Common WordPress Installation Issues

Missing style sheet error when installing the theme

A common issue that can occur with users new to installing WordPress themes is a “Broken theme and/or stylesheets missing” error message being displayed when trying to upload or activate the theme. This error message does not mean that the theme you have purchased is broken, it simply means it has been uploaded incorrectly. Luckily, there is a very easy fix.

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW TO LINK YOUR MENU ITEM TO A SECTION (SCROLL TO SPECIFIC SECTION)?

While creating or editing your main menu on Admin > Appearance > Menus, add a “Link” item to the menu and for the URL field type hashtag (#) followed by the section id (example: #section-id).

So, for the specific sections that come with the theme you would enter, as follows:

Gallery (#section-galleries)
About (#section-about)
Blog (#section-blog)
Contact (#section-contact)

That goes for linking your items to sections on the homepage, but if you’d like to link your menu items to posts or pages, the standard way (so they would open as a new page/post, not as a section on the homepage) you’d go to Appearance > Menus, select your items and insert them to your menu.

WHEN UPDATING FROM VERSION 1.0 OF THE THEME, HOW TO UPDATE THE ‘GALLERIES’ PLUG-IN, THAT COMES WITH IT?

You can do it in two ways:

MANUAL UPDATE (through FTP)
Find the themes1-femto-galleries.zip located inside your theme folder on /core/includes/tgm-plugin-activation/plugins/ and extract it. Now go to your /plugins/ folder on your WordPress installation and replace the existing “themes1-femto-galleries” folder with the extracted one.

UPDATE THROUGH WORDPRESS ADMIN
Go to Admin > Plugins and locate the “Themes1 – Femto Galleries” plugin. Deactivate it first then delete it completely. After the plugin is deleted, you’ll get a message on the top of plugins list that tells you to install required plugins (in this case: Femto Galleries). Continue with installing the plugin through the “Begin installing plugin”.
