Hi Flow! It is possible to have two or more “content_block” per page? Thanks a lot

Flow

I think that it will gather them all together and merge into one carousel.

You’ll need a different plugin to have this functionality because this one works in one way only.

Such plugins are described as “content sliders”: http://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=content+slider but I can’t find anything similar in the plugins repository unfortunately. There are other interesting solutions though so you may want to check it anyway.

Is there an option to make the top info bar sticky and not a dropdown, like this: http://liquidfolio.queldorei.com

Are there options to make sidebars on the blog?

Is there an option to put live text and content up near the logo (ie, Name, Site Description, Tel. Number, etc)? If not then I need to be able to put it in the info bar and not as a dropdown (always visible). Social icons, too.

Just let me know if template files or CSS need to be edited. Thanks.

One more question: Do you have a Google Fonts menu for quick font selections while designing live?

Flow

1) You can make it have .info-box { margin-top: 0; } instead of margin-top: -100%; in style.css.

2) Yes, you can set sidebar in [Pages > Blog] assuming that “Blog” is your page for posts in [Settings > Reading].

3) Technically nothing prevents you from adding your custom action hook in header.php somewhere in the <header> section. Example: <?php do_action('my_custom_header_action'); ?>. After adding it you can insert there any information using a plugin, a child theme or the parent theme’s functions.php file. More: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/do_action

4) Google Fonts menu for quick font selection is not available at this moment but it’s on our ‘to do’ list for the future.

Thanks, Flow.

where can i see the change log for this theme? i tried it searching it everywhere.

Greetings,

I am currently a proud buyer and user of your theme. Questions:

1. How do I add an next/previous images to the attachment page? I see that the Konzept v2. theme has this implemented as requested. http://themeforest.net/item/konzept-fullscreen-portfolio-wordpress-theme/2383907/comments?page=40#comment_5276049

2. How to add search icon on homepage?

Best regards.

Flow

It’s possible. You can add it anywhere in header.php and style it to be positioned for example at the very right. You’ll also need to shift the menu to the left a little bit and consider what is going to happen on tablets and mobile phones (will the icon disappear? Or move somewhere else? Or turn into search box?).

So, to header.php goes a container like: <div class="my-icon" /> and to style.css goes styling (similar to the one used in compact header).

I’m not providing the full code here because I’d need to test it first to be able to provide it. An average developer would be able to do this for you in <1 hour.

HpnotikQrew

Like the Konzept theme, I would like it to appear as a search box on mobile and tablet devices.

Flow

I thought it’s about Daisho. In Konzept this search icon is already there and it’s present on blog and single post pages:

.blog .compact-search,
.single .compact-search {
    display: block;
}

You can extend that with .home .compact-search, at the beginning to make it appear on the homepage as well.

Similarly the search box is already there:
@media (max-width: 720px) {
    .blog .site-header .search-form,
    .single .site-header .search-form {
        display: block;
    }
}

Is it possible to have Instagram icon for social?

Default-user

Please advice me on how to add the files as I can’t find original files.

Default-user

I also need to change the fonts for Menu. Which can I edit?

Flow

The icons set that is used there (Web Symbols) doesn’t have Instagram icon. You’ll have to use for example this: http://fortawesome.github.io/Font-Awesome/icons/

Steps to add or edit the icons:

  • In project-container.php you can edit their HTML (this works just like in any other theme),
  • In style.css or /modules/library-isotope/portfolio.css you can style them to your liking (this also works just like in any other theme),
  • What is different in this theme is a piece of JavaScript present in /modules/library-isotope/portfolio.js that updates the URL and the title associated with each icon when you switch projects dynamically (without page reload). You’ll need to duplicate this too for the newly added icon or you’ll need to enable page reloads.

Doing this modification requires a basic HTML/CSS/JS knowledge just to identify which place in the files needs to be changed. If you’re not able to do that then I’d recommend contacting someone from http://www.microlancer.com/explore/wordpress-customization – they’ll be able to adjust that to your liking.

The menu font is present in style.css in section “4.4 Navigation”: .nav-menu li a { font-family: Dosis, sans-serif; font-weight: 700; font-size: 16px; }.

Looks like a great theme. could I ask if I can do the following with it?

Can we change the theme colour? Can we change the fonts? Can we make the portfolio listing thumbnails full width? Does the theme have a built in twitter feed? Can I remove the icons from the top nav?

Thank you

Flow

I’m glad that you like the theme and please accept my apologies for delayed reply.

