Hey!!
I was wondering if you could tell me how to make the social icons below the footer (except facebook) show up but not link to anything upon mouse click…essentially remove that action temporarily? i dont see the php file with that code in it…
let me know,
thanks!
Hi there,
you need to modify the “of_social_networks” function, found in the theme-functions.php file.
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Hi! First of all, congratulations on your great theme!
I’m really stuck with the headings’ padding and margins, I can’t seem to find what to modify on the css! My website is here: http://shop.isecrets.se
Look at the three columns on the bottom, you can see that the spaces when I use any h# go very large and I would like to have the content text and the headers closer.
Please help.
David
Hi there,
thanks for congratulating me on the theme and for buying it! Glad you find it great!
As far as the spacing goes, the following custom CSS code will work for you:
.content-bottom h6 { margin-bottom: 5px; }You can include the code at the bottom of the style.css file, or via some plugin, made for the purpose of embedding custom CSS to the theme.
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Hi Onioneye
I am unable to edit/move the widgets in this theme. When I select the drop down arrow no editable area appears in the widget box, it is just a blank box.
Can you help at all?
Thanks Jessica
Hi Jessica,
this has absolutely nothing to do with the theme, but rather with your WordPress. Please try disabling all of your plugins temporarily, to see if anyone of them is the cause of this. Also, try googling your issue. Chances are, someone else experienced the same problem, and managed to solve it.
By the way, thanks for buying the theme. Appreciate it!
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Hi Onioneye, Another nice looking template
I wanted to make a e-commerce site, this template looks great, Just wanted to confirm, will it possible to use and add if necessary ,the shopping cart etc?
and how many images I can add on when click on to it ,goes to the next page? Thanks , looking forward to buy it
Hi there,
nice to hear from you again. Thanks for the compliment about the theme, and for taking an interest in it!
To answer your questions:
1) Echo is primarily a portfolio WordPress theme, but I’ve seen a few people who used it as an e-commerce site. However, you should be aware that using an e-commerce plugin with the theme will probably require modifying the code, to make it blend in with the theme, not only by design, but by functionality as well.
By the way, please bear in mind that the job of us authors is to ensure that the theme’s code is written in a way that minimizes the chances of conflicts with third party code (that of plugins), but we can’t guarantee 100% compatibility with each and every plugin out there because there are literally tens of thousands of them. Testing the theme against every plugin would be next to impossible unfortunately.
2) You can add up to five images inside a portfolio item, via the standard “include methods”. However, if you merge your images in an image editing software like Photoshop, to add them one below the other, you can add unlimited number of images to a single portfolio item.
I hope this helps. Have lots of fun working with Echo, if you end up buying it!
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Never mind. I could edit at style.css
.slides-container { background: #000; padding: 1px; border: 0px solid #000000; position: relative; }
How can I eliminate the white outline around slider? I think you have been asked same question before. Please send the link you already answer if you have.
Slider with white boarder around http://saltandbutterkorea.com/ Slider without boarder around http://shop.isecrets.se/It’s really nice template and easy to adjust all. I think this is only part I could not figure it out by myself
Hi there,
glad you find the theme nice and easy to adjust. Once again, thanks for buying it!
As far as your question goes, I see that you managed to remove the white outline because I don’t see it around your slider, or am I missing something here?
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Hi! I’ve just downloaded and started up this theme on my Wordpress. I have two questions. 1. I had a portfolio on this blog previously. Can use the posts that are already there or do I need to move them all to the portfolio section ?
2. I’m having trouble with the thumbnails on this theme. They just show up as broken links. I’ve read through the comments section searching for the answer, but can’t seem to find it.
Thanks so much
Hi there,
thanks for buying the theme. Appreciate it!
To answer your questions:
1) You can leave the blog posts as they are, but you need to move the portfolio posts to the portfolio tab of your WordPress admin panel.
2) Please check out the “Image Resizing and File Permissions” section of the docs, and follow the directions there, to solve this problem.
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Hi Onioneye,
Thanks for your theme ! I have one question : When I upload my portfolio, all my images are in all my menu pages : I would like to select a certain portfolio in a certain page. Can you help me please ?
Thanks so much, Kelly
Hi Kelly,
you are very much welcome. Thanks for buying the theme!
As far as your question goes, I’m not sure I completely understood it, so I would appreciate it if you could elaborate it a bit more. Are you trying to put a link to a specific portfolio item in your menu, or is it something else you are trying to do?
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Hi Onioneye,
Ok basically my issue is that I got all the same portfolios in my category pages.
So for instance if you click on “Edition” in the top menu (http://book.bouclettecaramel.com/wordpress/edition/) you will find the same portfolios than in “Publicité (http://book.bouclettecaramel.com/wordpress/publicite/). I don’t want that, I want to be able to choose wich portfolios will be displayed in a specific category.
Also do you know how to choose the order of appearance of my portfolios in the home page or in the category pages?
Can you help me out please?
Thanks a lot.
Hi there,
1) This has been fixed some time ago, so please download the theme again, from your downloads page on ThemeForest, and replace the old theme folder on your server, with the newly-downloaded one, via FTP .
