I ended up buying equilibrium in the end, I like it due to the text is on the side of the portfolio items which works very nicely. I did notice a bit of issue with the view all text in chrome, sometimes appears as view all I think themes look great when full of content, but people sometimes only have 3-4 items they wish to show as categories, as I noticed 10 is the maximum amount to hold in a portfolio piece.

Also in equilibrium, is sit possible to have the logo on the left side and not be dimmed, so that its roll over state is always active?

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Glad you like it. :)

You will be glad to hear that I fixed the minor bugs with text formatting in Chrome, and other small issues as well, so please download the theme again, and update it on your server.

As far as the logo goes, you can have it on the left side, but since this is not available out of the box, some development work is required of you, and that is most definitely a task for a developer.

Hint: the files to modify are header.php and style.css.

When it comes to the rollover state, the following code should work for you:

.opacity #logo, .opacity #wp-title-logo { opacity: 1; }

You can include the code at the bottom of the style.css file, or via some plugin, made for the purpose of embedding custom CSS to the theme.

Hi Onioneye,

we found that in the Three Columns Portfolio Template all the images of the suggested size (306×210 pixel) are cropped of around 6 pixel on the right. This is apparently due to the ”.container_12 .grid_4” limit that is of 300px. So the maximum size to be used in width for this 3 columns template is actually 300px. Thanks for your attention.

Sincerely, 404gang (Luca & Enzo)

onioneye

Hi there again, the 404 gang. :)

You guys are right. The maximum size is 300px, so the width mentioned in the description should be 300px as well.

By the way, Thanks a lot for informing me about this. Appreciate it.

Hi there,

we found that there are problems also with other images sizes that are cropped using the recommended size (for example also big images in the single portfolio template are a little bit cutted on the right and the requested image size is 680 px width). Could you please let us know the correct image sizes to be used in order to prevent cropping for all the portfolio images? (also the images in the “Related articles” for example). Waiting for your prompt reply. Sincerely, 404gang (Luca & Enzo)

onioneye

Hi there,

the 680px * any height image dimensions for the single portfolio template is actually correct. As far as the “Related Articles” section goes, the image dimensions are 300*210.

Absolutely love the theme!

I was wondering if there was some way I could disable the like/tweet/google +1 buttons on the sidebar of the portfolios? Also, how did you add the text on that same sidebar?

Many Thanks!

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you love the theme! Thanks for buying it. :)

To answer your questions:

1) The following custom code should do:

.single-portfolio .share-this { display: none; }

You can include the code at the bottom of the style.css file, or via some plugin, made for the purpose of embedding custom CSS to the theme.

2) The text can be entered in the content editor (large text area), that displays, when you are editing existent, or making new items.

1. I would like to display the recent blog articles on home page, but deactivate the articles slider. I would still like to keep the pagination, so that clicking on the thumbnail will advance the next article. How do I deactivate the slider for this area? Or at very lest be able to change the speed on the article slider to slow it down. Having both sliders on the homepage is really distracting. I am working local using Mamp, so can’t send a link to my work space. Any help is very appreciated. 2. How to add Pinterest selection to social area. I don’t need it in the theme options, just need code and location on php page. Thanks much.

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

To answer your questions:

1) Setting the “play” argument to zero (0) instead of 4000, in the jquery.custom.js file, should do the thing.

2) After making your Pinterest icon, and uploading it to the /equilibrium/images/layout/ directory, you should modify the theme-functions.php file; more specifically, the “eq_social_networks” function found within it.

Hello,

I love the Equilibrium theme and have been trying to upload images to the portfolio, but I keep getting this script displaying instead of the image. The thumbnail images does not display either.

Warning: Division by zero in /var/www/vhosts/alicelakehammond.com/httpdocs/wp/wp-content/themes/equilibrium/single-portfolio.php on line 58

I’ve tried to fix the issue, but I can’t – sorry!

Could you advise what I’m doing wrong? I have been uploading the images via the portfolio page…

Thanks,

Hi there,

please make sure the “File URL ” button is selected, when you are setting the images in the media uploader.

Screenshot of the “File URL ” button: http://www.diigo.com/item/image/1mr8l/sjb1?size=o

Note: you only have to click the File URL button once, and it will be active for all other images set in the future, but you are going to have to go back and reselect the images that have already been set.

Hello – currently using equilibrium – Love how clean and simple it is.

One request though: Multiple portfolios within a website – OR the ability to sub-group projects under “portfolio”, including options for a drop-down menu.

