It have no update release for a while. There are still many good way to improve the theme like make the footer widget easier, make a layout builder or integrate the revolution slider with good UI interface.
Any plan for any of them?
Thanks
Yes, we’ll keep updating it on a regular basis, no worries
The nearest update is coming this month or at the beginning of a new month. I see many ways to improve it too.
I really love Daisho theme, tested trial website and excited to purchase the theme. However, currently I have all my photography portfolio managed through SlideShowPro Director and all these while I have been using SlideShowPro Director plugin to attach images to my wordpress posts/pages .
Will I be able to use the same method to ‘pull’ my images from the SlideShowPro Director CMS into Daisho’s Portfolio instead of uploading the images all over again? I can’t find the answer by using the trial website as plugin installation is not available.
Appreciate your feedback. Thanks!
Great
I’m glad that you like it!
To be honest I haven’t tried SlideShowPro Director so I’m not sure but if you’ve got these images in Media Library then they will stay there.
Nonetheless, slides editor generates shortcodes and I’m afraid that you’ll need to generate them again (and maybe yet again in the distant future once we release SuperSlide Editor v2).
The good news is that you do this only once (or twice) and images will stay there permanently. I think it’s acceptable even if it’s not particularly interesting task. If you’re planning on having not too many projects (up to 50-100) then it shouldn’t take more than 1-2 hours.
Please let me know if you need more information about that
Hello.
I have a problem with the template: in the home page I have this error:
Not Found Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here.
why is this happening?
here is the site: www.cloudnova.it
how do I fix this?
You need at least 1 post.
Ideally, each post type should have at least 1 post but just standard ‘post’ will do
I hope that helps.
when I update portfolio Thumbnail image, mouse hover did not work.
how can i fix it?
You can upload thumbnail image to [Portfolio > Add New] and you can pick mouse over color right next to it. If it doesn’t work then you’re probably using external URL image and v1.9.0.1. I suggest that you upload that image to your own Media Library or update to v1.9.0.2 in such case – that’s the first version to support external URLs.
Why external URLs were not supported?
Due to security reasons. To sample color from an image your computer had to download it first from potentially untrusted source (external URL that is beyond your control and may replace that image with something else). This limit is still present because it’s in-browser limit. We use workaround to make it work (if an image is from external server, it is temporarily downloaded to your server first).

I hope that helps!
Hi Flow, Really love your theme(s). I have very little experience in Web dev, explaining the following basic question.
I am particularly interested in having the possibility of two languages (English & French) how that’s working ? can I enter somehow both languages or is it an “automatic” translation. I am afraid automatic translation won’t reach my expectation. If automatic is it possible to revise it ? Sorry again, guessing the question might be trivial for most here…
Thanks and Great job again !
In short it’s like:
1) You install WordPress (automatic)
2) You install Daisho (video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yvf2dcPfiHM) and import sample content
3) You have a website that look and works like demo
==========
4) Now you need some plugin to add translation tools because Wordpress doesn’t have them. Daisho is compatible with WPML and their plugin is additional cost ($29 or $79). There are free solutions out there but this one seems to be the only that works just fine and supports everything (menus, post types, custom fields, widgets and basically everything).
5) And lastly you spend like 10 hours on getting to know WPML and translating your website. You’ll certainly need to contact our and their support several times if you haven’t used that plugin before but it’s not that difficult – I think that you’ll understand everything and after doing it once you’ll know how to translate also other themes
Many other themes also use WPML.
Some basic guide: http://docs.devatic.com/daisho/locale.html (some kind of step by step guide is there).
WPML has many more guides. They alone are enough to configure everything.
Many thanks Flow for the quick reply. I will look into it.
Can i change the opacity of the single project background? I don’t want to see trough it . thanks !
Yes, the selector:
.project-coverslide-visible { opacity: 0.97; }. You can use it under [Daisho > General > Custom CSS Code]. Please change the value to 1 to have no transparency at all.Hello!
I’m considering buying this template to my Portfolio. I was hoping to know:
- Is it possible to have a fixed left-sided menu with all my projects listed? Would the organic grid at home work well with this?
Thanks!
“Is it possible to have a fixed left-sided menu with all my projects listed?” – it’s a bit hard to imagine how this should look like but… you can check out trial website – this will tell you what’s already possible and obviously custom modifications are also possible (like moving filter to the left).
