Hello, I am using multiple select list. I jst want to put the name inside the select list itself instead of using the label. Even if we make the selection from the list it should still show the select list name and not the selected item or no of selected item.

Is there a way? Thanks

Regards

Rijz

displayinline

Hello,

There is no option to do this by default – the styled selects act as standard selects.

But as this is not complex to implement, I added this feature to the form styling plugin: download the latest update, and now you can pass an new option to set a static text for the value block:

<select class="select" data-select-options='{"staticValue":"Static text"}'>

It this what you are looking for?

If I purchase this theme with a Regular License and use it as a template for rapid prototyping, do I need to purchase a new license for each new prototype if it’s for the same client?

displayinline

Hi!

I would say yes, as each prototype can be defined as a new “application” of the template (in the licence terms), but you should contact support if you want a more reliable answer ;)

I would like to show text fields (input type=text) arranged as a grid (5 rows, 6 columns). Currently I placed these text fields in a table which does not hide on phone layout. But since no scroll bars that appear when table is shown on a phone, parts of the table are not visible and user can’t get to these text fields to enter inputs.

Is there a better way to do this?

displayinline

Hi,

You may use a responsive grid structure, for instance:

<!-- Repeat for each row -->
<div class="columns">

    <!-- Repeat for each column -->
    <div class="two-columns six-columns-mobile">
        <input type="text" class="input full-width">
    </div>

</div>

With this, each row will break in several lines on narrow screens, preserving the size of the inputs.

Hope this helps! ;)

Default-user

Thanks, the user can get to the input fields when I applied your style.

The grid has headers for each column though and I would have wanted to maintain alignment to the columns for easier readability. I guess showing it like a responsive table may not be good in this scenario.

Is there a way to maintain the grid on a small device but allow user to horizontally scroll through that grid panel? I think this can solve my problem.

Being an admin theme, I’m sure others would want to edit input fields inside a table in the same way.

displayinline

Hi,

You may try to wrap your table in a block with style="overflow:auto", it should enable horizontal scroll on small devices.

Note that some older mobile browsers have limited support for elements scrolling. Using the template custom scroll plugin should help ;)

Tell me if you need more details!

Hi displayinline,

How can I trigger a $(’#myId’).refreshTabs() with a click on an accordion dt ? In other words, is there a way to listen to such an event from within a page using the accordion.js script ?

Thanks in advance !

displayinline

Hi,

Did you try to simply add a listener?

$(document).on('click', '.accordion > dt', function()
{
    $('#myId').refreshTabs();
});

Event delegation will allow this script to work for all accordions in the page, but you can narrow down the selector to one specific accordion or even one DT.

Is this what you are looking for?

Default-user

I tried refreshTabs a couple of weeks ago, but the problem is that before triggering it I need to know when a section of the accordion has been clicked (open). This event is triggered with tabs, why not with the accordion ?

Default-user

Actually, there is a problem with my code. I made a page which contains only an accordion, and it works normally. I mean, the dynamic content is displayed entirely, while in the concerned page it is not (the back container keeps the height of the first section). With $(document).on(‘click’, ’.accordion > dt’, function() things are even worst.

i have to find out what’s going wrong with my code. Thanks anyway ! :)

PS : is there a way to know which section number was just opened ?

displayinline

Ok, hope you’ll find the solution with your code soon!

About detecting the section number, you can do something like this:

$(document).on('click', '.accordion > dt', function()
{
    // Get section index (starts at 0)
    var index = $(this).prevAll('dt').length;
});

Nice ! Thank you ! :)

I saw you teasing version 1.5 and wanted to bring up something before it’s released, just in case it’s a bug that needs to be addressed.

I just noticed that Tooltips seems to be having trouble with mouseover in some browsers. On my own site, as well as your example site, Chrome and Firefox on Windows 8 won’t show the tooltips on mouseover events. They will show ones that require a click.

In IE10 on Win8, as well as all browsers on Mac, they seem fine.

I guess testing in 8 different browsers across 4 different platforms will sometimes uncover some inconsistencies! :)

displayinline

Hi!

It seems you use a computer with a touch screen, isn’t it? If so, this is not a bug: hover tooltips are disabled on touch screens because they break the normal behavior of clickable elements: on first click, the tooltip shows, and the user has to click a second time to trigger the normal action. Most of the time, this mislead inexperienced users into thinking the link/button doesn’t work.

