Hi,

A couple of questions:

1. How can I change the URL of individual portfolio items from ”..../portfolio_post_type/portfolio-item-name” to ”/roster/portfolio-item-name”?

2. How can I re-order the portfolio items, e.g. by name?

Thanks Rich

Hi there,

1. You can modify the permalinks by heading to the Settings > Permalinks option within the WordPress admin, however be aware that you may not be able to remove the custom post type name (portfolio_post_type) in the link as it’s designed to function this way. See the following link for a little more info on this http://wordpress.org/support/topic/remove-permalink-slug-from-custom-post-type.

2. Portfolio items are ordered in the WordPress admin by date so to order them in a custom way you can so by going to the portfolio overview by going to Portfolio > Portfolio in the WordPress admin and hovering over a list item and selecting ‘Quick Edit’ which will bring up the date settings for you.

Hope this helps, Martin

Hi Martin – thanks for your reply. I really just want to change the name of “portfolio_post_type” to “roster” – hopefully that is easier than removing it?

Hi Rich, Unfortunately it’s not as straightforward as you may think, however I would imagine there will probably be a WordPress plugin available to handle such a change so it may be worth a look through the WordPress plugin directory.

Kind regards, Martin

Hi Martin,

Sorry, another thing.

How can I make the social links in the footer widget go to target=_blank ?

Thanks Rich

MushinDesign

Hi Rich,

If you feel comfortable editing files you can go to the file within the Cubano directory, and then open up functions > widgets > widget-social.php and half way down the file you will notice several identical lines which is the link outputs for each social icon.

For each one of these, within the “a” tag you can add target=_blank after the php call to output the link you entered within the theme options.

If you’d rather not get stuck into the file, just shoot me an email from my profile page and I’ll send you an updated file which you can simply drop in the folder and replace the old one.

Kind regards, Martin

Hi Martin, I really love the theme. I have a couple of things that I would like to edit if possible? 1) any way to add more than 5 images to a portfolio item? ideally up to 20 but if not then 10. 2) Is there a way to disable the two options that appear on the rollover’s? thanks Steve

Hi Steve, just replied to your email.

Hi Martin,

Is there any way to use shortcodes within tabbed content? I would like to use columns, etc.

Thanks Rich

MushinDesign

Hey Rich,

I’m afraid not, using shortcodes inside of shortcodes generally causes issues and isn’t really recommended due to this.

Sorry Rich!

Hi Martin,

Do you know why the description of a portfolio item (when clicked to enlarge the image with the magnifying glass icon) says “undefined”?

I have added a description to the image in the media gallery, added text to the portfolio item content, added an image caption… nothing seems to work.

Try the image on this page. http://www.chevronactionflash.co.uk/media/squad-photos/

Thanks Rich

Sorry, you may also see that I’ve removed the “link” icon, as I don’t want people to access the image page. How can I make the magnifying glass icon only move as far as the centre when it glides in?

MushinDesign

Hey Rich,

The preview description text should read as the following: “See preview of (Title of project)” I notice you’ve made quite a lot of changes could you have changed anything which may have removed this?

For the icon, to get it centered, you will need to open up the file js/scripts.js and look for a code block which has a commented title of “Overlays”, just over half way down the file.

When you find this, the line that targets ‘overlay_zoom’ needs changing – if you remove left:”53%” and add in left%”. You’ll then need to add to your CSS (you could do this in the custom CSS panel in theme options if you like) .overlay_zoom { margin-left: -25px; }

Let me know if you need any more help, Martin

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the info.

Ideally I want to show a unique description for every image, that can be written when the image is chosen. Is this possible or will I have to customise things some more?

Another question! In single portfolio view, is it possible to restrict the navigation to within one category?

Hi Martin,

I have restored the original template-portfolio.php file and the error still occurs with “undefined” showing as the prettyPhoto description. The only thing I had changed was to comment out the link icon. But now it’s restored I’m not sure it can be to do with anything I changed?

Hi Martin – the problem was due to a plugin that removed the title tags from any hyperlinks.

MushinDesign

Ah glad you got to the bottom of that!

Regarding your earlier questions, they would both take some advanced customisation to achieve if you wanted to get stuck in to coding or hire someone to do the work for you.

Kind regards, Martin