Hi, is possible in portfolio/superslideo upload a local video? When i try it disapper from page…
thanks
Yes. You can do that under [Portfolio > Add New] when you click on “Video” icon. It’s recommended to use YouTube or Vimeo though – they have optimized videos and professional player. Players built in browsers are not that advanced.
Please create a support ticket if you believe that something disappears and requires our attention. We can login to your admin panel and check that.
Hi, when i add a selfhosted video..it disapper from “new portfolio”..but can i add simple video?..or a embedded page with player, code and video? sorry but i’m beginner..
Yes, you can add a HTML5 Video, YouTube video or Vimeo video. You can do that in posts, on pages or in portfolio projects.
It’s best to use YouTube or Vimeo but if you need HTML5 Video for some reason then please keep in mind that you need all HTML5 Video formats for it to work: WEBM, MP4, OGG.
It surely works if done correctly. If you have any difficulties making it work then it’s enough to create a support ticket and we’ll check (and setup) that for you.
Hi there,
we are really interested in this theme, yet we have some questions to ask before purchase. You see, we are no Web-Devs or something, so maybe these quetions sound a bit dumb – but we simply don’t know it better and don’t know who else to ask.
1. Pictures and Rollovers in Main-Window
In the mainwindow, we see all these nice pics that lead us to different projects. When we rollover them, it changes to a different pic with a selectable text. Would it be possible to have a different picture as rollover? E.g., we wanted to make b/w images that get colored when hovering the mouse over them.
2. “Organisation” of Mainwindow, links to Categorys
I don’t know if I can explain it good in english, so I also made some basic slap-comps in PS to express my question. We want too have many different Images of lets say 3 different categories in the mainwindow in the tab “all works”. So, lets say 3 pictures of each category. In the normal setup, I get directly to the project when I click one of those images. What we want is, that if you click one picture here (for example one of category 1), you instantly change the tab into the category 1. So you change the tabs, rather then getting directly into the project; you get a detailed view on this category in the same layout.
To make this even more complicated: when you switch to a new category, you get more items in the view. In one category maybe 3 new images, in another 10. They simply add up when getting into this category. When switching back to “all works”, the default view should be restored and the additional items disappear again. When you’d click on a Picture INSIDE the Category, you’d enter that detailed project-information.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/748408/misc/daisho01.jpgIs that possible?
Best Regards from Berlin, Lucas
1) ”...would it be possible to have a different picture as rollover…” – Not without a modification.
1a) ”...we wanted to make b/w images that get colored when hovering the mouse over them…” – that’s easy with SVG filter. It will take you like 2 minutes to enable. I even created that mode a few months ago but it’s disabled and hidden. After purchase please create a support ticket to get the code.
2) Here I would first consider how would this work for average user – would all of them understand this? It’s not a good idea to make something accessible with 2+ clicks. Users don’t think too much when they browse websites – they need everything presented in a clear manner. Maybe it’s a better idea to create sub-portfolio-pages and have sub-categories there instead?
If you’re sure that it has to work this way then the thing that you describe would require a custom modification to the original script. You can test what’s currently possible on a trial website. And to have a developer complete that modification for you please visit “Hire Developer” support forum area (available after purchase). If you need to get a quote from developers before purchase please email me to get a temporary item purchase code that will allow you to register. Rough estimate is that it’s at least 2h task. Developers work for whatever the current worldwide average hourly rate for 5+ years in WP/HTML/CSS/PHP/JS development field is (~$50/h as of 2013). Completion time: 1-3 weeks (depending on the current volume of requests).
Hi there Flow,
it’s going to be a photography portfolio site, and with growing projects that should be promoted you’d have dozens of icons that have to be available on the front page (in the sample-site it’s only 13 items, but think of 30, or more). So getting them into sub-categorys (e.g., one only Portrait, one Landscape, etc) is a must IMHO. Using sub-portfolio-pages would introduce the need of having one license for every category, also making it hard to change between categroies – or do I understand you wrong? Sorry, I’m not native english.
Thanks for the quote on the additional modification-support, it’s definately considered.
best regards, lucas
I’m looking at the past comments and I just noticed that your one is left unanswered yet. Please accept my apologies for delay! You can contact developers in Hire Developer and get comments and quotes before purchase.
Daisho is highly flexible and customizable so it should be a good base website for further modifications. Many people modify a theme in various directions – it’s often only a start point.
