Is there way to replace the Text heading with an image logo?

kubasto

Yes, put your image’s URL to Appearance / Theme Options / Header / Logo text or image path

Hi there,

Lovely looking theme.

I have a problem though. With IE8 , the pages stall for anything up to 10 seconds on every page. I think it has something to do with the fancybox code. Works great in Chrome though.

Unfortunately, the majority of browsers are IE8 .

Anything you can do to look into it ?

Many thanks,

Jamie

Can I see your site, please?

JamieUK Purchased

Sure,

it’sJamieDurrant.com

Thank you,

Jamie.

I’ve just tested your site on IE8 and none of pages loads longer than 2-3 seconds, so I’m not sure what the problem might be.

JamieUK Purchased

Hmm, thats odd.

It’s definately taking me around 6 seconds on each page, minimum. Wonder if it’s cause I’m logged into admin. I’ll have to investigate further. Thank you for looking into it though Kubasto.

Cheers, Jamie.

Is it at all possible to make the background pure white?

kubasto
To delete background image, paste following code into the Custom CSS code field in the Fast Blog options:
body { background-image: none; }
or to delete the background image and make it white, paste:
body { background: #fff; }

In theme options I have added as logo text: EyeAmsterdam.com: Eye on Amsterdam

When I look at the site in IE or Chrome, the logo text ‘flashes’ – it first shows ‘EyeAmsterdam:’ and later the full logo text.

This does not happen in FF.

Site: http://eyeamsterdam.com

Sometimes IE has problem with Cufón font replacement method and it takes some time to display it (Chrome is OK. What version do you use?). I’m working on optimizing it, but there is a method I can advise you to use: Make the logo as an image (there is PSD file included), and it’s bullet proof then.
Cheers.

Hi, I needed to rebuild my blog from scratch so I decided to change to you theme. I think that I will need to ask you more thing after a deeper exploration but right now I will like to know how to activate the thanslation of the theme.

I have created it using Poedit (thanks for the info) and copied it to their folder in the server but I don´t see nothing different, all is still in english and I don´t see the translated resources, only the original ones.

For flickr It will be good to have the option to choose the width of the images, and option with the image width being the same than the side bar will be welcome.

Cheers

Hi,
What WordPress language version do you use, and what do you want it to translate to?
-
Flickr serves only specific sizes, so you can’t change it to whatever you want. You can observe, that the 75×75px size is so commonly used on many websites.

Hi, a great theme! Before I buy one question: What about the translation into other languages?

kubasto

Hi,
translation is based on po/mo files and described in the documentation.
Thanks.

Hi Kubasto,

Thanks for your answer. You were right, I was using the default english version of WP. Now both language files (WP and Fast Blog) are the spanish translations and I have defined the WP LANG parameter that was empty.

I had a problem with the box icons that was solved changing the language files. I say it just in case some other experiences the same problem.

About Flickr, the standar WP widget allows to select between “small” and “thumbnail”. If “small” it displays 2 images in a row, if “thumbnail” only 1. I think that “small” is too small is most cases. I think that is a very easy and valuable update to add this option in your widget.

Also in both cases the each row must be centered for a better design, right now yours is left aligned. Or you can include the align option in the widget.

Now, regarding Tumlog:

When I edit the original Tumlog names to translate it really creates a new one, so in fact I´m duplicating them with a different (translated) name. There isn´t a way to delete the originals while maintaining the translated ones?

More. I´ve checked your Tumlog icons in Photoshop and I see that all of them are in the same file, so what is needed to create and add more icons (I will need 2 or 3 more) and have it working properly.

I´m talking about Icons, not about functionality. By example if I will like to diferenciate visually 2 different kings of Article blog entries, or if I will like to add also an alternative audiio or video icon to be used in different situations?

Some advice to do it will be great, I´m not talking about a Photoshop course, only about how to extend the canvas size, the order of the icons, etc…

And finally (for today, I hope) what are the exact widths of the main area and the sidebar. I need to resize a lot of pictures from my previous blog design.

Cheers

kubasto

Hi,
According to flickr, what “standar WP widget” are you talking about?

I don’t thing centering flickr images would look better. Myaybe is some specific cases, I’ll think about such option.

When you translte tumblog names, don’t change the slug parameter, just the name.

All post icons are located in one graphic file to optimize website loading. If you want to add another icon, turn on photosho guides – you will see the slot-structure. Create new slots for new icons. You will also need to make CSS changes in lines 451 and 479.

Main area width is 528 px (or 678 px if there are no post icons in use), sidebar area is 200 px.

Cheers

Have great theme, it just installed. But how can I make the logo bigger?

