I’m having the same problem that jlipking was having with the menu disappearing behind the slider when attempting to center the logo and menu. I’ve configured the CSS as you specified, but my menu is disappearing too. Have you identified a fix?

Hi,

You also have to remove the height property of the #header-top section.

Hi Pexeto.

I bought your theme.

I like it so much but I have a problem: I need to insert a simple image gallery like your ‘portfolio gallery image’ template but without creating a post for every image.

One other question: is it possible to use accordion slider in two different pages using different images setup?

I need an answer as soon as possible.

Thanx so much.

Hi,

Regarding the portfolio items – this is a standard approach of creating galleries, especially when more options are available (as in this case).

Regarding the sliders – for each slider you can specify one set of images, but you can display the slider on as many pages as you like. If you need to show some more images, you might consider using one of the other sliders that the theme goes with – you can specify different sets of images to them.

I am having problems creating galleries from my photos. It am getting lost in the documentation and I imagined it would be straight forward.

I was hoping to do the following:

Create unique galleries for each page. Create slide shows for my galleries Create a photo gallery for slide show with my blog post.

I have not been able to create a 2 column photo gallery from your demo site. Would you be able to give me step by step instructions? Can you clarify if your themes are able to do the above?

Thanks,

Kris

Hi,

This theme provides a standard way of creating portfolio items (especially since WordPress 3.0 has been released), this is how most of the WordPress themes implement portfolio galleries.

If you would like to have a two column portfolio page, you just have to:

  • assign the portfolio gallery template to it
  • select the two column layout in the page’s options
  • create several portfolio items

If you would like to have multiple portfolio pages – page1, page2 and page3 you have to:

  • create 3 main portfolio categories for each page, for example cat1, cat2 and cat3
  • for each page select the category whose items will be displayed (in the category option of the page)
  • create the portfolio items – you have to assign one of these categories depending on which page you would like to display the item

I hope you will find this helpful :)

Hi, I’ve two blog posts at the moment and they dont align correctly.

Hi,

This is happening because the page is designed to contain full width images. However, you can very easily fix this by adding the following code in the Dandelion Options->Styles->Additional Styles section:

.blog-post {
float:left;
}

Pexeto,

I love your theme, however when I tried to install it in wordpress, I got an error saying “Are you sure you want to do this?” but no button saying yes or no, only a “try again” button. I can send you the page source, screenshots, or anything you need to fix this. I’m using wordpress 3.0.1, and I have had no trouble installing other themes.

Thanks, Amy

I guess you might be trying to upload the whole zip file that you have downloaded and this is not correct, because this file contains not only the theme, but PhotoShop files, documentation, etc. You have to unzip the download zip file and there you should see the zipped theme and after that you can upload it from the Install Themes section of the admin panel. I think it should work :)

ErreBi siad the following:

“I like it so much but I have a problem: I need to insert a simple image gallery like your ‘portfolio gallery image’ template but without creating a post for every image.”

I have the same question. Whether it is a standard approach or not, the theme I used before this one had the option to put images in the Media Library of that page and they would form a gallery (without having to create a post for every photo). See London Creative for an example.

I have some big images sets and it’s a waste of time to create posts for every image. In this way, I get discouraged to create big galleries.

Is there a possibility to implement both ways of adding galleries? Portfolio-wise (the way it is now) and the way I just explained?

Thanks and all the best, Casper

With my experience of my previously created themes, people need different settings to set to their portfolio items – ones need to open a bigger image in lightbox, other need to open another website, third need to show some more details about items after clicked on the portfolio item and also lots of people need to set categories to their items and to be able to create a filter for them. These settings cannot be set if you just insert the images into the Media Library and call them. Additionally, this is a recommended way of creating portfolio items – in this way we get a full advantage of the great features that WordPress 3.0 offers.
I have created this theme so that it will be flexible for anyone to set it in the way they want it. I have set all my demo portfolio pages for less of an hour and I don’t think this is such a lot of time, as this is something you set just once. If this is so important for you, you can try to use a plugin whose main functionality is to insert lots of pictutes at once, I am sure there will be plenty of them.