Currently there are no tools that would allow you to adjust these things in the admin panel but you can change anything you need using a child theme – http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

There is no Twitter feed but you can use a plugin to add it. Most plugins’ style will fit the one the theme has.

Navigation icons can be removed. It’s enough not to specify them in [Appearance > Menus].

Another question, is there a way to change the width of the whole thing? Because when I used 4 columns it seems a bit tight.

And I want to change the info box and text colour to another colour besides black and white?

Flow

I’ve got a feeling that you have some design ready and that you need a developer to adjust the theme in a couple of places to make it look like the design. You’ll find such people here: http://studio.envato.com/explore/wordpress-customization

The first two questions are answered here: http://support.forcg.com/topic/daisho-common-changes

You can aim paragraphs only in certain sections or only on certain pages. Example code that would affect paragraphs in the project description section only: .project-description p { }.

Default-user

Hey Flow,

I have no problems adjusting the thumbnail sizes and overall width of the template, etc. However I can’t get it responsive like when I look at the page with a smaller screen, only 2 columns appear instead of 3. Which part can I adjust to make it responsive to fit into smaller screens without affecting the columns?

Flow

By default there are five columns. As the browser window size gets smaller various media queries are triggered. For example:

.tn-grid-container {
    max-width: 1125px;
    width: 92%;
}
@media (max-width: 1240px){
    .daisho-portfolio .tn-grid-container {
        width: 900px;
    }
}
@media (max-width: 960px){
    .daisho-portfolio .tn-grid-container {
        width: 675px;
    }
}

Then once the resolution is very low (so below 480px) the thumbnails become two times smaller and the spacing between them also becomes smaller:

@media (max-width: 480px){
    .element {
        width: 144px !important;
        height: 98px !important;
        margin: 0 3px 3px 0 !important;
    }
}

The lowest supported resolution with this setup is width=309px and the thumbnails are present in two columns on such resolution.

This is how it looks like on iPhones in portrait mode (width=320px): http://i.gyazo.com/c9eddfdc26b8c56e7d55e4150c27e437.png

You’ll find media queries responsible for these changes in the main style.css (main container scaling) and in /modules/library-isotope/portfolio.css (thumbnail and portfolio styles).

Hi! I’m trying to make Daisho NOT responsive. I’ve got one large image on my front page (portfolio) that’s been spliced into sections (portfolio items). When on a mobile, the image obviously renders incorrectly.

I’ve tried deleting:

<meta name=”viewport” content=”width=device-width, initial-scale=1”>

But the site’s still responsive. Any thoughts?

Many thanks.

Gareth

Flow

If you did only the first two steps then it should be mostly not responsive already. All the containers should have fixed width.

You can get rid of every block of code that begins with @media. They are located mostly in section “8.0 Media Queries”.

Default-user

Hi Flow. I’ve done all of the above but the portfolio page is still responsive. You can see it here: http://thelowripughfoundation.org.uk/

Please let me know how to deal with this as soon as possible. Many thanks.

Gareth

Flow
There are still elements like:
.welcome-text {
    max-width: 1120px;
    width: 92%;
}
and:
.tn-grid-container {
    max-width: 1125px;
    width: 92%;
}

You’ll find that in /modules/library-isotope/portfolio.css.

I should have mentioned that portfolio styles are located in portfolio.css (because I’m considering making it a separate module that can be used in other themes as well).

Hi, works with WooCommerce? Thanks

Flow

Technically it does but WooCommerce templates are not styled (so they have their default style) and I didn’t test it thoroughly. Therefore, it’s a better idea to use an ecommerce theme that comes with a documentation that covers WooCommerce setup.

Hi, maybe answered before but can’t find it… What is the location on the server of the language file? I have created (translated) a Dutch-language PO.file and uploaded it to wp-content -> themes -> daisho -> languages folder, but nothing’s happening… Appreciate your help. Thanks, Henk

Flow

The POT file is located in /wp-content/themes/daisho/langagues/ folder.

  • Please make sure that your PO file is named correctly. Similarly the MO file should be present with the correct name (this one is used by WordPress).
  • Please install WordPress in Dutch or set WPLANG to Dutch to have it loaded: http://support.forcg.com/topic/translating-themes

This person does this correctly: http://support.forcg.com/topic/english-translation-does-not-seem-to-work

Hi flow

I like your theme but I want custom things with it

can you help me ^^

uaeraw@gmail.com
Flow

Hello, I’m glad that you like the theme.

