You stated “thanks for your query and interest in our Deadline theme. In the standard version (pre-v2) there is no option to disable it via the admin area but we have instructions on how to remove the extra column.”

Can you show me where those instructions are so that I can remove that column? Thanks.

awesem

Hi,

the instructions to remove the social media column in Deadline v1.x are located in the FAQs here: http://themeforest.net/item/deadline-responsive-premium-wordpress-news-magazine-theme/faq/117203

Please let me know if you experience any problems with this.

Thanks

So I just purchased this theme, and I am having two issues. I would send you a url but Im developing it locally first.

First, the latest post slider is not working. It just appears as a large black box with nothing displayed in it. However, when you click it, it takes you to the post. So, I know the content is there, but I can’t figure out why it isn’t displayed.

Also, I have created three category options on the custom menu. When I click the categories it takes me to a page that should have the post by category, but once again it doesn’t display anything. If i click the blank area it will actually “load” the invisible post. It seems like it might be related to the slider issue also with making all the content invisible.

Please help!

Hi tghoff,

thanks for your query and I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with our theme.

I’ve had a look at your screenshots but it’s difficult to say from that what might be causing the problem. Can you check if you are getting any Javascript errors which might prevent the jQuery from running? You could also try and turn on debugging in the wp-config file to see if that gives you any clues on what might be going wrong.

If this doesn’t help then I suggest you upload your site and send us a link (you could put it into maintenance mode) and we can then have a more detailed look into the problem.

Please let me know how you get on with this.

Thanks

There are two screenshots if that helps at all. Both areas are clickable, but the content is invisible.

Hi tghoff,

thanks for the two screenshots. Please see below for my answer.

Thanks for this great theme!

I can’t get the slider to work on the homepage. Nothing shows up. What are the common mistakes? What could I be doing wrong?

awesem

Hi phildopanic,

thanks for your query and we are pleased to hear that you like our Deadline theme.

The first thing you could do is check that you have a page called homepage and that you’ve assigned the homepage template to it. Next you can check if you’ve assigned this page to be your frontpage. You can find more details about this here in our online documentation under Setting up the blog and the homepage> http://www.awesemthemes.com/theme-documentation/deadline-responsive

Next you need to add either the “Slider blog” (posts tagged sliderblog) or “Slider latest” widget to the homepage full width area. The homepage is fully widgetised and you can edit the widgets under Appearance > Widgets You can find more details about the two widgets in our documentation under “Custom Widgets”.

Please let us know if you are still experiencing problems after following these steps.

Kind regards

Olaf

Hi Olaf,

I ended up deleting and reinstalling the theme, and magically that made everything work. Thank for your quick response though, very greatly appreciated.

Just another issue with this theme. I had trouble getting the custom menus to work. After doing some searching the problem lay in the folder name for the theme after it is unzipped. It was named something like Themeforest-Dealine-Responsive-V-2-2. The name was too long and was making WP throw an error and not save custom menu locations. Once I deactivated the theme, and renamed the folder, I had no problem with the custom menus. I don’t know if anyone else has had this issue, but just a heads up if this problem occurs with someone in the future.

Otherwise, I am VERY PLEASED with the theme. Good work!

awesem

Hi tghoff,

thanks for your feedback and that’s great that everything worked after reinstalling the theme.

In regards to the folder name, it sounds like you’ve uploaded the whole folder included in the zip file from ThemeForest. The folder name should only say “deadline-responsive” and your style sheet should be located here:

/wp-content/themes/deadline-responsive/style.css

I guess in your case it would be as follows:

/wp-content/themes/Themeforest-Dealine-Responsive-V-2-2/deadline-responsive/style.css

This sort of works but I think it might be causing a couple of small issues.

I suggest you move your “deadline-responsive” folder up one level and then delete the “Themeforest-Dealine-Responsive-V-2-2” (make a backup first in case you have other files in there).

Please let me know how you get on with this.

Thanks

Thanks for much for the quick help Olaf. I have only one more issue. I see in the demo that “Home” and other categories stay highlighted in the Navigation when you are at that particular page. However, in my Deadline theme it does not stay highlighted (only when it’s hovered).

How can I make Home and other nav categories remain highlighted in the nav when I am in that page/category?

