When you go to the “Downloads” section, you can always download the latest version of the theme available – I just redownloaded the theme to make sure that everything is okay and indeed it was the latest version in there – 2.7.0. You can check the version you download when you open the theme’s style.css file – it states the version of the theme in the top of the file.

First of all – thanks, I’m glad you like the theme
I guess you might be trying to upload the whole zip file that you have downloaded and this is not correct, because this file contains not only the theme, but PhotoShop files, documentation, etc. You have to unzip the download zip file and there you should see the zipped theme and after that you can upload it from the Install Themes section of the admin panel.

Dandelion is a great theme, but I think you should update it to make it responsive.
It will server everyone, and get you more sales for this theme.

We are currently planning this implementation for our themes, however I don’t want to make any promises as most of our themes contain lots of sophisticated functionality (sliders, galleries, carousels, etc.) which may be hard to be made responsive, so all this would require quite lots of planning and additional work, but overall we are planning to give it a try.

Experiencing the same problem as rolandaa, cannot get hold of the 2.7.0 version, all I get is 2.6.8 – could this be solved or explained in any simple and working way? I went to the download section, did download as advised, but still the same old version… What should I do? Irritating glitch in an otherwise well working system…

P.S. When posting please explain what makes you think that it is still the old version, as when I download the theme from ThemeForest it contains the latest version 2.7.0.
Took a closer look and realized I had mixed up the numbers in …themeforest-136628-dandelion… and thought it was 268… Sorry, my bad. Installed this version and tadaa… there was the 2.7.0

It is only when this theme is activated.

Generally the theme is built according to the best plugin compatibility practices, so it should be okay with using the plugins you like. Specifically regarding the Woo Commerce plugin – I haven’t received any feedbacks about it, but I know that lots of people use the theme with the WP e-commerce plugin without any problems.

The sliders support images only. Alternatively it would be easy to modify the static header to display a video or make the slider open a video in lightbox after you click on the image.

I think I will purchase the Dandelion Theme but I have a couple quick questions first. One, would there be any issue incorporating a message forum in the future? Would it have to be a completely external and linked forum or is it possible to incorporate one into the theme itself? (sorry if this is a dumb question or doesn’t make sense lol, I’m not really familiar with them) Two, when images are viewed in the Lightbox, how are they sized? Do they display at whatever size the actual image is or do they get resized/compressed to a standard size or limit? What happens if an image is larger than the page width? Is it cut off, compressed, or does it scroll?

Here are my answers:
- Generally the theme is built according to the best plugin compatibility practices, so it should be okay if you choose to use a plugin, however it always depends on the plugin/external functionality you are going to implement – it is impossible to test the theme with all the thousands plugins available, however we have tried to follow all the best practices. You may consider using the BbPress plugin for WordPress.
- By default there isn’t any image size modification in the lightbox – always the original image is loaded in its original size, however when the window is smaller than the image, the image gets resized by the browser to fit in the window. You can test this if you make your window very small and then try to click on an image. Also, there is an option included to disable this resizing and always should the image in its original size regardless the window size.
This theme has one limitation, in that it will not autosize to a screen. So on any 15” or larger screen, I feel that the theme loads way to narrow, i.e. there is a TON of wasted screen space to the left and right. This is viewable space above the fold the most critical space for any website as this what is a viewer will see on their first visit. This same limitation also effects the viewer if you minimize the theme. It does not auto shrink to the smaller size and thus content is cut off. As most themes still seem to be, this theme seems dedicated to a 800×600 or 1024×650 screen resolution and I personally don’t feel that for a photography site, this make much sense. With all the other excellent features that this them offers I am VERY surprised to see that it’s hobbled by a fixed screen size. The theme is designed in a classic fixed boxed layout and this is how a very big part of the websites are designed (also, you can see in the theme description section, that the theme’s layout is advertised as “fixed”). We cannot change the default theme design in an update and change other people’s current site design, as this is not something that everyone wants, so if you want to change the default design on your site, you may consider customizing your own theme design in the way you like.
