Hi thanks for the great theme and continued development!

Q: do you forsee any issues merging the the js and CSS files into one file each? Do you have a merged minified version?

My goal is to reduce the 15 server calls to these files to 2. Currently this is consuming ~60% of my sites load time.

displayinline

Hi, thanks! :)

There should be no issue, you can go ahead – I also mention it in the Optimization section of the doc, as it is a good practice ;)

would this be the correct method when combining the js? or paste together one after the other as is?

;(function($, window, document){var win = $(window), doc = $(document),

then paste in:Accordions.js, agenda.js, auto-resizing.js…..wizard.js and close it with.
})(jQuery, window, document);
displayinline

The second solution would be slightly smaller (though I think the difference would be barely noticeable once minified), but this may lead to some var names collisions, so I would not recommend it.

Simply append each file’s content after the other, and send the result to your favorite minification service ;)

How do you change the splash screen?

displayinline

Hi,

Just replace the files in img/splash with your own versions. You can use the PSD template included in the package (in Psd/Elements), it includes a bunch of example backgrounds to help you get started ;)

Note that if you already added your website to your dashboard on an iOS device, you may need to remove it and add it again to see the changes.

Hi displayline.

I need to dynamically set the items in the following select:

<select class="select multiple-as-single easy-multiple-selection check-list" multiple>
    ...
</select>

I’ve tried various ways to get to the replacement element and triggering the click event, adding and removing class values but ultimately it does not work because the methods being executed on the control does not pick these changes up in your developr.input.js script. How can I select all/ deselect all or select one at a time in my code and not physically clicking each item?

Thanks for the continued support!

displayinline

Hi,

Just give and ID to your select, and run this code to select all options:

var select = $('#select-id');
select.find('option').prop('selected', true);
select.change();

To unselect all, change true to false. And if you want to select a specific value, you can do this:

var select = $('#select-id');
select.find('option[value="some-value"]').prop('selected', true);
select.change();

Hope this helps! ;)

Hi

I’ve noticed a bug which also appears on your demo. Once you click on a select input it never loses focus even when you click elsewhere. This means that if your press the down cursor on your keyboard every select input changes its value!

Great skin by the way.

displayinline

Hi!

Yes, it seems same some browsers have modified the way they handle focus/blur events on non-input elements: the focus event is triggered, but not the blur event, thus the key bindings remain active even when the focus is on another element… I am working on a new version of the plugin, it will be ready soon ;)

Thanks for notifying me anyway!

displayinline

Hi again!

I just finished my rewrite of the input styling plugin, you can download it here.

I tested it on many browsers and platforms, but if you notice any issue please report it to me ;)

Hi,

I’m getting some trouble when saving this to iphone/ipad it keeps saying “could not be opened because too many redirects occurred” when trying to open this as an icon on the iphone/ipad. Works fine on the computer browser version though… Anyone experienced this or have a solution?

displayinline

Hi!

I have never seen this issue before, sorry. This is quite strange as the template does not use any redirect mechanism. Did you implement anything related? For instance, some mod_rewrite instructions in a .htaccess, any kind of server-side redirection…

You may try the solution given here: clear your iOS Safari cache and cookies, and check that it accepts cookies.

Hope this will solve your issue! ;)

Hi displayinline,

I have a problem with the select component (class=select). I open it normaly but I am unable to close it ! I wonder why that happened…

Could you please tell me what’s going wrong with it (or me :)) ? Thanks in advance !

displayinline

Hi,

Can you tell me more on your issue? Do you use a touch or mouse device? Did you make any change to the inputs plugin, or do you use the stock version?

Most importantly, do you have the same issue on the demo website?

Also, if you have an online test page, I could check to see what’s going on ;)

I use both touch and mouse inputs. No, I didn’t make any change to the inputs plugin (I guess you mean developr.input.js), I use the original version.

No, I don’t have the same issue with the online demo.

The website I am building is running on localhost, so I can’t give you an URL. But what I’m going to do is to reset all .js and .css files from the package I bought. And then I’ll replace them one at a time by the ones I modified so far. I’ll probably discover the source of the problem.

I’ll keep you posted. thanks !

Hi displayinline,

Well, I found where the probleme came from. I just displayed my form.css and the original one side by side in Sublime Text 2 (Alt+Shift+2), and compared them line after line. I found something stupid I made some day, I can’t remember why, line 1023 :

.drop-down { /display: none;/ }

Yes, I commented the display: none !!! That was probably a test, but I forgot to decomment this line…

The select list works now perfectly. I bothered you for nothing, I’m really sorry.

displayinline

No problem ;) Glad to hear you found the solution!