Hi Flow, thx for very nic template
I have a problem with footers. I can’t edit them. When I go to the appearance/widgets I see Footer 1, Footer 2, Footer 3 and Footer 4 and i can’t edit text like: “This footer column has the following CSS classes: grid_12 footer-not-responsive demo-placeholder” on the Footer 1. I use Wordpress 3.5.1. and daisho-v1.9.0.1.
Thanks! I’m glad that you like it
Footer description is used only in admin panel under [Appearance > Widgets]. It has no role other than that
It’s there to remind you what kind of footer columns is this.
You can easily remove that description under /framework/miscellaneous/sidebars.php (on line 20) if you don’t need it there.
Wow, very fast reply, thx its works!
Please, tell me where I can change the lines height from the Homepage Welcome Text?
Ideally, I’d like to ask you to create a support ticket and we’ll be able to provide you the code
It’s hard to paste any code in TF comments. You’ll find everything related to Welcome Text in style.css – selector:
.welcome-text(line height, fonts, top/bottom spacing etc. – almost everything is attached to this selector).Hello Flow, really nice template. I´m enjoying a lot. Look, I only wanna change 3 things, can u help me? First, i would like to change the name of the filter “All Works” to “Todos”, second, on the project page there´s the link (arrow+back) to go to back, I would to change “back” to “voltar” and third and last modification i would like to change “Date” and “Client ” on the projects especs to “Data” and “Coleção”. So, can you help me out? Thanks
Renata

The most elegant way would be to use PO/MO translation files but you can also do that directly in theme files.
I love this theme! I’m playing with a trial site, and when I put an Iframe in a page or a post it disapears when I update the page. I can put an Iframe in a portfolio post via the slider manager, but no luck in a page.
Putting an iframe in a post or page should work the same way like in Twenty Twelve – there are no differences between the way we print post and page
If you’d like me to take a look please link to the page that you created.
Just wondering if the theme has spry tab plugins? All of a sudden several of my pages will not show on my website or database, but the pages are still active inside my wordpress admin. I talked to my hosting provider and they said there is a problem with the theme. I was also told about maybe a spry tab plugin error? I could not find it in my wordpress plugin, so it must be something built inside the theme? Any help?
We use very simple, hand-made script to handle tabs. There are no built-in plugins. Entire code is custom. That’s the first time someone reports this kind of an issue.
Please open a support ticket – we can login to your WordPress or server and investigate that. Perhaps it’s something simple.
I opened up a ticket
Trying to follow up. I have not heard anything from the ticket support system. It has been 9hours
You created it 17 hours ago and the reply appeared 13 hours ago. We usually need 24-72h to reply.
I logged in to your Admin Panel but I’m not sure which pages are missing. There are many pages under [Admin Panel > Pages] and there are many pages on the actual website as well (all of which are working). Did you add them under [Appearance > Menus]?
We do not include any plugins and there are no scripts that can potentially hide pages in any way. If a page exists under [Admin Panel > Pages] and if it is added to the menu under [Appearance > Menus] and if WordPress managed to update .htaccess with settings chosen by you under [Settings > Permalinks] then the page should appear on the actual website and should work.
I responded to you in the support ticket on your question
Nevermind. I paid another tech person to look into this matter. Thanks anyway. They found some CSS errors.
Great! If I knew what exactly was missing I would certainly help as well but it looked quite normal when I logged in (like everything is in place).
I’m really enjoying this theme, but need to make a couple tiny tweaks. Is it possible to change “Agency” and “Our Role” titles on the header information for each portfolio item?
I’m glad that you like it
Sure, you have two options:
1) Do that directly in template files: project-container.php (and also these files may contain some strings: single-portfolio.php, template-portfolio.php, index.php).
2) Or use PO/MO files and translation: http://docs.devatic.com/daisho/locale.html#rightOption
If you need more information or exact places to change please create a support ticket – I’ll be able to paste screenshots or code then.
Cool. I had tried changing them in project-container.php with no success, but looks like it worked this time. Thanks for your help!
If it worked then that’s fine
If you still need help then it’s much easier for us to paste any code, screenshots or to login to your admin panel to help you using support forum. So if you need help again I encourage you to visit it to get more accurate and quicker answers
Thanks!
Hi there, fantastic theme, well done. Before i purchase, can a Lightbox effect be used for each portfolio item (enlarging it), instead of going to a detailed page of that item?
cheers…
Lightbox is implemented but it’s not added as an option to the portfolio. Nevertheless, it’s something that is easily doable. Developers in Hire Developer support forum area already completed such modification for some people so I’m sure that they can quickly do that for you too.
