looks great~ ive installed the demo content but images are not linked, seems thats how demo content best practices are supposed to be? donno im new..

but the side nav is not the same as in the demo.. i see articles, latest posts etc..

could you point me in the right direction as i did not see nav documentation in the text file? thanks

Hi mlapi69, thanks for getting in touch with us about the demo content.

We have used placeholder images for some of the demo content. We can’t provide the images in the live demo as they are stock photos. We are always looking to improve and so we will be revisiting the placeholder images very soon. We’ll let you know as the next version is out.

As for the sidebar and navigation, there are two sections in the help file that should be of some assistance to you, 04 – Custom Sidebars and 05 – Custom Menus. In a nutshell you need to remove the default WordPress widgets and then use the widgets that are available to add new content. In our demo we have made use of the Text Widget and Text Centered Widget.

As for the menu, you’ll need to create a new WordPress menu and set that as the primary for your site. Then you can begin adding pages to it. I’ve explained in greater detail in the documentation (section 05).

Thanks again for purchasing Eatery. I hope this helps get you started. Let us know if you have any more questions. :)

i like the ‘Eatery’ slab font for the logo image, i not able to figure that out.. what is the name of it..

Hi mlapi69, thanks for purchasing Eatery. The font is ArcherPro Book.

Best regards

very confusing theme to set up I received no documentation on how to set up the menu options apparently there are short codes? where are they explained?

Where is the documentation. It is not in the zip file.

How do I get the food menus to display properly? The food categories do not show up in the admin menu control section. How do I get lunch specials on one page and dinner on another?

Hi SaharaZen, thanks for purchasing Eatery.

We have provided a few items in order to help make setting up much easier for you.

The documentation included with the theme should be found under the folder called ‘documentation’ inside your zip file.

There is also demo content you can import in a folder called ‘Demo Content’. That should get you setup within minutes.

We have tried very hard to include easy to follow instructions on how to do the tasks you have mentioned in your post. Once you see the documentation I’m confident that you will have a much easier time setting up.

Shortcodes are explained in the documentation and they are also included in the WordPress WYSIWYG toolbar.

Food Menu Items are added inside the WordPress admin. They are under the button ‘Food Menu’. Adding a Food Menus to the navigation is explained in the documentation. Displaying food menus on different pages is done through the [foodmenu] shortcode. It is also explained in the documenation.

I hope that helps. If you have anymore questions please let us know. We are here to make your experience a great one.

For a quick reply feel free to contact us directly through our Profile Contact form here: http://themeforest.net/user/Themovation

At some point in the near future we will be adding ‘how to’ videos on youtube so everyone can watch real life examples.

Best regards!

Thank you. Found the docs.; Looks very thorough and complete.

Great theme!

Thanks SaharaZen. We are very pleased everything worked out.

Need help. Been trying to figure out how to insert a Comment box on my food items pages. I have read your doc and found nothing. I have searched high and low in the theme and cannot figure it out.

Also, is there a way to disable the title link on a first-level food page that goes to the second level. Some items, like “coffee,” don’t need too much explaining.

Hi forrestcouch,

Please log in to the account used to purchase the theme, and then send a message through our author profile page. We can only provide support after we confirm that a user has purchased the theme. Thanks.

I am a purchaser of your theme.

Hi SaharaZen,

Commenting on food menu items wasn’t a feature we planned to include for the theme, but it is pretty simple to add. Just open the file “single-food.php” and find this line near the bottom:

<?php endwhile; ?>

Replace it with:

<?php comments_template( ’’, true ); ?> <?php endwhile; ?>

In regard to removing the menu item links on an individual basis, that is a feature we are going to be adding to one of the next releases, within the next week or so. In the meantime, if you would like to remove the links site-wide, then just send an email through our author profile page and we can send you a revised file. Cheers.

Hi – can the header height be easily changed?

Hi adput,

It is possible to change the height, but it was not an intended feature so it’s not an option in the admin area. If you purchase the theme and you’re comfortable with some light editing of CSS and PHP, then just send us an email through our author profile page, and we can let you know what to change. Cheers.

Hi i was wondering something about the theme. We want to create a Products page which will have sub-pages like Products => Clothes – Accessories – Shoes . In these sub-pages Shoes category will have like 90 products with images and information. Is this possible with this theme? And also can we make a two language website like with a button?