Hi displayinline,

Another question :) : the notification close button is too small for a mobile device (too small for a finger). Is it posible to make it bigger ? Thanks !

displayinline

Hi!

Just, that’s quite easy – add this custom style:

.notification .close {
    font-size: 14px;
    line-height: 18px;
    height: 18px;
    min-width: 14px;
    padding: 5px 7px;
    -webkit-border-radius: 15px;
    -moz-border-radius: 15px;
    border-radius: 15px;
}

Hope this helps! ;)

Hi,

Thanks for the great theme!

I am currently having issue with the select control style (class=”select”)when it’s placed in the Jquery UI Modal Dialog. The select control is not selectable, and not rendered properly.

The DOM element doesn’t look correct compare it’s just having the select control without decorated with the additional element such as the select-value and select-arrow spans.

Appreciate your help on this. Thanks!

Cheers, Johnny

displayinline

Hi!

if the select is not styled, this might mean that the automatic setup has not run on it. You can force the styling by calling:

$('#select-id').styleSelect();

Note that when a select is nested inside a jQueryUI element, there may be some CSS inheritance issues. If so, you can use the DOM inspector of your browser to inspect the element and find the properties that need to be redefined.

If you still can’t make it work, can you show me a sample of the code you use, or provide a link to an online demo? This will help me provide a more detailed answer ;)

Hi displayinline,

It still doesn’t work the force styling :(.

It works fine if the select is not used within the jquery modal dialog.

FYI the “data-bind” attribute is the knockout js attribute.

This the dom element I captured:

<label class=”label” for=”manufacturer”>Manufacturer</label> <select name=”manufacturer” class=”select” id=”manufacturer” data-bind=”options: manufacturers, optionsCaption: ‘Please select..’, value: ManufacturerId, optionsText: ‘Name’, optionsValue: ‘Id’”><option value=””>Please select..</option><option value=”1”>Carl Zeiss</option><option value=”2”>FARO</option></select>

Cheers, Johnny

Hi displayinline,

Actually, what would be nice on touch screens is being able to close the notification panel by just touching it (or clicking it with the mouse pointer).

displayinline

Hi,

You can use the onClick callback:

notify('Title', 'Message', {
    onClick: function()
    {
        $(this).parent().fadeAndRemove().trigger('close');
    }
});

The close event is required for some internal processing.

Tell me if you need more details! ;)

I need to have Turkish characters like “???ÇÖ” in h3 classes. It can write these chars but in another font… Can you help me with this please… I really need…

displayinline

Hi,

This mean that the loaded webfont is missing the corresponding characters. You can check here if there are fallbacks characters you can use, or simply pick another font with larger charset range.

Hope this helps! ;)

Hi, The template also includes the cleditor but when entering breaks it saves it as DIVs. Is there a way to change some cleditor settings so it will create Paragraphs instead?

Thanx in advance for your feedback.

displayinline

Hi!

Actually, the DIV is added by the browser, not by CLEditor – you can check this thread for more details.

I guess the easiest option is to do a simple replace on the submitted markup on your server, before saving it.

Tell me if you need more details ;)

Hi, Thanx for your answer. I have read this info too but I didn’t have the problem with f.e. ckeditor which ads a P instead of a DIV when using with the same browsers.

displayinline

CKEditor is fine too ;) You may just drop CLEditor and use CKE instead if you want – you don’t need any extra code, just include the plugin and start using it.

Default-user

I know, but I’d like to know why both editors produce a different output while the ‘official’ explanation is that it’s the browser which decides what happens. So I thought there might be some kind of setting in the editors itself?

displayinline

CKEditor probably does a rewrite of the code generated by the browser, while CLEditor does nothing. I don’t know if there is a setting to change that now, but at the time the thread was opened it was not the case. If I find something I will notify you! ;)

Hi, I think I found problem – when loading login page with full version, there are all of three subpages together (login, lost password and register) in a piece of second (but visible). This is present in Chrome, FireFox and Internet Explorer. Do you know how to solve this problem? Maybe do you plan some fix soon? Thank in advance for help.

displayinline

Hi,

This is not a problem, this is just caused by the slight delay before javascript starts handling the form layout. The whole login page is written to work even if javascript is disabled, it is the script at the end of the page that adds the UI effects. If you see a slight delay, this means some of the assets of the page load slowly.

