Hi Vilius, I think I’ve been in the very first to buy this great theme and have been waiting, since this day to display my “commercial portfolio” with grid portfolio and my “artistic portfolio” with the horizontal one. I thought you told me it would be on the release (v2) but I install it today and it still doesn’t work… Could you help me please ? how can I choose different display depending to my project types ? Thanks a lot for your quick answer, Best regards, Labiche

intheme

Hey Labiche,

I’m still working on other requests at the moment. In the next version which will be 1.2 I’ll introduce vertical blog and other improvements. The issue with your request is that there’s no elegant solution because the way Wordpress works, so it had to be postponed as it involves a lot of work. Although there might be some quicker workarounds. If you’d contact me over email I could take a quick look at your website to see if anything could be done to achieve different layouts for your commercial and artistic portfolios.

Hey,

I’m already finished with it, so it’s coming in the next release with some other fixes. Aiming to deliver this week.

Possible to hide the “Project Types” in the sidebar in each portfolio?

intheme

Hey,

you could hide sidebar inside projects by adding following to your user.css file:

.single-fluxus_portfolio .sidebar {
    display: none;
}

.single-fluxus_portfolio .site-with-sidebar {
    padding-left: 15px;
}

Hello Gavin!

My website is finally and already online. I still believe that’s a wonderful theme for photographer, but my client (sorry) keeps complaining about thumbnails’ size. I tried few solution but she’s still not completely satisfied. Basically she would love to have them as a “thumbnail miniature” of her entire photo. Not having to cut the picture in order to respect the size of the template thumbnail. I hope I made myself clear…

She’s also willing to pay a developer, besides me, in order to fix this issue. Since I explained her that she chose the theme after having seen the live demo where she could have noticed how thumbnail work and I don’t really know how to customise the code at this point.

For your convenience here is a link at her website, specifically at one of those pages where she doesn’t like the thumbnails’ gallery http://anapaolaferrari.com/cuba/

I am looking forward to know if there is anything we can do to make such a modification.

THANKS A LOT!

Cheers, Alice

intheme

Hey Alice,

luckily it should be possible to fix without paying anyone. There’s a setting which specifies, what size of thumbnail to use for the gallery. By default it is set to use 500×500 cropped images, but you can change that.

On your page that contains gallery, click Text to see shortcode of the gallery. Edit the shortcode so it looks something like this:

[gallery link=”file” size=”medium” ids=”8424,844,841,8456,8460,8425,8348”]

Note the size=”medium” line. This tells to use uncropped medium sized images. The medium sizes are specified under Settings > Media. If it does not work, then you could also try adding size=”large” or size=”thumbnail”.

Also since this change prevent cropping of images, then you might get some padding inside your galleries if images don’t share the same aspect ratio.

Hope you’ll be able to work this out.

Cheers, Vilius

Hi Vilius,

it is nice to hear that! One less thing to worry about.

Any other good news, regarding my homepage and my portfolio grid template question?!

1. In the static homepage, I need the logo to be a little bigger than the size you recommend. So I set it 80 pixel height instead of the 40 pixel suggested. However I don’t like the image to be cut at the bottom, which from my understanding is a matter of content page size. Like in here http://anapaolaferrari.com or here http://anapaolaferrari.com/about-me/ Is there a way to get what we want, even modifying the code?

2. In the portfolio, is there a way in coding to get an homogeneous distance between all the uploaded artworks?

The artworks don’t actually have all the same size and some are vertical while some are horizontal. But we shot the pictures in the advised exactly same size 1500X1000 pixels. That’s a peculiarity we don’t want to change, since makes each piece of art even more original from the other. At the same time we want to have a better organised gallery tough.

For your convenience here is a link to what I am referring to - http://anapaolaferrari.com/portfolio/canvas/canvas/ - http://anapaolaferrari.com/portfolio/sketches/sketches/

Also, speaking about the portfolio, on my 17” screen the cover landing page (where all the galleries cover are) looks great. But when we open the page on a 15” screen, covers have different cut and size. No matter which browser we are using. (Screenshot may follow to make it more clear). Why is that happening?

