Hi,
A couple of questions:
1. How can I change the URL of individual portfolio items from ”..../portfolio_post_type/portfolio-item-name” to ”/roster/portfolio-item-name”?
2. How can I re-order the portfolio items, e.g. by name?
Thanks Rich
Hi there,
1. You can modify the permalinks by heading to the Settings > Permalinks option within the WordPress admin, however be aware that you may not be able to remove the custom post type name (portfolio_post_type) in the link as it’s designed to function this way. See the following link for a little more info on this http://wordpress.org/support/topic/remove-permalink-slug-from-custom-post-type.
2. Portfolio items are ordered in the WordPress admin by date so to order them in a custom way you can so by going to the portfolio overview by going to Portfolio > Portfolio in the WordPress admin and hovering over a list item and selecting ‘Quick Edit’ which will bring up the date settings for you.
Hope this helps, Martin
Hi Martin – thanks for your reply. I really just want to change the name of “portfolio_post_type” to “roster” – hopefully that is easier than removing it?
Hi Rich, Unfortunately it’s not as straightforward as you may think, however I would imagine there will probably be a WordPress plugin available to handle such a change so it may be worth a look through the WordPress plugin directory.
Kind regards, Martin
OK thanks, I’ll have a look
Hi Martin,
Sorry, another thing.
How can I make the social links in the footer widget go to target=_blank ?
Thanks Rich