Note: if you modified the theme directly, then keep your modifications somewhere, so you can apply them to the new files.
2) You can reorder the portfolio items by changing their publishing dates, in the Publish settings box, when you are editing existent, or making new items.
By the way, I would appreciate it if you could reply to this thread, by clicking the “Reply” button, found at the start of the thread, instead of opening a new one. It makes it easier for me, and for other people out here, to keep track of your comments. Thanks!
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Hi Onioneye,
Thanks for your reply.
Ok, I re-installed the theme. However, I still don’t understand how to assign portfolios to a selected page…
Thanks for your help!
Hey!
I finally managed to do this on my own
Now I have an other issue
Since my website is going to be in French, I noticed a bug. If the name of a portfolio category contain an accent, like for instance “Identité” or “Publicité”, the portfolios won’t appear in the portfolio category page. I tried to change the accent with “& e a c u t e ;” (without spaces) but it won’t work (actually Wordpress will put it back into a é). And if I take off the accent, it works… But I definitely need to put an accent!
Again, thanks for your help!
Hi there,
glad you managed to set up your portfolio. Congrats!
Regarding your issue, can I get a link to your portfolio page, so I can inspect this a bit?
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Hi,
So here 2 examples: - With a “é” (Publicité): http://book.bouclettecaramel.com/wordpress/portfolio_categories/publicite/ - Witout a “é” (Identite visuelle which normally has a é at Identité): http://book.bouclettecaramel.com/wordpress/portfolio_categories/identite-visuelle/ First one is not working, second one does.
Also, how can i remove Category tags from appearing underneath the thumbnails. It’s a bit redundant. Like for instance:
Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate.
Hi there,
have you tried using WordPress in French, to see if that works? http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress_in_Your_Language
As far as the categories go, you can remove them with the following, custom CSS code:
The code can be included at the bottom of the style.css file, or via some plugin, made for the purpose of embedding custom CSS to the theme.
By the way, I would appreciate it if you could reply to this thread, by clicking the “Reply” button, found at the start of the thread, instead of opening a new one. It makes it easier for me, and for other people out here, to keep track of your comments. Thanks!
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Accent issue: Yes, my wordpress is in French. I don’t know what to do. It’s kind of weird. Any other solutions?
Category tags: It works perfectly. Thanks!
Other question (wow what a newb): Do you have a php tweak to resize the pictures but proportionately to the original size. Basically I don’t want the portfolio preview picture to be cropped . I want the user to to see the whole image. I know it has something to do with the Timthumb script…
Thanks again!
Hi there,
glad the code for the categories works!
Regarding the accent issue, I really haven’t experienced anything like it, so I don’t know what is causing it, and if it can be attributed to WordPress, or the theme. Can you think of another name for the category? Also, does the use of every other “special character” causes the same issue?
As far as your last question goes, I unfortunately can not support modifications beyond one or two lines of code, but I can give you the files that need to be modified. You would have to modify the style.css file, and one of the portfolio templates, depending on which one you are using for your portfolio page. Here are the available templates:
portfolio-4-cols-with-sidebar.php portfolio-4-cols-no-sidebar.php portfolio-3-cols-no-sidebar.php portfolio-2-cols-with-sidebar.php portfolio-1-col-with-sidebar.php
By the way, this is most definitely a task for a developer.
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Hi!
Thanks for your answser.
I’m still stuck with this accent issue and tt’s a shame the thumbnails don’t display the whole image…
Other issue, on the home page, the portfolio link won’t change. The href is always: http://book.mademoisellekelly.com/my_slider/rythmik-slider/ I keep trying to change the page in the Theme Options, but it’s not working. Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks!
Hey,
Just in case, can you alson drop the CSS tweak on how to remove the id=”portfolio-link” please?
Thanks!
Hey me again!
Can you please check the contact form http://book.mademoisellekelly.com/contact/
It doesn’t work properly… Error message: Please populate all of the fields, and then send your message But as a user i filled up all the fields.
Thanks!
Hi there,
to answer your latest questions:
1) I’m not entirely sure why this is happening, but you can always link to the portfolio page manually, by replacing the following code in the landing-page-template.php file, with the link to your portfolio page:
2)
3) This error is down to your host. You get the following error message, when the contact form tries to do its job:
You can contact your host to inform them about this, and ask them if they can fix it, or you can try using a plugin like “contact form 7”, to see if it will work for you instead.
By the way, if you were to display the full-sized thumbnails, they would escape the boundaries of the content box, which is definitely not a good thing. That’s why large thumbnails are resized to fit the content.
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Hi,
loving the theme so far
Is there a way to get the flickr widget to show a particular set I have on flickr? instead of a group? I have a gallery that i’d like to show which is a single set on my flickr account.
Thanks.
Hi there,
glad you are loving the theme. Thanks a lot for buying it!
As far as the flickr plugin widget goes, I’m not entirely sure your wanted feature is supported. Have you entered your Flickr ID, and made sure the “User” value is selected, under the “Whose Photos to Show” option?
