This is a long shot and complicated but i thought i would give it a ask and see what your thoughts are. I have just purchased your theme after reviewing several hundred in this category – i love it!

The one issue i am wrestling with is that i am migrating an existing blog with some hundred or so blog posts that have several thousand of images total attached to them.

My challenge in moving to this new theme is the existing format for my blog posts is to have the blog post with the images attached. Your portfolio type has the equivalent functionality i need so what i need to do is migrate my existing blog posts to the new portfolio type.

I did some playing around with copying a blog post then retyping it as a portfolio post, that works but the attached images from the original are lost and i need to use your media insert again to make the portfolio post the equivalent of the old blog post format.

So in short – Is there a way to convert a blog post with attached images to a portfolio post?

Hope this is clear and thanks in advance!

Hey,

you might need to hire a programmer for this one. The issue is that in your blog post images are inserted inside content (they exist like tags), while Fluxus works by assigning image IDs to portfolio projects. So either you create some sort of script which is able to automatically convert from URL to image ID (it may be quite complicated), or you have to do the migration manually (maybe you could think of some good way of organizing your old images so that migrating could be faster).

Also note that there’s currently no pagination for portfolio projects, so displaying hundreds of projects might be slow. I’m planning to add it in future versions though.

Thanks for the prompt response! – one quick foll-up – the format of the horizontal image scroll in the portfolio view – can blog posts be displayed in the same way? If so that would also solve my issue… if not i am just going to move them manually i found a way that is not too horrible.

Hi I’m a total novice at this wordpress thing… I’m setting up my website for my photography and am trying to set up a horizontal portfolio. I’ve uploaded photos and selected the template horizontal portfolio and when i publish and go the page, my header and header menus are like the should be but where the portfolio should be i only get white? i’ve tried with other templates and get the same result…. I’ve looked over the documentation but am not finding any answers to my dilemna…. for sure it is something simple… if anyone can help i’d sincerely appreciate it! furthermutiny!

Hey,

make sure you do the following:

1. Create a page and assign Horizontal Portfolio template, publish that page. 2. On your WP admin go to Portfolio > Add New and create a new project. On the bottom of that page there is Project Media section, where you need to upload your project images. Upload some, save and publish the project.

Now if you visit your page that you’ve created in step #1 you should see the project you’ve created in step #2.

Let me know how that goes.

Hello! Thanks for good theme! Can You help me with share buttons? How can I add russian social network button “vkontakte”? And change Facebook “like” button to “like+share” button?

intheme

Hey,

it’s not very straight forward, but since is not the first request for vkontakte (and Facebook share), I’ll try to add it in the next version.

Hi…¬†unfortunately I did not get an answer to my question from the 3 days ago. I really appreciate any help:

“Hi… just one last question. In the light template the text besides the portfolios is aligned right http://inthe.me/demo/fluxus/portfolio/photography/iceland-by-greta-tu/ but in the dark template the text is aligned left. How can I change the text-alignment in the portfolio section (where it says Featured Project, Project info, Author, Project type) in the dark template to right-alignment like in the light style?

Thank you.”

EDIT: I have solved the above mentioned issue. Except of one thing…¬†I was able to align all sidebar elements to right-alignment except of the short dividing line above the titles “Project Info, Author, ...” How can I align this element to right in the dark theme?

Great theme! I have three questions you might be able to help me.

1) Multiple Portfolios. I setup portfolios as described in the doc, but I really got stuck here “go to Appearance > Menus and find Project Types meta box.” There is no such meta box. Can you pls send me screenshot of where I find this option?

2) Footer: Instead of social bookmarks and navigation and copyright I just would like to have the same blank space as left and right (15px). How do I edit the footer file for this?

3) I don’t need the last box in the portfolio view where it says “Like this project / Other projects / Next / Portfolio”. How do I remove this box completely?

Thanks

@martin_bissig: for your point 3) this will remove the last box:

.portfolio-navigation {
box-shadow: 0 0 0 1px #555555 inset;
display: none;
}

In line 462 you have to add “display: none;” to yourtheme/css/skins/dark.css

Ok. I figured out my 2/3 problems. Widgets are how you get the side bar information ::facepalm:: and the theme chooses grid or horizontal and sets it for all types, make a decision anywhere and it changes for everything (i think). So thats all fine. Still hoping for a rollover image description/caption (just like the div.hoverbox) but I read that requiest before so I am sure its on your radar. {I did try and transplant the div.hoverbox around img.image, but boy did that not go well ahaha}

zomg, sorry one more question – but this one i really need you for. I’m trying to add the project type description to the sidebar. I’ve installed a PHP widget, and have already effectively used it to add a category description to my sidebar.

