The Shopp theme displays perfectly unlike the WP ecommerce plugin which just has too many broken layout issues with the Echo theme. Therefore i’d like to stick with Shopp plugin as it looks a lot better.

The one issue with Shopp is the Broken Category links (as mentioned before – the shop categories, when clicked, lead to a page that says ‘View project”), which cannot be fixed by modifying the CSS . Can u offer any assistance or direction as to how to resolve this issue or where in the code i can tell a developer to modify to fix these issues?

Hey there,

unfortunately, I don’t have any working experience with that plugin, so I can’t tell for certain, but I’m pretty sure the file that causes this is called taxonomy.php, which is in charge of the categories (custom taxonomies), so I suggest you tell your developer that.

By the way, I would appreciate it very much if you could reply to your own threads. It makes it easier for me, and for other people out here, to keep track of the comments. You can reply to your own thread by clicking the reply button, found in the thread’s first comment. Thanks! :)

I downloaded the ZIP file and tried to upload to Wordpress via their “Install Themes” button. It said, “The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css sheet.” So I looked and the style.css is in the echo.zip file. So unzipped that internal file and that added all the files via FTP to /wp-content/themes. Then it allowed me to activate the theme. But it looks all janky both front-end and back-end. AKA just black and blue unformatted text; no background etc on front end. Back end, the “upload image” buttons do not function and none of the image files are loading (aka broken image icon). What is going on? Can you help?

onioneye

I see you managed to install the theme properly. Congrats! :)

By the way, please read the instructions found in the theme’s documentation, if you have any difficulties in setting up the theme.

Nevermind I fixed it. I just dragged the echo.zip file to my desktop and then uploaded that and it worked just fine. I was installing the original download zip the first time.

Hi,

Maybe a simple problem but I’m having an issue with my individual portfolio item pages. I can get the featured items to show up but if I add any more images, all the links are broken. (2nd portfolio image, 3rd portfolio image etc) I checked permissions with my host and seems all good.

Any idea?

Thank you!

onioneye

Hey there,

no worries. The latest update was (accidentally) messed up in this regard. A fix is coming today.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. :)

Stay tuned,

Hi there,

I’m back. I just finished fixing the issue and providing an update to the theme, but it will probably take up to 8 hours for the ThemeForest’s staff to review the update, before making it available, so be sure to wait at least a few hours prior to downloading the theme again.

By the way, you will the details of the update in the changelog.txt file.

Edit: please feel free to download the update. It has just been made available.

i have fully read the documentation now and have come across a few questions. I’ll start with the most important: can I link the images in my portfolio? AKA can the images on a portfolio page be linkable to a URL . I dont see why they wouldnt be able to but I cant get it to work. THanks!

onioneye

Hey there,

unfortunately, this is not available out of the box, so some development work would be required of you, if you wanted to make this. This is most definitely a task for a developer.

Probably a simple question. How can I download and instal the latest update?

Kind regards,

Summertime

onioneye

Hey there,

just go to your Downloads page, and download the theme again. Once you do that, you will find the changelog.txt file in the theme’s root directory (echo.zip), that contains the details of the update. After checking it out, just replace the file that was modified, with the new version, via FTP .

Hi again,

Thank you for the update, the links are working now.

I’m having one other little problem, in the theme options I have the home page latest portfolio link set to go to the Portfolio page, but it keeps going to an empty blog post page. I looked around here and there in the code but it might be beyond me.

Any idea why that might not be working. I tried to change the code to link directly without php, but that just broke it all together! :)

Thank you so much!!

onioneye

Hi there,

you are very much welcome. Glad the links are working for you now, after the update. :)

As far as your issue goes, I see in your latest comment that you got it solved, so congrats! :)

No matter what i try the theme will not install.. the file gets stuck on the install theme page in wordpress. Any thoughts? I am using the echo.zip file that came with the download. Thanks!

onioneye

Hi there,

it must be a problem on your end. Please try the FTP method by unzipping the folder, and putting it into the /wp-content/themes/ directory on your server. After you’re done with that, just activate the theme under the Appearance -> Themes tab of your WordPress admin panel, and you should be fine.

By the way, thanks for buying my themes! Appreciate it very much! :)

After installing via FTP I have now began to use the theme options settings. Both the logo and the favicon upload options are hanging on upload. I dont believe this is an issue on my side as all other themes run correctly (i have over a dozen running)

any help would be appreciated , maybe the newest download has an issue? try a clean install as thats what I did.. you may find the same issue

either way I love the themes and hope to get echo working correctly soon

Hi there,

glad you managed to install the theme. :)

As far as the issue with the Theme Options panel goes, I just tested it, and everything works fine on my end. Which browser are you using to upload the images? Please try a different one, just to see if that works.

