Hello I am having trouble getting my Services sidebar to show like you have in your demo. I did everything I believe according to your guide but it will not show.

THBThemes

Hi bats,

what version of Eruption WordPress are you running? Please make sure to update to the latest version (1.3.2), and place the Custom Services widget in your home page sidebar. Also make sure to use the “Custom” layout for the home page.

The widget is fully customizable, so you shouldn’t have problems with that.

If you still have problems, please provide us with your site URL and admin credentials, throughout our contact form, and we’ll try to see what’s going on.

I am trying to link directly to specific types in the template-portfolio page.

I copied the link to one: /projects/#alpha-aviation but when you click on this it shows all work – not just the works in the aviation category. Is there any way to directly link to a type on the portfolio page?

Also by default the portfolio shows all works is there any way to not do this? I would like it to display none unless one of the types is selected via the type menu. I would prefer that the visitor selects which work type they wish to see..

Hi btgalen,

we’re sorry but both of your requests aren’t available at the moment in Eruption WordPress.

Very nice template! You should be proud of yourself :) But what about adding a pricing table for the theme? It is a corporate theme after all – and that thing missing still makes me wondering whether this is the right template for me. Otherwise – great work!!!

THBThemes

Hi andy 77,

thanks for the kind words and for the pricing table advice; we might include that feature in a future release.

Thanks for your reply, but that leaves me a little bit stranded. It’s just a tabel (shortcode) as a lot of the other templates have. Would love to use your skin but a pricing table is essential (as it is for a lot of businesses). If you promise to include it, I’d love to buy it!

Hi piajartist,

the table you saw in the demo is not a shortcode, it’s a regular html table.

Is there a way to add breadcrumbs or link to a the portfolio categories? I think users may get annoyed if they have to keep clicking back.

THBThemes

Hi piajartist,

Eruption WordPress doesn’t have a breadcrumb navigation system out of the box, but it’s relatively easy to add one, using one of the many good plugins out there. We think this one is one of the most reliable: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/breadcrumb-navxt/ We’re not sure if it addresses your needs completely, but it’s definitely worth a try.

Also note that you can enable navigation (Previous, Next navigation) between works in the administration panel.

Did Eruption support child themes?

THBThemes

Hi former,

we’re sorry, but unfortunately Eruption doesn’t support child themes at the moment.

Fixed my problem… but can i somehow add more than 10 services to the services area of my homepage? I am using the custom home page option from the theme options, and want all of my services posts to be shown. Can’t figure out how to do this best. Thanks in advance.

THBThemes

Hi Brainspike,

we suggest that you use the Services widget that we’ve introducted in the latest versions of Eruption WordPress, and place it in a sidebar of your choice.

Using this widget you can easily control the appearance of the Services box and also the number of services shown.

Using Google Chrome, i have tried installing the theme i purchased through ftp, that did not work, so i tried installing it through wordpress directly, it starts to upload, but once it gets around 70%+ it gives me this error

Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset

or starts back at zero, i have tried resetting my modem, what am i doing wrong? i really need to get this theme uploaded!

THBThemes

Hi BrianHinesley,

this clearly isn’t a problem related to Eruption WordPress per se. After a quick search, we’ve found that other Google Chrome users have had this problem: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=476f762a0f84017f&hl=en

We suggest to try using another browser, such as Firefox. If the problem persists, it might be a good idea to contact your provider or your host to see if they have something to do with your error.

OK, I bought the theme. Still nice – but with a sincere lack of features. Why can’t I for instance:

1) Fully control what slides I want on the front page? I can only choose between “latest work” and pictures from blogposts – but what if the pictures, I’d like here is something unique?

2) And why can’t the images be clickable. Now they only serve as a gallery. A lot of other themes have these options.

3) Possibility of customize the language. “read more” on the front page is a no go if you’re a Danish agency as we are. So why not make an option to edit the standard phrases yourself – this goes too for the contact information.

Besides all that – when I make a thumbnail for a blog post the picture suddenly appears twice in the blogpost itself. But in the html-code for the post it only appears once – so I can’t remove it without removing the thumbnail….

THBThemes

Hi andy77,

1) you can choose between the latest blog posts featured images, latest works featured images and custom pictures by creating one entry in the Slideshow custom post, and attaching pictures to that entry via the Attachments plugin.

Please refer to the guide on how to do so.

2) Clickable slideshow images is a feature that isn’t available in Eruption WordPress, yet you can add a link in the picture’s caption.

3) Eruption WordPress is fully translatable, and the archive file you downloaded already contains the .po and .mo files to do so. To fully customize the language of Eruption WordPress, you’ll have to edit such files by following the instructions you can find on the official docs: http://codex.wordpress.org/Translating_WordPress

Thank you for your reply.

But what about this:

Besides all that – when I make a thumbnail for a blog post the picture suddenly appears twice in the blogpost itself. But in the html-code for the post it only appears once – so I can’t remove it without removing the thumbnail….