Thank you!

Hi zeynepbasar, yes I believe it will work for all that you are doing. The sub pages should work because the Eatery navigation supports 4 levels of links, so parent > child1 > child2 > child3.

For your products, are you using a shopping cart plugin? If not, our food menu supports unlimited items but doesn’t have built-in eCommerce.

For language, we’ve had a client successfully install and use the qTranslate plugin. Yes, it supports multiple languages.

l hope that answers all your questions. Let us know if we can be of assistance.

Best regards!

I’m having an issue with the logo image size. No matter what size I make it, it always stays the same. I’ve update to the latest version of your theme and I’m using WP 3.5.

If it helps, I’m getting these error messages on the Layout tab in the Theme Options:

Warning: getimagesize() [function.getimagesize]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in /homepages/24/d421604171/htdocs/wp-content/themes/eatery/framework/admin/options/layout.php on line 212

Hi kevintomasic, we would like to help you with this. Thank you for purchasing Eatery.

Are you hosted with 1and1.com? I think they have some settings that conflict with the file upload.

We would like to help you right away, so if possible can you send us a private message and we’ll make sure to work with you to resolve as soon as possible. In the meantime I found a link to others having similar issues with 1and1.com. If you are comfortable please have a read.

Scan down to Bekah’s response. She seems to have found an easy way to fix. We’ll be releasing an update this week that contains a fix for this 1and1.com issue.

Best regards

In this shortcode: [toggle title=”Click to Expand” color=”white”] Sample content goes in here. [/toggle] what does the color value “white” control? I have played with this value and can see no changes. I am using the Breakfast color scheme, so I would like to see the same color applied to the toggles.

I found your color options in the docs, but none of them seem to work..

Also, is there any way to insert an image into the toggle, preferably before the title? And specify the size?

Thank you

Hi SaharaZen,

Sorry, that’s a typo. That feature didn’t make it into the theme. We will update the documentation to reflect that.

You can however quite easily change the color of the toggle bars just by putting a line of CSS into the Custom CSS box:

h3.toggle-gray {background-color:#e99932;}

That would match it to the sidebar of the Breakfast skin. The toggles use an h3 for the title, so you can’t really have an image there. You can however use images inside the toggle shortcode, and even other shortcodes as well.

Hope that’s helpful!

Why my menu don’t show the full menu items ? I have 19 items in a Group Menu but the website shows only 10 items … thanks

Hi Natifs,

Thank you for purchasing Eatery. Please send an email to us through our author profile page and we will send you a hotfix to correct that issue. It will also be fixed in the next release which we will be submitting today. Cheers!

Hello I send you two email and I did not get answers…

I’m sorry about that; we didn’t receive any messages from you. The issue has since been fixed though, so you can download the latest version of the theme here: http://bit.ly/SpHexy

how can i add sub menu on the menu like this:

Hi band0ler0, I’m not sure I understand your question but I’ll try to answer. You can add up to 3 levels of sub menus for the navigation. I hope that helps.

Themovation, i want something like this one:

when you go to the menu you will get a sub menu…

You can add sub menus using the WordPress Menu System inside WordPress admin. First you add a new page to your menu, then you can drag and drop it under any menu item. Here is a link that walks you through the WordPress Menu System.

Am getting this error:

“There was an error saving your new header image. Please check permissions.”

I have followed the instructions and have adjusted the permissions for the correct folder.

Is there a host specific issue?

Hi keriev, did you download and install version 1.1? There was a host specific issue that was fixed in 1.1 Perhaps this is something new. Can you please email us through our profile page and include any error messages that are coming up? If you like we can also take a close look at your host and settings – perhaps exchange information via our email form on our profile page.

Thank you for purchasing Eatery. We’ll help you resolve this issue quickly.

I tried to change the header image size, but create_header_image.php is a little difficult for me to edit. I think I can change the header image directly with css, yet I want to use your useful create_header_image.php.

The code below is to be edited to change header image size, right? Now the image height is 340px. If make the height 600px, how do I edit the code.

/* Resize Section */

        if (is_null($size) === true) {
            $size = array($width, $height);

        else {
            $size = array_filter(explode('x', $size));

            if (empty($size) === true) {
                    $size = array(imagesx($image), imagesy($image));
            } else {
                if ((empty($size[0]) === true) || (is_numeric($size[0]) === false)) {
                        $size[0] = round($size[1] * $width / $height);
                } else if ((empty($size[1]) === true) || (is_numeric($size[1]) === false)) {
                        $size[1] = round($size[0] * $height / $width);

Thanks for your nice theme!