Thanks again, Alice

intheme

Hey Alice,

screenshots are always helpful. As for logo issue I’m not experiencing any cut of the logo, it just looks nice :-)

You can fix the homogeneous issue. It’s a bit of a ugly issue though. Can I ask where did you find the suggestion of using exactly 1500×1000 dimensions of the images? :-/ In the documentation it says that this should be the minimum size.

So to fix it I guess you’ll have to re-upload the images without the white padding. It will give you a nice constant margin between them. Also if an artwork is in horizontal position, then it’s ok to use it, it will still fit nicely. The only way where landscape orientation works better is the cover image. The ultimate tip would be:

1. Inside projects use any images you like. 2. Use landscape oriented images as project covers. 3. Upload images that are at least 1500×1000, but no more than 1920×1280 (if images are larger than that they will just get resized wasting you some precious upload time)

Hope this makes things clearer.

Hi Villus,

sorry if I didn’t make myself clear, is not the logo that get cut in the homepage, but the picture below it. I tried every different and possible “page template” (as default, fullwidth, etc.) from the theme, but no one would make the entire image fitting the size of the page.

Speaking of my portfolio issue, thanks for your precise answer!

However I still have few more little questions to ask… 1500×100 is the minimum size required, but it should anyway work. At the bottom line, that size is one of the proper format (the minimum one) to upload pics, is that correct? I guess the problem must be the white padding, as you mentioned. The thing is I haven’t taken this pics and I can’t cut any of this artwork differently. Basically, each piece has a different shape (horizontal, vertical, round, squared, etc.) and a different dimension. And that happen even if the pieces are from the same portfolio gallery! To conclude, my question here is if there is a way to make them even and divided by an homogeneous space even tough we start from such different file.

Thank you very much for your precious help. Alice

Hi, this is really one of the best and creative themes I’ve seen for a long time. Great Job.

One question: In the blog, I’d like to show the author of the post too, not only the date. Where can I change it?

Thanks,

Florian

intheme

Hey,

thanks! The date should be visible on blog post page. Are you willing to show it on the blog list page as well? It’s possible, but you’ll have to add some code. I suggest you to wait for the next update, there will be an additional vertical blog layout, which will support showing post author in blog list.

Hello, I purchased your theme the other day, I really like the simple and clean design. Nevertheless I really have some difficulties with it building my site. My other website uses STUDIOFOLIO theme which seems have a better understanding in organizing the portfolio and also video tutorials. Do you have video tutorials, too? For example, important question, I have different portfolios in the menu, I need to assign portfolio items to the different menu / submenu points. How? Also, I don’t need the sidebar menu in both portfolios, just in one. thank you, waiting asap for your help! Carina

intheme

Hey Carina,

currently there is no tutorial videos, I know some people provide it, I’d like to do the same as well, but currently there are some other works in the pipeline first.

I’ll try to answer your questions though. All menu assignments can be done via Appearance > Menus. On the left hand side find Portfolio section, it will allow you to add projects to your menus. Also there is a Project Type section, which enables you to add specific project type to your menu. You might also find this documentation section useful – http://inthe.me/documentation/fluxus/#multiple-portfolios-101

To help you with hiding a sidebar on specific project I will need to get a link to your website and a project where you want the sidebar to be hidden.

Hello, I am sure this has been asked before but this discussion area isn’t easily searchable. A true support forum would be a great idea and likely a time-saver for you. :)

Anyway, when we want to remove an image from a portfolio or a full-page slider, do we have to completely delete it from the media directory or can we just remove it from that one page? My client often moves photos from one gallery to another so it is very inconvenient to have to go back and upload it again.

Thank you!

intheme

Hey,

as of 1.1 version you can remove an image from portfolio project without deleting media file. Inside Project Media click “Edit” next to an image you with to remove and click “Remove”. This will remove the image from portfolio project, but leave the file untouched.

It’s a bit different with Full Page Slider, there you can either to “Unpublish” a slide or delete the image itself.

The forum is in the works already, so there soon is going to be a better place for finding answers.

Hi! Great theme thank you very much! I hope you can answer my question : Is it possible to remove the ” like / appreciate this project?” feature at the end of the horizontal portfolio?