You may try this to speed things up a little: move the scripts tag to the head section. Your page will be slightly longer to load, but you shouldn’t see the unstyled form then.

Hope this helps! ;)

Hi again, i need your help, when i hide the menu of the right (profile, messages, etc) i need to show a notification counter, like in a bubble or someting, i’ve out the counter in the “menu” button in the mobile version, but, in the desktop version i need something lijke that, any advice?

Thanks!!

displayinline

Hi,

How about using the top title? Something like this:

function incrementCounter()
{
    var title = $('#title-bar h2'),
        counter = title.find('.count'),
        count;

    // If not found, create it
    if (!counter.length)
    {
        title.append('<span class="relative" style="display:inline-block; width: 10px; height: 8px;"><span class="count right">1</span></span>');
    }
    else
    {
        count = parseInt(counter.text()) || 1;
        counter.text(count+1);
    }
}
function resetCounter()
{
    $('#title-bar h2 .relative').remove();
}

Hope this helps ;)

Cool! how can i “activate” the script when the right menu is hidden and viceversa?

displayinline

Just check the body element for the class menu-hidden/:

function incrementCounter()
{
    // Do not show if the menu is open
    if (!$('body').hasClass('menu-hidden')) {
        return;
    }

    ...
}

Then just call the function every time, it won’t do anything if the menu is open. ;)

Query: How to enable search on a select list? We want even though the select list has 10 entries, when the user clicks/selects the select list the search box should appear.

The example html for the select is a below <select name=”selCC” id=”selCC” class=”select expandable-list” style=”width:160px”> <option value=”599”>Netherlands Antilles</option> <option value=”1784”>St. Vincent and the Grenadines</option> <option value=”44”>United Kingdom</option> <option value=”1”>United States</option> .... ...10 entries.. </select>

I have tried using, but no success: OPTION 1: $(”#selCC”).styleSelect.searchField= null; $(”#selCC”).styleSelect.searchIfMoreThan= 10;

OPTION 2: $(”#selCC”).styleSelect({searchField: null, searchIfMoreThan: 10});

displayinline

Hi,

To set a option on an automatically styled element, you should use the data-* attribute:

<select data-select-options='{"searchIfMoreThan":10}' ... >

You will find more information on this in the section Features reference / Plugins basics of the documentation.

Tell me if you need more details!

Hi displayinline,

Great ! Thanks for the .notification .close style ! :)

About this close button, here is something quite amazing : when I minify the developr.notify.js file (with OrangeBits Compiler, in Webmatrix 2), the X is replace by a ? (question mark). Is it a bug in OrangeBits ?

displayinline

Glad I could help ;)

About the missing X, this is most likely a charset issue: the compiler probably use another charset than UTF8, thus the X (which is a special character, not a simple x) is not correctly handled by the browsers.

Check if you can change the output charset to UTF8, or simply replace the X by a upper x – the result is not as clean, but it works ;)

How can i make a div invisible while viewing on a mobile device?

Hi!

If you use the latest version (1.4), you can use one of the special responsive classes you will find in the documentation, in Template basics / Generic elements / Utility classes, under the Responsive classes section.

You were right ! I replaced the orginal X by a simple upper X and minified the notify.js file. It works ! A bit narrower but still nice.

Thanks a lot ! :)

@displayinline,

Sorry, I didn’t notice that your were answering my question.

About this code:

notify('Title', 'Message', {
    onClick: function()
    {
        $(this).parent().fadeAndRemove().trigger('close');
    }
});

Here is what I get:

notify('', msgAide, { system: true, vPos: 'bottom', hPos: 'center', autoClose: false, icon: './img/info.png', showCloseOnHover: false, groupSimilar: false, onClick: function() {$(this).parent().fadeAndRemove().trigger('close');} });

But in this case the close function is not triggered by the panel but by the icon on the left of it (appart the close button) !

displayinline

Hi,

Indeed, it does not work properly when using an icon… The issue comes from the notification plugin itself: you need to change this line (around line 445):

element.children(':first').on('click', settings.onClick);

To this:

element.children().not('.close ').on('click', settings.onClick);

Then everything works fine ;) Tell me if you notice any other issue!

Default-user

Yes, as you said, everything works fine ! Thanks a lot ! :)