It’s easily customizable because it’s based on the default WordPress framework. It has clean, short and documented code.

You can send the description of the changes and some mockups to the developers on http://studio.envato.com/explore/wordpress-customization and they’ll send you an estimate cost and completion date. You can then decide if you’d like to stick to this theme or keep looking for something that is closer to your needs.

Hi Flow, thanks for your fast reply! If I do what you suggest, instead of my translated words, the theme shows words in Polish… Any idea? Thanks. Henk

Flow

WordPress will automatically load MO files from the theme’s and plugins’ language folders in the WordPress’s current language.

If you’re using Dutch WordPress, it’ll load Dutch MO file (if it exists).

Are you sure that your MO file exists with the correct name? What is its name? If you’re using WordPress in English then you’ll need to configure WPLANG like described on http://codex.wordpress.org/Translating_WordPress#Using_Localizations

If Polish strings show then it must have loaded pl_PL.mo for some reason. Maybe you’re using some plugin like WPML and it loaded this?

Hi there

How come that my page looks bad in IE 11.0: and IE 9?? I would like to send you a screen dump but don’t know how.

Thomas Hillerup

Flow

It looks exactly the same in IE 11 and Chrome for me.

You can download https://gyazo.com/ to quickly capture and share your screen.

It because that the owner of the website says that there is people who sees the website differently on their screen and they are using IE9 and IE11 I haven’t seen it myself. What can bee the cause of that??

Flow

IE9, IE10, and IE11 should display this theme the same way like Chrome or Firefox does. Comparison: http://support.forcg.com/topic/daisho-not-working-in-ie

Maybe the person that tested this for you used IE9 in compatibility mode which would use mechanics from older IEs to render a page.

Hey Flow, first of all: I love that theme! documentation and the support are awesome too. Thanks for that! I tried out the 1.9.1 version of daisho in which I found a lot of page options in the add/edit page panel. Now I bought the 2.0.1. versions and those lovely options are gone.

The problem I have now is the following: I have examplepage-1, on which the h1 .page-title should be shown. Then I have examplepage-2, on which the h1 .page-title should be hidden. In 1.9.1 I could easily change this by using the page option interface.

What I thought of so far is uploading a child theme, adding something to my css like: .page-id-66 .page-title { display:none; } I guess this will work but I would prefer changing those things via wordpress interface. Do you plan to bring this feature back? Or can you maybe recommend a plugin which offers similar options? Best regards and thanks, Mary

Flow

I’m glad that you like the theme!

You don’t have to buy v2.0.1. All the updates are free forever.

A lot of these options were moved to better places (mainly [Settings > Reading] and [Pages > Portfolio > (some portfolio page)] and [Portfolio > Add New]). For example when I added multiple portfolio pages support I moved all the options like “thumbnails order” to [Pages > (any portfolio page) > Order].

Some options are gone (favicon, SEO). That’s because it’s a better idea to use plugins instead. They have more features and are updated independently – http://support.forcg.com/topic/knowledge-base-plugins

Now back to your questions:

  • As for the changes you’re looking for I think that it never had an option to hide the title. If it had then only in a couple of first versions.
  • .page-id-66 .page-title { display:none; } in a child theme is probably the best you can do. It’s the recommended way of modifying themes. I would use this method on my own website.
  • Yes, I’m planning to add there styling options, including the one to hide the title. It’s just a matter of time. v2.0.1 of this theme has a decent structure and code already and I’m working on new features now.

Hi Flow, How are you?

In my website vyaa.com.br when i scroll down the mouse the slider done a little mass.

how can i do to fixed and just change the slider when the people click above the narrow?

Flow

Hello, I’m fine and I hope you’re well too!

In slideshow.php you’ll find a comment that says “Create controls (keyboard, mousewheel, mouse click)”. You can remove the block of code (four lines in total) that has mousewheel word in it.

Alternatively, you can upgrade to LayerSlider (included with Daisho v2.0.1). Example slideshow can be downloaded here: http://docs.devatic.com/daisho/#installingTheTheme

Hi Flow, help me?! I updated the theme version and site was totally un setup. And now i can’t access my dashboard. Please help me? vyaa.com.br

Flow

From which version did you update?

Please check:

Dashboard should be always accessible regardless of the theme version. If it isn’t then it may indicate some other issue. Did you update WordPress to 3.9 as well? Maybe updating went wrong? In such case you’ll need to reinstall it and such option is available in [Dashboard > Updates].

