someone just had the same problem, here is what should be the cause:

I think your mod_security on your server is overzealus in blocking stuff. You can mail your hosting to look into it and possibly make an exception for that admin file or just turn off the mod_security (it’s nice to have, but not crucial).

You can also try to do it yourself by adding

<IfModule mod_security.c>
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off
</IfModule>

to the .htaccess file in wordpress folder, and it will be turned off if your hosting allows for such settings to be controlled from user side.

There is also a slim chance that above is not the case, and that it’s caused by some wrong permissions on the folders in wp-admin and wp-content (should be set to 755), but this was never the case so far.

I found a plugin (WPtouch) to give a mobile view of the theme but some of the shortcodes/code appear as text like the super buttons. Is this something you could offer support on? or is it a case of editing the plugin?

can’t fix that, the plugin that you mention is basically just a new theme that fires only on certain browsers. The shortcodes are tightly integrated with the theme so naturally they don’t work when used elsewhere. I think there are plugins that can get the not working shortcodes brackets out from the content, but the functionality cannot be restored, unless the new theme (mobile) gets the same shortcode php.

Hey, It’s explained in the help, in section C-editing content. The image upload is slightly different since wordpress 3.5+, but it’s just the looks of uploader that changed, the rest is all the same, it’s even easier and better nowadays. Other than that – the slider is glued to a template page that you need to select when creating a page that is going to have it (if you imported the dummy content you got it already set up), and the animation options can be found in etherna panel, slider tab.

you need to wrap both the sidebar and content in grids shortcodes first, otherwise sidebar takes up all the space that’s given

try .nivo-controlNav a{text-indent:9999px !important} normal is -9999, but I guess you use rtl language so this might help

changing the menu color would require some edits to png image sprites, not hard itself, just a bit tedious I guess. Some css editing involved as well, but with not-minified files that are bundled it should be easy too (css is divided into commented sections)

indeed, there is a bug in wp 3.5+ with this, and I’ve got a fixed 1.2a version of the theme for it. Mail me through the contact form on this page: http://themeforest.net/user/EvGreen and I’ll send you the updated one.

1.2a will come out this week, but if anyone else wants it faster, feel free to mail me and I’ll send it to you.

just re-download the pack from themeforest and overwrite the files on your server at wordpress/wp-content/themes/Etherna_WP with the unzipped content from THE THEME folder, and that’s it

just do a backup of the files beforehand, safety first

lists are a bit different to make them stand out, if you want to make them look like regular paragraphs use:

Many thanks once again. I’ll update the theme files to 1.2a, as I’m using WP 3.5+. However using html for the buyme button seems to lose the horizontal alignment of the button (it aligns to the left of pricing div, rather than centrally), so for now I’ve left it as standard usage and opening the target url in the same window.

any luck with updating? try one more thing – in settings=>reading set the number of displayed posts to 1 or 3 (default is 10), the theme has its own setting for that in etherna admin panel and sometimes it clashes with the default wordpress one

Sorry I didn’t get back to your first message! I checked and I was updated to the most recent incarnation, but the fix you just sent worked like a charm! Thank you.

I just have one other question. Thanks for the notes on switching the author’s name to a link, I do think I will use that. However, the folks I’m working with would also like it to be possible to search the First name/Last name of an author and find their posts on the site. For whatever reason this doesn’t seem to work via the search function, and I wasn’t sure what to offer as a solution other than manually adding the name of authors into the body texts of the posts. What are your thoughts on that?

hmm, don’t think wp default search has an option for posts search by user, you could try some plugins tho, like “advanced search”.

as for the other ideas – do the thing from my previous response, that will relief you from adding the links manually. Also, you could try some widget that lists all authors in the sidebar, I am sure that there is a plugin for that

I know that some users added woocommerce to etherna, but unfortunately I don’t know/remember exactly who

You will probably need to hire someone that is familiar with woocommerce implementations anyways, as just the installation part is a tenth of a whole job – big thing is adding new styles and classes to actually make it look good and connected with the theme.

The guide you linked is pretty straight-forward, just instead of page.php, duplicate index.php, and it should start working

hey, twitter killed 1.0 api just recently and the widget won’t work anymore, or until a lightweight workaround is found on the plugin page http://tweet.seaofclouds.com/ which then I’d implement.

Just try out some other twitter widgets from wordpress plugin library, or use twitters own embedded timelines

Thanks for getting back to me on this. I guess we’ll just throw their bare-bones widget in place of the nice Etherna styling and make it look as close as we can. I’ll watch your theme main page for whenever you have an update, as I’d much rather use the styling you had (looked SO much better than Twitter widget)!
