@dkndkn – I can answer for you. They are NOT intending to implement a front-end submission system and no purchaser on their support forum has a satisfactory solution. One user claims to have spent over $600 with a developer and not managed it.
AIT believe that the WP Dashboard is perfectly sufficient for this theme. Those us us with even basic directory experience disagree.
A week has passed since I raised this issue on their Support Forum and they still haven’t responded there; I can only assume it is because they have no intention on completing this theme to be usable as they’ve made enough money from it and are now focusing on other things.
Please join the AIT Support forum and take a look at the comments in the thread, “VERY Disappointed Customer”. It’s had 430 views and 27 comments (none positive) in the last 7 days, and yet no comment from AIT. That says it all.

For managing our website, we use different user roles. Only the administrator has full access to the backend, while an author should be responsible for the management of ‘the items’.
However, if we create a user with ‘author’ capabilities, the items don’t show up in the backend!!!
If we create a user with editor capabilities, it’s only possible to manage categories and locations. Unfortunately, it is not possible to manage the items. As a result, the theme is not usable.
How can one overcome this problem?
First of all this is an awesome theme. I really love the functionality. However, I have two questions about customizing the theme.
1) Does this theme support custom fields. I added a new post type and I’m trying to use custom fields. On the archive page of the post type the custom fields are off set by the post infront of it.
It looks like this:
But should look like this:
2) Is there are way to put the directory search in a sidebar widget area?
Thanks for your message. You can extend item fields pretty easily, please check the following link for more details: http://www.ait-themes.com/doc/how-to-edit-custom-type/?theme=directory-wordpress-theme
Search bar cannot be placed into sidebar by default.
I’m just wondering when is your new template coming out that you published on facebook? It’s been a week since it’s gone through reviewing?
Tour Operator will be available soon. No worries. We were changing our office last few days, but all should be back to standard from Monday onwards
was going to buy this theme but then i saw the bad latest reviews and forum posts and the arrogant answers from ait. It’s very bad from your side, you should always listen to your customers, especially since you’ve made a fortune on this template thanks to them.
Note from a purchaser: I purchased this theme in good faith and when I found it didn’t work as expected I posted a message on AIT’s Support Forum.
AIT didn’t answer my questions and 3 days later I lost patience and posted here – they replied here and were adamant that my concerns would not be addressed. They still haven’t replied to my ‘nice’ initial post on their own forum.
I want to keep this post factual. AIT’s Directory Theme DOES NOT have a front-end interface for business owners to enter their data; they are made to register and then click on an email link to the wp-admin User Profile page. They then have to guess that they must “Add New Item” in order to list their business. Assuming they have made it this far, the business owners can (by default) view ALL the site’s media files AND they are able to select multiple categories for their listings, but of these issues are wholly unsatisfactory.
If you are looking to AIT for a Business Directory that will grow without your input, then this theme, in its current format falls very short. At best, I would rate this theme 1/5.
If you feel you want to add businesses yourself, collecting their info either by a custom form on your site or by any other means then this theme looks great and will do the job very well. Keeping users away from the WP Dashboard negates some of the criticisms and prevents incomplete business listings due to confusion.
AIT have stated in these comments that the WP interface is sufficient and they do not intend to develop a front-end data entry, such as the system employed by AppThemes with their Classifieds and Vantage themes.
Deltaseo, definitely agree with you. I being following this theme since it came out, REALLY YES, since their first sale, I believe you could find me comments in the first pages. As you can see I have not bought it becuase there were certain things that I wanted to have and gave the suggestions but they never did, after noticing that I knew what I was getting myself into and decided to not buy it. For them? they dont care, they already made their names with this theme ($150k in winning so far) and since they already gain that money in a few months only they could care less, they know they can make money now but back to the subject, I would like to talk to you about something similar to this and I can say to all the people that are reading this that you are RIGHT in every way. if you can email me a email@example.com
The theme is fantastic but a small thing make it very limited,
Because some of people registered in my directory websit don’t know how to add item the interface is little hard for people never work with wordpress,
Personally I am located in Qatar small country but I can’t add all item my self .