P.S. I see that you are probably using Safari, from your comment on my HyperMind theme. I tested the options in that browser, including the rest of the popular browsers, and they work just fine, so I’m confused as to why they are not working for you.

Hello,

this theme is acting Extremely buggy, main issue: when zooming in on images it goes crazy, does not show the 5 featured images but instead shows one then flashes non-stop, jumps around, and wont close. The other thing is that when setting a link for portfolio on homepage it still recognizes deleted pages and shows new ones with same title with a “-2” appended. it also does not want to link to those pages correctly and loops back to homepage.

I have not installed ANY plugs nor even touched the editor yet. the database for wordpress was set up by godaddy and have never experienced problems w/ them on any of my sites under their hosting. I been working on the sites for only an hour and all these issues already.

Could you please look at this. I can send you the login info or a link privately. let me know how to proceed ‘as soon’ as you can or if you think this is something simple, let me know as well. Very buggy; very distressing.

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme. Appreciate it very much! :)

There is nothing wrong with the PrettyPhoto jQuery plugin not showing all the images of a portfolio item because it doesn’t work that way. It only shows the item’s preview images. Now, as far as flickering and the broken “close” functionality go, that is definitely not normal, and shouldn’t be happening. The same goes for the link to the portfolio page.

I would like to get a link to your site, so I can check this out. Also, I would appreciate it if you could tell me which browser and which version of it are you running.

P.S. you can send me these details via the contact form on my profile page. By the way, please don’t forget to state your problem in the mail as well, so I can know it’s you.

Hi there,

You’ll be happy to hear that the issue with PrettyPhoto is not a bug. It’s just that you are changing the lightbox/PrettyPhoto settings in the Theme Options panel. In other words, it looks like you enabled the PrettyPhoto’s slideshow, while leaving the slideshow speed at only 200 milliseconds, which makes the lightbox open new slides at an incredibly fast rate, making it look like it’s blinking. Please increase the slideshow speed to at least one or two seconds, and you should be fine. :)

By the way, feel free to play with the options, until you make the lightbox just the way you want it to be.

Also, the mouseover area of the logo is covering over half the header. Its not the image size, its small, but acts as if the logo “is” extended across the majority of the header. Please let me know what’s going on here. i just downloaded this theme a few weeks ago. Did I download an older version? Is there an update? This is all very obscure.

I love the theme however and would like to make it usable before my deadlines make that impossible Let me know

that did it…Im very happy anc an move on to more advanced thins…thanks!!!

A couple other things:

1. when using ios devices and you tap items in the main nav bar to present drop down items it activates the link and does not allow me time to select from the menu…suggestions?

2. I have altered your .png files (border-after.png, border-before.png) to change stars into another image but I cannot find the star image that wraps the post dates on home page to match…where is this file? or is it a wing ding from a font? suggestions?

3. no support for multiple portfolios?

4. on pages with only a small paragraph or two, the footer does rise up to the bottom of the txt so there is a huge blank space between the bottom of the copy and the footer when the browser is stretched long. not until you resize the browser does the footer move up to touch the bottom of the page copy. i understand why but can I alter this?

5. is there an easier way to use fancy type w/ out using compress.rb / blueprint / a settings.yml file and installing git?

6. is there a button short code to simulate the button style for the theme as in the “post comment” or “send message button” with custom names like this:

[button url=”http://domain” target=”_blank” label=”button name” ptag=true]

7. this is a lot of questions but i thought I would get them out of the way in one shot…

thanks so much!

c

Hi there,

glad you’re happy! :)

To answer your questions:

1) The theme isn’t optimized for mobile devices. In other words, it isn’t responsive and “tap” events weren’t taken into perspective.

2) The stars are actually HTML character entities, placed in the landing-page-template.php file.

3) Unfortunately, no. This would be incredibly hard to achieve, as there is no way of telling in advance how much portfolios a client would need, and it is practically impossible to make them dynamically. That’s why this is left for customization work.

4) This is kinda hard to achieve as well. Please look into the “sticky footer” technique.

5) I have no experience whatsoever with what you are talking about, so I really can’t tell.

6) The theme doesn’t come with button shortcodes, but I’m sure there are a bunch of plugins available for those. Please look them up.

By the way, I prefer using shortcodes via plugins, than using the ones built into the theme because the built-in break, when you switch themes.

