Hi mate. Great theme which I am working on now. Have coding experience but am fairly new to wordpress world.

Easiest would be if we could have view-only access to the WP pages of your demo elegance site – that way I could see how you have configured certain subtleties? For example, contact us Address box or seperate “more about us” menu sidebar on page_id=21.

Also be great to know how to shrink the height of the slider image. Managed to shrink its height ok but can’t find how to shrink the grey horizontal band accordingly?

Hope you can help – thanks, Jon

Hi. Still waiting on reply. We have tested installing fresh install of elegance and cannot get slider images to rotate. Also, when adding except text to slider, a thumbnail is added to slider which is not wanted and cannot get rid of. Have also tested an edit of the bg-container-top but this creates a strange effect (every other pixel missing in grey area: http://blackswansolutions.com.au )

Please advise fixes and timeframe for responce.

Regards, Jon

Hi,

Already replied your email early today, please check your spam box.

Here is the message: to reduce the size of the horizontal bar:

open style.css find this code in line 392-394
.sliderImage .bottom span{padding:0px 10px; display:block; }
.sliderImage .bottom span.title_slider{font-size:18px; line-height:20px;}
.desc_slider{ margin-top:-15px;}
in this code you can set height and font that appear in the grey horizontal

And about the slider only show one image, there is a bud and have been fixed in the latest update.

you only need to put this code after endwhile:

<li class="clear sliderImage"></li>

thanks

I purchase this theme and the custom page templates like portfolio/blog/home are missing. Anyone else have this issue? Shoot me an email: chayton.elan@gmail.com

templatesquare

Hi,

Since our wordpress 3 themes, we don’t use the portfolio/home/blog pages… please read the documentation to setup those pages.

If you still have questions, please send a message to me via my profile page http://themeforest.net/user/templatesquare including this questions/problems, your site url and theme name.

thanks

What would be really useful in documentation – and this really applies to all templates as well as your own is to assume no knowledge of the individual who will be reading it.

Those more ‘advanced’ users can simply bypass the bits they already know. For example with your theme, once installed it bears no resemblance to the theme on the Themeforest site. Having read the documentation I am still (as I am sure are many) struggling to just get it to this stage.

Step-By-Step documentation to recreate the theme on ThemeForest would certainly enhance the understanding of Wordpress and will educate users of some of the potential for themes.

Having installed the theme I have found my page navigation at the top is vertical as opposed to horizontal and I have no idea how to correct this! – this is just one example.

I am one for reading instructions but your paragraph stating:-

The menu setting use the new WordPress 3.0 menu manager, please read the documentation at http://codex.wordpress.org/Appearance_Menus_SubPanel

How does this help?

Would be interested in your feedback and a solution to this issue!

templatesquare

Hi,

The navigation issue is a bug when you don’t use the new wordpress 3 menu manager and have been fixed.

I point the menu settings to http://codex.wordpress.org/Appearance_Menus_SubPanel because its the documentation on how the setup the new wordpress 3 menu.

Please send a message to me via my profile page http://themeforest.net/user/templatesquare including this questions/problems, your site url and theme name.

I will check and reply via email on Monday…

thanks

templatesquare

Hi,

We have update the documentation, we also include some instruction to create menu similar with our demo.

Please re-download the theme..

thanks

thanks for all the help! I’ll inform once I’ve made it out of the woods. A big thanks!

Hi, just a quick question as I consider buying this theme: Is there an option to set the sidebar to the left?

Thank you!

templatesquare

Hi,

Not yet, but we are working on it… we will include in the next update later this week… thanks

@TemplateSquare,

Since you dont support the blog/about/portfolio pages in the theme, can you at least send me the template files for the older version(s) of Wordpress, I’d rather not have to sort through your demo source code and create it from scratch. You should also make note of this in your description or in your readme better. As-is your theme does not follow ThemeForest terms and could be reported due to the fact that it does not come with all functionality that you present in your demo.

templatesquare

Hi,

We don’t use the portfolio/blog/home page templates because we don’t need those templates to create home, portfolio and blog pages.

All functionality present in our demo can be done without those page templates.

This is the advantages of the new wordpress 3.0 new menu system.

You only need to make the portfolio category and blog category as menu then it will work like in the demo.

If you still have problem please send a message to me via my profile page http://themeforest.net/user/templatesquare including this questions/problems, your site url and theme name.

I’m still working on updating the documentation and will be available in the next update…

Thanks

Hey. Thanks for the theme. Looks really great.

Im not that experienced with the wordpress world. So one question: how do i get my theme to show “who we are”, “what we do” and “latest news” on my frontpage? And is it possible to translate the headlines of those?

Once again, thanks for the theme.

templatesquare

Hi,

Please read the documentation #5.b and #7.a

For the latest news on home page you can use the ‘TS – Recent Post’ widget.