Netrobin Purchased

Hi again, it works with the images not in any way. The size of the image does not fit. Have made it so as described in the comments

kubasto

If you’ve followed the instructions I gave previously it should be fine. Can I see your site, please?

www.netrobin.de

The Logo is ok now. After I posted a picture I have viewed the article and then insert the images in the content. The images were then too large and the lightbox not working. Must I use the Insert button or by the whole html code?

kubasto

Exactly which image are you talking about?

kubasto

Just select different image size when you put them into a post (when you use insert image, there are few sizes to choose from).

Netrobin Purchased

Ok now I have found out myself. The image must subsequently decrease in the settings, then it works. Yesterday probably had a blackout

Hi Kubasto,

Thanks for the answers.

“standar WP widget” for flickr. I´m talking about the widget included in all the wordpress.com blogs, I used it time ago before to have my blog hosted out of the wordpress.com system. You can check it creating a test blog in wordpress.com if you like.

It uses “small” and “thumbnail” sizes from flickr. In the same way that your widget calls the “small” pictures it can call also the “thumbnail”. The only difference will be that the small pictures fits 2 in a row and the thumbnail must host only 1.

The main reason to have it centered is that most of the things in the side bar use the full width, by example you have distributed 6 social icons in that width so they are perfectly aligned to left and right borders and proportionally distributed and spaced. With the “small” flickr pictures is different because you have them aligned to the left side but left some free space in the right. Centered will have a better look. And the same if you add the “thumbnail”, as it don´t will fit the full sidebar width is better to have it centered.

Regarding Tumlog:

I´ve created 2 more Icons added to the left of yours. You said that I must change CSS in lines 451 and 479.

That means that I must do this:

.post .post-icon.link { background-position: 0 0; } .post .post-icon.quote { background-position: -117px 0; } .post .post-icon.article { background-position: -234px 0; } .post .post-icon.image { background-position: -351px 0; } .post .post-icon.video { background-position: -468px 0; } .post .post-icon.audio { background-position: -585px 0; } .post .post-icon.custom { background-position: -702px 0; } .post .post-icon.audio { background-position: -819px 0; } .post .post-icon.custom { background-position: -936px 0; }

And the same after line 479?

Nothing more? Tumlog will recognize the icon to use by the name of the slug and will use the correct icon? Or I will need further changes?

Thanks for all your help.

Cheers

Hi Kubasto,

Now I understand your point about the align or not of the flickr widget. I see that the rest of widgets align the same way so the look is good. Before I had only the social icons and the flickr widget and the look was different.

About the Icons I finally adopted a different way to show the post Icons that I need. As I don´t need the Quotes and Links post I have adapted them to my blog content and simply changed these 2 icons for new designs that fit perfect with the theme and the blog content.

I have some index by categories hand updated but I have seen that the user “ipnoguida” has a General Index in his blog and will like to know if it´s a theme option of if it´s a plug-in or widget from Worpress because I can´t find the option to created it.

A voting system placed below the post icon will be a nice upgrade to know what the readers like more. I think that 5 stars will fit OK with your theme, 10 will be too much.

Cheers

kubasto

Hi,
ipnoguida’s index is not a theme’s feature. I guess it’s a plugin.

I’ll think about the stars system, thanks.

Default-user

Thank you, I will ask him about that Index.

Hi Kubasto!

I love this theme! I would like to know if I can add a featured content gallery (photo or video) under the header?

Looking forward to hearing from you. Great work!

Peace, TK

kubasto

Hi,
currently there is no such feature. I’ll think about adding it.

Default-user

Can we use a plugin like http://www.featuredcontentgallery.com/ and add it to the page? Will it work?

kubasto

Yes. I’ve tested it and it worked fine. I’ve made one CSS modification to make it look better. If you decide to use it – let me know if you want me to share it with you.

Cheers.

how do I add the contact form??

kubasto

Create page and select template “Contact” for it.
It’s described in the documentation (page 6) :)

Yet another question for you…

I was wanting to get a theme with a sidebar that lets me fit 300×250px boxes inside of it. Could I mess with the CSS and expand the sidebar easily? If so, would it be easier to get rid of or shrink the icons to left of each post to make up for that space?

kubasto

Sure, it’s doable, but needs some code changes. This kind of modifications are beyond theme support, though.

@alfiericreative

The contact for is a PAGE

Go to Pages add new, insetr a tittle, Contact Me, by example, and in the right sidebar under template select Contact Form.

That´s all, you don´t need to include further info, the form will use the info that you have in your blog settings.

Hope this will help.

kubasto

Thanks :)
