I followed the tutorial and plugged it in the Search.php. it seems to be working somewhat as it is loading up the first images but its showing as a link not as an image. ex) http://tinyurl.com/77vs7ly

and also what is the .php file for the blog template?

awesem

Hi Jeanius,

it appears that you are outputting the image url only rather than the full image tag. You could try something like this:

<img src="<?php echo $first_img; ?>" />

I will have limited Internet access over the coming days. If you have further queries on this then please create a thread in our support forum and our support team will be able to assist you there:

Wondering if it is possible to change the author link where it says “By (Author Name)” at the top of a post to the About page. If so, how?

awesem

Hi Callmejobs,

the author name gets output in single.php using a native WordPress function:

<span class="author"><?php _e('By', 'framework') ?> <?php the_author_posts_link(); ?></span>

This function is defined here: http://awe.sm/dF0O

Please feel free to amend this as required and let us know if you experience any problems with this.

Thanks

Yeah, guess I am wondering how to have it link to another page instead…I am not familiar enough with this.

How would I have the author name link to the “About” page instead?

awesem

You could try something like this in single.php:

<span class="author"><?php _e('By', 'framework') ?> <a href="http://www.awesem.co.uk/about/"><?php the_author(); ?></a></span>

Please let us know how you get on with this.

Hi, Love your theme but i am having a hard time assembling the home page….I just wanna make it like the demo hompage how can i fix this? my site is cueandking.com

awesem

Hi sdyksterhouse,

thanks for your query and we are pleased to hear that you like our Deadline theme. In regards to the homepage, by default it will display the blog-style layout. What you need to do is create a new page and assign it the homepage template. Then under “Settings > Reading” you can set this new page as the front page. The remaining settings for the homepage can then be set via the theme options under appearance > theme options

Please let us know if you experience any problems with this.

Thanks

Hi Jeanius,

After having a look at it, I’m not sure I entirely understand your question. What do you mean by “search result implementation”?

Hi Olaf, what I meant exactly was that if you go back a page in the comments a month ago we talked about adding Search Results to the next update and this was your response:

” Hi Jeanius, we’ve implemented the search result page modification on our demo site and we are planning to get this out later on this week:

http://awe.sm/5oBKb

just wondering when the new update for 3.4 will be out and if this will be included in it. Thanks.

awesem

Hi Jeanius,

We will release a new version of Deadline next week and yes the search result will be implemented.

Cheers

Hi.

Your theme appears to be available for free over at themesky.com.

Is this right – it felt far too good for a free theme.

awesem

Hi rmunday,

thank you for raising this. We sell our themes exclusively via ThemeForest and it shouldn’t be able for free anywhere else! There are a number of illegal themes sites and I wouldn’t recommend using it from sites like that as the theme might be stuffed with malware, Adsense or dodgy links.

The theme is also v1.0 and we have released a number of updates since then. v1.2.2 is the current version.

Please let me know if you have any further queries.

Kind regards

Olaf

Thanks for your reply Olaf.

I thought this was the case. Working with WordPress myself on a regular basis – I was shocked to see websites giving away others themes for free – I certainly won’t be using.

I like the Deadline theme a lot – so I may come back and purchase it soon.

thanks

Rob

awesem

Hi Rob,

we’ve released Deadline v2 yesterday and it’s now fully responsive, WPML compliant and the homepage is fully widgetised. We built the theme on top of our brand new WordPress framework and it contains a whole array of new features and functionality.

When you purchase and download the theme you get access to both the responsive and non-responsive version.

Have a look at our new Deadline v2 Demo site and let us know what you think: http://awe.sm/f0BNw

Hi Olaf, just wondering how can you make all Category Blocks have same size Thumbnails? Recente Posts & Feature Post blocks have smaller Thumbnails than the First 2 Category blocks. and then the last 2 category blocks do not support thumbnails at all.

Also is it possible to add more category blocks? Thanks

awesem

Hi Jeanius,

I hope you are well and thank you for your query regarding the homepage. The changes are certainly possible with a couple of small code changes. However, we’ve just launched Deadline v2 which is fully responsive, WPML compatible and it has a fully widgetised homepage so that you can drag & drop any of the widgets available onto the homepage.

Have a look at our new Deadline v2 Demo site and let us know what you think: http://awe.sm/f0BNw

Please let me know if you have any questions on this.

Cheers

Olaf

P.S. Before upgrading to Deadline v2 we strongly suggest you take a full backup of your files and database so that you can roll-back at any time!

Hello, Is there a chance to go back to the previous page style in v2.0? I want to keep all new features with style from this: http://www.awesem.com/deadline/

Maybe it colud be done only with previous css?

awesem

Hi misirian,

thank you for your query regarding the page style in v2.0. We’ve included the previous version (v1.2.2) as well in the download file and if you like this better then you could consider using this.

Are you looking for any particular features that you would like to be the same like in pre-2.0? The homepage is fully widgetised now which should give you more control of what you want to display.

In regards to the slider, some people already asked us if we could remove the hover effect which shows the text and we are building an option for this into the theme options.

Can you let us know which bits you prefer in the old version and we will see if we can find a solution for you.

Kind regards

Hi Olaf!