We use this Lightbox: http://www.no-margin-for-errors.com/projects/prettyphoto-jquery-lightbox-clone/ so if you take a look at their demos and at Daisho’s thumbnail structure it will become clear that it almost matches and only slight changes are necessary. In short, developer will add
rel="prettyPhoto"to each thumbnail, will disable current function that opens a project and will add one or two additional HTML elements to match demos from Lightbox page.Difficulty: Easy
Time required: ~1h
I hope that helps
appreciate your response, thank you
oh and one other question: with the drop down tab at the top, will that be read as SEO content by google? thank you
Yes. Google will pick something it chooses (and that’s usually content located at the top) unless you specify your own META tag with description for that page.
thank you Flow
I’ve just installed the theme and am quite enjoying it. My only question is, will there be an option down the road to embed interactive .swf files in the portfolio? Basically, I have designed interactive info graphics that I would like to display as part of my portfolio.
Yes and luckily this option is coming very soon. For now you can use “Custom Code” to insert some code but it’s passed as an argument of a shortcode (and therefore it doesn’t allow nested shortcodes or some characters) and in v1.9.1 you’ll be able to use this to insert any code (including shortcodes).
For now please try standard
objectorembedcode in that field – just like you would do it in post or on a page.I can login to your admin panel and help you do this if you create a support ticket with your website address, login and password.
How are you?I am living in South Korea, my name is the Lesigner Saw the demo page. Considerably weave structure that I like. But slow. Mainly used in Korea, IE6, IE7, IE browser. Speed ??is the most important problem. How can I fix it?
The page loading speed may depend upon your location. For me Daisho without any content loads in just 300-500ms and if we add a few portfolio images it goes up to ~1.5 seconds. There is no IE6, IE7 or IE8 support – we’re not planning to add it. There is IE9 and IE10 support and support of all browsers that meet current standards. The browser must support for instance:
As you can see all browsers support these things except IE8. Here’s very long and official information about compatibility, with screenshots and statistics from multiple sources: http://support.forcg.com/topic/daisho-not-working-in-ie (available after registering).
Hi!
I have recently purchased the Daisho theme and I´d like to add subcategories to portfolio categories. For example:
Graphic Design
—-> Logos / CampaignsWeb
——> Design / ProgrammingI realised that it´s possible to add subcategories in the Daisho Portfolio menu but it does not show them in the Home page portfolio menu.
It just shows as another portfolio item. Its possible to show them as submenu, as dropdown or another way?
Thank you in advance!
Sub-categories are indeed WordPress standard for all post types but not all themes will list them with indentation or drop-downs.
Currently there’s no way to show them as drop-down in portfolio filter. They will be listed in standard style. You perhaps didn’t try that on a trial website before purchase – it works the same way so I believe that everything is 100% transparent.
We don’t have such suggestion yet and I think that having such complex structures may result in more disadvantages than advantages. It’s recommended that you split your portfolio into sub-pages rather than sub-categories and that you limit each page to at most 20-30 works (to reduce number of HTTP requests).
Nevertheless, that’s something that is relatively easy to be added if you really need such feature. It’s as simple as extending HTML filter structure and adding it some style to make it pop up on mouse over. Developers in Hire Developer support forum area can surely do that for you.
Difficulty: Easy
Time required: 1-2h
If you’d like to drop such suggestion please create a support ticket – we’ll be able to discuss that and you’ll be able to monitor updates related to such thing. However, please keep in mind that there are many more suggestions and we treat them with low priority – we’re focused on bug reports, crucial issues and core mechanics more.
Hi Flow!
Ok, no problem, so I´ll try another formula to sub-categorise these items, maybe using the main menu and it´s submenu items as you say.
Thank you for fast reply!
Regards,
I’m looking at the past comments and I just noticed that your one is left unanswered yet. I’m sorry for delay! It’s best to use the support forum to get quicker help.
I hope that you already managed to do something about this. If not, please let us on on support forum and we’ll do our best to assist.
Hi Flow, thanks for your prompt answers to my earlier questions.
I am a photographer and my current website has ecommerce. Is it possible to use a plugin like woocommerce within your Daisho theme?
thank you
We’re planning WooCommerce integration but that’s of low/medium priority. It’s not something that will appear in the nearest update. Nonetheless, you can use WooCommerce with its standard templates and style. It should be fully compatible even at this point but there’s simply no style for it, yet.
thanks Flow