The problem only occurs in some browsers because these (Chrome/Firefox/Safari) are the only ones on Windows 8 to handle touch events – others just ignore them.

If you still want to use hover tooltips on touch devices, edit the file js/developr.tooltip.js, and remove this check:

if (!Modernizr || !Modernizr.touch)

Remove the condition and its braces, not the code inside.

Tell me if you need more details! ;)

ListingWareBob

OK, I get what you’re talking about, but the Win8 machine is not a touchscreen. However, I am using a Logitech Touchpad (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/mice-pointers/touchpads) and wonder if that might be causing the issue. I’ll play around with the configuration and see. Thanks.

displayinline

Interesting, I wonder if it is the touchpad that enables the touch support – please let me know once you find out! :)

Hi displayinline,

Please look at this code:

    if ($("#tab3").closest("li").hasClass("active")) {$("#onglet3").trigger("showtabinit");}

    $("#onglet3").on("showtabinit", function()
    { // ... }

When “onglet3” is open at startup I want its content to be automatically loaded (usually it is loaded when the user click the “onglet3” tab), but the trigger function doesn’t work (if I add an alert after it, the alert is triggered as expected).

Any idea ?

displayinline

Hi,

Listeners should be defined before you trigger the event on an object, so if the actual code is written in the same order as above, it is normal that it is not triggered.

Just move the listener definition above the actual event trigger, and it should work fine ;)

Default-user

Yes, the order makes the difference ! Thanks a lot ! :)

Is there option to play sound when notification appears? :)
If yes maybe could You give me an example how to do this?

There is no option for this actually. But you may try this simple solution, and hook it into the onDisplay callback of the notification plugin.

Hope this helps! ;)

Hello! I’m having some major formatting issues with the wizard plugin.

1) For some reason the wizard isn’t resizing based on the content that’s currently being displayed. Is there any way to fix this?

2) On Chrome, the steps are not displaying properly.

3) In IE9 and lower, the site freezes and doesn’t even show the content.

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. We’re currently on a time-crunch!

Okay. I fixed the styling issue that was effecting Chrome and IE when it came to the steps not displaying properly.

For those interested in the forms.css I changed:

.wizard-steps > li {
        display: inline-table;
        width: 80px;
        }
.wizard-steps > .active {
            width: 80px;
        }
.wizard-steps > li {
            width: 80px;
        }

I still need help with the other issues!

displayinline

Hi,

Can you tell me more about the display issue you had? If you have a screenshot it would be great ;)

This solution looks nice, but the wizard steps are not responsive anymore and the layout is broken on mobile devices.

Do you have the same issue when viewing the demo page?

BMCmarketing

No, I didn’t have the same issue when viewing the demo page, but your Step titles were very short. Mine were longer.

http://nextgen.bmcgroupmaterials.com/proxy.html

There’s the error that I’m talking about. I can give you the username and password to that site if you wouldn’t mind sending a quick email to nabouharb[at]bmcgroup.com!

BMCmarketing

I also have one more step.

displayinline

I just replied to your mail! :)

For anyone wondering, adding the property white-space: nowrap; to the style .wizard-steps > li in forms.css should help. It has been added in a previous update, so new users shouldn’t have the issue.

BMCmarketing

Youdaman.

Okay, I figured out the resizing issue I was having…

Removed this code from the wizard.js:

// Equalize using a div to align buttons at bottom
controlsWrapper.prepend('<div class="wizard-spacer" style="height:'+(maxHeight-fieldset.height())+'px" />');

How can I get the wizard to go back to the top of the page after a user clicks the Next button?

And Still need help with the IE9 failure to load issue!

I know it’s a weekend. Sorry to be such a pester. Whenever you can help – it’d be greatly appreciated!

displayinline

Actually, you can prevent the wizard plugin from equalizing the form steps’ heights by removing the class same-height form the form itself. This way, you won’t need to remove parts of the plugin ;)

BMCmarketing

I tried that and it didn’t work for me for some reason… I’m cool with removing part of the plugin that I would never use. What benefit could there be to keeping that part in there? Forcing all the steps to be the same height? I can always put it back in if I need it! Could my solution cause issues that I’m not aware of?

We really, really love this template. Just gotta get it to do what we need it to!

Thanks for the continued fantastic support, btw!

displayinline

You can safely use the plugin without the part you removed, it is not needed by any other feature ;)

Okay! I fixed the scrolling issue!!! Went through twenty pages of comments to find someone else who asked it first!