Thanks, I see your point. It isn’t very important to me though and maybe I miscalculated the time I need to create my galleries.

Hello! I love your WP themes – especially as a photoblog. I had asked this exact question on your Athology theme, but was curious to know if your Dandelion theme had this as well….

Does this theme have the option to choose single column for the BLOG ? I see that your pages have the option to be full-width. But can the blog posts be full-width as well?? :)

pexeto

Hi,

Thank you very much, I’m glad you like my themes :)

Yes, there is an option to make blog page and blog posts full width.

Hi,

Love the theme but I am having a few problem when using the columns and jquery tabs

When I enter content the next section appears to go down one line. This is the same for both the tabs and the columns function.

Do you know what may be causing this error?

Also is there anyway to make the portfolio section have the title link to an out side webpage and use the button element in the portfolio item description?

Thanks and keep up the great work with the themes

pexeto

Hi,

Thanks, I’m glad you like it :)

I think that maybe WordPress is generating extra rows, maybe you can try to insert the shortcodes on one line (without going to the next one), but please make sure there is a space between each shortcode.

Regarding the portfolio – you have to do a small code change – you have to open the script/portfolio-setter.js file and on line 136 change the following line:

title='<a href="'+obj.permalink+'">'+obj.title+'</a>';

to be like this:

title='<a href="'+obj.customlink+'">'+obj.title+'</a>';

In this way your title will link to the site that you have inserted in the Custom URL field.

If you would like to use the button in the description, you can use the HTML version of the button:

<a href="http://site.com" class="button"><span>Button</span></a>

Hi there,

Any way to remove the gradient beneath the slider in the container?

pexeto

Hi,

The easiest way to remove the gradient would be to add the following code into the Dandelion Options->Styles->Additional Styles section:

.content-gradient {
background-image:none;
}

I Pexeto. regarding the portfolio:

I made all of those:

  • install the latest version of WP and Dandelion theme
  • create a portfolio category
  • create the portfolio items, upload an image and assign the portfolio category
  • create a page, assign the portfolio gallety template, and the portfolio category
  • deactivated all the plugins
  • open the theme’s header.php file and move line 84 around line 39 (before the
  • calling of the theme’s script files)
  • set functions/cache directory to be editable (777)

    .... but in the portfolio gallery I can see only white squares with preload image !

    Can you help me solve this problem?

    regarding the psd files:

    why the content-container css is 980px and the content-bg layer in PSD file is 960?

    I’m customizing the theme and this is a problem.

    Thanx

  • pexeto

    Hi,

    Regarding the portfolio – can you please provide a link so I can have a look?

    Regarding the PSD files – during the process of work I have decided to add some extra space on the sides, but this doesn’t affect the elements that might need to be changed. The only difference is that in the CSS there is a 10 pixels more space on the left and right side – the layout is absolutely the same.

    Hi there – I’m currently building my new web site based on the Dandelion theme but I am having trouble with the Visual Editor. When I try to add an in-text link instead of the normal user friendly dialog I get what appears to be a developers dialog with {#advanced_dlg.link_title} type labels. Is there a problem here?

    pexeto

    Hi,

    I’m not sure what exactly is happening as I haven’t experienced this so far, but I think that this is something that WordPress generates, I don’t think it is related with the theme. However, when you insert any code, please make sure that you do it within the HTML tab. Also, it is possible this to be caused by a plugin you have installed, so you can try to temporarily disable the ones you have just to check this.

    Default-user

    Hi there,

    Thanks for getting back to me on the Visual Editor issue but I haven’t installed any plug-ins. I currently have a plugin called Askimet which was there after I installed WordPress and your theme.

