make the corners rounded, etc? One of the “errors” had to do with the slider.

If it’s not on your end it’s not on your end. These same problems were found in a Wootheme that I have too but did not see them in Studiopress’s themes. So I was a little worried that these errors may affect my SEO .

I want to buy you new Xing theme but haven’t see anyone use it yet. Do you know of any sites that have used it? I really like it and it looks great but I am afraid of seeing the same “errors” from W3.

SaurabhSharma

Hello roblepc,

By Vendor prefixes I mean to say all those CSS3 properties that require different Vendor prefixes to run on different browsers. Generally these CSS3 properties (mostly used) are rounded corners, gradient, shadows, transition, etc. Future browsers may adapt a common standard of webkit, but so far each browser have their own prefixes. So when we write webkit, moz, o, etc; we refer to webkit browser, mozilla browser and Opera browser respectively. IE still doesn’t support that.

This would not be a theme specific issue. This will happen to any HTML /CSS site that uses CSS3 properties. You can get more idea by going through this article. Or you can Google about this.

For Xing, if you send me a mail at xconsau[at]gmail[dot]com I can send you a couple of implementation examples. Since they are still under construction, I can’t post links here. :)

About Forum, sorry I don’t have one right now. All the support is handled from comments and email.

Saurabh,

I am interested in this theme, but I am concerned about the image size for four Columnar Portfolio. Currently, it seems like the image size is a rectangular 300×225. Is it possible for one to change the image size so that it is 300×300 or 225×300? How hard would it be and is that something you should be able to provide pointers to?

SaurabhSharma

Hello escapetraveler,

My apologies for that. I should have mentioned that there is one CSS selector that is overriding the height. Inside style.css file, around line no. 350:

.port4_img { ... height:144px }

This height will also go as 500px. I hope that will fix the issue. Once again I’m extremely sorry for skipping this.

It works…awesome. In your theme demo, you were able to make Page 1 of 2 and Page 2 of 2 in buttons instead of the current older post and newer post which makes it more difficult to scale if you have many portfolio pages (4-5). How and where in the code did you do that?

SaurabhSharma

Hello escapetraveler,

Pagination is shown if you have WP PageNavi Plugin installed. The theme has built in style support for this plugin. You can find more instruction inside documentation file’s section 18. :)

Hi,

I recently notice that my “Cruz Twitter Widget” is not displaying the latest news. Has there been any change to the way this works?

Thanks.

SaurabhSharma

Hello LDesp,

Recently, there were some changes to the twitter API . So the old method of fetching tweets doesn’t work any more. I am working on updates and they will be available by Monday.

If you wish to fix it before that, there is a one line of code change inside includes/twitter_widget.php file, line no. 31:

 <script type="text/javascript" src="http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/<?php echo $user_ID; ?>.json?callback=twitterCallback2&count=<?php echo $number; ?>"></script>

Change this to:

<script type="text/javascript" src="https://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.json?screen_name=<?php echo $user_ID; ?>&callback=twitterCallback2&count=<?php echo $number; ?>"></script>

This will fix the issue.

I would like to be able to post thumbnails of images in a sidebar, and when a user clicks on them, the photo comes up in the center of the screen (as they do throughout the rest of the site). Is there a way to do this?

SaurabhSharma

Hello ccorpusa,

For this purpose you can make use of the Minifolio Widget. Inside Appearance > Widgets, drag a Cruz MiniFolio Widget inside sidebar and provide categiry IDs to fetch posts from. This widget will show featured images from the posts of specified category. These images open in prettyPhoto lightbox in the center of screen. I hope that will help.

I have recently bought your theme and was trying to configure the slider, there I came to know that I can use only post images in the slider :(.

Is there any way I can just add the images in the Media Gallery and use the image ID in the slider … PL guide.

SaurabhSharma

Hello webkarma,

Thanks for purchasing the theme.

By default, the theme shows posts slider. But you can make use of the Custom Embed feature for inserting a slider with media images. It will be required to place some HTML inside the ‘Custom image and Embed code’ text area in page options panel.

For this, and for breadcrumbs, kindly drop me an email at xconsau[at]gmail[dot]com, along with your WP login and URL . I will place sample markup and let you know how it is done. :)

Hello!

I recently updated my wordpress installation, and I’m noticing that my jquery banner is no longer working? Can you let me know what I’m missing? Has there been updates to the theme that handle this?

I did a ton of customization to the theme, and I’m afraid of doing anything that will alter it.

Any help you can give, I would appreciate for ever!

SaurabhSharma

Hello Sheila,

I just checked the site (from one of your old emails). The banner seems to work. If the site is other than that one, kindly send me the URL at xconsau[at]gmail[dot]com. I will check it.

For reference, the theme was updated recently. There should not be a conflict with jQuery.