Currently, the portfolio page shows every project loaded – while that’s nice as an option, it also can be visually overwhelming. Like the tag feature, but sort of easy to overlook.

Any chance you might consider that addition/change?

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you love the theme! Thanks for the purchase. :)

As far as multiple portfolios go, many people have asked for it before, but it would unfortunately be next to impossible to integrate into the theme. The thing is, I can not possibly know how many portfolios every client would need, and there is no way of the theme creating them dynamically, based on every individual’s needs. I haven’t seen any developers tackle this with success so far, so I still don’t know of any viable solution to this. On top of all that, us theme developers unfortunately can’t cater to everyone’s needs, and that’s where freelancers come in, to customize the theme for you, so you can have the features such as the multiple portfolios, available to you.

The ability to sub-group projects under “portfolio” would be a much more viable solution in this case, but since it is not available out of the box, some development work is required of you. This is most definitely a task for a developer. Hint: the main thing to do in this case would be to make your taxonomy.php file.

Good luck with this! :)

Hello. Love the wordpress theme but am having two issues: 1. I cannot get any of the sliders to show up on the homepage 2. I cannot seem to create a portfolio section like what you have on the demo.

it looks like you’ve been tinkering with the slider height option, under the Theme Options panel, but I see that you managed to set your height to the appropriate value. :)

Still loving this theme and getting lots of compliments on it. The one thing I can’t figure out is how to link an individual portfolio item from the homepage to another page, instead of going to the portfolio section?

Thanks so much for your help, you guys are great. www.the-dark-matter.com

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you are still loving the theme! :)

As far as your question goes, the portfolio items on your homepage are properly linked to their respective pages, so I am not sure what you are aiming at. Can you please try to elaborate it a bit more, by replying to this post?

P.S. the reply button is found at the start of this thread.

Sincerely,

OnionEye

Another question: Can I change the template of an individual portfolio item? I need copy appear on the page as full width (without a huge picture). Right now it squeezes all the copy into a little sidebar on the left.

onioneye

Hi there,

the answer to your question is a definite yes, but you would have to modify the single-portfolio.php file, including the style.css file as well, to achieve what you are after. By the way, that is definitely a task for a developer.

What is the username to log on to your server?

Do you have a video where you are showhing how you do it with filezilla??

I really hope for some help because i cant wait to get started..

Thanks

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

Please try the WordPress upload option, by navigating to the Appearance -> Themes -> Install Themes -> Upload tab of your WordPress admin panel, as that method is much easier than uploading the theme via FTP . For further directions, please refer to the documentation.

Hi there,

Love the theme and I’ve done some tweaks on it. Just one question, at the moment all the portfolio single pages have url in the form of

www.xxxxx.com/portfolio/xxxxx

Is it possible at all to change the part ‘portfolio’ to something else? I’ve made some changes in the php files so that on web pages texts are shown as ‘View items’ instead of ‘View portfolios’, etc etc.. The only change I failed to make is the url.

I know this may sound absurd but I wouldn’t call my client’s showcase content a set of ‘portfolios’...

Please could you shed some lights on this? Which part of the theme I should be looking at? Many thanks!

(By the way I read some of the earlier messages, seems someone is asking if can create a display page for portfolios in a certain category? I manually created portfolio-4-columns-cat1.php template from portfolio-4-columns.php, and in myquery I added ‘portfolio_categories’ = ‘cat1’. Very manual but it solved my problem… :p )

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you love the theme! Thanks for buying it. :)

As far as your question goes, you need to modify the arguments ($args array) found inside the yy_portfolio_register function; i.e. add a “rewrite” property in there. Please read the “rewrite” section of the following article, to learn more: http://shibashake.com/wordpress-theme/custom-post-type-permalinks

Note: the file that needs to be modified is called custom-post-type.php.

Hey!

I just bought this theme and installed it. Seems to work fine with firefox but doesn’t look good at all on Chrome. White background, no pattern, text is formated as a list, font is Times new Roman and links are blue and underlined. Just like no css is found or something..

Any clue to help me out?

Thank you!

Nevermind. It works fine now!... :s

Curious, what would be the best way to limit the number of “related projects” shown on the portfolio-single page? I’m thinking this might be a solution to the fact that we can’t easily create sub-portfolios (as suggested by Arroventata above). I’m also dealing with a situation where the single page is becoming overwhelming for some category filters when viewing a project. Limiting it to 4 or 8 related projects would be sufficient.

