Hi Jason,

Is there a way to change the order of my portifolio itens? By defaut, it shows the last updated first. I am going to have like 50 portifolio itens, and always udating new ones. It will be better if they shows in alfabetical order for exemple. Or any kind of custon order, that I can choose the exactly position of every item.

Tjanks a lot,

Cauhe

Hi Cauhe,

No, I’m sorry, but this isn’t a feature of the theme. The only way to manipulate the order the way it’s setup that I’m aware of is to just change the publish dates on your portfolio posts when you edit them. Doing this, you can manipulate the order of your portfolio items.

Hi again Jason,

Thank you for all support this last days.

Please, I would like to have a widget that shows a image. Not 4 125×125 images like the Ad ones, a custom image. The flipblog text widget I can see only allows text, not link for images. Do you have any sugestion?

Another thing, I am putting all my site in portuguese, how can I change, for exemple, the ’’read more’’ above the posts to a portuguese text?

ThemeBlvd

You’d just put an image in with HTML in a text widget.

In the WordPress world, they refer to translating WordPress as “localization” and so this theme comes “localization-ready”.

This is the complete guide to get you started:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Translating_WordPress

Specifically to the theme, there is a file called default.po located in the “lang” folder of the theme. You download that file and translate the contents line by line. This process will be easier to manage if you use a program like poEdit, for example. That way you’ll be able to translate the file with a user-friendly interface and not a text editor. Then you save the file with your language code in the file name (ex: fr_FR.po for French, en_BR.po for British, etc). When you do this, poEdit will also create a second file for you with the same name ending in ”.mo”. Then you need to upload these two new files back to “lang” folder of the theme on your live site.

In order for the above process to work, you need to actually have your WordPress site set to be in your language. You do that by changing the language code in your wp-config.php file (which is found in the root directory or your WordPress installation). Here’s a guide on that process:

Hi, I’d like to know if it is possible to add a Youtube link on footer (near rss, twitter, tb, etc…). And if yes, how.

Thanks! Elena

ThemeBlvd

No I’m sorry but there’s no option for a YouTube link in this theme.

Great theme, thanks!

Is there a quick way to decrease the font size of the “Recent News” widget?

ThemeBlvd

No, sorry there’s no options specifically for this. These kinds of things are CSS customization you’d need to make to the theme.

Hi Jason. Just wondering how I make the title of each blog bolded? And the date tab non bolded? I imagine its something like font-weight:bold; in the CSS but just not sure where to change it? Thanks.

ThemeBlvd

For CSS changes, it’s a good idea to use a tool like firebug or Google Chrome’s built-in developer tools to locate them and then put the edits either in your child theme or in the “Custom CSS ” option on your theme options page.

Also, here’s a helpful tutorial on how to use Firebug – http://vimeo.com/20917974. The only thing I’d suggest not doing is actually making edits to the theme’s CSS files, as it shows at the end of that video. However, the video serves as a good introduction to Firebug and how it can be used to find what CSS is effecting certain areas of your site without ever digging around in any files.

.post h1 {font-weight:bold;}

And the font weight in the date tab isn’t bolded.

Hi again ! I have a simple question : which php file(s) should I modify if I want to remove the title function when mouse pointer is on an image ? (title =”“).

I would like to stop this “alt” function when pointing on images.

Thanks for your help ! Arnaud / OSIBO Productions.

ThemeBlvd

It would depend on what images you’re referring to? Can you be more specific on what images you’re asking about?

Hello Jason ! Well, I am talking about every image in the blog, from the first one to the last I can use to illustrate my articles + the first of each article shown on homepage.

Thanks again ! Arnaud.

ThemeBlvd

With images you insert your post, you’d need to edit their HTML to not have any title or alt tags in them.

And as far as the featured images at the top of each post, you can’t really change this in any themes files. It’s just default HTML markup WordPress uses when you call the_post_thumbnail function.

Oh… I see…

Never mind !

Thank you so much, Jason and again, congrats for the good job.

Best, Arnaud.

Hi Jason, I’m noticing an issue with my flip blog template – people have been contacting me saying when they try and comment there is no submit button. I have looked on my PC and it’s fine but on a lap top and via iphone the comment box doesnt scroll the whole way down and so they can’t see where to submit? I changed the position of the Flip blog part to be up and now it works however I’d prefer to have the flip down on the base on the page. Is this an issue other people have had – or is something to do with Word Press? Thanks!

ThemeBlvd

Hello,

I do know what you’re talking about and this is because iOS devices don’t support in CSS what’s called “static” positioning. This is what’s needed for the header to stay positioned at the bottom of the screen on your PC. I apologize, but this theme was never built to be responsive and display on mobile devices and tablets.

Hi Jason, I was unable to find a WP mobile plugin that worded for my needs so I created a Wix mobile site and their mobile redirect is in JavaScript only. They do not have a clue about using this script with a WordPress site and I can find no useful info about it (probably because I am looking in all the wrong places). Right now I am using a plugin to redirect to my page at Wix, but that is not how it should work. I assume it should go in the template files. Any ideas on this? Here’s their script: <script src="http://static.wix.com/mobile/javascript/etc/relocator-min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> My site: http://after9design.net
ThemeBlvd

Here’s how to include a javascript file in WordPress (i.e. what you’d do from your theme’s functions – functions.php):

http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_enqueue_script
  • Bought between 10 and 49 items

I have already spent a lot of time studying this codex page. I just don’t know where to begin to put the script or what syntax to use. I’m not conversant enough with php. This is the kind of dumb-ass thing I would do-

wp_enqueue_script( $handle ,$src="http://static.wix.com/mobile/javascript/etc/relocator-min.js" type="text/javascript" ,$deps ,$ver ,$in_footer ); //include_once(TEMPLATEPATH . '/theme_hints.php'); ?>
ThemeBlvd

Check out the examples further down on the page. You’re just copying the usage line at the top of the article.

function your_scripts() {
    wp_enqueue_script( "your_script_id" , "http://static.wix.com/mobile/javascript/etc/relocator-min.js" );
}
add_action('wp_enqueue_scripts', 'your_scripts');
shezallthat

Are you referring to the “Load script depends on scriptaculous” section? If so, what is “your_ script_ID? This seems to imply adding something to the functions-wp-scripts file? God, I hope not!

ThemeBlvd

No, you’re adding your own script and so you need to give it your own custom handle. “your_script_id” is just whatever handle you want to associate with the script you’re enqueue’ing. You can make it whatever you want. Just use the code I wrote for you.

Well, now my site has disappeared!! I deleted what I added to functions.php and it still is gone and I’m kind of freaking out. So, what now? I think I may have changed the wp-includes/functions.php by mistake.

ThemeBlvd

lol… and this is why code customizations aren’t included with support:

http://themeblvd.com/support/#section-3

Just download WordPress and restore the original /wp-includes/functions.php file. You should never edit any of WordPress core files.

Hi I am looking for a template for my site. I need to know if your template has: 1 – Adsense to use netaflliation 2 – Automatic resize for thumbnail picture 3 – SEO 4 – Dropdown 5 – If I can use youtube videos 6 – If you can translate the menu items to Portuguese thank you

ThemeBlvd

Hello,

Yes, you can do all of the things you’re asking. The theme has a built-in SEO features. There’s not going to be a specific feature for your advertisements, but you can use any plugin you want or perhaps insert your ad code via a Text widget as with any other theme. And all of the other things are just general WordPress features that any modern theme should have. So, yeah, it sounds like you should be good to go.

Hello Jason.

I am usaing the portifolios itens to show my work, and now the link for then is http://www.gonikalife.com/portfolio/quadros-fine-art/ (portifolio) and http://www.gonikalife.com/portfolio-item/arbol-de-la-vida/ (portifolio item).

Is there a way to change the words portifolio and oprtifolio itens on this urls? Like: http://www.gonikalife.com/art/quadros-fine-art/, or even without a rord, as portifolio was a page: http://www.gonikalife.com/quadros-fine-art (the best option).

Thanks a lot

ThemeBlvd

This is controlled in this file: /includes/theme_functions/portfolio.php

You’d have to either change the name of the taxonmy and post types oradd in rewrite parameters.

Here’s documentaiton on working with these two functions:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_post_type

http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_taxonomy

I believe both functions have a “rewrite” parameter that the theme is not using, as this just defaults to the actual id of the taxonomy or post type. It would be best to take this approach because if you change the actual ID of these things, you’re going to have to re-create all of your portfolios and portfolio items.

Hi Jason,

Still using Flipblog after 2 years. Awesome work. I’m trying to add a line of text or artwork on homepage#1 above the slideshow. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks!

ThemeBlvd

This is controlled with this file: template_homepage1.php

Note that isn’t much like a typical WordPress theme file as it really should be looking back at my old work now. —It’s all in PHP . So, below the theme hints but above the slideshow you’d need to print out your text something like this:

echo 'This is some custom stuff...';
  • Bought between 1 and 9 items
  • Has been a member for 3-4 years

Thanks for this. Is there a good source for formatting some text in that spot or dropping in a piece of artwork? I notice that when I try to use standard css code here it does not work. Any help on that would be swell.

ThemeBlvd

It’s PHP , you can’t just drop HTML or CSS in there. It has to be printed out.

echo '<strong>Some HTML</strong>';

If you put in CSS , you wouldn’t put it in the template file. You’d put either in style.css or the custom CSS option on your theme options page.

Perfect. Thanks again. I was able to add a simple line of text there.