For IE9 my guess is that there is a problem when centering the wizard, the resize handler maybe called infinitely causing the browser to freeze. I will also try to investigate more on this.

displayinline

Glad to hear you found the scroll script :)

About the freeze in IE9, I couldn’t replicate the issue, sorry… Did you try to remove the page scripts bit by bit until it doesn’t freeze anymore? This will help you find what part causes the issue.

BMCmarketing

I don’t have IE9 on my machine, so I just instructed our Dev Team (that are running IE9) to produce a screenshot to get back to you about this pronto. Thanks for the quick responses!

Hello displayinline,

1)How can i deselect the single item selected in select list. This is not possible with the present one. 2)can u please provide a link for the add event(js) to the calender. Thnaks Regards, Rijz

displayinline

Hello,

1) Just add the class allow-empty to your select, and you’ll be able to unselect all selected options.

You will find more details in the documentation, in Features reference / Forms / Selects.

2) There is no such function in the template, I once mentioned it to someone to indicate that he had to implement it himself – it depends on how your project is structured, on your server, on the information you use and how you want it to be collected and displayed… For instance, you may open a modal to prompt the user for the information, send data using AJAX, and then refresh the calendar using a JS MVC framework or another AJAX call.

Default-user

Thanks for the quick reply. I have been struggling to get the solution for quite a long time and am beginner in coding. I thought some one could help me out. Am working on using http://arshaw.com/fullcalendar/

Canvas positioning in a modal window

We got a problem when using canvas inside a modal window. The X and Y coordinates seems to be missing, and events “underneeth” the modal window are trigged, such as scrolling, clicks and more… so the touch events (signature) are not captured as expected.

Using tablets with Android and iOs

Do you have a succestion of how to solve this problem, and how to use canvas within a modal window.

We use the canvas for a clients signature – prompted within a modal window with confirmation info.

Regards /BG

displayinline

Hi,

I haven’t been working much with canvas lately, so I have no precise idea of what could cause this issue, sorry. The modal window plugin only handle touch events on the title bar, so it shouldn’t interact with your own code elsewhere.

Do you use an iframe in your modal window? Also, do you have the same issue on a desktop browser? If you can show me a sample of the code you use, maybe I can guide you into debugging this ;)

Hello displayinline :)
I have little weird problem.
When using IFRAME modal on touch devices like iPad etc user is not abble to scroll page inside iframe.
And my question is if that can be solved somehow.
Sorry for often annoying you.

displayinline

Hi,

Iframes are quite difficult to work with on iOS devices: they do not respect the defined dimensions, and scrolling doesn’t work the usual way (it should work when using 2 fingers according to iOS documentation, but it is not always the case).

I already implemented this trick some time ago to help, but it won’t work in every case… If you need to load long content into a modal, the safest method is to load it using an AJAX call – overflowed divs work as expected.

Sorry I can’t help more… If you ever find a solution for this, please let me know, this will be useful! :)

I’m thinking of using this template for a hybrid app (packaged with Cordova and deployed to the app stores) but a requirement is offline capability. Looking at the basic markup, the only non-local resource appears to be the Open Sans Light Google web font (http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans:300). Would it be best to load the woff font (http://themes.googleusercontent.com/static/fonts/opensans/v6/DXI1ORHCpsQm3Vp6mXoaTXhCUOGz7vYGh680lGh-uXM.woff) into my Cache Manifest (requiring users to load the app connected to the Internet at least once) or simply download the open source font directly (http://googlefontdirectory.googlecode.com/hg/apache/opensans/OpenSans-Light.ttf) and convert via Font Squirrel and load in style.css similar to Entypo?

displayinline

Hi!

Both solutions are equivalent, I’d say the download solution is a bit safer as it prevents an (unlikely but possible) network failure from the Google Webfonts service. And the Font Squirrel kits work perfectly ;)

displayinline

Hi!

just to let you know UITS shared their solution to include the webfont locally, just in case ;)

Is there a base version of jquery before which you are not compatible? I am being asked to incorporate Developr and we are using jquery 1.4.4 and cannot upgrade.

displayinline

Hi,

Hard to tell which base version of jQuery is required, but the template was developed using v1.7.2. I guess it is possible to make it backwards compatible, for instance by changing on() and off() methods to the old bind() and unbind() (the functions signatures are the same), and maybe one or two other things. There may be also slight differences in the order some methods return elements, and in the parsing of JSON content.