Hi

I’ve had this theme installed and working perfectly for a year now, and now the front page slider is not working (completely gone) and also the “News in Pictures” slider. I need to rectify this immediately, please help! http://runtrail.co.za/

awesem

Hi DTproom,

thanks for your query and great that our Deadline theme has been working well for you for the past year.

I’ve had a quick look at your site and you appear to have a Javascript error which is preventing the jQuery from running correctly. I suggest you turn off all your plugins and then enable them one by one to see which one is causing the problem.

Please let me know how you get on with this.

Thanks

I am thinking of purchasing your theme – a few questions.

1) Can I set the homepage as a blog with the slider and widgets – and blog style on all archive pages.

2) Will the be future updates to keep compat with browser and wordpress versions.

3) Is this good for a tech magazine?

awesem

Hi GadgetExpert,

thank you for your query and interest in our Deadline theme.

In regards to your questions:

1. The default homepage is full widgetised and you can make use of WordPress’ standard widgets and the widgets that come with our theme. But the widgetised homepage template doesn’t list the blog posts like on the blog page: http://www.awesem.com/deadline-responsive/blog/ – you can of course set the blog page as the homepage but it is missing the slider and other widgets.

You could consider making a couple of small tweaks in a child theme to achieve your requirements by adding the widgetised area to the blog template. We can also help you with this via our customization service over at www.wpcustomize.it

In regards to future updates, we will continue to make these available here via ThemeForest at no extra cost. Simply download the latest version here at ThemeForest and that’s it.

A number of our customers use our Deadline theme for a tech site, e.g. http://www.techenet.com/

Please let me know if you have any further questions about our Deadline theme.

Thanks

Hi Awesem Team,

With your theme, will I be able to embed ads into an article post?

awesem

Hi,

thanks for your query and interest in our Deadline theme.

Our theme includes a couple of ad widgets that you can include in the sidebar, footer and homepage widget areas. If you want to include ads directly within the post content then you should have a look at existing plugins such as ad injection:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ad-injection/

Please let us know if you have any further questions on this.

A few things…...I cant afford to pay for customisation….but I want the nav bar like telegraph.co.uk . Black and white lined appear under the button wh3n you hover. Could you do this if I purchase the theme I am sixteen with autism.

awesem

Hi GadgetExpert,

I hope you are well and thanks for your query regarding the menu customisation. Changing the menu to have the link underlined is pretty straightforward (text-decoration: underline) and we can help you with this. Please contact us via our profile page once you purchased the theme and we can then talk you through this. In regards to your age, that’s great that you are so young and already setting up your own WordPress site :) However, you should also have a look at the ThemeForest privacy policy as there are some restrictions in their terms & conditions: http://themeforest.net/legal/privacy

Please let us know if you have any further questions on this.

Cheers

And I prefer the slider on the responsive version but prefer the non responsive

awesem

Hi Gadgetexpert, this is not a straightforward customisation unfortunately and it would require several changes to the underlying template. If you would like to customise this then please feel free to request a quote for this via our customisation service over at www.wpcustomize.it

It is my mother who runs the account :) so you can do the mebu?

awesem

Sure, we can send you a snippet of CSS code that underlines the text links in the main menu. You then need to add this your custom CSS file and that should be all.

Hi, I very interested in buying this theme, but I wondered if it is possible to have different colors in footer. For instance, I’d like my footer background to be blue (which is not a problem to change), and all my letters (h3,p) to be white. If I change background to blue, then that blue would be very similar to headline (h3.widget-title) blue. And if I put h3.widget-title to be white – then all the widget headlines in the full home width section become white. So, is it possible somehow to separate footer from the rest of the home page. I hope I made myself perfectly unclear. ;-)

All the best, Marko

awesem

Hi Marko,

I hope you are well and thank you for your interest in our Deadline theme. If know a bit of CSS then it shouldn’t take you long to make these changes in the underlying stylesheet. We’ve included a child theme of the theme as well so that you have a manageable means of separating your changes from the theme to make future updates easier.

If you need any help with the customisation then please feel free to request a quote via our customisation over at wpcustomize.it.

Kind regards

Congratulations theme! I want to buy it, but before that you wish to view my current site, http://migre.me/cg0PQ. I want to leave it as simple as possible. I can change the background to a zoomed, for example?

Hi nicolak,

thanks for your query and interest in our Deadline theme. Via our theme options you can upload a background image and also set it as a fixed image as you can see in this screenshot