    I have put a screenshot of the offending dialog on my site so that you can see the problem: http://www.designedforlearning.co.uk/wordpress/about/

    I see that the editor is from TinyMCE – are there any known problems with this?

    Regards,

    John

    pexeto

    This is a bit weird, probably something got bugged with the WordPress, but I think that if it still works and you are able to do what you want, everything should be fine.

    Hi,

    How can I increase the homepage boxes from 3 to 6 ?

    Many thanks, Loris

    pexeto

    Hi,

    The theme currently supports 3 boxes for the home page and increasing their number would involve not only changing the page template code, but also changing the admin area where you can insert the boxes content. Therefore, I think the easier way to accomplish this is to insert the HTML code of the boxes into the HTML tab of the page and edit the content from there. If you would like to do this, please send me a private message, so I can provide the boxes HTML via email.

    Hi, great theme. One MAJOR problem. Seems that something causes my site to go down. Hosting support tells me that there’s too many PHP -processes.

    I have not installed any additional plugins.

    pexeto

    Hi,

    I can think of two main reasons for this to happen – either your server is too limited and can’t handle a WordPress installation or there has been some kind of DoS attack to your site, but I don’t think this problem is related with the theme itself. So if the problem is with the server limitations you can consider moving the installation to another server. If you think that this might be caused by some kind of attack, you will have to do some additional investigating- maybe you will need to have a look at the server’s logs and try to find if there are too many requests from the same IP address.

    Hi Pexeto,

    I really like your theme and want to purchase it, but before I do, I just want to ask about the ability to add a shopping cart to this theme and if it was possible?

    Hi,

    Thank you for the interest :)

    What you need can be accomplished by using a plugin and generally this theme is a standard theme, so everything should be fine with adding the one you need. I have tested the theme with the WP eCommerce plugin and everything seemed to be fine with it, so you might consider using this one as well.

    Hello,

    Is there any way to have a background image instead of a patterned background or a solid color background?

    Thanks and loving this theme!

    pexeto

    Hi,

    Thanks, I’m glad you like it :)

    Yes, there is – the easier way to accomplish this would be to replace one of the existing pattern images (that you are not going to use) with your background image. As soon as you replace it, the image will be displayed in the admin and you will be able to select it. If you would like to make it non-repeatable, you have to add the following code in the Dandelion Options->Styles->Additional Styles section:

    body{
    background-repeat:no-repeat;
    }

    Can’t seem to get the portfolio page to load.

    I did ftp my files up and I did set the cache directory to 777.

    I have set the page template to portfolio gallery and I have two portfolio items as can be seen in the footer in the recent portfolio items.

    take a look and see if you have any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi,

    I can see that there is a conflict occurring on your page and I guess this might be caused by a plugin you have installed. There is a solution for these kind of conflicts that I have included in the latest update of the theme (which is now available – you can download it for free and also try the new Pexeto panel implemented into it). However, if you don’t want to install the update, you can open the header.php file and move line 84:

    <?php wp_head(); //leave for plugins ?>

    somewhere around line 39 (before the calling of the theme’s script files)

    If you are interested about the styles – there have been added some changes in the style.css file, but again in the bottom of the file, so if you have done some other changes previously, you can just append mine to your file.

    Hello Pexto,

    Really enjoying the ease of use with Dandelion!

    I have two questions:

    (1) When I create a child page and place it under a parent page, the Menu shows the arrows (Menu >>), but the child page does not display (drop down) during hover. However, it will display if I create custom Menu’s, but ideally, it would be automatic as my site grows.

    (2) The columns code does not seem to be working and it just displays like this:

    Column one Column two etc

    Both these issues came up in both new hosted and local installs. Any advice is appreciated,

    Saki

    Hi,

    I’m glad you are enjoying working with the theme :) Here are my answers:

    1. The theme is designed to work with custom menus so I recommend using the custom menus for a best performance.

    2. Can you please provide a link to a page containing the columns so I can have a look?