Aside from these points, I cannot tell you much without spending several hours testing the downgrade. Tell me if you start working on it and have issue, I’ll do my best to help ;)

Default-user

For us this is a fatal answer, not your fault. Our 1.4.4 version has been modified to suit our needs and we need a decision today, also not your fault. I am sure we will be upgrading everything in the future, but incorporating now looks way too expensive from an effort and schedule perspective. See you in about a year. Thanks for the reply.

displayinline

No problem, I understand :) Good luck with your project!

Greetings! I’m needing to display a single SELECT as list but I need NONE of the items in that list to be pre-selected when first displayed to the user. I also need to make sure that when I reset the form/list for the user… that it shows none of the options as selected. I’m not quite sure how to accomplish this. If I don’t put “selected=’selected’” next to any of the options… it ends up automatically selecting the very first item in the list. Is there a way to circumvent that? I tried adding a <option value=”” class=”hidden”>Please select one</option> but that didn’t work… it shows that one at the top of the list and selects it.

Is there a way to make sure the list shows no items as selected when rendered? And then after a user has selected an item in the list… is there a way to reset the list when resetting the form so it shows no options as selected?

I’m needing this functionality because a sub-form is going to be dynamically displayed based on the option chosen in that list… but we don’t want to display a “default” sub-form… we won’y want to display the sub-form based on the option a user selects.

Thanks kindly!

Here is an example of what the code generates:

http://i56.tinypic.com/f24nxf.png

displayinline

Hi!

About the default selected option, this should not happen with the latest version of the form styling plugin. You can download it here, tell me if you still have the issue then.

And to ensure the display is updated when you reset the select, just trigger a changeevent:

$('#select').change();

If you already use the change event for another part of your script, you may also use the update-select-list custom event:

$('#select').trigger('update-select-list');

Tell me if you need more details! ;)

Default-user
brobar Purchased

Thank you much for the update! While that seems to fix the issue with a “Multiple as list” list… it doesn’t appear to fix the issue with a “Single as list” list… note the image below:

http://i54.tinypic.com/rhvk86.png

This appears to give me the same behavior in Chrome, Safari and Firefox.

I’ve devised a somewhat hack-ish workaround for now. I normally have an empty-value “Please select one” option in my normal dropdowns. I went ahead and added that option to this select and then I hide it from the displayed exploded list by giving that select a class of “hideFirstOption” and then throwing in a line of CSS to hide the first span [list item] in the displayed list (see image below).

http://i54.tinypic.com/27zjd08.png

It probably isn’t the best way to tackle it… but until we can figure out a way for none of the options to be selected by default in a “Single as list” scenario… it will have to do.

Thanks again. And let me know if you figure out a way for the “Single as list” to not select any options as default.

Keep up the great work!

displayinline

Hi!

Nice solution ;) I guess I would have done the same. Actually, I don’t think you can have a single select with no selection, it is handled in the internal browser engine so there’s not much we can do…

Thanks for sharing your solution!

Hi,

In message option i could create a modal popup on clicking the new message. But when i submit the form it is showing the sendemail.php page(blank page). Instead i want it to show another popup up saying “Successfully Send” with loader image while waiting to get the reply from .php.

Can u help me. I have mailed you the link.

Please help. :(

Regards, Rijesh

displayinline

Hi!

Here’s how you can do this:

function openModal()
{
    // Open modal
    var modal = $.modal({ ... });

    // Listen for form submit
    modal.find('form').on('submit', function(event)
    {
        // Stop default form submission
        event.preventDefault();

        // Send ajax request
        $.ajax({
            url: this.action,
            type: this.method,
            data: $(this).serialize(),
            success: function(data)
            {
                modal.setModalContent(data);
            },
            error: function()
            {
                modal.setModalContent('An error occurred');
            }
        });

        // Display loading effect
        modal.setModalContent('<div style="height: 200px; line-height: 200px; text-align: center;"><span class="loader big" /></div>');
    });

Note that this requires that your form points to the actual script you want to call in the action attribute, as it uses the attribute to find the url. this also ensures that the form will call the script even if javascript fails at some point.

With this, the modal window will display anything returned by your php script sendmail.php (in the success callback), but you may simply display a default message instead.

Hope this helps! ;)
