Great looking theme. I need to have a larger area for the logo. Is it possible to easily adjust the width and push over the menu items?

WPExplorer

We’ll it really depends how many items you have on your menu. The logo won’t get cropped at all, it will actually expand all the way behind the menu items, since the menu is positioned absolutely. So it just depends on how big a logo you upload and then how many menu items you add.

make sense?

Hi, great theme. Can I use a self-hosted video player for portfolio items, such as MediaElements JS, or do I have to choose from Vimeo, Youtube, etc.?

WPExplorer

Currently the theme only supports videos that are compatible with oEmbed:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds

The option in the post editor is a simple input for the URL of the video.

Hi There, Very elegant Theme! Are you supporting different post types like pictures, galleries and video?

Thanks Tee

WPExplorer

You mean post formats?

On the portfolio section I do have a few different styles, you can see them in the demo. But these have been setup via a meta option – image slider, stacked images, single image, video.

On the blog section, I just went with a simple featured image for each post. No post formats.

Glad you like it ;)

Hi there. I just tried to add custom css in the theme options/styling area. Anything I add there, makes the whole site go solid grey. Please advise. Thank you.

WPExplorer

Make sure you don’t have any errors in your custom css. I just tested the latest version and I see no issues with this field.

If you are confident your code is correct you can open a ticket at WPThemehelp.com so I can take a look.

Hi AJ,

I’m trying to customize the theme so that I can cherry pick the portfolio items that show on the homepage. Currently it just shows them by latest desc but my client prefers to pick from the larger list in order to show off best work and not have it all be interactive or whatever on the homepage.

My approach is to create a new portfolio category – homepage featured work and then I was going to hack the get posts args for the homepage template to specify only showing posts from that category. Unfortunately it’s not going as smoothly as I had hoped so I just reverted to your original code for now.

Can you help? The second problem would be that we’d need to exclude the featured work category from the part that generates the ajax buttons. I thought that would be easy with an exclude category x but I messed that up somehow too so am pausing for now in case you have a quick fix you can share.

Thanks!

-Alice

WPExplorer

On version 1.2 – see theme page for changelog – I added an option in the theme panel to select a specific category for the homepage.

You can select a regular category and it will hide the filterable buttons. Or you can choose a parent category and it will show child categories for the filters.

Along with the homepage option there is a custom-field to use on the portfolio templates to select specific categories.

crap…I just noticed, that ThemeForest never actually updated my theme version. I’m going to re-upload now. You can also contact me via my profile page for the latest version.

Thanks so much. I grabbed the updated version and that solved my first problem. Still wrestling a bit with the second issue.

You can see the site here: http://www.communications-ink.net/

My client wants to pick out work to show on the homepage so I created a featured work category and chose to show that in the homepage options. That worked perfectly.

The second problem is excluding the featured work category from the ajax filter buttons in the portfolio.

I think, if I understand your previous post correctly, I could create two parent categories, say homepage and portfolio, then I could set my original categories (branding, collateral, interactive etc.) to be children of “portfolio” then I set the homepage to show the category “featured work” and the portfolio page to show the category “portfolio”. Then the portfolio would show the child categories as the ajaxed filter buttons and all would be good. The only problem is that I don’t see an option to control what category the portfolio displays. Maybe I’m not thinking it through correctly?

So I was wondering if another approach might be to just exclude the “featured work” category on in the code on portfolio pages where the buttons are generated? I was thinking of trying to use list_terms_exclusions to exclude it.

If you have a more elegant/efficient solution or if I’m missing something please let me know. Thanks again for the amazing support and awesome themes.

WPExplorer

Hi Alice,

For the actual portfolio page you would use a custom field to select your portfolio category (works just like the homepage basically):

http://wpexplorer.me/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/custom-field-for-portfolio-page-template.png

You’ll probably need the WordPress hotfix for custom-fields to work well:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/hotfix/

Make sense? Hope this helps!

Love how you setup the menu ;)

WPExplorer

I just haven’t added the docs for this function yet as it’s very new – I will do so soon ;)

Default-user

Thanks – that worked perfectly. So I have: “homepage featured work” and “portfolio page” as parent categories, then “interactive” “branding” etc. etc. are all children of the “portfolio page” category and the ID of the portfolio page category is in the custom field for the portfolio page itself. The client can pick the work to show on the homepage and the portfolio has the filter buttons for the child categories. Perfect. Thanks for all the help!

I love the theme but I would like to be able to add custom content to the homepage in addition to the default portfolio items. What is the best way to do this?

WPExplorer

Glad you like it ;) Thank you for the purchase!