Hi Flow ! I really like Konzept, but I have too much text for this theme, so Daisho is better for my purpose.

1/ Is it possible to have compact (sticky) menu everywhere on the site ? 2/ Is update with new options (styling by example) near ready ?

Thanks for these stylish Themes, not so easy to find.

Flow

Thank you, I’m glad that you like the themes :)

Yes, Daisho is an upgrade of Konzept that was created mainly to allow people to add more media to the portfolio. It makes the portfolio look and work more like a standard page.

1) Yes. Please add compact-header class to the body tag on every page on the demo website using Web Developer Tools (F12 in Chrome) to see how will it look like.

2) I have a lot of things ready but they aren’t yet ready for publication. It shouldn’t take much longer but I can’t provide exact dates yet.

Hi there Just for your information. I am having some issues using “Barley – Inline Editing Plugin for WordPress” along with Daisho. The title of the post is not editable and the plugin can’t recognize the Portfolio post type. I am in contact with the developer of the plugin to reach a solution and will keep you posted.

Best regards

Flow

All right, if you’ll need me to investigate that further you can create a support ticket and I’ll login to your WordPress and let you know what was wrong.

Daisho is 2 years old and back then I thought that people will like a portfolio page without page reloads and with the thumbnails visible beneath it.

In 2014 I can say that it was a mistake. AJAX and experimental stuff may be good for single websites but for ThemeForest where there are thousands of people using this theme it’s better to stick to the default behaviors (i.e. default file structure, page reloads enabled, no experiments).

All further themes I’ll create won’t have such experimental things and thanks to that they’ll be compatible with plugins like the one you mentioned out of the box.

Since the portfolio page in Daisho looks like a normal post or a normal page people think that it in fact is a normal page but it isn’t. Technically it’s just a lightbox like this one: http://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-lightbox/screenshots/ and it has all the limitations that such lightbox has.

“Portfolio with page reloads” feature was introduced 1 year later but it still doesn’t entirely work like page.php or single.php because it doesn’t have the loop. I can’t change that at this point (I would have to stop loading the thumbnails beneath the project and many people wouldn’t like it) but it’s a good lesson for the future and your feedback confirms that the mechanism I used shouldn’t be used. Thanks!

Default-user

This theme is amazing and I love the Ajax reload. In fact I will probably disable Ajax only for logged users =) so they can edit stuff without any issue (as needed).

It would be a nice touch to be able to disable Ajax for different roles for instance – or maybe it is too specific.

It would be nice to have different ways of showing a single portfolio page (as a lightbox-like page or a conventional page) but there is no loss there if you don’t have it.

I acquired Daisho the the other day and I am really enjoying the theme.

Five stars rating for design, support and functionality!

Flow

Thank you, I’m glad that you enjoy the theme :)

In the future I’m planning to separate this portfolio from everything else and make it a shortcode that can be used in any theme. The AJAX part is unfortunately not how WordPress works by default (because it can’t technically load “portfolio page” and “project page” at the same time) so I think that the default mode will be the one with page reloads and it will simply load single-portfolio.php (or single.php if a theme doesn’t have single-portfolio.php) and additional modes will include any custom link or a lightbox.

Before that happens I’m working on a couple of other improvements such as adding WooCommerce support and a few other things that people request often.

You can disable AJAX only for certain people in /core/body-class.php but I’m sure you already know how to do it because you seem to be proficient with WordPress and code :) A simple if statement like presented on http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/is_user_logged_in should do the trick.

Hi, Is there a way to give up using Ajax to fetch the portfolio data and other pages? Thanks

Flow

When you enter any portfolio page it stores all the data of each project in a single object (to avoid AJAX because there is not much data to be loaded with it). You can restore standard page reloads using “Portfolio – enable page reloads” from http://support.forcg.com/topic/daisho-common-changes

Flow, I was able to change the colors in this theme through the style.css However, on the portfolio page, the color for the categories such as “identity” and “print” still show the default color. How do I can the color for this?

Flow

Most portfolio styles and scripts are separated because I’m hoping to make this portfolio a stand-alone module. You’ll find these styles in /modules/library-isotope/portfolio.css.

The FAQ may be helpful if you’re doing some changes. It may contain some hints or full answers: http://support.forcg.com/topic/daisho-common-changes

If I understand correctly you’d like to customize the excerpts that your blog page shows because it shows the full blog post by default instead of an excerpt. Please take a look at:
