Couldn’t wait and purchased it and i gotta say it is sooo sweet to work with! First time a theme worked for me instantly without too much hassle, since i have no coding knowledge whatsoever it was a pain lately to install something that was ‘ready to go!’ until i had this one.

I do have a 1 problem though and i am a TOTAL noob on this so please excuse me.. thing is, the footer graphic works everywhere except on my ‘home’ page, am i overlooking something? or did i do something wrong?

And just a sidequestion; can i make a additional page like the homepage but under a different name like ‘blog’ ? So that when you navigate to it it would show the pictures layout like on the homepage.

sorry for my english :P

Best Regards,

Hi Massfocus!

1. Can you show me a link so I can check out the footer issue for ya? As long as you have a widget down there, it should load up nice and easy for ya :)

2. Yep – I’ll be releasing some followup tutorials on advanced usage of this theme next week and one of them will be how to setup a separate Blog section – check back then and grab the free tutorials (they’ll be inside the new download folder).

Cheers! Brandon

To experiment i put widgets on all the footers but still no luck. I hope you know what it is pretty please? :)

Hi Mass – that’s super strange… can you try reloading the index.php page? It might just be a buggy download or upload of the theme folder :)

Massfocus

I tried once and it didn’t change, then re-downloaded and tried again still no luck.. Is it possible cause i did something? I am very new to all of this so it wouldn’t surprise me if i did something terribly wrong..

Massfocus

I found something that may be useful ? When i try to edit the one post i did it says on the top:

Exec-PHP WYSIWYG Conversion Warning. Saving this article will render all contained PHP code permanently unuseful….

Just trying to figure out what it could cause this.

Heya Mass!

Are you running any extra plugins on your Wordpress installation? This isn’t a default Wordpress error, which leads me to believe that you might have another plugin running some sort of interference with the theme. Either way, let me know (might be easier just to email me) and I’ll be glad to help sort out what’s happening with your installation. I’ll note that I haven’t seen this sort of issue so far, so I’m going to assume for the time being that it’s related somehow to your setup as opposed to a theme related bug (which doesn’t mean you did anything wrong, just that this could happen with any theme). I’m here to help out though – so just fire me over an email from my profile page and I’ll get back to ya today :)

Cheers! Brandon

Great!! That was it! A previous plug-in was activated from a other theme and i deactivated it and it works like a charm now!!

Thank you very much for the quick and fantastic support. Really appreciate it, first time i got a theme 100% working :D me iz happeh!

Hi AJ – try setting the .img_link width to 208 (I forgot to account for padding):

.img_link {overflow: hidden; width: 208px; height: 130px; display: block;}

Hello again,

Related with the dropdown menu in the white version

/* IE Dropdown menu fix */ .cufon:hover, .page_item{color: white !important; visibility: visible !important;}

This is not working. Any idea?

PS – Uffff…all the crop stuff is done! :)

Heya AJ – Not sure what’s up, but it sounds like perhaps you’ve got some sort of caching problem on your side. Can you send me an email with a note about this stuff – I’ll be glad to help out from there, but as this seems to be something specific to your setup, I’d like to continue this discussion off of the public board :) Just drop me an email and we can pick this right up! Thanks!!!

LOL , I was going to call out a tiny bug that I found, but it looks like you’ve already solved it – that’s some crazy fast, psychic service mate! Good to know that you’re helping out us early buyers :)

The dropdown fix worked perfect for me – thanks for posting the IE8 fix. Can’t wait for that first update – you said next week?

I also had a little issue with the Wordpress thumbnailer not cropping my images like I wanted – but after playing around with it for a little bit I figured it all out. Thanks again for such an awesome theme!

MDNW Author

Thx Themeology :) (got your email too, just so ya know).

Yes, the first update (including some minor bug patches, advanced customization tutorials, and possible a few new skins) will be out next week sometime – every buyer will have access to all future updates for free.

Regarding the thumbnailer – it’s a fairly new Wordpress feature, so as I’ve been saying, even though it seems to be working fine for the vast majority of people, there’s always a few users with issues (as is to be expected). I’m planning on releasing some comprehensive documentation (and a screencast) with the first update, so keep an eye out for that.

Hm. Considering on buying it myself. However, I don’t have as much portfolio items as this, so the front would feel rather empty.

Is it easy to customize it so it would a grid of, let’s say, two images or three images per one “row”?

Also, could you tell me please, what fonts did you use for the menu?

If there is a way of customizing the grid I’ll buy it for sure.

MDNW
MDNW Author

Hi Alih,

Thanks for the questions :)

1. Yes, you can pretty easily adjust the grid module sizes – there’s even a tutorial included on switching this up. The default thumbnail size is 200×130, and the grid flexes to match your browser size (try resizing your window to see how this works!), but you could easily switch to something like 500×300 for less images per row :)

2. The font used in the header navigation is League Gothic, part of the League of Moveable type. You can obviously swap this out for another font with a few extra steps.

Just let me know if you have any questions after reading the instructions.

Cheers! Brandon

Thank you so much for your prompt response. If that’s the case, then I’ll be buying it next week for sure, or maybe even later this week. It’s exactly what I need.

And, I won’t be changing the font because I actually love it, so was just interested in what it is.:)

And, really, all compliments for such a great theme.

Since I’m uploading the thumbnail to my gallery when I use “lightbox_gallery_link” the little thumbnail also pops up in the gallery since I’ve uploaded it for the front page. Is there anyway to link my images for for the frontpage without uploading them to the gallery? When I use the upload from a url option I dont get the insert as thumbnail option.

MDNW
MDNW Author

Hi MTorres,

I ran into the same issue – at the moment, this is a limitation that’s basically built into the Wordpress gallery system. The problem is essentially that Wordpress automatically includes ALL images from the gallery, regardless of whether you want them all or not. The Wordpress forums have quite a few threads of people irritated by this limitation, so we’re not the only ones frustrated by this. With that said, a quick workaround is to use a full-size image for the thumbnail, then use the cropping tool for the “thumbnail only” to resize the thumb. I’m totally aware of the strange little issue though, and if a more elegant solution comes up in the future, I’ll let ya know :) Hope that helps!

Alright so I figured it out. All you have to do is before hand, know what image you want to use as your front page thumbnail upload it to your media library then when you go to choose your front page thumbnail all you do is select the option “from media library” and its not included into the posts gallery since its getting it just from your media library. A little extra work but it does the trick!

They are inside the cufon.js file :) The code inside is basic CSS (you’ll see what I mean), but some browsers won’t read it unless it’s inside the js file. Cheers! Brandon

Hello First congrats on your awesome theme ;0) Before I purchase, I would like to know this… When I look at the preview, on single pages or items, all is align left.. I understand it is fluid theme etc…but I want to know if making content centered in browser will interfere with overall look ?

Thanks!

MDNW
MDNW Author

Hi Chickscanfly,

It’s possible to set this up as centered, but as the method that I was using wasn’t translating well to some browsers (I’m looking at you Internet Explorer!), I opted to go with a simple left alignment. There’s other reasons that you might want left alignment as well (not having it forces you to break away from the grid page paradigm, etc.), but I’d be more than happy to help ya out with centering this if you do pick up the theme :)

Just a quicky

am i right that this one uses cufon font replacement? so there shouldnt be a problem to replace them to Helvetica for example? i just could use this for one of my clients..

i also would need to strip the background and menu(header) graphics how quick and painless process it would be?

cheers

MDNW
MDNW Author

Hi LeBrlt,

Swapping for Helvetica should be a cakewalk – it’s already setup to use Arial/Helvetica for the backup, so it can be as easy as just turning off Cufon for the easy way, or you could also use a special face of Helvetica as the Cufon face, which is a little prettier.

Stripping out the background and menu is quite simple as well – there’s even one of the skins where this is almost already done. Either way, you can just strip them out using one of the custom stylesheets as a guideline – total time shouldn’t take you more than 15 minutes + any time you want to spent tweaking it :)

Hi Epicera

is it possible to make the homepage into “2 columns” layout?? keep the gallery grid on the left-side and add a right side column for widgets etc..

Thank You

MDNW

Yep – as I mentioned in your other post, there’s a few ways of doing this. Adding an extra sidebar is slightly more complicated, but I’ll be more than happy to help you out next week when I have a little more time to assist.

Hi Epicera

How to make the FLEX homepage into “2 columns” layout?? Thank You ;-) – I’m Ready To Purchase

MDNW
MDNW Author

Yep – it’s not in the admin panel, but there’s a few ways of doing this:

1. Apply an absolute width to the grid-content container that only has enough space for 2 columns.

2. Make the thumbnails larger so that only 2 columns fit per page.

Either will work – #2 already has a tutorial inside the documentation on how to do it, #1 will be included next week in the first official update to the theme (that will mainly include tutorials).

Hey Brandon its me again

I swear this is the last time i will spam you :P (jk) could you take a look when you have time and point me in the right direction about the comment section of my site?

I cant seem to post comments in admin mode or guest. And yes i have the option turned on at the specific post and in the admin panel. massfocus.nl

Thanks in advance awesome sir!

Heya Mass!

It’s never spam dude :) Hard to say without being logged into your account myself… the easiest way for me to troubleshoot this for ya would be to actually log into your account using a temporary admin account. I’m actually traveling across the state today, but if you drop me an email with that login information, I can check this out in the morning tomorrow :)

The commenting from my side looks to be working fine though.