And this theme without a lot of items is no thing
I also agree with deltaseo and gr0d20!
I think ait did a nice first throw with this theme but it is definately not ready to create a dynamical directory that will sell and let the customers easy submit files…
Guiding the user through wordpress interface (with “confusing” profile page, access to site admin’s media and so on) is simply bad UX and security. I’ve tested if some non-IT people are able to submit an item without my help – they all failed. Did you do tests like this ait?
You made $150k and i bet you’d double your sales if you just chance this. Vantage and Geocraft theme are both built on wordpress and do frontend submission like a charm.
Is it possible to add certain posts on top of the other? Example if they have a “premium package”, that they’re on top of the other results? Also please listen to your customers above and it will be for the best in the long term.
We will be implementing sorting based on package in the next update. Thanks.
Hello, i really think about buy this theme! It looks perfect!
But i have 2 questions. How is it with SEO and URLs? For example: 1) I have city Ostrava with fitness centers and fitnes trainers…
a) I would like to have URL somthing like this: Ostrava/fitness-centers + b) Ostrava/fitness-centers/company-post-title -> Is it possible with this theme?
2) I have diffferent theme now – GeoPlaces – on this site: http://hledamfitko.cz/
This theme has his own company posts structure… Do you think that it is possible to transfer companies from that theme to yours? And how?
Thanks for your message. Sorry you cannot create url structure as you’re saying. We’ve created a CSV to Wordpress import plugin, you can use it to import your database to our theme. Plugin can be downloaded from the following url: http://codecanyon.net/item/csv-to-wordpress-import-plugin/4829224
Is there an option to test run the back end? Also, is it possible to add/modify fields within the WORKING HOURS? And can the sidebar hold a custom widget that would be different for each post? ie. info about places or gallery?
Please check a gallery on the following page, there are images from the admin panel: http://preview.ait-themes.com/directory/wp1/register-form/

Thanks – this is awesome. Any docs on the edition of sidebars in the above question?
Sorry overlooked the last questions. Theme includes 3 different sidebars, you can also use Widget logic or similar plugin to create more.
I recently purchased your theme and love it! Its a really good job and was exactly what I was looking for.
I was wondering whether there is a way to sort the items on the website so that when someone searches for a category with multiple items, it seems to default to sort in the order it was added.
Could I sort them by rating, alphabetically, etc?
Again, Great theme!
Thank for your message, we will be implementing sorting as a next thing. Update will be available soon.
From witch site do I download the latest version of the theme??
You can download the newest version from here. Please navigate to downloads tab.
is there any way to choose display featured listings and add them first on results?
We will be implementing listing sorting, it will be available soon. Thanks.
A few questions:
1. Does this have any notification of an expiring listing to the customer?
2. Recurring billing?
Recuring paypal payments will be implemented soon. Thanks.
This is the WORST theme I have ever paid for. As a developer I have to say that the person or team who developed this theme should seriously reconsider their career choices.
Brutal hooks. The css page was seriously ALL ONE LINE! Who does that?
It has proven to be incompatible with at least two of my favorite plug-ins. And just in-case anyone was wondering about the core widgets that come with the theme they SUCK. I have 13 active plug-ins in my theme right now. That should say something.
Oh and I CAN’T create a child theme or the theme functions will break so I have to modify the theme files directly so you can forget about updating in the future.
Seriously UN-IMPRESSED with the functionality of this PAID theme.
CSS styles are located in style.less.css, style.css is compressed file. You can use child themes, please check the following thread on our support forum: http://support.ait-themes.com/discussion/comment/16822#Comment_16822
hi guys, im close to buying this theme but there is a question left:
1. is it possible to show surrounded listings depending on a visitors current location ( targeted by IP adress / geo location / Gps ) ?
For Instance: im in munich searching for bakerys and instantly want to see listings from munich around me not from the US or other countrys.
Hi Daniel, Please check the following url to test Geolocate feature: http://preview.ait-themes.com/directory/wp1/homepage-with-geolocate/