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

To limit the number of related projects in the single item view, a developer would have to modify the single-portfolio.php file, as it contains the code for the “Related Projects” section.

changing lines 197-199 on single-portfolio.php to:
<?php if($count === 4) { // if the current row is filled out with columns, reset the count variable ?>

<?php break; ?>
seems to work, where the value of $count is the number of items you want to display.

Hi Zlatan!

I can’t seem to upload any logo to the site. The picture is uploaded, saved, but it doesn’t appear on the website itself. Is there a specific dimension I need for the logo?

Naby

onioneye

Hi Naby,

I’m almost 100% positive this is happening because of the modifications you, or your developer, introduced to the theme, but I can’t tell for sure, unless you manage to retrieve the modified version of the theme, which seems to be lost at the moment, judging by your latest comment.

Hope everything goes fine, by the way! :)

Hi Zlatan, it’s me again, sorry.

I’ve re-download the theme and installed it to wordpress, however, all the ‘technical’ changes made to certain pages are lost! :S How do I update the theme without losing coding changes made before.

Sorry for the string of questions!

Thank you.

Naby

onioneye

Hi Naby,

the old theme folder should be replaced with the new theme folder only if the theme files have not been directly modified. Otherwise, only the files that haven’t been modified should be replaced with the newly-downloaded ones, and the ones that were should be updated manually. Therefore, it is always a good idea to make any modifications to the theme using a child theme instead, especially when you are introducing large and multiple customizations.

Having said all that, the old and modified theme folder should still be in the /wp-content/themes/ directory, on your server, if you haven’t overwritten it. If you did, then please contact your host to see if there is any chance you can get it back.

Thank you Zlatan, I managed to solve that one with your help.

Now I’m cracking my head trying to upload a 940×440 pixel image to the home page slider but it doesn’t seem to appear on the site. The image has been uploaded but it doesn’t show on the homepage slider.

What must I do to make it work? Isn’t it supposed to be as simple as uploading any image?

Hi Naby,

Hi, I’d like to add the Pinterest Pin It button to the share section at the bottom of each post. How do I do this? Thanks, Sarah (sarahcargill.com)

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

The current social sharing buttons are added via the share_this function, found in the functions.php file, and the scripts needed to run certain buttons are added via the share_this_scripts function, that can be found in the enqueues.php file. You would have to modify these two, to add new buttons, but it all depends on the specific sharing button, so I guess that your best bet would be to do some googling, as to see if the sharing button you want could be implemented this way. If you don’t have any coding experience, then I suggest you hire someone to do this for you, or alternatively try to find a sharing plugin, that will match your needs.

Hi,

I’m having issues with this theme. I love it, it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for, but it seems buggy. I’m overwriting an old wordpress site that I had, and the theme uploaded fine. But when I go to insert images into the portfolio section, nothing happens. I’ve tried pngs, jpgs, made sure they were sized correctly, and when I hit insert into posts, nothing comes up. I have another wordpress site for my blog, so I know my way around. This has never happened before. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi there! I have a couple of questions for you: 1. Is there a quick fix to clear fields after the message was sent on the contact form? It’s confusing that it stays there. 2. I’ve embedded a couple of custom fonts and they work, except some variables are overridden with “font-family: ‘Open Sans’, arial, serif;” settings, and I cant find where it comes from! :) I’ve probably looked at every single line of every file, still cant find it. Help? Thanks!

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

To answer your questions:

1) Yes, but some JavaScript/jQuery development would be required of you. By the way, you can put your custom JS code in the jquery.custom.js file.

2) You need to go through the style.css file, where you will find the mentioned pieces of code. Once you find them, you need to change them to point to your new fonts.

Hope this helps!

Sincerely,

OnionEye

Hi man :) i’ve read that in a previous update, there’s the possibility to upload 10 items in a portfolio page … But on my control panel i’ve only che chance to upload 5 images …

how can i solve this problem? Thank you so much!

onioneye

Hey! :)

I updated the theme a very long time to be able to hold ten images per a single portfolio item, so please download the theme again from ThemeForest, and replace the old theme folder (equilibrium), on your server, with the new one, via FTP . Once you do that, you should be fine.

P.S. if you modified any of the theme files directly, instead of using a child theme, be sure to store those files somewhere, so you don’t lose your modifications.

Oh, and since you haven’t updated for such a long time, you might need to set some settings in the Theme Options panel again, like the logo and the custom headline text.

Sincerely,

OnionEye