Really great theme, I was wondering how hard it is to break up the boxes, I was wondering about adding an ad spot between each set of 6 little boxes.

Also I have noticed some text/font flashing when I click on the contact link. Is that just a preview kink?

Cheers,

Once again, amazing work.

MDNW
MDNW Author

Hi Godon,

This shouldn’t be too tricky with a little ingenuity on your part. There are two ways that I can see this happening easily:

1. Add a new “ad spot” post every 6 entries. This is pretty simple and low maintenence.

2. Write a customization to the loop that actually inserts a stock ad every 6 posts.

There are a number of plugins out there that can help with this as well. Not having tried them myself, I can’t verify their effectiveness, but I know this is possible and has been done in the past :)

RE: the contact link – yep – just a demo bug.

Hi, I really need the homepage gallery to be cut up into categories, is that possible? Where there is an option to show “all”, but also an option to show only “videos” or only “images”, etc? Thanks.

MDNW

Hi Vajira! This is actually already in the demo… try out the Categories dropdown :) The categories now are setup as things like “photography”, “Web design”, etc., but you could just as easily use images and videos.

Hi, the only dropdown I can find on the demo is under services, where it links to blog pages and not to the frontpage gallery thumbnail layout. Have I understood correctly that I can have a full thumbnail gallery instead of a blog page for each category?

Thanks for a great theme. Is anyone having problems getting the contact form to work? I have a fresh install of Wordpress and the newest version of Contact form 7. Still the form won’t send any emails, and the ajax loader icon just keeps spinning forever. I’ve also installed an older version of Contact Form 7, but the problem is still there.

Any help is appreciated

MDNW
MDNW Author

Hi Stock,

I’ve been using Contact Form 7 in my themes for almost a year now, and the only issues that I’ve heard of to date are server-side, where the webhost that you are using has disabled some sort of mail sending protocol. I’ll admin that I’m not a system-admin guru or anything, but it might be worth checking out the Contact Form 7 forums as well as your webhost for a little more information. Or, you can obviously try one of the hundreds of other contact form plugins out there :)

Cheers!

stockvault

Thanks… but Im already using Comment Form 7 on another wordpress install hosted on the same server, and it works fine there.

Are you using an older version of Contact Forms 7 on the demo site?

MDNW
MDNW Author

Interesting – I’m using the most recent version in the demo – and the theme itself isn’t effecting the contact form besides adding a little bit of styling to match the theme, so it’s hard to say what might be causing the hangup. Have you tried using a simpler contact form (just name, email, message) to just verify whether or not it’s sending? I haven’t actually tried using uploads with that particular form so it’s hard to say what might be causing it to stick.

Either way, I’m back in the office tomorrow, so I’ll be happy to check it out in depth when I get back :)

Hi First of all this is a great theme with many fun functions.

But i can’t find the instructions to activate videos in the lightbox section and still use a thumbnail picture? Every time i try, the youtube video ends up in the small thumbnail box on the homepage.

Thanks Seb

MDNW

Hi Sebbe,

Good question – You still use the “thumbnail” for the preview graphic in the video modules… so, the thumbnail will be a graphic, and the lightbox custom field will be the YouTube URL . Hope that makes sense :) Check out the demo example if you run into any issues.

Hey this theme rocks, but I think it could be better by having the option of a full-screen content style template like the portfolio page…rather than always a content box off to the left.

:)

MDNW

Hi Straydog – this actually is an option and there’s a full tutorial for how to accomplish this :) Without going into a ton of detail, that content block is the same as any other – if you want to apply a different width (or a 100% width), it’s super easy to do with a quick CSS addition. Hope that helps!

Yo.. This theme made my month! But, my favorite commenting systems aren’t playing nice with it. I first tried echo http://js-kit.com/ (Which totally ROCKS !) and it blew up on me.. It looked like a jquery library conflict.. (My first choice if you can help!). Then I tried disqus and backtype, both were having css issues.. (if you could set me up with the right classes or divs I could play around until it works.) At the moment backtype is active and I can’t comment at all.. Please help!

here’s the url http://wordboom.biz/Showcase/2010/03/25/cu3er-test-2/

Hi Thorstone,

It’s tough to say what might be up – I’ve obviously provided the basic, default styling for the standard Wordpress commenting system (I’m actually using one of the standard WP comments.php files, and then just styling it), so this may be something where you want to check in with the plugin author to see if this is a common issue. If this is something related to the theme, I’d be more than happy to walk you through it, but my guess is this is something that you might do better consulting with the plugin authors. Either way, just let me know so I can stay in the loop :)

Brandon

thorstone137

Right on.. I’ll do that. In the mean time I’ve deactivated all the unnecessary plugins and reinstalled my comments.php (Just in case.. I didn’t make any changes) and I’m still not able to comment at all.