I hope this helps! :)

as for #5…all i am trying to do is use the fancy type plugin css…how do i do this?

as for #1…how have you coded your menu’s, I thought if CSS then I could use custom css:

ios ul { display: none; }

ios li:hover ul { display: block; }

but no good…is it suckerfish or js or ?...I really need to make the menus ios friendly or this theme may not be the best solution for me…

is there an option to enable sticky footers because does not seem to be working: there is a huge space between the bottom of the content on each page and the footer

c

onioneye

Hi there,

5) You have an option for inserting custom CSS , found in the Theme Options panel, so you can use that.

1) Plain CSS . You can find the styles for the menu under the “Header” section of the style.css file.

4) For a minute there, I actually forgot that I made a serious effort to implement this in the theme the best way possible, and that it worked perfectly in all modern browsers, including (good) old IE.

Here’s a screenshot depicting that: http://www.diigo.com/item/image/1mr8l/g7ah

Edit: I reread your last comment, and realized that the sticky footers actually work on your part. They should work exactly like that, so that the footer is always on the bottom of the screen, no matter what the height of your monitor is.

Sincerely,

OnionEye

Default-user
ccorey11 Purchased

thanks!!!

as for sticky footers…I thought it automatically pushed/pulled the footer up flush with the bottom of the page content w/out leaving a huge empty space vs. always staying at the bottom of the screen…wouldn’t it be more beneficial for the footer to move up so there is no blank space between content and footer; thats more aesthetically pleasing to me personally…

onioneye

Well, it’s all based on perspective and personal preferences. If you like something more “your way,” you can always modify the theme. :)

Oh, and by the way, you are very much welcome. :)

Hey!

I was wondering if your new taxonomy file update fixes the incompatibility issue w/ shopp? In shopp (e-commerce wordpress plug) does not link correctly when searching by category as mentioned by someone else previously in this forum. Since the issue is in the taxonomy categories that you fixed for your theme, will this bug fix/update fix the category issue w/ the plug as well?

If you have any idea / comment / suggestion on that I would greatly appreciate it…thanks!!!

c

onioneye

Hi there,

minor fixes, like the latest one, are almost always related to the in-build code, rather than the third-party code, so I can tell if that fixed the issue with the shopp plugin’s categories. Also, please understand that the job of us authors is to ensure that the theme’s code is written in a way that minimizes the chances of conflicts with third party code (that of plugins), but we can’t guarantee 100% compatibility with each and every plugin out there because there are literally tens of thousands of them. Testing the theme against every plugin would be next to impossible unfortunately. On top of that, I don’t have any working experience with the shopp plugin, so I can’t tell what’s wrong.

Sincerely,

Please have in mind that using a plugin of this complexity will very often require modifying the code, to make the plugin blend in with the theme, not only by design, but by functionality as well.

I purchased this theme under the impression that I would receive a layered psd of the home page and a sub page. Those files were not included in the zip I downloaded. The only psd files I found were of some icons and buttons. How do I get the the home page and sub page layered psd files?

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it! :)

I’m going to have to go ahead and disappoint you, by telling you that there is no psd file for the layout of the site. The main reason why the mockup isn’t included is that the theme is so minimalistic, that only its icons, and the background patterns were needed to be made in photoshop, as everything else related to design is so plain simple, that making a whole mockup would be a waste of time and resources. The other reason is that I don’t do my website design mockups anymore in photoshop, even though I consider myself proficient in that piece of software.

With the advancements of web technologies such as CSS3 and HTML5 , I’m able to skip photoshop and work on a prototype straight in the browser, thus saving large amounts of time and resources in developing a website. So you see, CSS3 and HTML5 enable me to do everything what photoshop can, when it comes to these sites that don’t require heavy, or should I say complex graphics. Those are the reasons I made and included only the layered PSD files for the icons.

I hope you understand.

Once again, I’m honestly sorry about this. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if I can assist you with anything else.

Sincerely,

OnionEye

Hi there,

You have themes on ThemeForest, that are exclusively developed for BuddyPress, so I suggest you look them up, if you want support for this kind of plugin out of the box.

Hey!

I do have an e-commerce plug working well with your theme (wo0commerce). However, I need to add support for Post Thumbnails to enable the “Featured Image” metabox not as much for the Edit Post and Edit Page screens but for my edit individual products pages. I figured the code below would do it by adding it to ‘theme_functions.php’:

/*-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------*/ /* Add featured image */ /*-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------*/ if ( function_exists( 'add_theme_support' ) ) { add_theme_support( 'post-thumbnails' ); } /*-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------*/

However it does not seem to do it….could you please help me out here??

thanks, Onion Eye!

c

onioneye

Hi there,

glad the plugin works for you. :)

As far as the thumbnails go, try removing the following code from the functions.php file:

add_theme_support( 'post-thumbnails', array( 'post', 'my_portfolio', 'my_slider' ) );

and replacing it with the code you wrote above. That should do it. :)

Best of luck,
