My colleague purchased this template and we’re using it at http://news.stanford.edu/features/2013/galapagos/. Unfortunately the site crashes on every iPad we’ve tested it with, both in Safari and Chrome. When I remove the calls to flexslider (both the home page slider and the content sliders we added), the site does not crash. We have a similar site under construction which does not have additional content sliders added – only the home page slider that came with the template. Again, the site out of the box crashes on iPads, but if we comment out the call to initialize the home page slider it does not crash.

This is not an issue with FlexSlider per se, as other sites that use FlexSlider do not crash on the iPad. I therefore believe there is some interaction between FlexSlider and some other JavaScript used in the template that causes iPads to crash. Note that the crashes do not happen in the iOS simulator – only on actual devices.

I will continue to investigate myself, but I would greatly appreciate any support you or your users can offer. We can’t use this template if iPad users can’t use our site.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Note that the error I see on the iPad is “Low Memory”.

And for the record, visiting http://demo.starsthemes.com/html/draco/ crashes Safari on an iPad.

I’m testing using an original iPad running iOS 5.1.1.

FYI, when I removed FlexSlider from the home page and just displayed a single full size image on the home screen the iPad did not crash. When I added a FlexSlider slideshow to the content, the iPad crashed again. When I replaced FlexSlider with Galleria the site crashed the iPad again. So it’s not the FlexSlider plugin per se – it appears to happen when any slideshow plugin is run.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

So i’m trying to remove some sections from the page that I do not need (ex: portfolio and clients sections). But when i remove these, it breaks the layout of the other sections. How can I remove sections without breaking the other ones?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