If you still have questions, please send a message to me via my profile page http://themeforest.net/user/templatesquare including this questions/problems, your site url and theme name.

thanks

Hello, is it possible to have a video on the HOME screen instead of the photo slideshow? I’d like to have a move trailer instead of the slideshow. Thanks a lot

templatesquare

Hi,

You can change the slider code with video code in the php. If you have difficulty I can help to guide you…

thanks

Okay, i figured out how you’re creating the portfolio page, now I’m wondering if i can change the url structure for the pages. Instead of “portfoliocat” i would like something like “work”. I modified theme-init to rename the taxonomy as well as updated the single and archive pages, then cleared out the DB to make sure that old taxonomies weren’t interfering.. still cannot get it to work. Any help is greatly appreciated.

templatesquare

Hi,

You only need to change the register taxonomy in the theme-init.php

register_taxonomy('portfoliocat', 'portfolio', array('hierarchical' => true, 'label' => 'Portfolio Categories', 'singular_name' => 'Category'));

change the ‘portfoliocat’ to ‘works’

But before change you should remove all the menus related to ‘portfoliocat’ first. After you change the name all the categories that you created related to ‘portfoliocat’ will be gone so you have to create the categories again.

thanks

We have managed to sort out most of this template, I have to say the instructions could be clearer (even 1.2) as for e.g. #6.b 2 states that you should click the ‘Blog’ Tab and there isn’t one. I guess this kind of thing happen’s when you modify an existing document.

However the Blog page is still a problem – firstly as the Blog page is a category and is added to the Menu – there is nowhere to add ‘excerpt’ yet on the ThemeForest demo the text “Nemo enim ipsam voluptatem quia voluptas sit aspernatur aut odit aut fugit, sed quia consequuntur magni dolor es eos qui ratione voluptatem” is shown in this area – so how do we change this?

The breadcrumbs also still seem to be an issue, when we have added the Blog category and added this to the menu, when we click on the Blog page the breadcrumbs show:

You are here: Home » Blog » Blog (Why the extra Blog entry? – should it not be You are here: Home » Blog ??)

The same applies to the Portfolio page when we click on it and land on the page, the breadcrumbs reads:

You are here: Home » Blog » Portfolio Categories: Portfolio (Why the Blog entry in the breadcrumbs ??)

Perhaps answering questions like this in the ThemeForest posts would also help other users as opposed to mailing you privately from your profile – and save you time too!

templatesquare

Hi,

1) The ‘Blog’ tab in the documentation is wrong type, it should ‘Posts’ tab, I will fix this in the documentation

2) The text beside the Blog title is the category description, you can add the description text when you add/edit the category

3) The breadcrumbs issue is nothing to do with the theme, its the breadcrumbs plugin. You can remove the ‘Blog’ text by enter the breadcrumbs setup page (Setting – Breadcrumbs) and remove the ‘Anchor text for the Blog:’ text.

If you still have problem pleae provide your site url or screenshot so I can have visual about your problems, pleae reply to email.

thanks

I have a client I’m working w/ who is considering this template for the site project. I have a few questions:

is it easy to replace the Cufon font?

should it be pretty easy for me to throw a background image into the site design?

can i get rid of the text with the semi-transparent black overlay, in the slider images?

i look forward to your update with the Left Sidebar!

thank you for your great work & design. cheers

s~

templatesquare

Hi,

Yes, it easy to change cufon.

If you know some html/php knowledge it should be easy to use a background image.

Yes, you can get rid the text in the slider images.

Thanks,

wahkeenasitka

okay great. good to know.

i would assume that i would do the editing of the background in the CSS

glad to be able to lose the text in the slider images…...

will contact you further if there are any questions, if the client goes w/ this template.

thank you for your response!

Ok, so we do this and then we end up with

You are here: Home » » Blog

We have also added the PageNavi widget and activated it and we do not see any pagination at the foot of the portfolio??

Lindaart Purchased

Oh and how do we limit the number of items in the portfolio to two rows of 4 like the demo on Theme Forest?

Lindaart Purchased

We would like to suppress the Archives, Categories and Meta from the Link To Details Post Page in the Portfolio – is this possible as we tried the Widget Login Plugin and WP treats the Portfolio and Posts as type Blog and we cannot discriminate between them – any chance of help?

templatesquare

Hi,

Please reply my email include all the additional questions, I will check and reply via email.

Please also include your site url…

thanks

ooooh, has the new update emerged that has the option of putting the sidebar on the left? is that update 1.2?

templatesquare

No, its not the update 1.2…. we still not done the left sidebar position yet.

thanks

Hi. Thanks for a great theme to work with. Is there a way to make the front slider background transparent? Without effecting the opacity of the image that is shown, unless I were using a PNG file that utilizes transparency? Let me know

thanks

Hi. I just seen on the first page of the forum where you answered a question of mine, but I never responded. Sorry about not responding. I believe I got it all figured out.

EXCEPT , I followed the wordpress codex and i cannot seem to get any widgets to show up on the blog page. I am not using ‘blog’ as my navigation title. I used ‘news’ instead. I did everything correctly for it to show up in the navigation and assigned the appropriate slug of, news. Wouldn’t the correct use of the Widget logic be, is_category(news)

i’ve also tried, is_category(‘news’)

nothing seems to work???

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I figured out the Blog widget question I had. I was using the Page Sidebar instead of the Post Sidebar in the widget panel.

I’m still curious on the slider and transparency… as well as making the width less. If you like, we can discuss off of the forum. Just let me know. Sorry for all the posts, haha.

Thanks!