You’ll probably want to edit your homepage templates – have a look in the templates folder (template-home.php).

Personally i think the best would be to use a look and get content from a specific page in your dashboard. This way you don’t have to manage it via the template file manually.

Hello,

I’d like to post spotify embed codes instead of videos as it’s an iframe too. Is that possible and how. Thanks for your help, it’s really important.

WPExplorer

I don’t think at the moment the WordPress oEmbed system supports Spotify. ;( You can see a list of the sources supported here:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds

If you want to be able to insert full-on embed codes you’ll need to edit the meta option to change it into a textarea – functions/portfolio_meta.png, then edit the portfolio entries and single post files to not use the oEmbed function, but rather echo out the simple meta value.

Hope that helps, AJ

Can you help me do that, I’d greatly appreciate it. Really. Came across this article but didn’t succeed in implementing it. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13039311/making-spotify-embeds-responsive

WPExplorer

This article has nothing to do with the issue…The issue is that WordPress doesn’t support spotify with oEmbed functions, so the theme will need to be modified to allow support. This would probably be a 10-15 minute customization so it isn’t something I can simply walk you through.

I’m assuming you want to use it in the portfolio video styles correct? Because this is what I’ve been thinking you want to do as you didn’t really specify.

Yes, in the video section. I know you’re busy but it would really mean a lot to me as a customer and to other people who might want to post other stuff to their portfolio if you could send me an updated version of the different files. Thanks in advance. amineb {at} me {dot} com. Please, tell me if it’s possible as I’m really needing this for an important presentation due today.

WPExplorer

I see this morning you also have a ticket on wpthemehelp. I will continue support there. I’ll try and walk you through an example of you would make the modification. It’s pretty easy ;)

Hi there,

I’m thinking about getting this theme I just have a few questions

I’d love to get rid of the shadow/border and change the background to white

I would also like to remove ‘blog’, ‘portfolio’ grey bar

and finally I want to remove the gap between the top of the page and the menu/logo nav so it’s flush

Is this easy to do and something you could help with?

Thanks!!

WPExplorer

This are all small CSS changes. I can definitely quote you an estimate for these adjustments as well as our partners over at Tweaky might be able to assist you for cheaper.

I notice in epsilon you have special quote posts, are these in Delta? Is there a way to put them in if I buy both themes (like cut and pasting some code)?

WPExplorer

I think you are talking about the “styling” of the blockquotes…I really don’t mind if you just copy the CSS from the one to the other, no need to buy both ;)

Hey! For the Ajax portfolio, Is there a way it can just sho the full image rather that 1/2 image and the other half an exerpt?

WPExplorer

There are options in the theme panel to set the specific image cropping size for the portfolio height ;) Go to appearance -> theme options -> portfolio and change the value where it says “Portfolio Entry Image Height”.

Pre-sale question/concern…

I see that there was already a question about resizing the logo area but didn’t see that there was a sufficient answer, so I need to know if there is a custom css section in admin to modify logo area or does this need to happen directly in theme style sheet.

Also, you mentioned that home auto-slider option is disabled by default, do you provide detailed instruction on how to change in support documentation with theme purchase? I understand it’s disabled by default to mitigate problems with different size images added to slider, I intend to ensure all slider items are exact same size.

If able to address these two items, this theme is exactly what I need. Thank you.

WPExplorer

I am not really sure what you mean…The header will expand vertically to fit any logo you add, there is no customization required unless you require to change logo margins/paddings/location.

Making the slider auto-rotate is extremely easy. It just takes 1 change in the javascript file. You just open js/slider_init.js and change the slideshow value from “false” to “true”.

Also, I know you cannot speak to 3rd party plugins but do you have any experience with…

http://codecanyon.net/item/usquare-universal-responsive-grid-for-wordpress/3352677?WT.ac=category_thumb&WT.seg_1=category_thumb&WT.z_author=Br0

I want to add a team member page with a plugin that is aesthetically similar to your theme.

WPExplorer

I actually don’t have any experience with that plugin….It’s only $12 though, maybe you’ll want to just purchase and give it a test?

The person to ask is probably the plugin seller.

Hi AJ, I am trying out your Adapt template which i really like, but plan to buy this template for a client. before buying: I want to be able to filter the portfolio by type (commercial, residencial, etc) and by year. The year value will be another taxonomy for the portfolio category. How fisible is this?

WPExplorer

Hum…not sure what you mean by “filter the portfolio by type”. The portfolio post type includes a category taxonomy so you can add multiple categories. If you want to contact me via my profile page maybe i can give you a preview of how the theme works.