This theme looks truly great and so my only problem is which verson of it i should buy. Saw you mentioned that the responsive version had a fully widgetized front page, and i would really love that but then again i can’t have a responsive site. Any way to turn off the responsive functionality and still have a widgetized front page?

awesem

Hi susadl,

thank you for your query and we are pleased to hear that you like our Deadline theme. When you purchase this item then you get access to both versions of Deadline – responsive (v2) and non-responsive (v1.2.2).

Only v2 has the fully widgetised homepage. Is there a particular reason why you don’t require a responsive layout? Maybe there is another way to address your requirements.

Kind regards

Olaf

Thanks for the fast reply!

I am planning to build a wordpress multisite network with buddypress integration that will hold lots of different plug-ins thats not gonna perform well in mobile view. Because of this the plan is to launch a mobilefriendly version of the site where some keyfeatures to the actual website will be dropped.

Any ideas on how i could go around the responsiveness and keep the fully widgetised homepage would be very much appreciated! :)

awesem

Hi Susadl,

Instead of adding a widgetised homepage template to Deadline v1.2.2 it might be easier to make Deadline v2 non-responsive. To do this you need to do the following:

1. Open style.css

2. Remove all media queries, e.g.

/* -- 2.2 768 < x < 959 -- */
@media only screen and (min-width: 768px) and (max-width: 959px) {
        body { min-width: 720px; }
        .container { width: 720px; }
        .grid-1 { width: 40px; }
        .grid-2 { width: 100px; }
        .grid-3 { width: 160px; }
        .grid-4 { width: 220px; }
        .grid-5 { width: 280px; }
        .grid-6 { width: 340px; }
        .grid-7 { width: 400px; }
        .grid-8 { width: 460px; }
        .grid-9 { width: 520px; }
        .grid-10 { width: 580px; }
        .grid-11 { width: 640px; }
        .grid-12 { width: 700px; }
        .container .container { margin-left: -10px; }
        .container .grid-1 .container { width: 60px; }
        .container .grid-2 .container { width: 120px; }
        .container .grid-3 .container { width: 180px; }
        .container .grid-4 .container { width: 240px; }
        .container .grid-5 .container { width: 300px; }
        .container .grid-6 .container { width: 360px; }
        .container .grid-7 .container { width: 420px; }
        .container .grid-8 .container { width: 480px; }
        .container .grid-9 .container { width: 540px; }
        .container .grid-10 .container { width: 600px; }
        .container .grid-11 .container { width: 660px; }
        .container .grid-12 .container { width: 720px; }
    }

3. Open effects.js

4. Replace

    // Main nav
    if($(window).width() > 767) {

        // Desktop
        $('.menu-nav ul').superfish({
            delay: 200,
            animation: {
                opacity: 'show'
            },
            autoArrows: false,
            dropShadows: false,
            speed: 'fast'
        });
        $('.menu-nav ul ul a').hover(function() {
            $(this).stop().animate({ paddingLeft: '20px' }, 'fast');
        }, function() {
            $(this).stop().animate({ paddingLeft: '10px' }, 'fast');
        });

    } else {

        // Mobile
        $('#main-navIcon').click(function(e) {
            var height = $('#main-nav .menu').height();
            if ($(this).hasClass('active') == true) {
                $(this).removeClass('active');
                $('#main-nav .menu').slideUp('fast');
                $('header').animate({'padding-top': 0}, 'fast');

            } else {
                $(this).addClass('active');
                $('#main-nav .menu').slideDown('fast');
                $('header').animate({'padding-top': height}, 'fast')
            }
            e.preventDefault();
        });

    }

with:

    // Main nav

    $('.menu-nav ul').superfish({
    delay: 200,
    animation: {
        opacity: 'show'
    },
    autoArrows: false,
    dropShadows: false,
    speed: 'fast'
    });
    $('.menu-nav ul ul a').hover(function() {
    $(this).stop().animate({ paddingLeft: '20px' }, 'fast');
    }, function() {
    $(this).stop().animate({ paddingLeft: '10px' }, 'fast');
    });

This should be it.

Please let us know how you get on with this.

You’ve got yourself som excellent written code here:) The whole ordeal only took about a couple of minutes, and it worked like a charm:-)

As for the buddypress integration i only needed to change the div class of the buddypress specific files to grid-8 and add the div class=”clear” line inbetween get sidebar and get footer.

How can I change page background? Where is this one option in the theme settings???

awesem

Hi Alur,

thank you for your query regarding the page background.

In Deadline v2, you can change the background in the theme options as outlined in our online theme documentation

In the previous version of Deadline (pre v2) you will have to amend custom.css and add the background manually and there is more information on how to do this in our theme support forum.

Please let me know how you get on with this.

Hmmm…

I don’t know why, but I see “Version 1.2.4” deadline theme info on the theme selection page of my WP. But why not 2.0??? What it means? I had purchased this one theme just yesterday. My WP version – 3.4.1. My installation way was like this: Appearance > Add New Themes > Upload. Then select the zipped deadline folder (deadline.zip) contained within the file I downloaded from ThemeForest.

awesem

Hi Alur,

apologies for any confusion. The download file contains two themes.

(1) deadline.zip file is the non-responsive version of Deadline (v1.2.4)

(2) deadline-responsive.zip is the new, responsive version (v2.0.1)

I will see if we can make this a bit clearer to avoid any further confusion.

Please let me know if you need any further help with this.