Thanks, Bene

intheme

Hey Bene,

yes it is. There are two ways:

1. The hard way, but the correct way is to use Wordpress translations. You can read about it here – http://inthe.me/documentation/fluxus/#how-to-translate-fluxus-theme-115 – basically you will need to provide a translation for Like/Appreciate this project”. This method is correct because it does not modify core files and allows you to update the theme later.

2. The easy way (but you’ll have to redo it every time you’ll update the theme) is to modify file called single-fluxus_portfolio.php

Just find a line that says “Appreciate this project” and replace it with anything of your choice.

http://cl.ly/image/383z170U1y1H I’m very flurry. I want to ‘logo position’ is second thing, ‘View Project’ position is first thing. address is http://ssank.im/lab/replica . Thanks.
intheme

Hey,

1. Since you’ve changed View Project button position into absolute, then there’s no way to position it in the middle without fixing the width. If you are not going to change the label of the button, then it should be fine. Try adding the following code to your user.css file:

.slide .style-default .button {
width: 80px;
padding: 0 14px;
margin: 0 0 0 -54px;
}

2. The logo position issue is because your server is unable to determinate your logo size. This will be fixed in the next release, but since you have modified theme core files, then I guess it will be difficult to update. You might want to manually specify logo size in your user.css file like this:

.logo {
width: 43px;
height: 227px;
}

This should fix the issue.

Also it is recommended to add CSS changes only to css/user.css file, this way you could easily update the theme in the future.

Hope this helps, Cheers, Vilius

Hi Vilius, Thanks for this awesome theme! I’m trying to get the quote post type working with a featured image in the background. In the post page, without a feature image the quote is well centered in the box but with a feature image, the quote is decentered to the upper right of the image instead. All is fine in the post preview. Any idea? Thanks

intheme

Hey,

I can confirm that you’ve found a bug. It is going to be fixed in the next release, meanwhile you could add this to your user.css file to fix it straight away:

.post-image .wrap-quote {
    height: 100%;
}
.single-format-quote .entry-header {
    width: 100%;
}
.single-format-quote .wrap-quote blockquote {
    padding: 0 60px;
    margin: 0;
    -moz-box-sizing: border-box;
    -webkit-box-sizing: border-box;
    -ms-box-sizing: border-box;
    -o-box-sizing: border-box;
    box-sizing: border-box;
}

Hi Vilius, once again, I really need your support to get things done here, I have written you the other day and still not have any answer :( Do you have a support@email for your customers?? One main issue: I need my menu with these characteristics which seem very basic to all themes around here I’ve seen and my previous one, too. I need at least two menu links with submenu points. These submenu points lead to: 1. a selection of portfolio items (of this category), 2. another selection of portfolio itmes and 3. a gallery. So basically I need to assign the portfolio items to different portfolio pages. Please check this website if I couldn’t explain well www.rustandgold.com Waiting asap for your help!! thanks, Carina

intheme

Hey Carina,

I guess this can be done like in any other theme. You should go to Appearance > Menus, there find a Portfolio meta box from which you can add any specific Project Type to your menu or sub-menu.

Cheers, Vilius

Default-user

Hello Vilius, there is no Portfolio Meta Box in the Menus, and it’s not about Project type as I already wrote to you! once again, maybe you didn’t read carefully, what I am trying to say (to see and understand I’ve linked you also a website), I need different Portfolios and different Portfolio pages to be assigned to each other, and as you already said should be able to be done as in any other theme. On your portfolio items page there is no box where to assign the project to a portfolio page. All portfolio items lead to all pages which are assigned “portfolio template”. How can I resolve this?

intheme

Hey,

from the link I understand that you are willing to have a Photography menu item with Editorial, Fashion and Reportage submenues? Is that correct?

If so then you need to create 3 project types, Editorial, Fashion and Reportage. Then assign some projects to these project types. Now let’s add them to the menu.

Go to Appearance > Menus. You said that there’s no Portfolio meta box, it is probably because Wordpress hides it by default. On the top right side of the page there is Screen Options button. Click it and make sure Portfolio and Project Types are checked. Please see this screenshot for reference http://cl.ly/image/361j3815341K

This should enable the Project Types meta box. Find it on the page and add Editorial, Fashion and Reportage project types to your menu. The project types meta box looks like this http://cl.ly/image/1L201h2Y2u2s

Also make sure you add Photography menu item, which should be the page you’ve created that has a Horizontal Portfolio set as a template.