<?php echo category_description( $category_id ); ?>

but I can’t get the project type description to display. I believe the issue has to due with the taxonomy=fluxus-project-type. I’ve tried taxonomy_description, fluxus-project-type_description etc, but none work. Can you tell me how to call it? Cheers

intheme

Hey,

you could get the description like this:

$project_type = get_term( $project_type_id, 'fluxus-project-type' );
echo $project_type->description;

Cheers, Vilius

@Designs4U

Thanks, that helped! However I tried to add this into the user.css (I try not to touch the original code) but it didn’t work, so I really had to remove this from dark.css

Also my problem 1) was also solved, I just didn’t real the documentation properly.

Now just the footer problem remains :)

Hello

Is it possible to use only the Full Page slider for the Portfolio?

Thanks, Simon

intheme

Hey,

since there’s no limit on how many Full Page Slider pages you can have, then I guess you could. Excerpt that it won’t give you some benefits that normal portfolio projects have like video embedding, project types, project index page.

Hi Vilius,

when you will update the new version?

thx for the great work

Hi there,

Do you think it’s possible to have a Grid option for a project ? Exactly like Grid Portfolio. Is it tricky to do that ?

It’s a good way to have an overview of a project with 20 / 30 photos without scrolling (like a lot profesional portfolio )

I’ll buy this theme immediatly if there is such an option :)

Hi – amazing, love it.

One question.

Is it possible to have two galleries in the horizontal menu bar (collection 1, Collection 2 for example) that when clicked on will show their relevant portfolio’s in a grid format?

I’m having problems in that I can create the two menu’s – not a problem. But when I click on collection 2 for example – it just shows me exactly the same grid and albums as in collection 1.

Can’t wait to go live with the new design though – much more professional than what I was using before!

Villus,

For some reason the vertical image listing in the portfolio sections (where you can arrange the photos) on my backend just disappeared completely.

Any way to fix this?

intheme

Oh, thanks for sharing! Good to know if someone runs into similar issue.

Cheers, Vilius!

Hi

Is it possible to give the Full Width Template a backround color. I would like to have the text on a light gray.

Thanks, Simon

Default-user

Hi Vilius

Yes thats the template i mean. Ok thanks, will try it out.

I didnt work. Is this correct like this?

.page-template-template-full-width-php {
background-color: #b71f1f; /* your color */
}

#main .slide .info,
#main .slider-arrow-right,
#main .slider-arrow-left {
    opacity: 1;
}
Default-user

sorry. Suddendly it works. Dont know what was the issue. But when I use this code everything changes the color. Header, Footer and framework should stay white.

Thanks,

Hello, my problem is related to the galleries of the portfolio. In the menu I would put: “home | agency | Portfolio 1 (grid portfolio) | Portfolio 2 (grid portfolio) | Portfolio 3 (horizontal portfolio) WHERE WE ARE | etc.. If I create three pages Portfolio 1, 2, 3, and load in the menu, when I click them I do see the same galleries on the grid. But I would like to display two grid galleries with single portfolio and a horizontal portfolio different from each other. How do I?

intheme

Hey,

at the moment you can only use one portfolio layout so mixing grid portfolio and horizontal portfolio is not possible. Although this is going to change with the next release.

Please read this documentation section on how to show different portfolios – http://inthe.me/documentation/fluxus/#multiple-portfolios-101

You can follow @in_theme to get notified about the next update.

I have 2 questions:

1. Can we disable the lightbox effect on portfolio images?

2. Is there anyway to adjust the spacing between images on: -homepage portfolio grid -between images in portfolios

thanks!

intheme

Hey,

1. There’s a documentation FAQ entry describing how to do this: http://inthe.me/documentation/fluxus/#how-to-disable-lightbox-inside-project-pages-114

2. There is a gutterWidth and gutterHeight options. You can edit them in main.js file or you can override them by adding this to your js/user.js file:

(function ($) {
    $(function () {
        var grid = $('.portfolio-grid').data('grid');
        grid.options.gutterWidth = 30;
        grid.options.gutterHeight = 30;
        $(window).resize();
    });
})(jQuery);

This will increase the spacing twice.

3. It’s a bit tricky: you need to change fluxus-thumbnail size in functions.php file and then you need to regenerate all your thumbnails (possible by using a plugin). This is a good suggestion though and I think I’ll try to use the increased size by default in future versions.

Cheers, Vilius

Thank you so much for the reply. What If I want to change the gutter width when viewing a porfolio post? This worked for the main gallery page, but I would like to change the width when looking at the photos in a post as well.

Thank you!

intheme

Hey,

then you could add something like this to your user.css file:

.horizontal-page .horizontal-content .horizontal-item {
    margin-right: 15px;
}

Cheers, Vilius

Also is there any way to change the image size on blog posts to 1024px? I would like them to be wider than they currently are.

Thanks!