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Also is there a way to reorder the sliders? I can’t seem to figure it out
Thanks!
Hi there,
please refer to the “Slider Setup” section of the theme’s documentation. You have the instructions on how to change the order of the slides there.
Sincerely,
OnionEye
aaand one final question, i’ve implemented the theme at http://www.iwantcake.com.au/ – in the left most widget on the bottom the image of the cake has a square around it, is there any way to get rid of this?
Thanks again! after working with this theme for a few hours it truly is outstanding
Hi there,
glad you find the theme outstanding! Once again, thanks a lot for buying it.
As far as the border around the image goes, you can remove it with the following custom CSS :
The code can be included at the bottom of the style.css file, or via some plugin, made for the purpose of embedding custom CSS to the theme.
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Can’t seem to reply directly so thanks for all your help
greatly appreciated.
Hi there,
you are very much welcome. Glad I could be of some help.
By the way, you can reply to a your thread by clicking the “Reply” button, found at the start of the thread.
All the best,
OnionEye
I uploaded this theme, and unfortunately the “home” page automatically is the blog page. No matter what I change under theme options, the home page is not visible with the slider and the latest project and article section. I have reloaded the theme three times and I still can’t fix this. I am not very experienced with wordpress – HELP !!
Thx Tegan
Hi Tegan,
thanks for buying the theme. Appreciate it!
Please read the documentation, that’s found in the main folder. It contains all the instructions on how to install and completely setup the theme.
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Can You share how?
And also, is there a way to use portfolio page as a normal page? I would like to add more pictures (in standard way) and custom text below. Btw great template, not just look but coding is amazing. Thanks!
Hi there,
please read the documentation, that’s found in the main folder. It contains all the instructions on how to install and completely setup the theme.
Regarding your last question, you would have to modify the theme’s code to use the single portfolio page in a different way.
By the way, thanks for the compliments about the theme, and for buying it, of course! Appreciate it very much!
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Thank you, that was simple
One more thing, how can I limit portfolio display at home page to just one category? I would like to display only 4 items from 1 selected category and cut out others. Thanks!
Hi there,
you are very much welcome.
As far as your latest question goes, it is not something which is available out of the box, so some custom development work is required of you. However, you can always display the portfolio on the homepage, and have the links to your categories in the menu.
Sincerely,
OnionEye
Hi!
Great theme. Thanks.
I have these two problems:
1) The “See all blog posts” link from the front page that should supposedly link to all blog posts, links instead to a portfolio item. Front: http://thomasklintgaard.dk/ How come? And how do I change it?
2) Is it possible to change the naming of the file structure, changing the ”.../my_portfolio/...” to, say ”.../our_portfolio/...”?
I hope you can help me. Thank you very much!
Andreas
Hi there,
glad you find the theme great! Thanks for buying it.
To answer your questions:
1) Are you sure you set your link to the blog page, under the Theme Options panel?
2) You can change the permalinks for the portfolio by modifying the arguments ($args array) inside the of_portfolio_register function, found in the custom-post-type.php file. You need to add a “rewrite” property in there. Please read the “rewrite” section of the following article, to learn how to do it: http://shibashake.com/wordpress-theme/custom-post-type-permalinks
I hope this helps!
Sincerely,
OnionEye
What’s this? Do I reply to my own comment? I can’t reply to your answer? Anyhow:
Thanks for getting back so quickly. Much appreciated.
About the link to all blog posts from the homepage: No, I did not set a blog page. Sorry for bothering you about that. Should have got it on my own.
Now, however, I’ve done so. The page is there, and I’ve successfully made a link from the menu (“Blog”). The page displays posts just as it should.
But horror! I define it in Appearance / Theme Options / Homepage / Blog link… but the “See all blog posts” link does not change. Not a bit. It still links to a portfolio item.
Another simple mistake? I hope you can help. Thanks!
Andreas
Hi there,
you are very much welcome.
Regarding the linking issue, I’m not entirely sure why this is happening, but you can always link to the blog page manually, by replacing the following code in the landing-page-template.php file, with the link to your blog page:
By the way, on ThemeForest, the reply button is always found at the start of the thread. I know it’s not the most intuitive thing, but that is how the comments function in this place.
Sincerely,
OnionEye
@villagreta:
- Create Pages for your categories - In My Portfolio, create Portfolio Categories - In Appearance>Menu add to your menu the Portfolio Categories.
Voila!
I really love this theme. I can’t figure out how to get portfolio items show up on the portfolio page. I assigned one of my pages to be the portfolio page, but when I click on it, or “show all projects,” the page is blank.
http://questionsconcerningreligion.org/w365/?page_id=228How do I get the portfolio items added to this page?
Thanks very much,
Jennifer
Hi Jennifer,
glad you love the theme! Thanks for buying it.
As far as your question goes, I see that you portfolio items are displaying on the chosen page, so I think it’s safe to assume that everything is fine for you now.
By the way, please read the documentation, that’s found in the main folder, if you haven’t already done so. The documentation contains all the instructions on how to install and completely setup the theme.
Sincerely,
OnionEye