I tried to contact Ryan at the email provided (help@themovation.com) but that turns out to be a dead email address. So here is what I need…

Hi Ryan, Great theme, thanks for your work. I have a Greek restaurant that I am using the Eatery theme for and they obviously use Lithos for their font on all menus and signage.

Is there a way for me to add Lithos to the theme?

Hi Scott! I had a look on Google Fonts but they do not provide the Lithos font so our custom Google Font setting in the theme options won’t help. Is there a web font kit you were going to use to display the Lithos Font? If so let us know and we can help you with the CSS.

Thanks for letting us know about the help@ email. We’ll get that working right away.

alpinevp Purchased

Thanks Ryan, In order for me to use Lithos, I had to go with Adobe’s typekit.net as they own the font. They gave me two ways to embed the code…

<script type=”text/javascript” src=”//use.typekit.net/vbn0ezr.js”></script> <script type=”text/javascript”>try{Typekit.load();}catch(e){}</script>

<script type=”text/javascript”> (function() { var config = { kitId: ‘vbn0ezr’, scriptTimeout: 3000 }; var h=document.getElementsByTagName(“html”)[0];h.className+=” wf-loading”;var t=setTimeout(function(){h.className=h.className.replace(/(\s|^)wf-loading(\s|$)/g,” “);h.className+=” wf-inactive”},config.scriptTimeout);var tk=document.createElement(“script”),d=false;tk.src=’//use.typekit.net/’config.kitId’.js’;tk.type=”text/javascript”;tk.async=”true”;tk.onload=tk.onreadystatechange=function(){var a=this.readyState;if(d||a&&a =”loaded”)return;d=true;clearTimeout(t);try{Typekit.load(config)}catch(b){}};var s=document.getElementsByTagName(“script”)[0];s.parentNode.insertBefore(tk,s) })(); </script>

Please let me know what I need to do in order to add this font to the theme.

On another note, any way to reduce the full size images in the header stitch from 510px wide at the max to maybe 350px? It makes little sense to load 8 images when on a standard screen, most people will only have the browser width open to around 1200-1600. At 1200 wide, you can only see 4 images and I would like to see 6 to 8 images if possible in that same width.

Hi alpinevp, contact us via our contact form on our profile page and we’ll send details on how to change this. I also noticed a duplicate post from you so I flagged it for removal.

This is so frustrating! I added the Captain typekit plugin and I can see my typekit font, but after 2 hours, I still can’t figure out how to add it to this theme so I can use the various Lithos fonts styles for h tags and body font. AAARRRGGGHHHHHHH!!!

Hi alpinevp, can you send us an email through our contact form on our profile page and then we can exchange details to help you customize the header font.

I took at quick look at your source code and I can see that you have a custom Google Font specified under theme options that does not exist.

Try clearing that out under theme options / typography and see if that helps. <link href=’http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lithos' rel=’stylesheet’ type=’text/css’>

We also have some help for you with regards to the header image size but I’ll send that to you via email.

Hi alpinevp, I just found your email and sent you a direct message.

To alpinevp and to anyone else who is wondering how to use TypeKit with Eatery. I have provided a step-by-step. :)

We don’t recommend TypeKit as Eatery uses Google Fonts but just in case you are wondering, YES, TypeKit works with Eatery. You do not need to install any plugins to make TypeKit work.

1. Signed up for a free trial account with typekit + signed in. 2. Selected a font that I wanted to use. 3. Next I clicked ‘Launch Kit Editor’ in the top right, then ‘kit settings’, and added the domain where Eatery was installed into the domain field. “save settings” 4. Added the following selectors to the selectors field and clicked ‘add’: #sidebar-menu li a, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5 5. You’ll need to add additional selectors where you want to apply the typekit font to via ‘view source’ but the above selectors will get you started with all the major headings and the top side navigation. 6. Clicked ‘Publish’. 7. Clicked ‘Embed Code’ and I copied and pasted the code typekit gave me just above the header.php file above the open <head> tag. Save header.php ( I tested both option 1 and 2 with success ). 7. Refresh your website.