There’s also a relevant documentation section, you might find it useful – http://inthe.me/documentation/fluxus/#portfolio-18

Hope this is helpful.

Cheers, Vilius

Default-user

Hello Vilius,

thank you for taking the time and explaining step by step. I tried to assign the project types to the different items and it works. Though there is still the problem that whatver new page I create which is a portfolio template contains ALL portfolio items. I have two menu point which are simply a collection of specific portfolio items, but they both show ALL portfolio items created. And second, I could need the sidebar with the specific portfolio links but not ALL of them, just the once of that specific topic. So either I would like to be able to switch off and on when I need the sidebar or better hide everything. And last but not least, is it possible to have one portfolio page in horizontal view and another one in grid?? thanks Carina

intheme

Hey Carina,

if you could give me the example of menu structure you are willing to achieve that would help a lot. Right now I guess you are willing to have two pages that have multiple projects with different tags. The way you could do this is by creating nested project types, for example:

Photography
  Editorial
  Fashion

Design
  Print
  Branding

Then you could add two project types to your menu: photography and design. These pages will show only projects that have been tagged with child tags. That is Photography page would only show projects with Editorial and Fashion project types.

Using grid portfolio and horizontal portfolio at the same time is not possible as there is no way to assign projects to specific page. This is becoming a common issue, so I’ll try to solve it somehow.

Cheers, Vilius

Default-user

Hi Vilius, the menu structure should like this: 1.Art Projects, 2.Photography, 3.Design. Regarding #1: I do not want submenues under art projects, but I could need the sidebar for a menu with the specific names of these art projects. #2 Here I’m fine, I did what you suggested me and have submenues, though I need to HIDE the sidebar menu. #3 I do not need a submenu, a simple sidebar with project types would be fine, but not necessarly. What would be really useful is having the option to have either grid AND horizontal portfolio view, this would be very good!! thanks a lot, Carina

intheme

Hey Carina,

is your website already online? If I could get a link, I would be able to explain how to hide sidebar menu on certain pages.

ps: another issue is embeding a video code. I really can’t get it working! it just shows a light grey field. I tried it with <iframe>, [], and without.. but nothing. Also, wenn inserting text next to the portfolio horizontal item the scrolling of the text itself doesn’t work good, do you know why?

intheme

Hey,

where exactly are you trying to embed video? Inside portfolio project? Could you contact me via contact form and send me the iframe code alongside with a link to your website? As for text scrolling, could you also give me a link to a page, where it does not work?

Thanks, Vilius

2 Questions on the home page:

1. Is there a CSS code override that can place the circles in the bottom middle vs. the lower left? I couldn’t figure it out exactly?

2. Is there a way to make the photos go full bleed from left/right (vs. a bit of border)? Top/bottom are fine, but we’d like to try to remove the gap on left/right side.

intheme

Hey,

You can remove the side padding from Full Page Slider by adding this to your user.css file:

.page-template-template-full-page-slider-php #main {
    margin-left: 0;
    margin-right: 0;
}

As for centering social icons it’s not that trivial, so I’m afraid I can’t give you exact instructions.

Thx that worked perfectly!

I’m actually referring to the circles that represents each banner image, that should be easily center-able right?

intheme

Good to know!

Is there a specific page where those circles appear? Maybe you are referring to services shortcode like here http://inthe.me/demo/fluxus/features/services/ ?

Cheers, V

Default-user

Actually referring to the little circles that’s on the bottom left of the home page images http://carpediemmag.com/images/circles.png

intheme

Oh right, they are little circles indeed :-)

You should be able to center them by adding this to your user.css file

.slider-navigation {
    left: 0;
    width: 100%;
    text-align: center;
}
.slider-navigation ul {
    display: block;
}
.slider-navigation li {
    float: none;
    display: inline-block;
}

Is it possible to block the left button mouse to avoid copy pictures?

intheme

Hey,

you could disable right click using a plugin like this http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/no-right-click-images-plugin/

Unfortunately there’s no way to 100% prevent image copying, so I would not recommend disabling right click.