How will I make this work?

And is there any way to make the images in the slideshow clickable – the pictures caption is far too small to be seen, not in line with the otherwise nice layout – and should not have been there in the first place. Sorry to say!

THBThemes

Hello andy77,

could you please provide us with the admin credentials to your website and the URL through our contact form, so that we can look better into the problem?

Thanks!

Hi I am also really fond of this template. I am working on getting some images onto the home page slide show. I saw under FAQs where you walk through it.

However, when I create a new slide show I do not get the attach button. Do I need a patch or update?

Also interested in changing the proportions of the logo image. Any ideas.

THBThemes

Hi amyhale,

you probably need to install the Attachments plugin and activate it for the Slideshow and Works custom post type. You can find the detailed instructions at page 14/15 of our guide.

Hi,

I’ve just installed the theme on a fresh installation of the latest Wordpress and there seems to be an issue with the admin.js. I can’t access the Eruption admin panel or edit a page whilst the theme’s activated. Using the developer tools in Safari – whilst accessing either pages I get the following error:

TypeError: Result of expression ‘jQuery(”.duplicable-section”).sortable’ [undefined] is not a function.

Could you help please?

Thanks

THBThemes

Hi Russell,

from what we see, it seems that WordPress hasn’t loaded the jQuery UI plugin correctly, which is weird since we’re loading it from the very WordPress core.

Have you tried to clean your browser’s cache?

- The Happy Bit

Default-user

Thanks for the reply :), unfortunately clearing the cache didn’t work, I’ve also tried it on both my home and work computer and it’s no different,

That is odd, it’s a brand new installation, I then upgraded it to the latest version (3.2.1 I believe). I tried deleting the part in admin.js which is referred to in the error code but that just brought up a new error about a syntax error :S

Any help would be great! Thanks

I sent an earlier message. Since then got the slide show up and running. Am still looking for some insight into changing the logo size and placement.

Also wondering how to use the slide show on the home page with static content. Seems like the slide show disappears when I choose static front page. Although the demo appears to do just what I want to.

Looking forward to your reply.

THBThemes

Hi amyhale,

concerning the logo, its size is directly determined by the image you’re using. If you upload an image that’s 150×100, your logo will be exactly 150×100.

Of course, our advice is not to exceed uploading pictures that are too big, and that wouldn’t fit very well in the layout.

Concerning the slideshow, it is only loadable in a dynamic home page context (which is also the case for our demo), hence we suggest that you create your home page using the custom layout options (slogan and introductory text, under the “Home page” tab in our admin panel).

is there anyway to stop the featured images from being auto inserted into the posting?

THBThemes

Hi deemasaurus,

Eruption’s design is made so that the featured image appears on top of the blog post/page, and as a thumbnail in the blog view. If you don’t want any of that, you simply have to remove the featured image for the post/page.

Hi Happy Bit,

I am very happy with your theme! I’am getting a lot of compliment. So thanks for that.

Since yesterday I have one problem with my website and I hope you can help me? I added a new menu ‘training’ and for some reason in explorer seems everything working fine, but in chrome and safari my menu is not working correctly. The ‘contact’ menu is not in line with the others.

www.epepper.nl

Do you have a solution?

Kind regards, Larissa (from the Netherlands)

THBThemes

Hi Larissa,

the problem resides in the fact that Explorer and Chrome/Safari render things slightly different when it comes to measures. In this particular case, the space allowed for the menu is too small for the “Contact” item to be contained in the same line as the others, so the line breaks.

In Explorer this doesn’t happen probably because its fonts are rendered a little lighter, allowing for more space in the menu.

We’re sorry, but that’s how browsers work, and there isn’t much we can do about it here. A way around the problem, though, is to disable the search box in the menu bar, hence allowing for more space for your menu items (also, you can always have your search box in a sidebar as a widget).

hi again, the slideshow is working fine.

I am still having issues with the logo. From within the dashboard it seems very specific – the size the logo needs to be. When I try to insert one that is a different size it will only show me a piece of it.

Where would I go to override the dimensions?

THBThemes

Hi amyhale,

you can upload your new logo directly from our admin panel > Logo & favicon section, the header height will be automatically adapted to your new image.

If you still have problems could you please provide us with the admin credentials to your website and the URL through our contact form, so that we can look better into the problem?

I changed host to Hostgator, i am using firefox browser, and i am getting this error when i am trying to install the template, i have tried redownloading the file multiple times, and still getting the same issue, really need some help here

http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/4589/errorff.jpg
THBThemes

Hello Brian,

the error is not Firefox related. You have to make sure that the zip file of the theme is called “eruption.zip”, not “eruption-wordpress1.zip”, as that would require additional theme configuration.

Those errors are generated by WordPress itself, not the theme. They might be related to the fact that Eruption’s folder is not named correctly.
