Directory Portal Wordpress Theme

goldmangroup, Yup, I have moved on to another them. I thought it was just me, but trying to get some content to work in this this is not that straight forward.

I think if you dont have enough knowledge of wordpress/php/html then there is no way you should pick up a theme from themeforest and use it in your big project.. The author has been kind enough to add features and promise updates on which they are working. Most other authors sell the theme as is and charge you for every big small change you want..

This guys is giving out a theme for $50 with future free updates. This is atleast a third the price of what youll get elsewhere. Cut this guy some slack since whatever youve got for $50 is worth much more than it is and you know that.

Not sure why, but when I do a search, my main menu is replaced with pages links, like here: http://terra-media.us/geo/?s=&categories=23&locations=0&dir-search=yes&post_type=ait-dir-item

I’m looking forward to the updates coming soon to purchase this theme. It’s what I’ve been looking for and it looks very promising!

I do have one huge suggestion while you are making this theme even cooler. Can you create a way to make a custom map? Example I have a image I created for a park or mall, I want to be able to import that image and select the type of icon and place the icon markers where ever I need too.

That would greatly expand the kinds of directories you can create. I’m super excited, good luck!

This theme already does what you described. You can make your own custom map marker, then assign approriate items to that marker and it will show up on the map. As an example, go to my site here and do a search on government: http://terra-media.us/geo/

Mm… is there an upper limit to the amount of items that the map can hold or a point when the page starts to lag because of all the items?

There is not any such limit IN THE THEME but there is a limit because of GOOGLE MAPS.. If you want lower loading times add in less pins, simple as that..

PROBLEM with theme theme is that we need a feature where we can decide the homepage to have a custom zoom level view at the custom coordinates. This way we can by show a particular part of the map with desired pins instead of showing all pins. I hope this is incorporated in the theme because I plan to have over 300 pins in the map.

Mm…interesting… I wonder if it would accommodate items in the thousands? Yes, it would be nice to have more customizable options for the map… hopefully more options do get implemented.

I’m still following this thread awaiting to buy this theme after some feature updates… Is it right that todays update (Version 1.5) still does not include the automated fronted submission form?

A lot of very useful features have been mentioned here to improve this theme.. Frontend submission probably the ONE that everyone is waiting for. But also paid listings (and the differantiation between “paid” and “free” listings, or “standard” and “pro” respectively), gallery functions on listings, ability for businesses to “claim” their listings and SEO improvements, is probably the most important upgrades to make this a truly remarkable theme.

Could you please indicate which of the features mentioned you would plan to implement and and what the time-frame would be on this?

I got a question for updating when I update 1.5 version. Should I import xml file as well? then I already put data in my DB. how i can use it with my old data?

Quick query, apologies if this is obvious, but is there a ‘full width’ page option, so a page without the right side bar?

If I purchase this theme I would like to put an event calendar on there but would prefer it to be full width. I just haven’t seen any full width pages in the demo.

Is there a way to have just the city drop down on the home page and when the person chooses the city it will take them to a map that is centered on that city? What about having drop down options in the revolution slider?

Hi, just a couple (I think very important) suggestions:

1. you should really include rich snippets and microdata for places for SEO. 2. visitors can review the places, but I think it would be better if they can give a choice of 5 stars to the places with the review microdata for best SEO. 3. How about a Google style homepage? maybe just have the logo in the middle top, the map, the search bar below and maybe a little “contact us” link at the bottom?
